Christmas In July

Christmas In July published on No Comments on Christmas In July

You want to know something about blogging? You can write up a post and then, if you don’t set the time to go live, it can sit in the holding pattern for days. Yeah. Ask me how I know. So, while this was supposed to go live yesterday, just write it off to summer crazies.

I’m continuing my sharing of the Picket Fence Studios July Release today with a fun Christmas card. As soon as I saw this pretty Fern Picture Frame image, all I could think of was Christmas options. So I created this bright happy and almost summery version of a Christmas card.

I used the Colorbox Dyestress Inks from Clearsnap and blended together two colors (Citronella and Inchworm) for a quick and easy background to the wreath. I over stamped the image on the blended section and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder to give it a little more texture. I found this sentiment in the String of Lights set and simply masked off part of it. I found a coordinating green card stock (SU) and some sequins to give a little more shine.

I love all the possibilities with this set and I’m sure you can see them too! Make sure you hop over and look at the whole release. So much to love!

Thanks for stopping in today. I appreciate you spending a few minutes with me and look forward to seeing you again tomorrow for the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.

Freshly Made Sketches #386 plus a Bonus Card

Freshly Made Sketches #386 plus a Bonus Card published on 5 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #386 plus a Bonus Card

Hi all!  I get to have a double play today!  First of all, it is Freshly Made Sketches day.  We have a new, awesome sketch by Jennifer Brum and it is super fun!  Second, I’m over on the Picket Fence Studios blog AND up with a Product Focus Review for Splitcoaststampers.  YAY!!!

FMS386 by Jen Timko | Chirp Chirp Stamp Set and Dies by Picket Fence Studios, Creative Cards by Clearsnap, Dyestress Ink by ClearsnapSo first up, my card for FMS.  I love this fun sketch and the angle makes it a real standout.  I started off with a base from Clearsnap called Creative Cards.  These are super fun (and available on Amazon).  I topped it off with an old retired paper for contrast.  The little birds are from a Picket Fence Studios stamp set called Chirp Chirp which is super cute.  I cut the birds out with the coordinating dies (what a life saver for small images!).  The birds were colored with new colors of Dyestress Inks by Clearsnap.  And that brings me to my Product Focus Review.  I have reviewed the Dyestress Inks before but I now have the newest color release and it is wonderful!  I’m sure you have noticed a couple of other cards using them (last week’s FMS card was one).  This was all part of my analysis.  You can read all about it here:  Splitcoaststampers Product Focus

Sunny Peacock by Jen Timko | Peacock Tail Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Spotlight on You Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Colorbox Dyestress Ink by Clearsnap, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence Studios, Summer Glitter Paper by Concord and 9th My “bonus” card today is also for that review and I posted it over at the Picket Fence Studios blog today with the details.  I just wanted to share it so you could see it here too.  Head over to the blog to read all about it!

Whew…lots to typing and busy, busy.  I hope you enjoy both of these cards.  Remember to go see the ink review at Splitcoaststampers and the peacock card at Picket Fence Studios.  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you again soon!  (FYI, I separated the links into the two cards to make it simpler for you)

You know that feeling when you need lots of days off to make up for your vacation?  Yeah.  I need that.  But sadly, no.  So I have a card but I’m going to be really fast on my post.  The amazing Kim has a great sketch for us and I immediately thought of this dandelion set by Picket Fence Studios.  I’m also still playing with some new ink colors from Clearsnap.  FUN!!

FMS385 by Jen Timko | Dandelion Wishes Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Dyestress Ink by Clearsnap, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosSo I took watercolor paper and applied the ink in Bumblebee and Inchworm using a Life Changing Blender Brush.  So fast and easy!  Then I stamped the dandelion from Dandelion Wishes (Picket Fence Studios) with black ink.    I splattered the distress ink with some water to add those watermarks (love the texture from that). And then I added a sentiment from the set to part of a panel that I had trimmed off and added a black base.

See, told you it was fast!  I’m back to work tomorrow.  We went on an adventure to Utah last week (Park City area) and had quite a nice trip.  The boys had never seen mountains like those so it was fun for them to experience.  Make sure you drop over to the FMS site for all the team inspiration.  Until next time, have a great day!

Thinking of You for Picket Fence Studios

Thinking of You for Picket Fence Studios published on No Comments on Thinking of You for Picket Fence Studios

I’m over at the Picket Fence Studios blog today with this card.  I love the look of bold sentiments with stencils.   Let’s face it, the Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence Studios makes short work of inking with stencils and they are such fun to play with now.

Thinking of You by Jen Timko | Fish Scales Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Ways to Say Get Well by Picket Fence Studios, Rustic Floral by Picket Fence Studios, Life Changing Blender Brushes, Colorbox Dyestress InksI decided to use some new colors from Colorbox Inks in the Dyestress line.  These are really pretty together, don’t you think?  I love that I was able to find sequins to match too.  The sentiments are actually from two different sets but I loved how they layered together.  You can find all the details over at the Picket Fence Studios blog today.  And get ready, Sunday April 14th is release day and I’ll be back to enable you then!  See you soon!

I created a card for both today’s Picket Fence Studios blog and for a product review for Splitcoaststampers on a new ink from Clearsnap.  The inks are called Colorbox Dyestress Inks and they are really beautiful!  I had such fun blending these colors together and creating a cool background using a new to me technique that is perfect for distress inks.

Smile by Jen Timko | Rose Bouquet Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Colorbox Dyestress Inks, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence Studios, Flower Burst Trio Die by Gina Marie DesignsI’m going to send you to the Picket Fence Studios blog for the how-to but suffice it to say that you NEED these Life Changing Blender Brushes.  I put off some backgrounds that required blending because I was forever getting streaks or edges or something that seemed to ruin what I was working on.  Not with these brushes!

The other product I want to share directly here are the dies I used for this card.  They come from Gina Marie Designs and they are wonderful.  I used the Double Stitched Rectangles and the Flower Burst Trio.  I love this site (and I have no affiliate there….simply loving her dies and her pricing!).

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope you like this card and this technique.  See you soon!

I’m thrilled to be sharing one more card as the Guest Designer for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers today.  I’m back using Picket Fence Studios products and I hope you enjoy this.

Cool Beans by Jen Timko | BFF Owl Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Ways to Say Congrats Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosI’m pretty much in love with the sweet owls and this BFF Owl is super fun to color. I went a little out of the box on her palette and used the new Color Box Dyestress Inks by Clearsnap. They have some beautiful shades and they are great for easy watercoloring and blending. I stamped the owl in Versafine Onyx Black and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Once she was colored I used the new Circle Stencil from Picket Fence Studios and the Life Changing Blender Brushes to create her spotlight.

Cool Beans by Jen Timko | BFF Owl Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Ways to Say Congrats Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosYou can see that there are seriously no lines from the blending. And the brushes come in big and little sizes so you can use them for all your stencils. The really are life changing when it comes to simplifying your blending. For the sentiment, I used another set from Picket Fence Studios (soon to arrive in the store) called Ways to Say Congrats. This one is perfect for all us coffee fans, don’t you think?

I had so much fun joining in on the Coffee Loving fun this month that I’ll be a part of  their hop celebrating National Coffee Day!!!  A whole day to celebrate coffee…I’m all in!!  And I’m lucky enough to be one of the hop participants with a sponsored prize.  You won’t want to miss it!!  Come back tomorrow for all the fun.  Until then, thanks for stopping in today.

FMS354 by Jen Timko | Dream On Stamp Set by Pinkfresh Studios, Dyestress Inks by ClearsnapI’m happy to be back with you today to share a fabulous sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess is the talented and oh so witty Linda Callahan.  I love her whimsical takes on sketches and stamp sets!

Her sketch this week reminded me of this little stamp set from Pinkfresh Studios called Dream On.  I love the little images and the sentiments in it and it had not gotten nearly enough use.  I hope that I didn’t stray too far from the sketch but I’m sure Linda will forgive me if I did.

I stamped the image onto a Strathmore Watercolor Notecard (these are the fabulous watercolor paper all pre-cut and ready to go with envelopes).  I used Versafine Onyx Black and then watercolored with a new product from Clearsnap called the Dyestress Blendable Dye Inks.  These are beautiful distress style ink in gorgeous colors.  I just got them so I used this card as a bit of a palette test.  Pretty, aren’t they?!  I thought this sentiment kind of fit my mood as I was creating it.  I know I didn’t make my usual Sept. 11th post yesterday but, truthfully, there is a lot going on with our family and I just didn’t have it in me.  So in a way, this is my tribute card.  It is hard in the face of tragedy to be happy.  But it is ok to try to own it and allow yourself to heal and find joy.  So I have this card for just the right day and just the right person.

I hope that you have a wonderful and peaceful week.  Take a moment to allow yourself to be happy!  And for those of you who are facing hurricanes, fires and other tragedies, please know that I am thinking of you and your safety!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you on Friday with lots of fun things!

Feature Friday with Concord and 9th – Furry Friends

Merry Reindeer by Jen Timko | Furry Friends Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, O Christmas Tree Stamp Set by Concord and 9thToday I have my last Feature Friday with Concord and 9th and we are showing off the new Furry Friends stamp set.  So many different elements with so many options!!  So of course I had to make two cards.

First up, I chose the reindeer and decided to turn him into a little Rudolph for Christmas.  My first Christmas card of the year, I think.  I stamped the wreath and added some clear rhinestones for sparkle.  Then I stamped the line image for the deer and added the inner solid images.

Merry Reindeer by Jen Timko | Furry Friends Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, O Christmas Tree Stamp Set by Concord and 9thThese are remarkable easy to line up, especially if you have a MISTI.  I did the same for the antlers and again, easy to line up.  I colored a rhinestone with a red Copic Marker to add to the nose…so fun!!  Finally a sentiment from one of my favorites, O Christmas Tree.  I put the image panel over some great red patterned paper to help pull the red from the nose and to give it a festive feel.  These would be easy to make in a stack (I need to get on that)!

Party Animal by Jen Timko | Furry Friends Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, Shaker Card, Marbled Smooch Technique, Smooch Accent InkFor my second card, I thought the unicorn option would be fun.  I used some leftover panels that I had created using the Marbled Smooch technique and as part of my Smooch Accent Ink review for Splitcoaststampers.  The panel on the back side of the shaker and the paper pieced mane on the unicorn were cut from a pattern I created.   I thought the blues and purples were a natural for a unicorn.  I stamped the horn, colored with some Gold Lamé Smooch and then stamped again one the Smooch was dry to cover if I went a little out of the lines.  Again, the MISTI is perfect to make this fast and simple.  The frame is from the coordinating die set in the bundle…love those stitched details, don’t you?  I added a variety of sequins to match and put the shaker and sentiment on a base of Fog Gray.

It has been such a privilege to work with Concord and 9th this month.  I’m grateful for the chance to help show off these amazing products and I have become even more of a fan of C9 (if that is possible).  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Good Friends Are Like Stars…

Good Friends Are Like Stars… published on 2 Comments on Good Friends Are Like Stars…

Happy Friday!!  Wow it has been quite a week and I’m happy to end it with this week’s Feature Friday with Concord and 9th.  This week we are focusing on the City Stacks bundle.  There are so many options with this set that my head was spinning with ideas.  After pondering a bit, I settled down into an idea that centers on this amazing sentiment.  I LOVE this sentiment.

I stamped the tree image onto Bristol Smooth paper and colored using some Daniel Smith watercolor paints.  Just different shades of green.  With a quick cut using the coordinating dies, this layer was done.  Then I took another piece of Bristol Smooth and inked it up with a variety of blue Distress Inks.  I splattered with a bit of water and then finished with a little splatters of gold Smooch Accent Ink to mimic stars (the stamp set has stars so that is totally a great choice too).  And then I debated some more.  I finally settled on using a dark blue panel that is cut using the “top” die from the die set.  I like the detail it gives.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  Finally, to add the perfect finish with all the gold, I added a small strip of the gold glitter paper from the Neutrals Glitter Paper Pack.  All the shine is hard to capture in a photo but it is really spectacular in person.

I popped up my layers on foam tape but this bundle is designed to create 3-D cards.  Make sure you watch the tutorials from Concord and 9th to see how cool this is!  You can also see inspiration from all the Feature Friday designers on the Concord and 9th Blog.  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you again soon!

Feature Friday with Concord and 9th – Star Turnabout

Feature Friday with Concord and 9th – Star Turnabout published on No Comments on Feature Friday with Concord and 9th – Star Turnabout

It's Your Time to Shine by Jen Timko | Shine On Stamp Set by Concord and 9th, Star Turnabout Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, Summer Glitter Paper Pack by Concord and 9thI’m thrilled to be able to share my projects for this week’s Feature Friday with Concord and 9th today.  Today we are highlighting the amazing Star Turnabout bundle and they are fabulous.  If you are new to the “turnabout” concept, let me tell you…it is such an original concept and really fun.  On this first card today, I did three of the turns with some selective inking on the stars to leave room for my sentiment.  The sentiment is from Shine On (part of the June release as well) and I love how it works with the stars!  I stamped both the sentiments and the stars using Versafine Onyx Black in and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  This adds, well, shine.

It's Your Time to Shine by Jen Timko | Shine On Stamp Set by Concord and 9th, Star Turnabout Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, Summer Glitter Paper Pack by Concord and 9thOnce I got all the stamping done (your Misti makes short work of this and there are great tutorial videos over at the Concord and 9th site that show you how this works), I moved on to adding more shimmer with the Summer Glitter Paper Pack.  You get this FREE with any $60+ order through July 8, 2018.  And oh, look at this blue!  It is spectacular.  I cut out some of the paper with the Star Turnabout Dies and used the little cutouts on my card.  I attached the stars and dots using a Sakura Quickie Glue Pen which made it super easy.  Then I added a layer of the glitter paper behind my stamped panel attached to the base of the card (4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″).  I love that this is a great card for just about anyone who needs encouragement.

Shine by Jen Timko | Star Turnabout Dies by Concord and 9th, Shine On Dies by Concord and 9th, Neutrals Glitter Paper Pack, Smooch Accent Ink by ClearsnapI could not resist making a second card with this great bundle.  This time I stuck to neutrals and played with variations on silver.  The Neutrals Glitter Paper Pack provided the sparkle and some Smooch Accent Ink gave the silver finish on the word die and extra stars.  I cut the white card stock with the Star Turnabout Die once (multiple cuts are seriously cool too).  I put the Silver Glitter paper under the popped up top layer.  Then I added a layer of washi, Silver Glitter paper and the sentiment.

Shine by Jen Timko | Star Turnabout Dies by Concord and 9th, Shine On Dies by Concord and 9th, Neutrals Glitter Paper Pack, Smooch Accent Ink by ClearsnapAll I had done was cut the sentiment and then paint it (and some of the stars from the white cut out) with the Smooch Accent Ink.  While it dried, I cut out some stars and dots from the Silver Glitter.  Then I popped all those on the card.  The “Shine” used some foam tape and the star and dots the same glue as the first card.

I hope you like these projects for today’s Feature Friday.  I’m certain that you fill find tons more inspiration over at the Concord and 9th Blog today.  Thank you so much for stopping in and I will see you for another feature next Friday.  Lots more coming next week too!  See you then!
