Since it is release week for Newton’s Nook, please bear with me as I combine the two challenges from Freshly Made Sketches and The Card Concept this week. The sketch from the kind and amazing Cindy Hall seemed perfect to with the inspiration piece!
I came back to this gorgeous set from Concord & 9th called Hello Lovely because I really, really wanted to use this sentiment for the sketch. They seemed perfect for each other! I stamped using Versafine Black ink to ensure a crisp look. The two words are actually separate stamps and can be used in multiple ways (one of the things that drew me to the set) and then there is the flower. You may remember the flower from my last card for The Card Concept and it really is a full card size. But how wonderful that you can use a small portion of it too! I used the colors from the inspiration piece (orange, pink and gray) and I love how quick it was to create this pretty watercolor look. The image panel and the base are Shimmery White Card Stock (SU). This paper really does take ink well and is beautiful with a light coloring hand…nevermind the subtle shimmer which is so pretty in person. I added a layer of Tangerine Tango and colored some Basic Pearls with a black Sharpie marker to mimc the speckles from the image and add a little more dimension.
I know you have been getting tons of posts from me this week and I hope you have enjoyed my projects. This is my first post of the day and you will see the next in the January Release from Newton’s Nook Designs in just a bit. The FMS and Card Concept design teams have created marvelous projects for our challenges this week and I hope you will join us for both. Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!
