Today is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog and I just had to continue with making pretty summer cards with this Lovely Blooms stamp set. This flower set really is awesome for coloring!
Is there such thing as a yellow hydrangea?? I’m not sure but I created one in any case. Using my Chameleon pens, I colored the flowers and the leaves to coordinate with this new Color Theory DSP from Stampin’ Up. I LOVE this paper! It is the perfect background for almost any image but it really shows off this flower. The sentiment is a go-to for me lately and it comes from the Happy Little Thoughts stamp set (NND). I colored some Basic Pearls with the Olive Chameleon pen and added those fora little more detail. The whole image panel is on a Crushed Curry card base.
For those of you in the US, I hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!! So glad you stopped in today. See you tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches!
Stamp: Lovely Blooms (Newton’s Nook Designs); Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Chameleon Pens (Y03 Warm Sunset, OL3 Olive Green); Paper: Thick Whisper White (SU), Color Theory DSP (SU), Crushed Curry; Accessories: Big Shot, Lovely Blooms Dies (Newton’s Nook Designs), Misti, Basic Pearls
Today is last day of the June release from Newton’s Nook Designs. I have to say, this one has been quite amazing (by the already high standards of previous releases). I’m simply in awe of the creativity of design and the ability of these sets to appeal to so many. I know, I know…I’m gushing…but really….based on the lovely comments I have received this week (for which I’m incredibly grateful), you agree with me! So now, onto the last set. Our week would not be complete without our friend Newton, now would it?!
Our little buddy gets to go on an adventure and the team gets to have some fun with this western theme! The hardest part of the card?? Choosing which image to color first! There are so many great choices…and take note of the little mustache. I mean, seriously!! So much fun (my oldest told me that all the Newtons need a mustache from now on, haha). I pulled out my Copics and got to work coloring. Something about him popping out of the boot just cracks me up. After I had him colored, I wanted to continue the western theme with the elements of the card. I used this brand new designer paper from Stampin’ Up called Wood Textures. The whole pack of 6″x6″ paper is full of wood prints in different colors. I added a bit of burlap ribbon on the edge and some twine under the sentiment panel. The wood paper is simply perfect for showing off Newton! I know you will love all the other designers’ work so off you go with the hop. But before you go….make sure to be eligible to win the sets from this week by commenting on the team’s pages.

Today is Day 3 of the release from Newton’s Nook Designs. I’m super excited that we have not one but TWO sets to share (and matching dies!). Yeah….this is awesome!!!I’m starting with a card that I created for the release but also for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week. Our hostess is the lovely and amazing Cécile Ribon and she created this fun and clever sketch! I loved using it to show off the Cuppa Cactus stamp set.
I colored these adorable images using my Chameleon Pens. These are such fun to color!!! I sponged some stitched circles with Distress Ink in the coordinating colors and they are perfect to show off these fun image, don’t you think?! I stamped the “caution” sentiment to follow the sketch and then put the actual caution inside the card. *smile*Super cute, right?? All of you coffee fans will totally need this one. Not sure how to take it but my boys commented about this being perfect for me when I showed them the card. Hmmmm…..
This second card used the Cultivated Cacti set and I had such fun with it. I love that you can stamp quickly with solid image stamps and get such a cute little scene! I did a mix and match of inks and colors to created my scene. And oh, this sentiment (and the others in the set)….such fun little puns! While I think these are hard cards to make, having a stamp that says exactly what you need it to is invaluable. And, you can get the set for free!
Would you like to win the “Cuppa Cactus” or “Cultivated Cacti” Stamp Set? Each of these sets will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

Today is Day 2 of the release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Our reveal today is a set that anyone owned by a pet will appreciate. The set is called Furr-Ever Friends and it is one that made me happy and nostalgic all at the same time. The sentiments in this set are really simply perfect to reflect how so many of us feel about our dear furry family members.
After debating how to show this set, I opted for simple. Because when someone loses one of their dear friends, I feel like simply is best. I created a watercolor wash with my Winsor and Newton paints and then added the black silhouette of the kitty. This reminds me of my old friend Pito who was a part of my life for 19-1/2 years (I’ll confess his silhouette was a little “stouter”, lol). He was a solid black kitty and one of the most special friends…I was his human and he will always be a part of me. So I chose this sentiment which says exactly how I still feel about him. While I think these are hard cards to make, having a stamp that says exactly what you need it to is invaluable. And, you can get the set for free!

It is that wonderful time of the month when we get a new release from Newton’s Nook Designs. This week’s release is absolutely full of fun and we get to start this week with some sweet terriers.
The set is called Terrific Terriers to be exact and I know so many people with dogs that will be thrilled to see their friends in a stamp. Isn’t his face just adorable??
I started with a sketch from CASe this Sketch and used the paw print from this set and one from another upcoming set (consider this a sneak peek) to create the vertical element for the sketch. This is super easy with a Misti to make sure the alignment is perfect. Then I colored my terrier with Zig gray markers. My neighbor has the sweetest little boy who has some terrier in him (and maybe some other breeds too) so Murray was my inspiration for this card. And oh, that sentiment. I just love this one to go with all my Newtons! As you hop along, just remember that you can get the set for free!

Welcome to the Summer Fun Collaboration Blog hop with Newton’s Nook Designs and Studio Katia! Both teams are celebrating the start of summer with fun and colorful cards using stamps from Newton’s Nook Designs and dies and embellishments from Studio Katia. There’s prizes too! Both companies have a prize to give away too so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!My first thought when I saw the summer theme was a birthday card. Maybe because it is because my oldest son is a “beginning of summer” baby, haha! But something about these bright happy sequins from Studio Katia and this adorable tag die screamed birthday to me. After consulting with my youngest son (this card was from him for his brother), we chose the Newton Loves Cake stamp to color for the card. I love this little Newton and I colored his cupcake with Copics to match the sequins. Adorable!! This tag die makes creating a shaker super easy too. With the black card stock, it was hard to see the tag details in my full picture so I wanted to show you a closeup too. I created my own mix of sequins with the Sunny Side Up, Enchanted Sea and Lipstick Red Sequins. I have to admit that Newton looks pretty proud of his giant cupcake, don’t you think?! Again, little brother thought the striped paper behind the tag made the card look like a “boy card” so I trusted his judgement. I tied on some red ribbon and black baker’s twine to finish the tag. The verdict??? As soon as the birthday boy picked up the envelope, he knew it was a shaker card. And apparently even 14 year old boys who are very, very cool cannot resist shaking a shaker card! *smile* Now you need to get on with the hop but first…
We are giving away TWO prizes – one prize pack from Studio Katia and one $25 store credit from Newton’s Nook Designs!

Today is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog and I am so excited about this one! I had a card like this in mind for a while using the Lovely Blooms stamp set and this exceeded even what I had envisioned (and that NEVER happens). The best part, it came together so quickly. This is super fun and really easy to reproduce!
I stamped using Versamark ink onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper. Quick and sort of random with nothing too fussy. Then I heat embossed using white embossing powder. I love the half wreath feel so I added this great sentiment from the set using the same method. Then all I did was color using Winsor and Newton paints. I got the image wet and dropped in color. For some I let the colors combine but with others (purple specifically) it is best to let things dry first and then layer color on top. With paints, you can do that and avoid muddiness. I added these sweet little Clear Round Drops from Studio Katia to mimic the look of water.
I hope this will encourage you to try your hand at watercoloring too. It doesn’t all have to be in the lines or perfect! Hope you have a great day. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Stamp: Lovely Blooms (Newton’s Nook Designs); Ink: Versamark; Paper: Strathmore Mixed Media, Green Leaf Card Stock (SSS); Accessories: Silver Brush Round 4, Winsor and Newton Paints, Heat Tool, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder (SU), Clear Round Drops (Studio Katia)
Oh, look at the amazing sketch we have for you today over at Freshly Made Sketches! My friend Linda Callahan, queen of clever, is our hostess this week and her sketch will get you moving right to your craft room!
As soon as I saw the sketch, I thought shaker card. So that is just what I made! I did a quick watercolor using Tim Holtz Distress Inks on these fun flowers from the Lovely Blooms Stamp set (Newton’s Nook Designs) and cut them out with coordinating dies. I chose colors to match my awesome sequins from Studio Katia and to make my coordination easy. I cut a frame with Stitched Shapes Thinlits (SU). The sentiment from Happy Little Thoughts (NND) was stamped onto the window sheet (also cut with the square die) and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Kind of wish I had black powder for a sharper look but I think this works with the loose watercolor look from the flowers. I rooted around in my DSP stack until I found a print that worked in the background. I kind of love these stripes!
I have been stamping madly and have lots coming up for you in the next couple of weeks. Until next time, I hope you have an amazing day! Thanks for stopping in!

A quick card for today’s Inky Paws #47 Challenge. I loved the colors in this challenge so I just had to play along! I thought this little Newton Loves Cake set was perfect for the challenge and I had not colored this particular image yet so win, win!
I stamped Newton on some Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper and colored with Zig Clean Color Markers to match the challenge colors. Fun and simple to do! Then, using the coordinating dies I cut out the image. I added this awesome sentiment (because it really is ALL about the cake) plus some baker’s twine and sequins. I always need birthday cards on hand and this one is quick to duplicate…always a plus!
I hope you will find a moment to join the challenge. You have two weeks and this color palette is sure to inspire. Thanks so much for stopping in today. See you soon!

The week is flying by and today is the last day of release week for Newton’s Nook Designs. Your favorite kitty is back again today and this time Newton gets a scooter!
This little kitty called out to be a girl to me so I gave her a hot pink scooter and some great coordinating accessories. Don’t you love her scarf? The sentiments that go with this image are just fantastic for many different occasions. Love that!
I colored our little friend using Zig Clean Color Markers and created a background with Distress Ink. I pulled some of the colors from the image and found coordinating paper from my stash that matched perfectly. YAY! The scallop border is created with the Sky Borders Dies and it is just the right layer for adding my sentiment. The clouds in the set would have been fun on the background circle but somehow one ending up as the “exhaust” instead. Oh so cute! You can get you chance to win this free but make sure you work fast!
