Happy World Card Making Day! Really. It is a thing. And it makes me super happy! I was lucky enough to be invited to help share some of the new Essentials by Ellen product line by Ellen Hutson and they are really fun. You’ll see that they were practically made for me!
As soon as I saw these products I knew exactly what card I was going to make. I wanted our little friend to be all ready to go on the adventures they have missed out on over the last year or two. Passport – check. Bag packed – check. Globe to spin for deciding – check. Ready to go! This adorable set is called the Bear Ware Grand Tour and comes with coordinating dies. I joined it with the new Planet Surface dies.
The bear is super cute, of course, but it is all the extra elements that really make the set. You can see the iconic buildings and there are fun details that go with each along with sentiments. I chose a few and used them like a banner.
Try not to fall over but I actually created a video to go with this card. I know, it is has been over a year since I made one. I thought it would be more fun to show you how I made this so hop over to check it out. I kept the video short and I’d love your feedback on it.

Welcome to release day with Picket Fence Studios!! I’m excited to share for a couple of reasons. First, this release is really outstanding (again). But second, and most importantly, this is a big month for Picket Fence Studios. It is their 1-year anniversary!! And the whole team gets to celebrate by sharing a gift certificate with lucky winners. So first up on the release is a set called Peach and Piper (with coordinating dies). I’m going to be REALLY honest with you. If you want this set, you need to go to my link below and buy it now. Like right now. Because it is going to fly off the shelves. It is so incredibly cute with fantastic sentiments. I am pretty sure the whole team is making stuff with it because we simply cannot stop ourselves. I stamped the little hugging bunnies with Momento Tuxedo Black and colored using Copic Markers. Then I created a little bit of texture inside of the scalloped frame with the new Layers of Grass Stencil. I love how it has the positive and the negative to easily ink both the grass and the background or sky. I inked the little frame using Peachy Keen (Lawn Fawn) to coordinate with the paper but also to keep with the stenciled ink look (all the inking is super fast with the Life Changing Blender Brushes!). I chose a sentiment from Peach and Piper and then added a little bird from Chirp Chirp. For my second card, I thought it would be fun to try and inlaid die technique. I first colored a piece of Yupo using Wild Plum and Silver Alcohol Inks and then cut it out using the new Flower Negative Die. It was easier to show you than tell you so I created a short video on the how to.

Back today with a card I created for the Picket Fence Studios blog. I am super excited about how this turned out and I hope you will like it too. I even create a video for it…wow, it has been a while since I have done that.
I saw a similar technique done by the amazing Kelly Latevola and had it in my “to try” list for quite a while. This lovely Ruffled Peony Bouquet set seemed like the perfect one to use with it so I got to experimenting. In my video, I talk a bit about The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. I cannot recommend joining in enough. Even if you don’t share it all, a little coloring every day (or every day that you can) for a month can make a big difference in your attitude and your creativity. I think it allows me to try more things, risk “failing” and it is good for the soul.
I’d love to know what you think about this technique. I will confess that as I created it, I kept thinking how my my mom would have loved this. But maybe that is why coloring is so good. Welcome to day 1 of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. I love holiday cards. Love them! They are some of my favorites to make and this week’s release is full of amazing products to use. I can hardly wait for you to see everything! We are starting off with two stamp sets and two stencils. Yes, I said starting off. Oh wow!!
The first set I get to show you today is called All Aboard For Christmas. It honestly does not get cuter than this! I just love how these little train cards can be mixed with the adorable contents to create fun combinations. I chose Santa’s train and then filled the cars with Newton and his reindeer friend. At first I was only going to do one car but I just could not stop coloring. So instead, I made a card that is 6″ x 4″ to accommodate the larger train. I chose my colors based on this designer paper from Stampin’ Up in classic Christmas colors so that I could make a coordinating envelope with my Envelope Punch Board for this non-standard card. And I didn’t have to leave off anything! Want to see the coloring closer?
If you love to color like I do, this is going to be a must have set. But this is only the beginning of the release. Because there is a fantastic sentiment set called Sentiments of the Season that is full of perfect outside and inside words for all your holiday cards. I am a sentiment hoarder (especially holiday ones) and this set made me jump for joy!
Just look at that pretty handwritten style on the Merry Christmas. Awesome! And the snowflakes, why yes you do spy one of the two new stencils. It is called Snowfall and it is great, don’t you think? I really wanted to show off the details of this stencil so I played around with a new to me product called Nuvo Gilding Flakes. They are pretty fun and I found that I could use them with my Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive. Super exciting for me to figure that out!! Want to see how I did it? I made a short video.
I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink and embossed it using gold embossing powder and I love how the two gold techniques coordinate. There is such a pretty patina that comes from the gilding flakes and I think they really show off all the details of the stencil. There is an additional stencil that is amazing for the holidays too. With all the ways stencils can be used, they are such a great investment!

Welcome back for a special post today. I’m so excited to share that Newton’s Nook Designs and Xyron have partnered for an amazing inspiration week. Each day this week there are fresh ideas using Newton’s Nook Designs stamps and Xyron adhesives on both the NND blog and the Xyron Facebook page.As I thought about how to best show you both the stamps and the adhesive, I realized that a window card would be perfect for both! I chose the Toucan Party stamp set (it really is fun, don’t you think?!) and created this fun window that depends on the strength of a good permanent adhesive. I colored the images using Copic markers to coordinate with this Color Theory DSP from Stampin’ Up. Want to see the inside?

I am thrilled to finally share with you that I have been working on a Product Review for Splitcoaststampers over the last few weeks. I’m sure you already know that Splitcoaststampers is always on the leading edge in looking for the latest and greatest in products, helping put focus on talented designers and a one-stop-shop for inspiration and information! What a privilege it is to get the call about doing a review for something new!
For this round I am reviewing a new ink offering from Clearsnap called the Colorbox 4-Color Premium Dye Ink. It configures a color family of inks all into one box to make your stamping convenient and allow you to have perfectly coordinated colors with simply one box. For my project today, I used the Summer palette’s blue to create this pretty card. I was inspired by a cool piece of pottery I saw on Pinterest that reminded me of the Detailed Floral Thinlets (picture below). I just had to see if I could mimic the look. I continued on my efforts to color as much as possible for The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. I was very inspired by the incredible Dawn Woleslagle of WPlus9 and wanted to try her technique for creating a watercolor look using stamps. She is a true artist but I simplified her method a bit to make these little flowers. I have a video to show you the details.

I had a few requests to show you how I created the gray flower from my post a few days ago with this card.
So I created a quick video to show you the basics of my Copic coloring. I will apologize now….some of the video quality is not what I would want but I was trying out creating videos with my IPhone for the first time and clearly have some things to work out. In any case, you can see the fundamentals and I hope you will give this a try!!
As promised, I have a fun card to share with you today plus a video. We have this super sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches from the queen of layers, Narelle. She makes layering look effortless and always elegant! As for me….it wasn’t working. So I took a step back and simply layered the images instead. I hope she doesn’t mind too much. I’m still in Denver taking my check ride (3 days of fun in the simulator) but I did get to have coffee with the amazing Kim Singdahlsen from the team. I tell you what, it made facing all those engine out approaches much more tolerable!! *smile*

I used the stamp set from the latest Paper Pumpkin (October) called Blissful Bouquet. The images and sentiments are fabulous! I colored these with Zig Clean Color Markers to create these fall flowers. I made a video to show you how easy it is to color these flowers.
