Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Umbrella Pals

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Umbrella Pals published on 30 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Umbrella Pals

Welcome to day 3 of the April Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  I hope you are having fun with the reveals so far.  Today, we have an absolutely darling set that is super clever and sure to bring a smile.  It is called Umbrella Pals.

Brighter Days by Jen Timko | Umbrella Pals Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook DesignsSo all the umbrellas in the stamp set are little critters and it is such fun to use!!  I thought these two bears worked great together!  I colored them with my Zig Clean Color markers and then created the background with the markers too.  To do that, I scribbled some of the ink on a clear blog and spritzed with a bit of water, the put the block on my paper.  I did this a few times to get the layered look on the background.

Brighter Days by Jen Timko | Umbrella Pals Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook DesignsI thought it would be fun to add a bit of sunshine under the umbrella with the yellow as a nod to the sentiment.  As an additional bit of brightness, I put the colored layer onto a yellow base so that the recipient gets that extra surprise of color when they open the card.  I thought a few clear drops would be appropriate for the gray section able the umbrellas.

I hope you enjoy today’s card and I know you will love the DT’s projects.  Now for your chance to win!!

Freshly Made Sketches #333

Freshly Made Sketches #333 published on 8 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #333

(Note:  This is my first post of the day.  If you are looking for the Newton’s Nook Designs Release day 3 post, you can find it HERE.)FMS333 by Jen Timko | Posie Fill-In Stamp and Dies by Concord and 9th, Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die by MFT StampsIt is a busy week and I have two cards for today.  First up is this one for Freshly Made Sketches.  Narelle Farrugia is our sketch hostess this week and she created a sketch that I fell instantly in love with!  Per the usual, when I saw the circles I thought flowers.  After seeing the Where Creativity Meets C9 theme for this month, I knew it flowers were meant to be.  So I grabbed these amazing Concord and 9th flowers from the Posie Fill-In set that worked perfectly!

I stamped the outlines with Momento Tuxedo Black ink first.  Then I used the fill in stamps with Lawn Fawn ink in Cilantro (the leaves), Raspberry and Sugar Plum.  I added the flower centers and then cut out all the images using the coordinating dies.  The sentiment comes from the same set…perfect for “just because” cards.  I used a Wonky Stitches Rectangle to add a bit more detail to the card.

Hope you like this sketch and will have some time to play along.  As always, the design team has fantastic inspiration for you.  Back in a few with today’s reveal from Newton’s Nook Designs.

Supplies (affiliate links included):

Stamp: Posie Fill-In (Concord and 9th); Paper: Thick Whisper White (SU); Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Lawn Fawn; Accessories: Big Shot, Posie Fill-In Dies (Concord and 9th), Misti, Mini Dimensionals

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Wedding Frills and Floral Lace

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Wedding Frills and Floral Lace published on 29 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Wedding Frills and Floral Lace

Welcome back for day 2 of the April Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  Today we have a wonderfully elegant set that is perfect for another fixture of spring…weddings.  It is called Wedding Frills and it is gorgeous.  As if that were not enough, we are showcasing a new stencil called Floral Lace as well.

Happily Ever After by Jen Timko | Wedding Frills Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Frames and Flags Dies by Newton's Nook DesignsWhen I saw these gorgeous images, I immediately wanted to make them look like lace on a wedding dress.  Something about embossing white on kraft colored card stock does that!  I cut the image layer with the Frames and Flags Dies and then stamped the big flower and sentiment with Versamark Ink (I did this in steps to avoid causing smudges with the Versamark).  Using Wow! Bright White Embossing Powder, I heat embossed.  Then I stamped a few of the little flowers and did the same.  Using the coordinating Wedding Frills dies, I cut those out and popped them up.  Finally I added some pearls to go with my wedding flowers.  I love the elegant feel of this card!

Hello by Jen Timko | Floral Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs, Essential Alphabet Dies by Newton's Nook DesignsFor my second card I wanted something with a more spring-like feel.  I cannot even tell you how awesome this stencil is to use!  I taped it onto some Bristol Smooth card stock and then sponged on Distress Inks  to highlight the flowers and leaves.  I sponged a little bit more of the paper and then cut out my sentiment letters with the new Essential Alphabet Dies.  I just used a bit of foam tape to pop them up and make them stand out more.  Think of all the color combinations you can try!  I can’t wait to make more of them.

I hope you enjoy these!  What a day 2!!  I know you have lots of hopping to do so off to visit the rest of the team for you.  But first….a chance to win!!

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Newton’s Graduation and Essential Alphabet Dies

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Newton’s Graduation and Essential Alphabet Dies published on 32 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Newton’s Graduation and Essential Alphabet Dies

Welcome to day 1 of the April Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  We have another exciting week in store for you and we have spring on the mind!  Today, Newton starts us off with Newton’s Graduation (and, of course, the coordinating dies) along with a new stand alone die set called Essential Alphabet.

Take Over the World by Jen Timko | Newton's Graduation Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, WatercolorIt is time to start thinking about the end of the school year (where has it gone?!!) and I know there will be some important graduations coming for many of you.  This adorable Newton is great for those but also can multitask to cheer someone on for other big life events.  I have just the person in mind for this one…she just started a new job and I’m excited for the possibilities!

I stamped Newton onto Fabriano Watercolor Paper and then colored with Daniel Smith paints.  After coloring, I was inspired by the globe colors and went digging around into my papers to see what I could find.  Sure enough, this retired set from Stampin’ up was perfect to use!  Using the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #267 which seemed great for showing off our kitty friend.  And oh, this sentiment…isn’t it great?!

Our second reveal for the day is an alphabet die set that is a must have!  The style of the letters fits almost any card type you could need to make.  I will show it to you on a card tomorrow but I know some of the team will have great inspiration today.  Make sure to hop through and enjoy the projects! Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!

Just Believe

Just Believe published on No Comments on Just Believe

Just Believe by Jen Timko | Dream On Stamp by Pinkfresh Studio, Fancy Feathers Stamp by Lil' Inker DesignsHappy Saturday to you!  I’ve been busy creating for next week’s Newton’s Nook Designs April Release (starts on Monday) but I wanted to quickly share this card that I made for a friend.

I got this sweet rainbow image in a set called Dream On (Pinkfresh Studio) at Stamping Away.  Isn’t it darling?  I thought it would be fun to use repeat stamping and then color a few.  I used Copics to shade the rainbows in some bright, happy colors.  Little images are perfect for this technique!!  I found some coordinating sequins to add a little more color and then popped up the layer on a dark blue card base.  I hope it will bring some joy to the recipient!  Well, off to some more soccer….all soccer, all the time around here!  Hope the day is great.  See you Monday!

Supplies (affiliate links included):

Stamp: Dream On (Pinkfresh Studio), Fancy Feathers (Lil’ Inker Designs); Paper: Thick Whisper White (SU), Midnight Muse (SU retired); Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers; Accessories: Misti, Big Shot, Stitched Rectangles Dies (Simon Says Stamp), Dimensionals, Mini Dimensionals, Sequins

Freshly Made Sketches #332

Freshly Made Sketches #332 published on 8 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #332

FMS332 by Jen Timko | Jungle Little Stamp by Hello Bluebird, Sketchy Thoughts Stamp by Winnie and Walter, Gotta Have Gingham 6x6 Paper by Lawn FawnI hope that this finds you having a great week!  Here today with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  Our host this week is the extraordinary Karren Johnson…one of my coloring idols!  She has created a sketch that is sure to be a go-to!!

I thought I’d take a little twist on it and create a split card with this cute Gotta Have Gingham paper (Lawn Fawn) and popped it up leaving the sentiment section recessed.  I had this little lion left over from coloring for last week’s FMS card and knew he’d be perfect for the sketch.  Could not let an image this cute get lost in the pile of “to be used” stuff.  He is from the Jungle Littles set (Hello Bluebird) and I just him for a baby card!  I found just the right sentiment in a set from Winnie and Walter that I got at Stamping Away called Sketchy Thoughts…it is one of those you’ll see a lot from me because the sentiments are really fantastic, really usable and perfectly sized!  I added on a little bit of twine and called this one complete.  I have just the recipient in mind for this one…I’m going to be a great-Aunt in the fall and I’m so excited for my niece and her husband!!

As always, the design team over at FMS has outdone themselves!!  So many fun interpretations of the sketch.  I hope to see you in the gallery this week!  Thanks for stopping in.  See you soon!

For Someone Special

For Someone Special by Jen Timko | Banner in Bloom Stamp Set and Dies by Reverse Confetti, Striped Frame Cover Pane by Reverse Confetti, Copic ColoringWishing you a happy Saturday!  For “spring”, it certainly has not been very bright or warm yet here in Virginia so I thought I should just create a little of my own spring sunshine.  I think this Banner in Bloom stamp set from Reverse Confetti does that perfectly, don’t you?!  I wanted the banner to go with this pretty yellow (Lemon Chiffon from Simon Says Stamp…it is a current favorite for sure!).  I stamped in Momento ink and then used Copics to color two of the images from the set.  They layer up so nicely!!For Someone Special by Jen Timko | Banner in Bloom Stamp Set and Dies by Reverse Confetti, Striped Frame Cover Pane by Reverse Confetti, Copic Coloring

To add a little more interest, I used the Striped Frame Cover Panel and popped up the center layer to allow for more of the yellow to peek out.  So pretty!!  I added some Sparkling Clear Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh) for just a little more shine on the card.

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge this week is a celebration of their 9th Birthday!  So, naturally they are having a birthday theme.  I thought this would be a fun way to help them celebrate (and add to my birthday card stash too!).  Hope the weekend is full of sunshine (either for real or in your craft room).  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #331

Freshly Made Sketches #331 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #331

FMS331 by Jen Timko | Jungle Little Stamp Set by Hello Bluebird, Copic ColoringHappy middle of the week to you!!  I hope your week is going well so far.  This great sketch at Freshly Made Sketches from the lovely Cécile Ribon is sure to get you up and stamping!!  I just love all the possibilities on this one.

I have already told you about the amazing gifts I came home with from Stamping Away last month.  Well, one of my favorites was an adorable stamp set from a new company called Hello Bluebird.  I love finding out about new companies and this one is sure to make you smile.  The Jungle Littles stamp set is from their March release and there are tons of sweet images in this set.  I stamped a few of them not knowing which I would choose for the card and then got to coloring with my Copics.  I just knew the vines would be great for the sketch too.  Because the stamps are photopolymer, I was able to change the curve on the vine (the real image has a bit more bend to it) on my MISTI.  Love how you can do that!  Then I took a very practical approach to choosing which images to use…I let my boys choose.  The oldest told me that the tiger was simply a must (after some debate with the youngest because I had also colored the lion).  The tiger finally won out because he belongs in a jungle, apparently.  Who am I to argue?!  Naturally, the monkey had to join him because who can resist a monkey bringing you a flower?  Yep…that is how it rolls some days around here.  Oh, the real back story to how some things get created, haha!  While there are dies for this set, I don’t have them (yet) so I fussy cut the images to be able to pop them up on the card.

I hope you like my take on the sketch today.  And yes, I did realize that my panels are reversed from the sketch…after they were all stamped and colored.  So I hope Cécile won’t mind too much.  You are going to love all that the design team has created this week.  And we have a new guest to introduce for the month of April!!  My Stamping Away table neighbor, the extraordinary Tracey McNeely, has joined our happy band of enablers.  I already loved her work from afar and then when I got to meet her….well, adjectives don’t quite cover how kind, sweet and seriously talented she is.  Stop over and say hi!!

Thanks for stopping in today.  I appreciate you spending a little time with me and I’ll see you again soon.

Lovely Amazing You

Lovely Amazing You published on 1 Comment on Lovely Amazing You

Lovely Amazing You by Jen Timko | Cottage Garden Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Happy Little Thoughts Stamp by Newton's Nook DesignsToday is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog.  While my blog was plugging along with pre-scheduled posts last week, I was in New York City with my family for spring break.  We had an amazing time and saw as much as we could (and had the tired feet to prove it)!!  Because of the week off, I was not able to participate in the Stamping for Autism Blog Hop so instead I created my card today with that in mind.

I was inspired for my card by this logo.  I love how the colors reflect the differences of all those who are on the autism spectrum.  Just like a rainbow, the colors are better together!  I thought it would be nice to create a wreath of sorts using similar colors and this wonderful flower from Cottage Garden.  After stamping and die cutting the flowers, I chose this sentiment from Happy Little Thoughts.  It sums up how special each individual is, after all.  And on a personal note, I have a number of friends with children on the spectrum.  These parents are the most extraordinary kind of parent.  They are gentle and kind, yet ferocious when defending their children against misunderstanding.  They are full of love and tolerance, yet willing to fight any battle to make sure their children get the most they can from this world.  I’m in awe of them and pray that with each post in this week’s hop, there is more kindness and understanding for those who face these challenges every day.

Please take the time to go over to Newton’s Nook Designs for the DT hop and also to see Veronica Zalis who is the creator of the 2018 Stamping for Autism hop (there are chances to win prizes at both too).

Thanks for stopping in today.  I’m back to stamping and will see you tomorrow for the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  Until then, have a great day!

Grateful

Grateful published on 1 Comment on Grateful

I’m so excited to be able to share with you one more card I made for the collaboration this month between My Sweet Petunia and Joy Clair.  This is a month long partnership and it gives you lots of opportunities to win!  With two full designs teams (I’m guesting in with My Sweet Petunia), all you have to do is comment on posts where you see this blog hop banner.  You are then entered to win these prizes: two $25 gift certificates to Joy Clair or one MISTI (your choice of original or mini).  Winners will be announced in April on both blogs.

Grateful by Jen Timko | Thank You for Everything Stamp by Joy Clair, MISTI by My Sweet PetuniaThis card is brought to you by the fun of repeat stamping with the MISTI.  Yes, I did say the fun of repeat stamping.  Those are not the words I would have used without a MISTI!!  *smile*  I started by stamping the top center flower and then moved the paper left and right the same distance to stamp the rest of the row.  Then I moved the paper up and back to center and started the process again.  Perfect alignment, no stress, almost no actual math.  I added this sweet sentiment that comes from the same set as the flower (Thank You for Everything).  I colored in the flowers using my watercolors and then cut the image with a stitched square die.

I thought that the dimension from the Wood Textures paper on the base was perfect to complement the flowers so I just layered it onto the square base and popped the image layer up with Dimensionals (SU).

I thought this was the perfect card for today. I am grateful for many things!  For friends and family, on that I’m very blessed!  For this stamping community, the encouragement from you brings me such joy.  And despite the fact that today is Good Friday, I’m grateful that I know Easter will come.  I hope that you have a beautiful Easter weekend!

Make sure you go over to the  Joy Clair and My Sweet Petunia blogs to see what other inspiration they have for you.  And don’t forget to leave your comments for a chance to win!
