Wishing you a happy Saturday! For “spring”, it certainly has not been very bright or warm yet here in Virginia so I thought I should just create a little of my own spring sunshine. I think this Banner in Bloom stamp set from Reverse Confetti does that perfectly, don’t you?! I wanted the banner to go with this pretty yellow (Lemon Chiffon from Simon Says Stamp…it is a current favorite for sure!). I stamped in Momento ink and then used Copics to color two of the images from the set. They layer up so nicely!!

To add a little more interest, I used the Striped Frame Cover Panel and popped up the center layer to allow for more of the yellow to peek out. So pretty!! I added some Sparkling Clear Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh) for just a little more shine on the card.

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge this week is a celebration of their 9th Birthday! So, naturally they are having a birthday theme. I thought this would be a fun way to help them celebrate (and add to my birthday card stash too!). Hope the weekend is full of sunshine (either for real or in your craft room). See you soon!

CTS #181 – Day Filled with Sunshine

I have fun card to share with you today! I have been trying to play along with the 30-day Coloring Challenge again. I miss some days but I like that I think about taking time (even just a few minutes) to color….just because. It also pushes me to look for inspiration and find some fun challenges in which to play. I was able to do just that for this card. I started using the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge for the week as my sketch and also decided to join the Simon Wednesday Challenge. The sketch is a wonderfully clean one that I hope I didn’t stretch too far. The Simon challenge is to create a scene with a focus on Newton’s Nook stamps.

I used the adorable stamp set Newton’s Day Dream to create this little scene. As usual for all cat things, my cat muse is my sweet little calico Kate. I think in her perfect world she would nap with all these fun things flying about. Or so she tells me when she tried to sneak outside and is caught. *smile* I colored using my Zig Clean Color Pens in the following colors:I really do love coloring with these pens so much!! I cut the image panel out using my Wonky Stitches die to add a little more fun detail. Just a quick post today. I hope you have a lovely Saturday filled with sunshine.

You’re in my Thoughts

I hope your weekend is going well! We are finally digging out of all the snow and life is returning to normal. Both boys may even go to school tomorrow! Yay!! My oldest missed a whole week. Eek! I know a lot of people make fun of this area and how it handles snow but the reality is that we have equipment that is good for regular little snows and NOT for gigantic storms like Snowzilla. So it takes a bit. But I did have a great time with sledding along with all the shoveling. Over all, a mom win for time spent with the boys!

Meanwhile, back at the stamp table, I was able to finally put together something that I worked on over a week ago. I showed a peek of the coloring in progress on my Instagram page (link is over in my sidebar if you want to follow). I was practicing my no-line coloring using just grays. In this case, Copic Toner Grays T0, T2 and T5. The flower is from Altenew’s Beautiful Day. I stamped in SU Smoky Slate ink and then did the coloring. I added a little white to the center with a White Gel Pen. The sentiment is from Watercolor Wishes and also stamped in Smoky Slate. I cut the white layer with a Lil’ Inkers Border Builders Die and added a piece of Basic Grey Vivienne DSP underneath. Some Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh were a nice finishing touch. I hope you enjoy this one. I had fun practicing my coloring. Even more fun when it turns into something worth showing (not everything does but the practice is still worth it!). CTS#155 – Ombre Feathers

Happy weekend to you!! I hope you are having a great one! I had a little time to stamp yesterday and I wanted to join in some fun challenges. First, I saw an incredibly cool sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch and I decided to combine it with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to use Ombre in your card.

I had the feathers out on my desk still from the FMS Challenge this week so that was my starting place. Instead of using the stamp set that coordinates, I only used the Fancy Feathers Dies (Lil’ Inker Designs) and cut a couple out of Fabriano Watercolor Paper. Then using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry (sounds like a tasty summer treat, doesn’t it?!), I colored to create a graduated ombre look to the feathers. After they were dry, I spritzed on a little water to add to the look. For the sentiment I went in reverse and inked up the watercolor paper first (same colors) and then cut it out with a little bonus die that I got from Taylored Expressions with an order….love the size and font on this one! Then on to the sketch. I found this one intriguing but challenging. I thought this curved stitched die from the Border Builders set (Lil’ Inker Designs) did a pretty good job of approximating the sketch so I cut some more watercolor paper with it and put in on a Tangerine Tango (SU) card base. Finally I added the White Perfect Accents (backs removed) to finish.

Tree Hugs for You + Me

I’m so happy to be able to share this fun card I created last week for the Simon Wednesday Challenge! The challenge was “Something New” and I totally just had to pull out the latest stamp that I got from Concord and 9th called Tree Hugs. I just love that you can create your own birch trees and add a little carving. I suppose that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner (already?!) and this set makes awesome masculine cards! I stamped the trees onto Whisper White using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. It took a little bit of masking to create the angled trees and the branch but nothing too time consuming. Then I set about coloring. I used two Copic colors and that was it! BG11 is the light aqua background and then E31 adds a little shading to the trees and carving. I was so happy that Santa brought me some Copics for Christmas and E31 was in that little pack of neutrals that he knew I just had to have!! When I was all done coloring, I trimmed the image layer using my Big Shot and the Stitched Rectangles Dies from Simon Says Stamp.
