Jen Timko - Pottery Inspired FloralsI am thrilled to finally share with you that I have been working on a Product Review for Splitcoaststampers over the last few weeks.  I’m sure you already know that Splitcoaststampers is always on the leading edge in looking for the latest and greatest in products, helping put focus on talented designers and a one-stop-shop for inspiration and information!  What a privilege it is to get the call about doing a review for something new!

For this round I am reviewing a new ink offering from Clearsnap called the Colorbox 4-Color Premium Dye Ink.  It configures a color family of inks all into one box to make your stamping convenient and allow you to have perfectly coordinated colors with simply one box.  Hop right over to the Product Focus page and you can see all the reviews and projects from the whole Product Review Team!

For my project today, I used the Summer palette’s blue to create this pretty card.  I was inspired by a cool piece of pottery I saw on Pinterest that reminded me of the Detailed Floral Thinlets (picture below).  I just had to see if I could mimic the look.  Here is the video tutorial showing you the how-to:

FMS245 - Happy BirdsI am so happy to be able to share our adorable sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  This one is such fun and lends itself to so many things….DSP, colored panels, great focal images.  Should not come as a surprise that the incredible Jen Mitchell is this week’s sketch hostess!

I opted to focus on a fun stamp from WPlus9’s Happy Birds.  These birds still just crack me up!  I  colored him using my Zig Clean Color Markers (just two colored needed).  I chose zig-zag print from Pop of Pink DSP (SU) and cut it a using Border Builders die from Lil’ Inkers.  The focal panel was cut with a Stitched Rectangles die (SSS).  I chose a sentiment from Paper Pumpkin….I know….those seem to be my go-to lately but they really are so trendy and great!  I finally topped it with a few sequins.

FMS Final 245-001I hope you have a great time with this one.  Guessing the gallery will be just loaded with inspiration!!  I’ll be back tomorrow with a new card that has a Product Review for Splitcoaststampers.  It even included a video tutorial so I hope you’ll stop in!  See you soon!

Fancy Friday – Back to the 80s!

Fancy Friday – Back to the 80s! published on 7 Comments on Fancy Friday – Back to the 80s!

FF Jun - Lucky StarWelcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop!  Our team is a group of demonstrators who love to make beautiful things.  Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy!  If you hopped over from my amazing friend Connie, welcome to the next stop.  For May, our theme is Back to the 80s!  Yep, you read that right!  Bright colors, big hair, bigger shoulder pads and, my inspiration for today, Madonna!

14af8df5e7b18380857faee7396d2291Just take a look at this picture of her!  By the time you are done with my post, you too will be singing Lucky Star in your head.  You can thank me any time!! I started off pondering the thought of acid washed jeans.  And I really pondered why we all thought it was a good idea.  But we did.  So why not play around with the new In Color Dapper Denim to see how denim-like it really is.  Well if you add a little bleach in splatters, apparently it is really like denim.  AWESOME!  Then I got a little crazier and actually stamped using bleach too.  The new Flourishing Phrases had a perfect little sentiment to try.  Now this is a red rubber stamp and I’m pretty sure the bleach is tough enough on that.  I strongly discourage you from trying it with a photopolymer stamp.  Pretty sure you would not be happy with the result!  Even still, right after stamping I cleaned it first with water and then with Stampin’ Mist and then again with water.  I kept up the Madonna theme by pulling out lace things from my stash because it was all about lace and pearls and layered accessories if you were going to do the Madonna fashion trend!  These are all retired SU things that I have hoarded kept safe for just the right project and this just had to be it!  The Tea Lace Doily just retired and there is a new even fancier version.  The lace is from a kit (Artisan, I think) and the gold star clip was perfect to complete my Madonna theme.  I added a star punched from Gold Foil to add a little more focus there.  So….how did I do??  Are you singing Lucky Star yet??? Please tell me you know the song so I don’t feel too old!!

FMS242 - Copper HelloWe have an awesome week for you over at Freshly Made Sketches!  To start, we have a super fun sketch that you are sure to love.  It comes from our resident queen of layers and fussy cutting…the lovely Narelle!  And we also have a great announcement!  GUEST DESIGNERS!!  And in true FMS style, you are going to be wow’d by these two stampers!!

First to my card.  I am all in on copper!  I mean seriously ALL IN!!!  Stampin’ Up has new copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and Copper Metallic Thread in the new catty and it is so pretty.  Coppery, kind of rose gold-ish….and gorgeous!  I kept this card super clean to show it off!  I stamped using the great flower from Flourishing Phrases in Versamark Ink onto White Vellum Card Stock and heat embossed the image with the Copper EP.  Then I cut this little flower our using the coordinating Flourish Thinlits from Thick WW Card Stock.  I “smooshed” the flower into Versamark and heat embossed it too.  To get it nice and thick and metallic looking, I re-stamped and re-embossed.  It looks just like it was cut from a piece of metal.  I layered the white banner piece under the sentiment to help it pop more.  The hardest part of this card is securing it together.  We all know that vellum is particularly fussy on that.  I used Glue Dots that were folded in half (ish) and tucked them under the bases of the flowers in the stamped image and on the die cut too.  There is also one under the ‘o’ in Hello.  One more note: this copper is way prettier than in the picture.  Something about metallics and sparkles that never quite photograph true.

Now to our guest stampers!  Shannon Jaramillo and Cécile Ribon have bravely agreed to join our happy little band of enablers through the summer!  In fairness, I did warn them to hold on to their wallets but I have it on good authority that they might be enablers themselves!!  *smile*  We are so happy to have them with us!  Make sure you go check out their work along with that of the rest of the DT.  Beautiful!

I’ll be back on Friday with the latest from Fancy Friday.  We have a doozy of theme this month so you won’t want to miss it!  Until then, thanks for stopping in!

FMS241 - Wedding WishesAnother week has flown by!  I think maybe because my mom was here and we were busy, busy, busy!!  *smile*  We did some stamping that I’ll share with you soon but she helped me create my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge too.  Our sketch hostess this week is the amazing Karren Johnson and she has a classic one for us this week.  As you can imagine, the team has all kinds of variations that are super fun!

The minute I saw this sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to use!!  This gorgeous (and I mean seriously gorgeous) die set is from the new Stampin’ Up Catalog.  I have not seen anything really like it before and I’m in love!  Ok….it is a flower so it really should not surprise anyone how much I love it, haha!!  There are many ways to use the Detailed Floral Thinlits and the coordinating Floral Phrases stamp set but I stuck to the color combination in the catty because I love it so much.  For the record, I bought the whole suite!  I cut the bottom part using a 4″ wide piece of Thick Whisper White and then used the edge piece to put a similar border on the top.  Using only the border die, I cut the edge of some Night of Navy and cut the rest down to fit behind the floral cutouts.  So striking!  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set in Night of Navy.  Then for the circle.  I kept thinking it just needed a bow since it a wedding card so I used retired White Seam Binding (I’m guessing you still have a stash of this too) to make a shabby bow.  It is the perfect touch!!

FMS Final 241-001I’m on a trip this week (sitting in Chicago on a delay as I type) but hope to share more with you later this week from my stamping with mom.  Until then, I hope you enjoy this look at the new products!  Let me know if you need more info on this suite or any other!  Make sure you go check out the rest of the cards from the DT too.  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

FMS240 - Sending WishesOh do we have some fun for you this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  The lovely Jennifer Brum has created this fun sketch that will make you run right to your DSP supply!  So many ways to play around with this one!

So I figured I should show you one of the new paper packs from Stampin’ Up called Pop of Pink.  And let’s face it, if you are going to show off paper with that name, you have to go all in on the pink!!  Melon Mambo to be specific!  Aren’t these prints fun??  I chose three of them that I thought would, well, pop against the background and they are fabulous!  The whole pack is amazing!  Some of the prints have gold in them too.  Oh my!  I grabbed a sentiment from Butterfly Basics and stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  A few sequins in the paper colors (including gold) for a little bling.

Just a reminder….my card auction to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation is still open.  Please consider a bid.  The cards and the details are here:  Blogs for Boobies Auction

I’m enjoying some fun with my mom in town this week and I think we will get some stamping time in later today (after swim team and some other fun summer stuff).  Hoping to share more soon!  See you then!
