Happy Wednesday!! We have a fabulous new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches. The incredible Kim Singdahlsen is our sketch hostess this week and you are just going to fall in love!
It seems that traditional colors are the way I’m leaning this year on my Christmas cards. I remain obsessed with this Be Merry DSP from Stampin’ Up and I added on this speckled woodgrain print from Coffee Break DSP (also SU). I think the prints work really well together! I kept this pretty simple and used one of my go-to Christmas sentiments from the Be Merry Stamp Set by WPlus9. The little flower and holly leaves are from the same set and I did some quick Copic coloring. The sentiment is from the Be Merry Stamp Set from WPlus9 and it is one of my favorites again this year. It is stamped in Early Espresso ink to match the woodgrain paper. To create all the rectangles, I used the Stitched Rectangles Dies by Simon Says Stamp.
I’m trying to get a little more serious about my holiday cards so I think you can expect to see more of those in the upcoming weeks. Make sure you stop over to say hi to the team at Freshly Made Sketches. They have created wonderful projects this week! Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon.
Supplies (affiliate links included):
Stamp: Be Merry (WPlus9); Paper: Thick Whisper White (SU), Be Merry DSP (SU), Coffee Break DSP (SU); Ink: Early Espresso (SU); Accessories: Misti, Big Shot, Stitched Rectangles Dies (Simon Says Stamp), Basic Pearls (SU)
Wow, it is already the last of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. What a week of reveals it has been, don’t you think? Yeah…I’m in love with everything. But we are not done yet and we have two more stamp sets to show you before we are finished.
The first set I get to show you today is called Naughty or Mice. Isn’t it cute??!! I just love this little fellow holding a present and hoping you’ll say “Mice”. I kept this one nice and clean with just a few bits of sparkle. I colored him using my Zig Clean Color Pens and then added some Wink of Stella.
This is such a sweet little set and another one that is great for coloring. And if you love coloring, then the second set I have today is going to make you really happy! Yes, our friend Newton is back and he gets to be Santa Paws Newton.
Since I have been using a traditional color scheme so much this week, I stuck with that as I colors this sweet little Newton. I think the little mouse is a true believer, don’t you?!
So this week has been a bit of a whirlwind! So many amazing products that will all be available tomorrow (Friday). I think there is something for everyone’s holiday wish list! But we still have one more chance for you to win.

Happy day 3 of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. And yes, it is also Freshly Made Sketches day. So I combined two of my favorite things into one post! This holiday release from Newton’s Nook is going to continue to amazing you as, yet again, we have TWO stamps to share with you.
I am going to start with the Stylish Stockings Stamp Set and the coordinating dies since I used it with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week. I love the sweet designs on these little stockings and the adorable stitched details for them. I stamped them using Altenew’s Ruby Red ink and just look at how those tiny details show perfectly. All I had to do was stamp the sentiment on a stitched circle and add some festive patterned paper. Stamps like this make your holiday cards easy to reproduce and such fun to make!
Next up is Reindeer Roll Call. What an awesome idea this stamp is!! As soon as I saw it, I thought chalk board card so I just had to give it a try. I stamped using Versamark ink on a textured black card stock and then heat embossed with WOW Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder. I added the little snowflakes and one of the reindeer from the stamp set to accent the names and embossed them too. I cut the panel out with a cross-stitched rectangle die and added a few rhinestones that I colored with a red Copic marker. To give it that chalk board look, I tapped on a little bit of white craft ink with a sponge. Then, I cut out some Corrugated Kraft card stock using a cross-stitched rectangle and added this great 7/8″ Striped Ribbon from Stampin’ Up as an accent. You’ll notice a theme with these card today….makable! Because when it comes to holiday cards, I generally like the make a few of each style!
I just know you are going to love the projects from the entire Newton’s Nook team today and don’t forget to take a look at all the inspiration at Freshly Made Sketches too! Of course, the post isn’t complete without a chance to win!

Welcome to day 2 of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. After a spectacular start to this week, I’m back today with another must-have set of products. Yes indeed, a snow globe!! Oh, the possibilities!
What is it about a shaker card that makes everyone happy? No one can resist them! And when the shaker is a snow globe? It is sure to be a holiday hit! As usual, the hardest part of my card was narrowing down which images to use. Because I love them all! I settled on the little houses and Santa because well, it is Santa!! I loved the idea of using silver, navy and white to create an adorable winter scene for my snow globe. And it is super fun to do. I find it easier to show you in a video so I created a tutorial for you.
Make sure you take note of the foam and acetate sheet packs that will be available on Friday. These are a great deal and you’ll want them on hand for all kinds of projects.
I said yesterday how much I love sentiment sets…just take a look at how perfectly Snow Globe Scenes coordinates with Sentiment of the Season from yesterday. When font styles coordinate for the insides and outsides of a card, that makes like so easy for the holidays!
I hope you are having fun so far with this release! And it is only day 2. So many pretty products!! Of course, the post isn’t complete without a chance to win!

Welcome to day 1 of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. I love holiday cards. Love them! They are some of my favorites to make and this week’s release is full of amazing products to use. I can hardly wait for you to see everything! We are starting off with two stamp sets and two stencils. Yes, I said starting off. Oh wow!!
The first set I get to show you today is called All Aboard For Christmas. It honestly does not get cuter than this! I just love how these little train cards can be mixed with the adorable contents to create fun combinations. I chose Santa’s train and then filled the cars with Newton and his reindeer friend. At first I was only going to do one car but I just could not stop coloring. So instead, I made a card that is 6″ x 4″ to accommodate the larger train. I chose my colors based on this designer paper from Stampin’ Up in classic Christmas colors so that I could make a coordinating envelope with my Envelope Punch Board for this non-standard card. And I didn’t have to leave off anything! Want to see the coloring closer?
If you love to color like I do, this is going to be a must have set. But this is only the beginning of the release. Because there is a fantastic sentiment set called Sentiments of the Season that is full of perfect outside and inside words for all your holiday cards. I am a sentiment hoarder (especially holiday ones) and this set made me jump for joy!
Just look at that pretty handwritten style on the Merry Christmas. Awesome! And the snowflakes, why yes you do spy one of the two new stencils. It is called Snowfall and it is great, don’t you think? I really wanted to show off the details of this stencil so I played around with a new to me product called Nuvo Gilding Flakes. They are pretty fun and I found that I could use them with my Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive. Super exciting for me to figure that out!! Want to see how I did it? I made a short video.
I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink and embossed it using gold embossing powder and I love how the two gold techniques coordinate. There is such a pretty patina that comes from the gilding flakes and I think they really show off all the details of the stencil. There is an additional stencil that is amazing for the holidays too. With all the ways stencils can be used, they are such a great investment!
So wow. This is day 1. I told you it was going to be quite a week, didn’t I?! I hope you’ll go visit the rest of the design team because their work today is extraordinary! Oh, and of course you have a chance to win. Because Newton’s Nook Designs is awesome like that!

Thanks for stopping in today and during this whole week. Make sure you stop back in tomorrow for Day 2 of the release. Copic Colors:
Stamps: All Aboard for Christmas (Newton’s Nook Designs), Sentiments of the Season (Newton’s Nook Designs); Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers, Versamark; Paper: Thick Whisper White (SU), Be Merry DSP (SU), Night of Navy (SU); Accessories: Big Shot, All Aboard for Christmas Dies (Newton’s Nook Designs), Land Border Dies (Newton’s Nook Designs), Snowfall Stencil (Newton’s Nook Designs), Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Nuvo Gold Gilding Flakes, Stitched Rectangles Dies (Simon Says Stamp), Envelope Punch Board
I am so happy to be able to share another great sketch with you today! The amazing Rita Wright is our sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches and she has one that will be fun for lots of interpretations. Rita always has the most incredible coloring and that inspired me to pull out my Copics for today.
I love this Poinsettia stamp from Simon Says Stamp and I wanted to try to make it a white version. (Red would have been pretty for this card too.) Coloring white is always hard so I played around to see if I could do it. On the flower I started with my light Toner Gray markers (T0, T2). While I liked the look, I decided that I needed a little more color to make the flower look realistic. So I added in a little bit of G20. I think over all it turned out pretty. The leaves from the set set were colored with a combination of green markers (G20, G24, YG61, YG17, YG67). To add just a little more color to the card, I used this pretty Be Merry DSP from Stampin’ Up. Love those speckles on the paper! The sentiment and banner are from the Be Merry Stamp Set and Dies from WPlus9. Finally, I thought I needed a little “something”, so I added some pearls to mimic the patten on the paper.
I have been busily stamping this week and getting ready to a new release from Newton’s Nook Designs. You can expect lots of fun next week! Until then, I hope you have a good week. See you soon!
Happy Wednesday to you! So you may notice that I’m posting the same card as I did last week. While I admit that I’m pretty partial to this one, the real reason is that we at Freshly Made Sketches needed to extend our challenge for another week.
You see, our link tool provider fell off the grid for a bit and with him, our gallery. Yikes! The quick thinking Jen Mitchell got us back up and running quickly but the previous gallery was no more. And we don’t want to miss any of the projects posted! So we are extending this sketch through another week. If you didn’t have time last week, come join us. If you did, we hope you’ll consider a second card!
I hope you enjoy this sketch. We have re-posted the inspiration from the whole team and the gallery is already looking gorgeous again. Thanks for all the understanding as we work to make sure playing along remains easy and fun for all. See you soon!
Supplies:
Stamp: July Paper Pumpkin Sentiment; Paper: Arches Watercolor Paper, Wood Textures DSP (SU); Ink: Early Espresso, Tim Holtz Oxide Ink; Accessories: Misti, Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Dies (SU), Autumn Leaves Dies (Newton’s Nook Designs), 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon (SU), Sequins (Honey Bee Stamps, Pretty Pink Posh)
Today is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog. I’m fully into all things fall at this point and, apparently, obsessed with leaves. Shades of Autumn was a natural for me to grab for today’s project.
I wanted to go with a monochromatic look but with something a little less expected. So I pulled out my Fog Gray paper from Simon Says Stamp and used the Falling Leaves Stencil with the new Embossing Paste from Stampin’ Up. I love the look of the leaves on the soft gray! The leaf from the stamp set was stamped in Smoky Slate (SU) and the veining of the leaf image shows up so beautifully!! I added a sentiment from the set. A great go-to sentiment!! Many time when I use grays, I’m drawn to use the Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and they work perfectly here.
I hope you like my card for today. With all that is happening in the world, make sure you take time to give thanks for the many people who mean so much to you. Glad you stopped in to see me. Hope to see you again soon!
Stamp: Shades of Autumn (Newton’s Nook Designs); Ink: Smoky Slate, Verafine Onyx Black; Paper: Thick Whisper White (SU), Fog Gray (SSS); Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Rectangles Dies (SSS), Misti, Sparklin Clear Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh), Dimensionals
Welcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop! Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things. Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy! If you hopped over from the incredible Allison Okamitsu, welcome to the next stop. For September, we have created 3D Holiday Projects. And oh, what inspiration awaits you!
I have to admit that I don’t make a lot of “alternate” projects with my monthly Paper Pumpkin subscription because I usually love them exactly as they are! And I did love the one we got for September for sure. But I saw an opportunity to show you something else with more of a Christmas flair if you decided to use all those leaves on other projects. This pillow box has the most lovely swirl detail that really lends itself to any occasion. Using my Flourish Thinlits, I cut flowers, leaves and berries from watercolor paper. Then, with an aqua painter, I quickly added Real Red to the flowers, Garden Green to the leaves and left the berries white. Super fast but the watercolor look is a little softer than having used the dies on card stock (but you could totally do that to save a step!). I cut the bottom set of leaves off of each stem to make them more proportional to the flow and then took the berry stem and cut it apart to give me two berry sets from one die cut. I put a Mini Dimensional under the center of the flower (the perfect size!) and attached the second flower to the top one. Then I used Glue Dots to attack the rest behind the center of the flowers. Using a Basic Pearl that was colored with a Copic Marker, I added a center that covered all that was underneath.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from Merry Café onto some more watercolor paper (to ensure a color match) and then cut it out with the oval die from the Coffee Cups Framelits. I set it up for the sentiment to sit a little low in the oval to allow room to cut a little hole with my 1/8″ Circle Punch to create a tag. Cute, right? I wrapped the box with Linen Thread and tied on the tag. I used some glue to attach the floral spray to the box (to make sure it stayed put!).
Those of you who know me, know that 3D projects are not my go-to thing. But Paper Pumpkin elements make it easy to look like a real pro! Don’t be afraid to think outside the, well, box on those! I hope you enjoy the rest of the hop. Next up is my friend, the always amazing Jeanna Bohanon.
Stamp: Merry Café (SU); Ink: Real Red, Garden Green; Paper: Canson Watercolor; Accessories: Paper Pumpkin September, Multi Matte Medium (as glue for the floral spray), Big Shot, Coffee Cups Framelits (SU), Linen Thread, 1/8″ Circle Punch
Happy Wednesday to you! I took a little bit of a break last week to catch up on home things and to even clean my stamp room. Seriously, it was out of control and I needed to reorganize before I could work in there anymore. I’m sure you have been there!
I’m the sketch hostess this week over at Freshly Made Sketches and I wanted to make a sketch that could be interpreted in a few different ways. I chose to go with it “as is” and made a little frame using my Stitched Shapes Framelits. If you follow the Newton’s Nook Designs newsletter, you saw how I created these leaves for yesterday’s “Designer’s Nook”. They use the Autumn Leaves Dies and are so pretty!! The background is the fabulous Wood Textures paper by Stampin’ Up (a go-to for fall, don’t you think?!). I added a piece of the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon as another layer of texture. The sentiment strip was cut from the same paper that I used for the leaves (where I had splattered ink) and this stamp is from the July Paper Pumpkin. Don’t forget how much those add to your sentiment repertoire! I found a few sequins in coordinating colors so of course I had to throw them on!
I hope you enjoy this sketch. The design team has tons of inspiration, as always, and I would love to see you in the gallery! Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you soon!
