Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Uplifting Wishes Stamp and Balloon Shaker Die

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Uplifting Wishes Stamp and Balloon Shaker Die published on 30 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Uplifting Wishes Stamp and Balloon Shaker Die

Welcome back for day 2 of the March Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  We are back with a pair that is sure to bring a smile.  Introducing the Uplifting Wishes Stamp Set and the coordinating Balloon Shaker Die.

Smile by Jen Timko | Uplifting Wishes Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Balloon Shaker Die by Newton's Nook Designs, 28 Lilac Lane SequinsIs there anyone that doesn’t love a shaker card?!  I think not!  I love the idea of a balloon shaker and today’s combination of products is fun for so many occasions.  I stamped this sentiment onto Shimmery White paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then cut it out using the outline balloon.  I cut another piece of the same white with the shaker border die.  I ran some of the double sided foam (NND) through with the shaker border die and the acetate (NND) through with the outline.  I ran some antistatic powder around the inside edge of the foam (to keep the sequins from sticking) and they put the whole thing together.  I think it takes longer to type up how to do it than to actually make this fun balloon!  Once my little shaker was together, all I had to do was put it on a fun background.  I used the Frames and Flags dies to layer these prints and tied on a little coordinating twine to finish the balloon before attaching it.

I hope you enjoy my card for today and I know you’ll enjoy the projects from the rest of the team.  Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Llama Delivery and Newton’s Candy Cane

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Llama Delivery and Newton’s Candy Cane published on 36 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Llama Delivery and Newton’s Candy Cane

Welcome to the last day of the November Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  This release week is a shortened a bit due to the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday but we get to share two new sets again today!  And….there is a Black Friday sale on release day.  Yay for sales!

Special Delivery by Jen Timko | Llama Delivery Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Zig Clean Color Pens, FMS314I’m starting off today’s reveal with a card that doubles as my Freshly Made Sketches card this week.  The  queen of perfect layering, Narelle Farrugia, created this fun sketch that worked perfectly with this super new Llama Delivery stamp set.  While this set can work great for the holidays, I chose to make it into a birthday card.  I have some family members with December birthdays and it is always nice to have a card with nary a holiday color in sight.  Using my Zig Clean Color Markers, I colored these images and then cut them out with the coordinating dies.  I love, love, love this llama!!  The sentiment from the set fit well with the sketch too.

Sweet Holiday Tag by Jen Timko | Newton's Candy Cane Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Fancy Edges Tag Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringI can hardly even contain my excitement over the last set for our reveals this month.  As always, we have Newton.  And this holiday version is simply adorable.  I chose the striped paper with splatters for my layering tag and then colored the image to match.  This little guy just steals my heart!!  I even added some splatters to his hat and scarf to mimic the paper.  What a great time I had coloring with my Copics on him  The new Fancy Edges Tag Dies are great for quick take and I love how you can choose different ways to add interest with the accessories.  It is simply a must have for holiday packaging!

This week of reveals seems to have flown by but that means you are really close to being ready to shop.  As per normal, these will all be available on Friday with the advantage of a Black Friday sale to make shopping even more fun.  And now on to one last chance to win!!

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Stylish Stockings and Reindeer Roll Call

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Stylish Stockings and Reindeer Roll Call published on 34 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Stylish Stockings and Reindeer Roll Call

Happy day 3 of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  And yes, it is also Freshly Made Sketches day.  So I combined two of my favorite things into one post!  This holiday release from Newton’s Nook is going to continue to amazing you as, yet again, we have TWO stamps to share with you.

FMS309 by Jen Timko | Stylish Stockings Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Be Merry DSP by Stampin' UpI am going to start with the Stylish Stockings Stamp Set and the coordinating dies since I used it with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.  I love the sweet designs on these little stockings and the adorable stitched details for them.  I stamped them using Altenew’s Ruby Red ink and just look at how those tiny details show perfectly.  All I had to do was stamp the sentiment on a stitched circle and add some festive patterned paper.  Stamps like this make your holiday cards easy to reproduce and such fun to make!

Reindeer Chalk Board by Jen Timko | Reindeer Roll Call Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Corrugated Paper, Chalk BoardNext up is Reindeer Roll Call.  What an awesome idea this stamp is!!  As soon as I saw it, I thought chalk board card so I just had to give it a try.  I stamped using Versamark ink on a textured black card stock and then heat embossed with WOW Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder.  I added the little snowflakes and one of the reindeer from the stamp set to accent the names and embossed them too.  I cut the panel out with a cross-stitched rectangle die and added a few rhinestones that I colored with a red Copic marker.  To give it that chalk board look, I tapped on a little bit of white craft ink with a sponge.  Then, I cut out some Corrugated Kraft card stock using a cross-stitched rectangle and added this great 7/8″ Striped Ribbon from Stampin’ Up as an accent.  You’ll notice a theme with these card today….makable!  Because when it comes to holiday cards, I generally like the make a few of each style!

I just know you are going to love the projects from the entire Newton’s Nook team today and don’t forget to take a look at all the inspiration at Freshly Made Sketches too!  Of course, the post isn’t complete without a chance to win!

Freshly Made Sketches #300

Freshly Made Sketches #300 published on 9 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #300

FMS300 by Jen Timko | Vibrant Thanks Stamp by Power Poppy, Floral Boutique DSP by Stampin' Up, Layered Leaves Embossing Folder by Stampin' UpSo today is a very special day for the whole team at Freshly Made Sketches.  We have hit another milestone and we are thrilled to celebrate!  Sketch #300!!  WOW!  I’m personally just in awe of the inspiration that all the players over the years have given.  I might be a little biased but this has been an amazing challenge from the very beginning.  And yes….I actually played along on Sketch #1.  I even got chosen as a Perfect Princess by my friend Linda (I knew I loved her, haha!!!).  Jen Mitchell, Linda Callahan and Rita Wright have been on the team since the beginning and we have had amazing stampers with us along the way.  What a privilege it is to work with people who are not only extraordinarily talented but also are simply incredible people!!

So that was my inspiration for today’s card.  The sentiment pretty much says it all (it is from the gorgeous new Vibrant Thanks by Power Poppy)!  Thanks to you, my blog readers, and to all who play along each week and keep this challenge fresh week after week.  I enjoy seeing your creations, and watching as you all grow in your crafting along with us.  After all, we are first and foremost enablers!  I used this beautiful paper from last year’s Stampin’ Up Catalog (this year’s catalog features a fresh version in the new In Colors).  I love how the leaves in the paper coordinate with the new Layered Leaves embossing folder so I combined them for the panels.  I added some Navy twine that I unravelled to give it a looser look.  I even lined the envelope with designer paper to make it extra special.

And I really tried to make this extra special since one of our players this week will win all the cards created by the team for this challenge.  I know.  And I already asked if I could enter again….  Apparently it would look suspicious if I won.  *smile*  I continue to be astonished at how different cards can be that are created from the same sketch and the design team has created a beautiful variety for you this week.  I very much hope you will have time to join us in our celebration.  Having a hard time not getting too “sappy” (as my kids call me) so I’ll leave it there.  I’ll see you in the gallery.

Supplies:

Stamp:  Vibrant Thanks (Power Poppy); Paper:  Thick Whisper White (SU), Floral Boutique DSP (SU); Ink:  Night of Navy; Accessories: Big Shot, Layered Leaves Embossing Folder (SU), Ovals Dies (SU ret), Night of Navy Twine (SU ret), Misti

Newton’s Nook Designs Plus Studio Katia – Summer Fun

Newton’s Nook Designs Plus Studio Katia – Summer Fun published on 43 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs Plus Studio Katia – Summer Fun

Welcome to the Summer Fun Collaboration Blog hop with Newton’s Nook Designs and Studio Katia! Both teams are celebrating the start of summer with fun and colorful cards using stamps from Newton’s Nook Designs and dies and embellishments from Studio Katia. There’s prizes too! Both companies have a prize to give away too so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!Did Someone Say Cake Card by Jen Timko | Newton Loves Cake Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Sequins from Studio Katia, Dotted Shaker Tag Die by Studio KatiaMy first thought when I saw the summer theme was a birthday card.  Maybe because it is because my oldest son is a “beginning of summer” baby, haha!  But something about these bright happy sequins from Studio Katia and this adorable tag die screamed birthday to me.  After consulting with my youngest son (this card was from him for his brother), we chose the Newton Loves Cake stamp to color for the card.  I love this little Newton and I colored his cupcake with Copics to match the sequins.  Adorable!!  This tag die makes creating a shaker super easy too.Cake Tag Closeup by Jen Timko | Newton Loves Cake Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Dotted Shaker Tag by Studio KatiaWith the black card stock, it was hard to see the tag details in my full picture so I wanted to show you a closeup too.  I created my own mix of sequins with the Sunny Side Up, Enchanted Sea and Lipstick Red Sequins.  I have to admit that Newton looks pretty proud of his giant cupcake, don’t you think?!  Again, little brother thought the striped paper behind the tag made the card look like a “boy card” so I trusted his judgement.  I tied on some red ribbon and black baker’s twine to finish the tag.  The verdict???  As soon as the birthday boy picked up the envelope, he knew it was a shaker card.  And apparently even 14 year old boys who are very, very cool cannot resist shaking a shaker card!  *smile*  Now you need to get on with the hop but first…

We are giving away TWO prizes – one prize pack from Studio Katia and one $25 store credit from Newton’s Nook Designs!

Here’s how to win:

Freshly Made Sketches #286

Freshly Made Sketches #286 published on 8 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #286

FMS286 by Jen Timko | Butterflies Thinlets by Stampin' Up, WatercolorOh yes we do have another wonderful sketch today at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the amazing Narelle and this is a classic go-to sketch for sure.

I started with the intention of using a stitched circle under the butterfly but once I had the butterfly cut, I realized I liked it by itself.  I used my Winsor and Newton watercolor paints for all the coloring on this. First I simply painted a piece of watercolor paper with the pretty Turquoise and cut it out using the Butterflies Thinlits.  Then I painted on the swooshes using Cadmium Yellow and Alizarin Crimson.  The nice thing about paints is that when you let the layers dry, the colors don’t blend and you can get them to layer nicely.  Super simple and no real drawing talent required (but I still FEEL like an artist when I use the paints, haha).  I added a sentiment from an old Paper Pumpkin set because I love this font and, well, it is always nice to have birthday cards on hand.  A few little sequins for a small extra touch.

I know this will be another stunning gallery (they always are) and I hope you’ll have time to play along with us.  Thanks so much for stopping in today!  See you soon!

Fancy Friday – Speechless!

Fancy Friday – Speechless! published on 8 Comments on Fancy Friday – Speechless!

Welcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop!  Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things.  Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy!  If you hopped over from one of my crafty heroes Cathy Caines, welcome to the next stop.  For April, we are focusing on the gorgeous artwork and images in the stamp sets.  Sometimes pictures speak louder without words!FF April by Jen Timko | Butterfly Basics Stamp by Stampin' Up, No Line WatercolorI chose this gorgeous flower image from the Butterfly Basic stamp set as my focal point.  I thought it would be fun to try coloring it using the no-line watercolor technique.  I’m still working on this but I am pretty happy with the end result here.  One of the best parts of stamping is that there is always something new to learn!!  After I colored the flowers, I added a few pretty little details.  First some lace trim (this one is retired but SU always has the most amazing ribbons and trims) and then I added some Linen Thread.  The base is Crumb Cake, one of my favorite neutrals.  I added some Basic Pearls too, because, well, I love them!

Now on to the rest of the hop!  These talented stampers are going to inspire you for sure!  Next up is the lovely Sue Plote.

FMS285 by Jen Timko | Beautiful Ride by Simon Says Stamp, You've Got This by Stampin' Up, Copic Coloring, BicycleHow did a week already pass?  Welcome back for another Wednesday and a great challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is the lovely Amy O’Neill, queen of beautiful color combinations, and she has a great sketch for us.

I had this bicycle stamp (Beautiful Ride from Simon Says Stamp) out because my youngest son was working on a Peeps diorama.  Let’s face it, crafty tools make dioramas a little more tolerable.  He had to choose a country in Europe that they are studying and create a scene.  He opted for the Tour de France aka Le Tour de Peeps.  The bike images and dies were particularly handy! Tour de Peeps | Beautiful Ride stamp by Simon Says StampSince the stamp was out on my desk, it seemed like the perfect fit for my card.  I colored it with Copic markers and then added some of the accessory images.  The background comes from a SU set called You’ve Got This and I love the fun scribbled look to it.  I stamped it using some Distress Ink after stamping off some.  The sentiment is from the bike set.

I’m linking this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge since they have an “Anything Goes” theme this week.  Also, they are featuring Newton’s Nook Designs so you can bet I’ll be playing again this week!

I hope you have fun with this one.  As always the team has such a variety of projects and you are sure to be inspired.  Hope you have a great day!

Fancy Friday – Step Up Sketch Challenge

Fancy Friday – Step Up Sketch Challenge published on 5 Comments on Fancy Friday – Step Up Sketch Challenge

Welcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop!  Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things.  Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy!  If you hopped over from the amazing Erica Cerwin, welcome to the next stop.  For March, we have double the fun!  Not only do we have a sketch but we have a step it up challenge.  Making a basic card and a stepped up version!  It is going to be a fun hop!

Fancy Friday March by Jen Timko | Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set and Flourish Thinlits by Stampin' UpSo here are my cards together but I also took photos of them separately so you can see the details better.  Both versions are still “clean” but the stepped up version has a bit more wow to it.

FF Mar Flourish Basic by Jen Timko | Flourishing Phrases and Flourish Thinlits by Stampin' UpFor my first card I used the sketch as my guide.  I love the new Stitched Shapes Thinlits and they worked perfectly here.  I stamped the leaves from the stamp set in Night of Navy then cut a flower with the coordinating thinlits to go with them.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.  When you have a card that is super clean, every detail matters.  Bold contrast (like the navy and white) really catches the eye and the bit of stitching helps the card feel finished.  The Basic Pearl in the flower’s center adds a special touch.

FF Mar Flourish Stepped Up by Jen Timko | Flourishing Phrases and Flourish Thinlits by Stampin' Up, Floral Boutique DSP, Stitched Shapes, VellumFor my stepped up version, I added a few more elements.  First I cut a frame with my stitched squares and then also cut a square from both White Vellum Card Stock and Floral Boutique DSP (the polka dots).  I layered them up and attached them together.  The vellum helps the DSP not take over the card and you can still see the flower.  This time, I cut both the flower and the leaves from with the Flourish Thinlits and then added them to the square.  The sentiment remains the same as above, as does the pearl.  But I decided it needed more accessorizing so I added some Night of Navy Solid Baker’s Twine.  For both cards, I used my Envelope Punch Board to round the corners (those little punches are so handy on that board!).

I hope you like both of my cards and the sketch.  I think the team is going to impress you with their creativity!  And let’s face it, these ladies are all about stepping it up!

Now for the rest of the hop!  I’m telling you….this team is the most talented group.  You will be so inspired as you go along.  Next up is my amazing friend Cindy Schuster.  She is one of my favorite stampers and one of the nicest people you could ever meet!

Freshly Made Sketches #281

Freshly Made Sketches #281 published on 10 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #281

FMS281 by Jen Timko | Work of Art Stamp Set by Stampin' Up, Stitched ShapesAnother super fun sketch is up this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week, the super talented Kim Singdahlsen is our hostess and her sketch is really unique.  It is always fun to see what the team comes up with and this one really got me to thinking.

I love when a sketch inspires me to go look hard at my stamps to see what jump out and this Stampin’ Up set called Work of Art practically leapt off the shelf.  The watercolor styled swoosh is tailor made for the sketch.  All I had to do was choose the ink colors.  I went for this happy spring trio of Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo because they seem to be my go-to palette these days.  Seasonal stamper’s disorder….choosing the colors of the season….although it seems that I have been stamping in spring for the entire winter too, haha! This sentiment is in my personal sentiment hall of fame (I may be guilty of sentiment hoarding collecting).  The perfect message and one that many need to hear.  I stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black and then cut it out using the Stitched Shapes circle from SU.  The whole panel was cut using Stitched Rectangles from Simon Says Stamp and put on a base of Thick Whisper White.  I added some enamel dots because they, too, were calling out to join the fun.

I hope that you have a good time with this sketch.  I anticipate a gallery full of creative work.  The Design Team will start you off right so make sure you go take a look at their amazing cards.  I’ll be back on Friday with this month’s Fancy Friday hop.  Hint…their just may be a sketch!!  Yippee!
