Happy Wednesday to you! I hope your week is going well. Here to share the latest from Freshly Made Sketches. The amazingly talented Kim Singdahlsen is our sketch hostess this week and I was super inspired by her challenge. It seemed just right for a baby card I needed to make for a very special family member whose shower is coming up.

I thought the set called “i love you momma” from Picket Fence Studios was perfect for both the sketch and for the shower. And I admit that I’m a total sucker for the namesake sentiment since one of my boys says that to me (more lately with all that has been happening). I stamped both the momma goose and her little one using the new Picket Fence Studios Hybrid Ink. It was my first time using it and I wanted to give it a go with Copic markers. And I love it! Works great and I can’t wait to try it with more mediums.

After I had colored the geese, I cut them out with new prototype dies for the set. More dies will be coming to the shop soon and I’m really excited about that. I added a sentiment from the set and then started with some details. The Double Stitched Square Dies from Gina Marie Designs are wonderful and I love this pretty gingham paper from Lawn Fawn. To keep with the sketch I added some ribbon and a coordinating button from my stash (SU retired). I included most of the colors I used below but the grays are the Toner Grays.

Picket Fence Studios November Release – Ruffled Peony Bouquet

Back today with a card I created for the Picket Fence Studios blog. I am super excited about how this turned out and I hope you will like it too. I even create a video for it…wow, it has been a while since I have done that.

I saw a similar technique done by the amazing Kelly Latevola and had it in my “to try” list for quite a while. This lovely Ruffled Peony Bouquet set seemed like the perfect one to use with it so I got to experimenting. In my video, I talk a bit about The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. I cannot recommend joining in enough. Even if you don’t share it all, a little coloring every day (or every day that you can) for a month can make a big difference in your attitude and your creativity. I think it allows me to try more things, risk “failing” and it is good for the soul.

I’d love to know what you think about this technique. I will confess that as I created it, I kept thinking how my my mom would have loved this. But maybe that is why coloring is so good. Picket Fence Studios November Release – Jill Girl

I was having so much designing with the new stamps from Picket Fence Studios that I wanted to share another card with you right away. If you were anywhere near the design team’s posts yesterday, I’m sure you have already seen and fallen in love with this wonderful Jill Girl stamp. I’ll admit that she intimidated me a bit but I decided just to jump in and see what happened. I started with her hair to see how that would go. All in all, I kind of liked it so I continued on and eventually found that I liked the coloring enough to turn it into a card.

Sometimes it is nice just to color and not be sure that it will “be” something. If you need an excuse, the Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge is currently running and there are tons of people coloring just for fun. It is awesome!! But Jill wanted to become a card so I added her onto a background that is really a Christmas print pack (SU). The striped are neutral enough to be anything though. Love prints like that. The sentiment is from another of the new sets called Rustic Floral and it seemed right for her (I also found that another DT member, Jana Millen, used the same one….isn’t it funny when that happens in the big craft world??? I kind of like to imagine it was like we were crafting together instead of all being miles apart.)

I think this image is going to be wildly popular (based on the reaction by the DT alone). Something about her is really special! I am going to be on the Picket Fence Studios blog tomorrow morning with a card I think you will love. More coloring and a new to me technique that I have been wanting to try for a while. Picket Fence Studios November Release Day and FMS #363

Hi everyone! I’m happy to be back today after my month of time off. I have to start with a big thank you to all who sent me such kind words on the passing of my mother. I feel like blogging is one of the last things to conquer but I know that my stamping community will understand some inconsistencies over the next month or so. Suffice it to say that my sister and I still have much to do. All of the sweet cards, nice comments and emails were very much appreciated and I’m truly grateful.

I’m back today with the start of the November release from Picket Fence Studios and I’m the sketch hostess for Freshly Made Sketches too. Nothing like jumping in with both feet! While I haven’t been posting, I have been doing some work and have things to share with you over the next couple of weeks. Maybe even a video…gasp!!! But not today, haha! Today, I’m just sharing this adorable new image set called Coffee Understands and a must-have background stamp called Rough Around the Edges. This gives you just an idea of how great the new release is and I’ve had such fun just creating with the sets.

This fun gal was the inspiration for my sketch (the joy of being the hostess)! Isn’t she adorable? I colored her using my Copic markers. This was the first card I had made in a month and I totally appreciated how fast this was to color. And then choosing a sentiment… Well, this one simply made me laugh out loud so clearly it was the winner! I’m not lying when I say that there is a tad bit of truth to this one for me over the last month… Patience is not always my strong suit and I have needed a bit of it as we tread through paperwork and details.

For the background layer, I thought this sketch was the perfect place to show you a peek of a new stamp. Rough Around the Edges is a striped pattern that will find itself on many cards. Just a perfectly neutral pattern that can be used for bold or subtle designs. LOVE that! I chose a few sequins from SU to keep with the fall colors of the coffee cup and that is it.

Let It Snow

Just a quick share today with one of the new October release sets from Picket Fence Studios called A Gnome Winter. I love this fellow! Tons of personality!

I stamped our little friend onto white cardstock and colored him with Copic markers. Then I pulled out this sweet background die by Gina Marie Designs (Falling Snow Background Die) and cut out the layer. I stamped the sentiment from the set and put the image layer on a blue background. Finally I found these Shark Bite sequins matched perfectly.

My Kind of Crazy

I’m back today with another card sharing some of the new products from the Picket Fence Studios October Release. For today I combined an adorable new image with a sentiment from a not coordinating but oh so perfect set.

I love this funny little owl and her quirky look! Those eyebrows make me chuckle! There is another new sentiment that is awesome for her (Throw on a Crown) but I needed one that I could use with a sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch. So I chose My Man, My Friend…some of the sentiments are for the men in your life but others are universal. This one seems like the perfect fit with my Princess Owl! I colored her with Copic Markers and then added a little doily behind her for texture.

This sketch was perfect for showing her off! I originally planned on a white base but that was a bit too plain so I chose a base of Lemon Cardstock instead. This is such a pretty yellow!

Picket Fence Studios October Release – Lily Bouquet

Well, I have some awesome news for you today! It is Picket Fence Studios October Release day!! WOOHOO!! I have a special card to share today and will be sharing projects made with the new sets over the next week. So. Many. Awesome. Things!!!

I could hardly choose where to start but anyone who knows me, knows that I have a serious weakness for flowers. The Lily Bouquet set is too pretty to resist so off I went to my stamp room for some time coloring. I took a Copic coloring class from my friend Lori Craig a couple of years ago and this color scheme came from the time I had in that class. I thought it was worth re-visiting for this gorgeous flower set and I love it!! I used a sentiment from the wonderful Ways to Say Get Well set (a must have for any sentiment ~~hoarder~~ collector like me).

I liked the idea of a virtually uncluttered card front so I only added a few pink sequins but I wanted to add another special touch. I went to another technique that I love of using a colored base for a pretty surprise. The Cotton Cardstock from Simon Says Stamp was the perfect pink to coordinate with the lilies and I love the result.

Freshly Made Sketches #358

I am so happy to share with you this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. Our hostess this week is the fabulous Karren Johnson and this sketch is super fun! Pull out your favorite trios!

I chose the Simply Wonderful set by Picket Fence Studios and used two of the flower stamps for the trio element. First I created the circle with Distress Ink on Bristol Smooth paper. The Life Changing Blender Brushes and Squeezed Lemonade Ink made short work of that. Then I stamped in Distress Oxide Ink for the flower since the ink layers a bit. Finally I added this great sentiment from the set. LOVE the font on this!! I layered onto some yellow card stock and kept the card super clean.

I created a card for both today’s Picket Fence Studios blog and for a product review for Splitcoaststampers on a new ink from Clearsnap. The inks are called Colorbox Dyestress Inks and they are really beautiful! I had such fun blending these colors together and creating a cool background using a new to me technique that is perfect for distress inks.

I’m going to send you to the Picket Fence Studios blog for the how-to but suffice it to say that you NEED these Life Changing Blender Brushes. I put off some backgrounds that required blending because I was forever getting streaks or edges or something that seemed to ruin what I was working on. Not with these brushes!

The other product I want to share directly here are the dies I used for this card. They come from Gina Marie Designs and they are wonderful. I used the Double Stitched Rectangles and the Flower Burst Trio. I love this site (and I have no affiliate there….simply loving her dies and her pricing!).
