Glad to see you on this lovely Wednesday! At least I hope it is lovely where you are. Just like in yesterday’s post, I am working to resist the winter weather with another pretty spring image. This time I’m using this awesome sketch by the incredible Kim Singdahlsen. Something about this sketch really spoke to me and it is going right into my “use again soon” favorites.
Last week I showed you a card with one of my gifts from Santa and this gorgeous Mondo Hydrangea was in the same package. I think Santa has my number when it comes to picking stamps! I had to admit that stamping cards like this with aligned images used to put me off because I knew they would never be quite aligned. No more! The Misti tool makes short work of this and the line up is perfect every time! I stamped onto SU Shimmery White paper using WPlus9 Black Dye Ink for the base. Then laid the little piece of DSP down and stamped again. I figured out the spacing for the top layer, moved the others out of the way and stamped one more time onto Shimmery White. While the Shimmery White paper is not true watercolor paper, it does watercolor nicely if you don’t need to add lots of color (or water). I love it for effects like this. And the added bonus is the subtle sparkle! I used Light Blue and Peacock Blue Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and my Zig BrusH2O for a quick coloring of the rectangle part of the flower. A little bit of Light Green and Yellow for the stems and centers. I thought the sentiment from yesterday’s card was perfect for this one too so I used the Happy Little Thoughts set from Newton’s Nook Designs. I stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black to keep it crisp and clear. I popped the colored panel up on Dimensionals for a little more wow and then added some of my hoarded beloved sequins from the SU Watercolor Wishes set. They really are just the right colors!
I do hope that you will enjoy this sketch as much as I did. Now I have to admit that as I just added the sketch in to my blog writeup, I realized that my sentiment is in the wrong place. Sigh. My computer issues have addled my brain. Good thing the team has exceeded their normally fabulous creative work! Yes, I am still facing computer issues so I’ll be a bit quiet still this week (it has gone in to the professional Apple people to see what they can do….perhaps a graphics driver) but I’m working busily in my stamp room creating projects for the upcoming Newton’s Nook Designs January release. I can’t wait to share! Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon!

The soft blue is fabulous on this gorgeous flower! Love how the flower spills over the sides! Beautiful card!
As soon as I saw this gorgeous card in the gallery, I thought the Misti had come into play! And what a fabulous card and a genius idea to carry the image across all three panels!
Great spot light card. Usually you see a circle. Love this.
Perfectly aligned and perfectly beautiful! I love how you’ve colored the petals with such a soft blue. Gorgeous card, Jennifer!
Love this card Jen! That flower is just beautiful and almost looks real! I love the colouring. I tried my Zig’s tonight but I must be defunct! I can’t get anything to look right!!! You have it mastered!
Having a stamped image straddle multiple layers is one of my favorite things. I love the look of it, now why don’t I do that more often? Love the delicate colors of this!
Oh how lovely! Your colouring is so soft and pretty and I love your choice of flower!
