Freshly Made Sketches #359

Freshly Made Sketches #359 published on 7 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #359

Happy Wednesday!!  Today is Freshly Made Sketches day and I’m happy to share a classic sketch with you for the week.  This one by Narelle is simply a go-to winner!  LOVE it!

FMS359 by Jen Timko | Layering Leaves Dies by Concord and 9th, Give Thanks Stamp Set by Concord and 9th, Daniel Smith Watercolors, Wonky Stitched Dies by MFT StampsIn a surprise move, I actually opted not to use flowers for the circle elements.  That is usually where my brain goes but given that fall seems to be wanting to finally show up, I decided leaves were decidedly more appropriate.  And what better leaves to use that the Concord and 9th Layering Leaves Dies?!  They are gorgeous and perfect!  I cut the leaves from watercolor paper first.  Then, using Daniel Smith watercolors, I painted them with fall colors.  If you have never used these high quality paints, I linked a palette of these watercolors below.  This is a perfect way to try them (and fall in love with them!) with virtually no commitment.  I love the sentiment from the coordinating Give Thanks stamp set because, well, it is true.  At least when it actually acts like fall.  Which has been not at all this year.  I thought the Wonky Stitched Dies were a nice look with the style of the leaves and I used it on Gray Granite cardstock (SU).

You are going to be in awe when you take a look at all the design team created! I think they just knocked it out of the park this week.  There are so many ways to interpret this sketch and I’m certain the gallery will be full of inspiration too.  I hope you will join us and share your creation.  We love seeing what you make!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card using October release products from Picket Fence Studios.  So glad you stopped in today.  See you soon!

FMS344 by Jen Timko | Floral Phrases Stamp Set by Stampin' UpHappy 4th of July!!!  For all of you in the US, I hope you have a happy and safe celebration.  We are off to a baseball game and to see fireworks in downtown DC.  Should be a very classic celebration for us!  But it is also Wednesday and we have a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  The lovely Cécile Ribon is our hostess this week and the sketch is perfect for her clean but always intricate style.

My card uses the Floral Phrases stamp set from Stampin’ Up.  A set that I have loved from the moment I first saw it!  I love these flowers on the angle for the sketch!!  I stamped onto Thick Whisper White with some Lawn Fawn ink in Mermaid.  The sentiment is from the same set and I simply layered banners.  I thought it needed a little a little something extra so I added some pearls.  It was just what the card needed for me!

Some fun news from FMS!  Our July Guest Designer is revealed today and it is my wonderful friend Caly Person.  If you don’t know her, you should!  Go check out her card for today then hop over to see her blog.  Short and sweet today.  Must get to the ball park early, after all!  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Coffee and Wine plus Wine a Little (and some FMS)

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Coffee and Wine plus Wine a Little (and some FMS) published on 32 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Coffee and Wine plus Wine a Little (and some FMS)

Welcome to day 3 of the June Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  Busy, busy bees we are today because the team has two sets to feature!!  And there is wine.  Because…Wednesday!  I have some Freshly Made Sketches too…also because Wednesday.

Coffee and Wine by Jen Timko | Coffee and Wine Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Serene Stripes Stencil by Newton's Nook DesignsAs with yesterday, the stencil was the start of my design.  Today, I chose the Serene Stripes Stencil and sponged on some Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink over it.  I just made it fade a bit as it went down the card.  I love stencils!!!  So much wow!  I stamped the sentiment from the Coffee and Wine over the stenciling and then stamped some of the images (all of this was onto Bristol Vellum card stock).  I colored the cup and bottle with some more Distress Ink and then popped them up on foam dots (Dimensionals).  I found some sequins that matched (YAY!) so I added those and then put the whole layer on a black base.

Sip Happens by Jen Timko | Wine a Little Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, FMS 342For my second card, I used the fun sketch designed by Amy O’Neill for Freshly Made Sketches to show off the Wine a Little stamp set and dies.  This sentiment (and the others in the set) are such fun and perfect for any wino oenophile.  Like me.  I created pretty glasses that I’d love to have and filled them with yummy red wine.  But feel free to color your own fave!

Because you made it to Wednesday, you deserve a glass of wine.  And a chance to win!  So you know what time it is…hop around to the whole DT and make sure leave comments.  They make me and the other designers smile really big and they really mean a ton!

Would you like to win either the “Coffee and Wine” or the “Wine a Little” Stamp Set?

Each set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

Here’s how to win:

Comment on the NND blog and Design Team blogs (see list below)! The winner will be chosen at random from the collective reveal posts. Make sure to check out each of their blogs and comment for your chance to win. You will not know which blog has been chosen so the more you comment on the better your chances are of winning! You have until Thursday, June 21st at 9pm CST to comment  — winners will be announced on the blog post on Friday, June 22nd.

Freshly Made Sketches #341

Freshly Made Sketches #341 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #341

FMS341 by Jen Timko | Banner in Bloom Stamp Set and Dies by Reverse Confetti, Zig Clean Color Markers, Softly Falling Embossing Folder by Stampin' UpI love the new sketch that we have from Freshly Made Sketches this week!!  The lovely Narelle has given us such a great one and I knew I had to use flowers…because, well, Narelle is the queen of gorgeous flower cards.  This pretty stamp set seem tailor-made for the sketch so I just went with the easy choice.

Banner in Bloom has such wonderful images and this banner with the flowers is an easy go-to.  I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and colored with Zig Clean Color Markers.  The pretty pastels seemed just right for the image and I love how they looked agains the Fog Gray color from Simon Says Stamp.  To add to the sketch elements (that were really already incorporated in the image), I thought it would be nice to add a bit of black metallic thread behind the banner.  The card seemed a little too clean (even for me) so I pulled out an old favorite embossing folder called Softly Falling to add a little bit of texture.  What a difference that makes!

And there you have it!  Fun coloring and a sweet little card for my stash.  I’m busy stamping this week for some upcoming projects.  Can’t wait to share them all.  Until next time, thanks so much for stopping in!

Shine On With Your Bad Self

Shine On With Your Bad Self published on 3 Comments on Shine On With Your Bad Self

Shine On by Jen Timko | Shine On Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, Chibitronics Light CircuitsI am so super excited to finally share some great news!  I am a guest designer for the June release from Concord and 9th!!!  I mean really, this is so awesome that I’m almost without words.  I mean really, have you seen the June release yet??  If not, just run right over and take a look right now.  Here is the link to the New Releases (live at 9am MT on the 9th of each month).

The first set being feature today by the guest designers is called Shine On.  It. Is. Awesome!  I love this fun Edison style light bulb and all the accessory images and sentiments.  And then there are the coordinating dies.  But let’s get to the sentiments.  Because the second my boys saw this one, they demanded that I use it.  Who am I to argue?? I stamped the light images with Momento Ink and colored with Copic Markers.  I used the coordinating dies to cut out the light and fixture then also cut the “Shine” from black card stock.  And then I had a thought…I know….dangerous….  *smile*  Wanna see??

Shine On by Jen Timko | Shine On Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, Chibitronics Light CircuitsYeah, I decided I needed to add a Chibitronics circuit under the light.  Because it needed to actually shine.  The oldest trusty assistant helped me with the circuit (because summer…and trying to keep brains from rotting on video games).  The youngest trusty assistant is featured in the above photo since he really liked the end result.  All you have to do is push the word shine and it does.

I’m so glad that you stopped in today.  Make sure you hop over to the Concord and 9th Blog to see who the other guests are this month.  I’ll give you a hint….you are sure to be in love with their creations!  Thanks for joining me today.  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #340

Freshly Made Sketches #340 published on 7 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #340

FMS340 by Jen Timko | Hearts and Flowers Stamp Set and Dies by Gina K Designs, Balmy Blue Card Stock by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringHi everyone!  Glad to see you today!  I hope your week is going well so far.  I am starting to adjust to the fact that summer has really begun and my boys are home from school.  That also means a little more flying for us airline people so that we can get all of you to fabulous destinations!  What does that mean…well, I have to be pretty efficient with my stamping time!  *smile* Good thing Karren has an awesome sketch for us over at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  We can always count on her to color something amazing and so it is no surprise that she created a sketch that is perfect for colored images.  (Just in time for The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge and, hopefully, a place to use some of the things you are coloring)

I chose this sweet bouquet from Gina K Designs and pulled out my Copics for a little bit of “me” coloring time.  The little flowers are so fun and because the are small, the image doesn’t have to be time consuming.  Perfect!  You know what I found out??  I used some soft blues for the jar, namely the B3X Copics and specifically B32 (with a little bit of B00).  The new Balmy Blue Card Stock from Stampin’ Up is a great match to this blue family and it is really, REALLY pretty!  There are packs in the new catalog that have only the new card stock colors and I cannot recommend enough that it is a good add for you.  The colors are clear and happy and really pretty!  The revamp has been super on point, in my opinion.  Enough with the gushing on card stock…yeah, I know….but really, the colors are wonderful.  I added a sentiment from the same bundle and called this one done.  No extra embellishments (although I did try) and I love the clean simplicity of it.

Well, I’m looking to get in some more coloring and I hope you will too.  You can find many examples on social media using #thedailymarker30day and you can use that to get all kinds of support from those joining in.  I hope you have a happy Wednesday.  Until next time, thanks for stopping in!

FMS339 by Jen Timko | Serene Garden Stamp Set by Stampin' Up, Copic ColoringI hope your week has been good!  Sorry to be a little bit absent lately but end of the school year obligations have taken over at my house.  Not much time for anything else!  I did get a moment, though, to create a card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches.  Love this fun one from the awesome Jennifer Brum!

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use this brand new stamp set by Stampin’ Up called Serene Garden.  It is part of a bundle by the same name and it is gorgeous!  I stamped both corner images and then the extra flowers and the butterfly onto Thick Whisper White card stock.  I colored them with Copic Markers.  So pretty!!  I love them!  Using the coordinating dies, I cut out the extras and layered them, adding the bigger flower to follow the lines of the sketch.  The sentiment is from an old Paper Pumpkin….love that script.

I hope you have had a nice week so far.  The sketch this week is really fun and has lots of room for creativity.  I think you will enjoy the DT’s inspiration too.  A big thanks to the amazing Jill Hawkins for being our guest this month.  Make sure you stop over and tell her how fun it has been having her along!  Until next time…have a great week!

FMS338 by Jen Timko | Layering Leaves Dies by Concord and 9th, Posie Fill In Dies by Concord and 9th, Shaker Card, Sparkling Clear Sequins by Pretty Pink PoshHappy Freshly Made Sketches day!  I have been running around getting end of school year things done but I was happy to take a break and enjoy this fun sketch by the lovely Kim Singdahlsen.  The trio is going to help inspire some great cards this week!

For me, I knew I wanted to use this long leaf die (Layering Leaves) by Concord and 9th.  It is perfect, don’t you think?  I also just got the pack of new colors from Stampin’ Up (they are doing a whole color revamp and the new colors are fresh and fun!).  I chose Gray Granite for the card.  It is less steely and blue than Smokey Slate and it has moved right to the top of my favorite neutral colors.  I cut the leaves out and then created a shaker card.  I put the acetate behind the cut outs, then glued the die cuts back on top of the acetate piece.  Sparkling Clear Sequins are the perfect filler for the windows (I did debate a bright color but settled on the shimmer of these).  For my sentiment panel in the sketch, I used the die cut FRIEND from the Posie Fill In Die set cut from Thick Whisper White.  After cutting them out, I laid them back in the negative and added the foam tape behind the letters.  Then just attacked it to the card that way.  Helped keep the word all lined up.  Nice and clean and even ok for a masculine card.  Always need some of those in my stash!

I hope you are having a great week.  Back to crafting today.  Working to get ahead for some fun things coming up.  Until next time, make sure you pop over to visit the design team’s work.  Amazing as always!  Thanks for stopping in.  See you soon!
