Freshly Made Sketches #458

Freshly Made Sketches #458 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #458

Another week has flown by and I’m busy getting used to combining flying and stamping again. But I have a quick card for you using the latest from Freshly Made Sketches. Our wonderful Kim Singdahlsen has created a unique and fun sketch.

I kept it pretty straight to the sketch and tried to just focus on the shimmer and shine of glitter paper. The fabulous sentiment die is the Happy Word SugarCut and I used its coordinating stamp set, Happy Thoughts.

The background texture is an old Stampin’ Up embossing folder.

I hope you will enjoy playing along with us this week. Lots of fabulous inspiration from the team, as always. Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!

A quick follow up from yesterday’s Mix It Up Challenge #72 post over at the SugarPea Designs blog. A reminder that if you play along, you get a chance to win shopping! Woohoo!

I love the colors and the sketch from the challenge and chose to use both. I stamped a bunch of the little flowers from Hey Fall and colored them quickly. Using the squared from the SugarCut – Card Front Elements III, it was easy to follow the trio from the sketch. I used my CutAlign tool to get things evenly spaced and straight.

Hop on over to the SugarPea Designs blog to see more inspiration posted by the team each week for this monthly challenge. Thanks for stopping in! See you soon.

Happy Looks Good On You

I’m over at the SugarPea Designs blog today with a fun card for inspiration. As I wrote there, I love when I find products that go together even though they were not designed together.

Not gonna lie, it was really all about the glasses for me. I had not played with this particular die in the Open Book SugarCut set and needed to fix that. When I cut them from the green glitter paper, my oldest called them Rita Skeeter glasses because they are acid green. Made me love them even more! It is the details on them. The fact that the die has the little arms and not just the frames! I could go on and on.

I chose a piece of striped paper from my stash since I thought the black and white showed highlighted the color more. As I was looking for ideas, I came upon the Happy Word SugarCut and its sister stamp set, Happy Thoughts. This play on words with the glasses made me chuckle and I knew I had a winner. So I kept it simple (yeah, I know, I usually do) and just kept the word die black with vellum and added the rest of the sentiment on a panel. It was almost done. But what was missing? A little more sparkle! I remembered the little stars from the Piece of Cake SugarCuts and thought they were just the right thing.

I hope you enjoy this one today. Thanks so much for stopping in today. See you soon!

Back for my second card of the day. If you missed the first one, it features the SugarPea Designs Stamptember set so scroll down to take a look. For this card, I’m combining the SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge and the newest Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

It has been at least a couple of weeks since I have used Meadow Motifs so I figured I was cleared to pull it out again. *smile* I mean, there is a flower in the inspiration!! Besides, these little sprays were perfect for Amy‘s sketch. And it is a great sketch!

After a bit of temptation to leave the panel plain, I decided to add some of the script text background from Handwritten Letter to make it a little less plain. I stamped off the ink a bit to give it a varied look. The sentiment is the new Thanks SugarCut and the die has the shadow with it. Love that in vellum.

I hope you will join me for both challenges! Thanks for stopping in today! Hope you have a good one.

Happy Stamptember!!! If you are not aware of this monthlong celebration of crafty fun, head right on over to Simon Says Stamp to see!

We think STAMPtember is the most exciting part of the year and we’ve been counting down the days!! We know so many of you have come to love and collect our exclusive STAMPtember sets, and this year will not disappoint! Today we’re sharing with you the stamp set we created exclusively for this event called Shiver Me Timbers. There is also a coordinating die set and you can purchase them as a bundle or separately! This set is exclusive to Simon Says Stamp, so it’s the only place you will find it, and only while supplies last! Don’t wait too long to get yours, most of these sell out really fast! You can find it HERE.

I had such fun coloring the images from this set. And yes, I have that extra little monkey who just didn’t fit on the card but I had to show him anyway! So many ways to combine the images and sentiments. To create my window, I used the new Birch Forest SugarCut’s outline circle. The perfect size for the scene. And take a closer look to see that our little exploring monkey is bringing the rum for the party. Not sure why, but that rum just cracks me up! Of course there are coordinating SugarCuts for the set and you can buy it as a bundle. Did I mention that the sets sell out FAST?!! Once gone, they are gone.

I’ll be back in a few hours (posting this right at midnight when the set goes live!) with another project for SugarPea Designs and Freshly Made Sketches.

Welcome to Release Day for SugarPea Design! I love Release Day. I have one final card to share. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

I chose to combine some sets that I think you already fell in love with, based on comments. Using one of the leaf images from the Beautiful Books stamp set, I created a wreath. Then I added some of the berry elements from the same set. So easy, so fun, and really stretches the set. Another of the amazing sentiments from Autumn Blessings is the center focal point. The fabulous Autumn Background creates the perfect subtle detail on the card base.

SugarPea Designs – August Sweet Peek Week Day 4

Welcome to day 4 of the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week! I am so excited about the products I get to show you this week! Today is the final day of reveals and we have the Let’s Stay Home set with coordinating SugarCut dies and the Torn Strips Stencil. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

When I saw this stamp set, the first thing I thought of was to make a card where you “entered” the room. So for the front, I created a way to do that. I started with a basic gate fold and the added a door made with elements from the set. The frame turned into the door windows, the book into a mail slot. I used the lamps as intended and the plant is my secret to keeping the door closed. It tucks behind the edge of the plant.

When you open the door, I have this inside. I colored many of the elements from the set and even used the frame as an actual frame here by adding the little flower and coloring it all up. I cannot even tell you how much fun this is. I’m not a natural scene builder as a stamper and this really has me obsessed. I thought the stencil was a good way to add dimension to the floor so I added a bit of distress ink on some darker card stock. Just the right touch! And let’s face it, this sentiment nails it! Just like at my house, that cat on the chair is the big winner in all this!

Welcome to day 3 of the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week! I am so excited about the products I get to show you this week! There is no stopping this release and today we are featuring two stamp sets, Autumn Blessings and Autumn Background, plus a stand alone SugarCut, Thanks Word with Shadow. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

This card is also for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge with sketch designer Karren. I started by stenciling with Distress Oxide ink onto white card stock. This gave me a great background for the beautiful sentiments from Autumn Blessings. I love this one and thought is was perfect for how I feel about so many things in my life. The image is from the same set. I colored it and then fussy cut it to meet the sketch from FMS.

Welcome to day 2 of the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week! I am so excited about the products I get to show you this week! Up for today is an adorable set called Hey Fall with coordinating SugarCut dies and two stand alone dies, Birch Forest and the Card Front Elements 3 SugarCuts. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

I wanted to focus on this fantastic die and wow, what fun to use! I simply cut it out of white card stock and then created an ink blended panel behind it. I looked for a bit of a fall sky feel. I chose a sentiment from Hey Fall and cut with a Sentiment Strip SugarCut, with an additional strip behind to help the sentiment stand out.

SugarPea Designs – August Sweet Peek Week Day 1

Welcome to day 1 of the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week! I am so excited about the products I get to show you this week! Today is a fabulous start with the Beautiful Books Stamp Set and coordinating SugarCut Dies plus a stand alone Open Book SugarCut Die Set. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

I started with the idea of combining the products and they work together perfectly. I cut the book with the Open Book SugarCut and then stamped a sentiment from the Beautiful Books stamp set on the page. The book dies layer up easily and I just glued them together at the spine leaving a bit of play in the pages for depth. Then for the decoration.

It doesn’t take much to see where my glasses inspiration came from! And then a few flowers because who doesn’t love flowers?! But this set is loaded with all kind of multitasking images you are sure to find lots of uses for. To add a little detail behind the book, a natural “go-with” set is from the last release called Handwritten Letter.
