Freshly Made Sketches #386 plus a Bonus Card

Hi all! I get to have a double play today! First of all, it is Freshly Made Sketches day. We have a new, awesome sketch by Jennifer Brum and it is super fun! Second, I’m over on the Picket Fence Studios blog AND up with a Product Focus Review for Splitcoaststampers. YAY!!!

So first up, my card for FMS. I love this fun sketch and the angle makes it a real standout. I started off with a base from Clearsnap called Creative Cards. These are super fun (and available on Amazon). I topped it off with an old retired paper for contrast. The little birds are from a Picket Fence Studios stamp set called Chirp Chirp which is super cute. I cut the birds out with the coordinating dies (what a life saver for small images!). The birds were colored with new colors of Dyestress Inks by Clearsnap. And that brings me to my Product Focus Review. I have reviewed the Dyestress Inks before but I now have the newest color release and it is wonderful! I’m sure you have noticed a couple of other cards using them (last week’s FMS card was one). Thinking of You for Picket Fence Studios

I’m over at the Picket Fence Studios blog today with this card. I love the look of bold sentiments with stencils. Let’s face it, the Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence Studios makes short work of inking with stencils and they are such fun to play with now.

I decided to use some new colors from Colorbox Inks in the Dyestress line. These are really pretty together, don’t you think? I love that I was able to find sequins to match too. The sentiments are actually from two different sets but I loved how they layered together. You can find all the details over at the Picket Fence Studios blog today. You Make Me Smile

I thoughts I’d share a sweet little Monday card with you. I created this just for fun using the new Rustic Floral set from Picket Fence Studios. I love this darling little image and the sentiments in the set are perfect for note cards for many occasions. I stamped this in the new Black Hybrid Ink from Picket Fence and wow! Hybrid it is! I tested it with Copics and this was my watercolor test. PERFECT! I love a one stop black ink! It doesn’t budge or smear with either. Not sure how that is possible but some things just don’t require an explanation. I’ll accept that it is crafting magic!

After coloring the image and the background of this with Daniel Smith watercolors (just some quick and easy coloring) I cut it out using the Wonky Circle Dies by Gina Marie Designs. The stitched background is made with the same set…it cuts the stitches separately from the circle cutting die. So clever!

Picket Fence Studios November Release – Jill Girl

I was having so much designing with the new stamps from Picket Fence Studios that I wanted to share another card with you right away. If you were anywhere near the design team’s posts yesterday, I’m sure you have already seen and fallen in love with this wonderful Jill Girl stamp. I’ll admit that she intimidated me a bit but I decided just to jump in and see what happened. I started with her hair to see how that would go. All in all, I kind of liked it so I continued on and eventually found that I liked the coloring enough to turn it into a card.

Sometimes it is nice just to color and not be sure that it will “be” something. If you need an excuse, the Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge is currently running and there are tons of people coloring just for fun. It is awesome!! But Jill wanted to become a card so I added her onto a background that is really a Christmas print pack (SU). The striped are neutral enough to be anything though. Love prints like that. The sentiment is from another of the new sets called Rustic Floral and it seemed right for her (I also found that another DT member, Jana Millen, used the same one….isn’t it funny when that happens in the big craft world??? I kind of like to imagine it was like we were crafting together instead of all being miles apart.)

I think this image is going to be wildly popular (based on the reaction by the DT alone). Something about her is really special! I am going to be on the Picket Fence Studios blog tomorrow morning with a card I think you will love. More coloring and a new to me technique that I have been wanting to try for a while.
