The Card Concept #64

The Card Concept #64 published on 12 Comments on The Card Concept #64

Welcome back to a new year of challenges from The Card Concept.  I am so happy to share the first one with you!  The inspiration piece is really pretty!

I was inspired by the gold and the flowers in the background plus the sentiment on the note.  I was lucky enough to receive this beautiful stamp set from Santa.  It is called Hello Lovely by Concord & 9th.  I stamped in Versamark and embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I did the same with the sentiment.  I added just a touch of color with my Zig markers to mimic the pink in the flowers.  All I added was a few gold sequins to finish.  I chose the Clean and Graphic style for this week.

I hope you will join us for this one.  I’m sure you will see something in our inspiration that you love!  This is my second post of the day so don’t forget to check out the latest from Freshly Made Sketches too.  Thanks for stopping in.  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #269

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season!!  It was nice to have a little break but great to be back too.  I have been busy creating for some upcoming projects and I look forward to sharing those with you!  Word of warning…..part of my holiday fun is a computer that has decided to give me fits.  I will probably have to send it in for repairs so I apologize in advance for any late posts or gaps in posting.  You just don’t realize how much you rely on these silly things until you don’t have them!

My friend Linda Callahan has created just the right sketch for us at Freshly Made Sketches and I know you will have fun with it.  I kept it simple (because, well, the computer….) and I stuck with just the gold and the kraft.  I used this sweet sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Butterfly Kisses and embossed it in gold.  Then I added the gold glitter tape and the gold thread and a few sequins to finish.  You can dress you version of the sketch up or keep it simple….your choice!

This is my first post of the day and the second one will be out soon.  A great inspiration piece from The Card Concept!  See you soon!

Stamp:  Butterfly Kisses (Mama Elephant); Ink:  Versamark; Paper:  Kraft; Accessories:  Heat Tool, Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Gold Glitter Tape (SU retired), Gold Thread (SU), Gold Sequins

Wow….the last Freshly Made Sketches challenge of the year.  Can you believe it??  I know, it snuck up on me too.  Good thing my friend the amazing and talented Jen Mitchell created one that is good for last minute holiday cards or ready for your post holiday crafting.  Hopefully with some new toys from Santa!!!

I could not do another Christmas card.  Done, complete, no more!  But I did need a birthday card for a special family member whose birthday is near the holidays.  So the only rule was nothing at all holiday-like!  Out came Pop of Pink DSP and this adorable little kitty from Newton’s Nook Designs.  The stamp set is Newton’s Day Dream.  And oh, this fellow is adorable!  I colored him with my Zig Clean Color Markers to look like this certain someone’s kitty and I love how he turned out!  I have to say that taking a short break from holiday madness to create this was EXACTLY what I needed!

Today I’m off for a trip so if you are going through Chicago O’Hare (or other parts of the country) keep an eye out for me.  And please remember to pack your patience at the airport.  This is a crazy time of year for us all.  Many travelers are super stressed and, I promise, we really really want to get you (and us) there on time….safely!

I have some fun news coming up in the next few days that I look forward to sharing with you.  But you can expect that I’ll be away a bit more over the next couple of weeks.  I am off after Friday (like winning the lottery for an airline pilot) but will be spending time with family.  I hope to fit in some bonus stamping too!

The team has such fun inspiration for you this week!   It is sure to get you on your way to creating.  Plus, this sketch is open until Jan. 2 so that the team can take a bit of a holiday too.  Stop in to visit us though…we’ll see you in the gallery!!

Fancy Friday – Winter White

Fancy Friday – Winter White published on 2 Comments on Fancy Friday – Winter White

Welcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop!  Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things.  Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy!  If you hopped over from the amazing Allison, welcome to the next stop.  For December, we are bringing out our winter white – projects that are white and one neutral.

I chose to use gold as my neutral and pull out some sparkle.  I will admit that there is no way to get a picture of all the shimmer on this card.  Believe me, I tried.  So please trust when I tell you that it is a stunner in person.  I started with a base of Shimmery White card stock.  The subtle sparkle in this is so elegant.  I used my Merry Tags framelits and cut the front ornament from the Shimmer White too.  Then I cut the backing piece from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  Yep….it is a wow!  I added a gold embossed sentiment from Holly Jolly Greetings and some pretty elements that I had left over from my Stitched with Cheer card kit.  The gold twine and the gold “pearl” are so pretty with the embossing.

I tried here to capture all the shine but, well, I only sort of got it.  But you get the point.  Just try combining these elements and you will pat yourself on the back!  *smile*

Fancy-Friday-08Now for the rest of the hop!  I’m telling you….this team is the most talented group.  You will be happy you hopped!  Now off to my dear friend Jeanna Bohanon.  As always, she has created something fabulous!

Freshly Made Sketches #267

Freshly Made Sketches #267 published on 9 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #267

Guess what??  I get to be the sketch hostess over at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  I’m pretty excited about this one because I think everyone will be able to find fun ways to use it.  I first designed it as a panel to have colored images but then I realized it was great for DSP or sentiments too.

I went the sentiment route and springboard off my Fancy Friday card from a few weeks ago.  I had one extra stitched star from the Stitched with Cheer kit and thoughts it would be good to use it here.  To get the coordinating plaid on the bottom of the chalkboard panel, I cut a piece from the envelope insert.  It will be tucked down in the envelope so no one will know it is missing.  The sentiment comes from the same set as yesterday’s card (Santa’s Gifts).  I think it is going to stay a go-to for me as I finish up my cards.  I added the striped embossing on Kraft card stock to give a little more texture and the gems come from the kit.

I hope you are having a great week so far.  After seeing all that the design team has done to inspire this week, I just know the gallery will be fabulous.  I hope you will sneak down to your craft rooms and take a little time to create!  Back on Friday for this month’s Fancy Friday.  See you then!

Happy Little Wreath

Happy Little Wreath published on 3 Comments on Happy Little Wreath

I have a quick post for today because I want to share a set of cards I created (and am creating more of).  Not sure how it happens that I’m behind on making cards given that I started in August.  But here we are.  So I’m pulling out the Misti and putting the sweet elves (translated kids) to work and cranking out some cards.  In bulk.  Which I never really do.  Did I mention that the Misti makes it possible??  My 10 yo was die cutting with the Stitched Rectangles and then stamping when he commented how he was impressed with his CPM rate (that would be cards per minute).  Yep.  He made 12 while I made 1/2 card (on another project).  And everyone single one was perfect.  When I get home from this trip, I have them all ready to finish into final cards.  These were his model and we liked them enough to make more.

The key is this pretty wreath.  I got it on sale from Newton’s Nook over the Thanksgiving holiday and what a good get!  The set is called Happy Little Thoughts and it has such pretty elements.  This wreath though….I just knew it would be great for my Christmas cards and I was right!  I colored some Basic Rhinestones with a Copic and added them on along with a twine bow.  The sentiment is from the retired Santa’s Gifts (SU).  All the stamping was done in Early Espresso onto Crumb Cake card stock.

Ok….like I said.  Quick post but I thought you might like a great last minute, I’m really late getting my cards done idea.  *smile*  Hope your day is fantastic!  Back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches!

Supplies:

Stamps:  Happy Little Thoughts (Newton’s Nook), Santa’s Gifts (SU retired); Ink: Early Espresso, Copic Red Marker; Paper: Crumb Cake; Accessories:  Misti, Big Shot, Stitched Rectangles Dies (Simon Says Stamp), Basic Rhinestones, Twine

Freshly Made Sketches #266

Freshly Made Sketches #266 published on 7 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #266

So it is officially crunch time.  I am working like mad on Christmas cards and, somehow, I’m still behind.  Thank goodness for this great sketch from Amy over at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  I was able to put this together quickly and keep plugging away at my to-do list!

I started with the Stitched with Cheer Card Kit from the Holiday Catalog and modified it just a little.  I took one of the trees and stitched it up per the directions (except did not attach) and that took about a minute.  Really.  The sewing adds a lot but not very much time!  I cut a panel from Kraft card stock and heat embossed this sentiment from WPlus9 using Versamark ink and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The gold doily is from the kit as is the card base.  Even the matching envelope was all ready for me to put together.  This kit is a huge time saver!!  The cards are cute as is but also fun to change with small modifications to personalize them.

Ok….back out on the road this week.  Let me know if you’ll be flying on United for your holiday travels and look for me if you are!!  I hope you have a fabulous day!

Freshly Made Sketches #265

Freshly Made Sketches #265 published on 8 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #265

Jen Timko - FMS265 - Jolly ChristmasHi again!  My second post for today is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.  Our wonderful sketch is courtesy of the lovely Narelle and I think you will have fun with it!

I will admit that I almost didn’t get this one done for today.  I spent all day Monday taking care of the post-holiday travel stuff at home and then had to leave on a trip late yesterday.  I played around with some ideas but this is what finally seemed to work best.  I colored this little Santa from Color Me Christmas (SU ret) using Copics and then fussy cut him out.  I used a stitched circle as the base for him and the sentiments.  I thought this was the perfect sketch for pulling out words dies so I used Christmas Greetings thinlits for this “jolly”.  I thought it was a perfect choice for using with Santa.  The “Christmas” sentiment is from the Poinsettia stamp set and fit perfectly with the die.  In fairness, I may have cheated a bit on the sketch but I’m saying that the stamped word is kind of like the rectangle on the sketch and I’m sticking to that story!  *smile*  The card base is from an old kit and I’m happy to be using them up this year.

I hope you enjoy this card and the sketch this week.  The team has done beautiful work and you will love all the inspiration.  Don’t forget to check out my first post for The Card Concept.  It is a fabulous inspiration piece that is sure to make you want to run to your stamp room!  Thanks for stopping in.  See you soon!

The Card Concept #63

The Card Concept #63 published on 3 Comments on The Card Concept #63

Jen Timko - CC63 - Poinsettia GreetingsToday is a two post Wednesday and this is my first card for the day.  I’m so excited to share the inspiration from The Card Concept for our latest challenge.  As I was looking at the beautiful details of that fireplace, I found that the colors and the patterns started to jump out at me and so an idea was born.

I think this flower from Poinsettia (Simon Says Stamp) is simply wonderful to color.  I used it with Copics last week but decided to try it with Zig Clean Color Markers for this challenge.  I thought the watercolor feel was more in line with the country vibe of the photo.  I stamped the flower using Versafine Onyx Black and then masked it to add the leaf.  The paper is Fabriano Watercolor Paper.  The sentiments from the same stamp set worked perfectly for this so I inked up this combination with Versafine again and used my Misti to make sure my stamping was right.  I always use my Misti when I have colored the image (because…well, you know why).  I used the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Dies to add a bit more detail when I cut the image panel down to size.  Now for the background.  I created a card base using this great pattern from Under the Tree DSP (SU ret).  Yep, the whole card base.  Because the other side (now the inside) is a Kraft pattern with little stars.  I love the result!!  Finally, I pulled some sequins out and started to mix and match. These happen to all be from Paper Pumpkin kits.

Make sure you check my second post for Freshly Made Sketches too.  I am still recovering from our Thanksgiving adventures but the fun was worth all the traveling.  Hope you have a great week!  See you soon!
