I am over at the SugarPea Designs blog today with a card using one of my favorite sets from the last release, Floral Envie.
I stamped in Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with Wow White embossing powder. Then I pulled out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I had not used them in a long time and forgot how much I enjoy them. With the white embossing, I worked to keep the colors light and airy.
I love the Everyday Sentiments stamp set too. I’m a fan of work horse sentiment sets, as you know, and this has pretty much everything! And the SugarCut Sentiment Strips dies to cut them all out makes this a powerhouse duo. I hope that you will hop over to the SugarPea blog and say hi there (and poke around for lots more inspiration from my fellow designers). Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon!
So you may have noticed (especially if you follow me in Instagram) that I have been trying hard to participate in the Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge as much as possible this month. I really am trying to eek out more coloring, even if only for a few minutes. So this card is a reflection of that as I found the perfect way to use the sketch by Karren Johnson for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Karren is an amazing Copic colorist and this sketch lends itself to colored images, bold panels and word dies, among other things.
I chose to use this new Mondo Gerbera Daisy by Ellen Hutson as my focal image. I stamped in black ink and then colored it with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I chose a number of corals/reds/pinks to play with the shading on the flower. It didn’t take long and I love it. The flower reminds me of the Gerbera Daisies my dad would grow when I was little. There is something velvety and special about these flowers and I was thrilled that Ellen came out with this one.
A super quick post today. I’m back at work this week and it seems harder that usual after spending time at my mom’s last week. Off to bed to be ready for winter weather fun tomorrow! I hope you have a great day and will play along this week. See you soon.
Hello my friends. I’m going to start off with a brief explanation. I know that my posting right now seems to come inconsistently. The truth is, I’m working very hard on balancing a lot of things. The biggest of them has been my mom’s estate. My mom lived in Orlando and I’m not there. That makes things hard since there are many decisions to be made and many beloved treasures to be sorted. So I’m going down there as much as I can to help handle that. When added to my flying schedule, I admit that my blog is the thing that seems to get the short end of my attention. I promised more details on my PFS January release and then promptly didn’t provide them all. I’m so sorry. Please forgive my distraction. The last trip was highly emotional for me and I’m truthfully feeling a bit overwhelmed. But stamping helps. And my family is the best. I’ll find my new normal soon but until the estate is handled, I think this is my normal. Thank you for your patience and support. It means the world.
And with that, I’m on to this week’s FMS card. I love this sketch by the lovely Kim Singdahlsen. It is fresh and clever! And, as usual, I think I may have stretched it a little too far. But whatever comes out of my head when I’m crafting is what I go with these days.
I love the Be a Unicorn of the Sea set by Picket Fence Studios and I thought it might be fun for the sketch. But what about the diagonals? Oh yeah….the new stencils!! And an idea was born. The Sunburst Stencil seemed perfect when I chose a few select “beams” and inked them with Distress Ink using the Life Changing Blender Brushes. I chose one of the small brushes because it fits in the beams perfectly without me having to tape and cover the others. Nice and simple! I inked up another piece of Bristol and then cut it out with a stitched circle as a background for my narwhal.
I have to confess that I love narwhal images. And this set is the BEST! The sentiments are such fun and useful for so many occasions. They are encouraging and kind!! I colored the narwhal with my Zigs to coordinate and then chose some Audrey Blue (SSS) as a background to make the colors pop. I love the Shark Bite Sequins too so of course I added a few.
Thank you so much for stopping in today. I’m grateful you choose to spend a few moments of your day with me. Make sure you hop over to see the inspiration from the whole team. See you soon!
I have two more cards to share with you today that I created for the Picket Fence Studios new release. I have had such fun with the new sets and will be sharing more with you over the next weeks too. Today, I’m focusing on Santa and his reindeer. Two adorable sets! And don’t forget my GIVEAWAY….see my post from Sunday to enter.
I love all the Santa images in the Santa’s mischief set and the sentiments are awesome too. Lots of possibilities for fun cards! I fell in love with the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge #289 and thought it wold be fun to use for this card. I stamped Santa in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored him with my Copics. I thought the Framework Dies were a great shape for the sketch and used it to cut some of the Festive Farmhouse paper (SU). I added a sentiment from the set onto some Wood Textures paper (SU) and then layered on the elements.
For my second card, I chose three of the reindeer from Santa’s Sleigh Ride and watercolored them with Zig Clean Color Pens. Using a mask that I created with the Land Borders Dies I added a distress ink background with my Life Changing Blender Brushes. And yes, they really are THAT good!! Super smooth and absolutely zero brush or blending lines! I put the panel on a base of School House Red card stock and added the sentiment onto a banner. It is embossed with Wow Bright White Embossing Powder.
I hope you enjoy these cards and don’t forget to enter for my giveaway!! See you soon!
Welcome to the last of the June Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Our favorite feline is back to cap off the week and you are sure to love this adorable set.
If you are a cat person, you probably had a “kneader” in your house, I certainly do. Little Kate is a chirpy purr kneader. So I just had to use this sentiment. I decided to color this one up to look like the real Newton. I do love an orange kitty and the pictures of Newton are always so sweet. I colored him using Zig Clean Color Markers and added the little white hat (because it is just so cute!!). I pulled out a pack of designer paper and found this orange print that seemed perfect to go behind our kitty friend.
All the images in this new set are great…especially if you love to cook as well! So you know what time it is…hop around to the whole DT and make sure leave comments for your chance to win.

I love the new sketch that we have from Freshly Made Sketches this week!! The lovely Narelle has given us such a great one and I knew I had to use flowers…because, well, Narelle is the queen of gorgeous flower cards. This pretty stamp set seem tailor-made for the sketch so I just went with the easy choice.
Banner in Bloom has such wonderful images and this banner with the flowers is an easy go-to. I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and colored with Zig Clean Color Markers. The pretty pastels seemed just right for the image and I love how they looked agains the Fog Gray color from Simon Says Stamp. To add to the sketch elements (that were really already incorporated in the image), I thought it would be nice to add a bit of black metallic thread behind the banner. The card seemed a little too clean (even for me) so I pulled out an old favorite embossing folder called Softly Falling to add a little bit of texture. What a difference that makes!
And there you have it! Fun coloring and a sweet little card for my stash. I’m busy stamping this week for some upcoming projects. Can’t wait to share them all. Until next time, thanks so much for stopping in!
Welcome to day 2 of the May Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we get to share another floral set and I’m thrilled to introduce Peony Blooms. And do I ever love peonies!!
I was totally inspired by my own peonies that are blooming right now. These flowers are so special that I decided to keep the rest of the card pretty simple. I stamped the image onto Bristol Smooth paper and colored using Zig Clean Color Markers. A few shades of each color was all I needed.
After coloring the flowers, I cut them out with the coordinating die. Then I cut a frame from the Framework Dies (shown yesterday). This scalloped frame is really wonderful, don’t you think? I added a sentiment from the stamp set (LOVE this style of script) and then popped the frame and the flowers up on foam tape. I added a few colored pearls that I thought were pretty with the image. Mostly, I didn’t want to do anything to take away from the beautiful art of these flowers!!
And speaking of flowers, here are my gorgeous peonies from over the weekend. Yep, the timing on this stamp set could not be better. Now let’s go see what the rest of the team created! Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week. A chance to win!!

Welcome to the last day of the April Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. This has been an amazing month and we are finishing off with style!! Two, yes two, more stamp sets to show you today. Woohoo!! Both of these are just what you need to bring a little spring sunshine into your craft room!
First up is Little Lilies. I love these sweet little flowers so much and literally ran right down to stamp with it when it arrived on my doorstep. I colored the flower with my Zig Clean Color Markers and then cut it out with the coordinating dies.
I added just a little touch of light gray and green on the ends of the flowers to give a little dimension to the white flowers. Onto a base of Bristol Smooth paper, I swirled on a little bit of Distress Ink and sprinkled it with water. I am a big fan of a “just because” card since I can use them for so many things so I chose it for my sentiment. The flower went perfectly with this little scalloped circle frame so I added that and then the flower on top. I dug through and found a few sequins to finish the card.
The second set for today is called April Showers. I have to tell you, I am SERIOUSLY hoping this sentiment is true!! I am done with winter weather and really ready for some flowers and butterflies! I used a yellow embossing powder on vellum for the sentiment and then cut it out with a banner die. I pulled out my trusty sewing machine (see, mom, I still know how to use it!!) and stitched the banner onto some Wood Textures paper. It is a little hard to see in the big picture so I’m giving you a close up of the little beads that I attached to the centers of the flowers and onto the banner. I used the Multi-Medium Matte Glue for those. There are additional images that are super cute that go with the sentiment and I’m sure the DT has some great examples with those.
I hope that you have enjoyed all of my cards this week. I very much enjoy hearing from you in the comments and your kind words always bring a smile. Thanks for letting me be a part of your day! Now for your chance to win!!

Welcome to day 3 of the April Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. I hope you are having fun with the reveals so far. Today, we have an absolutely darling set that is super clever and sure to bring a smile. It is called Umbrella Pals.
So all the umbrellas in the stamp set are little critters and it is such fun to use!! I thought these two bears worked great together! I colored them with my Zig Clean Color markers and then created the background with the markers too. To do that, I scribbled some of the ink on a clear blog and spritzed with a bit of water, the put the block on my paper. I did this a few times to get the layered look on the background.
I thought it would be fun to add a bit of sunshine under the umbrella with the yellow as a nod to the sentiment. As an additional bit of brightness, I put the colored layer onto a yellow base so that the recipient gets that extra surprise of color when they open the card. I thought a few clear drops would be appropriate for the gray section able the umbrellas.
I hope you enjoy today’s card and I know you will love the DT’s projects. Now for your chance to win!!

Happy middle of the week to you! I am the sketch hostess today over at Freshly Made Sketches and I hope I created a sketch that will be fun for everyone.
With that big panel, I thought it was the perfect time to pull out a big stamp. Dahlia XL from Power Poppy to be exact. I stamped the flower in Versafine Black and colored with my Zig markers. I don’t think I made an actual color combination for a dahlia, but hey…artistic interpretation! *smile* I just wanted to make a bright and happy card and I think this does the job. The sentiment is from the set too and works perfectly for the little panel on the sketch. For the yellow strip, I used some washi tape and put it on a piece of white paper. You get all the effect of the washi but it looks a bit more tailored.
I hope you enjoy the sketch and will consider joining us! The design team has done amazing things with my sketch…I’m always in awe of the different looks all from the same sketch. I’ll be back on Friday with a fun post for Newton’s Nook. Until then, have a great day!
