Dare To Get Dirty – Day 1 published on 3 Comments on Dare To Get Dirty – Day 1

DTGD16stampmomma - Fancy FlowersToday starts the most wonderful week of inspiration over at Splitcoaststampers!!!  It is Dare To Get Dirty Challenges week and you will not even believe all that SCS has planned!  As a former “Dirty Girl”, I get to participate on the planning side and will even be hosting my own challenge later in the week.  How do you get to see all this fabulousness??  You simply have to be a Fan Club Member at Splitcoaststampers.  Not only can you see all the details of the challenges, you can participate with present and past Dirty Girls.  And trust me….I have seen the challenges!  You will want to play!

My card today is a sample for Lori Craig’s Challenge (DTGD16stampmomma).  I can’t share the details of the challenge but you really need to see the inspiration for this card!  I started by coloring these flowers from Altenew’s Botanical Garden using Chameleon Pens (a technique I learned from my friend Ilina Crouse).  I am completely in love with these flowers!!!  I added them to a white base that I stamped with a sentiment from the July Paper Pumpkin (SU).  Don’t you love this one??  I cut the edge with my Border Builders die from Lil’ Inker Designs.  I added some sequins from my stash.  I love how the brushed gold ones match the Crumb Cake! I am a sample maker for another challenge on Aug 4th and my challenge will be on Aug 5th.  I hope you will join in the fun!!

CTS#181 - Day Filled with SunshineI have  fun card to share with you today!  I have been trying to play along with the 30-day Coloring Challenge again.  I miss some days but I like that I think about taking time (even just a few minutes) to color….just because.  It also pushes me to look for inspiration and find some fun challenges in which to play.  I was able to do just that for this card.  I started using the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge for the week as my sketch and also decided to join the Simon Wednesday Challenge.  The sketch is a wonderfully clean one that I hope I didn’t stretch too far.  The Simon challenge is to create a scene with a focus on Newton’s Nook stamps.

I used the adorable stamp set Newton’s Day Dream to create this little scene.  As usual for all cat things, my cat muse is my sweet little calico Kate.  I think in her perfect world she would nap with all these fun things flying about.  Or so she tells me when she tried to sneak outside and is caught.  *smile*  I colored using my Zig Clean Color Pens in the following colors:IMG_3591I really do love coloring with these pens so much!!  I cut the image panel out using my Wonky Stitches die to add a little more fun detail.  Just a quick post today.  I hope you have a lovely Saturday filled with sunshine.

FMS245 - Happy BirdsI am so happy to be able to share our adorable sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  This one is such fun and lends itself to so many things….DSP, colored panels, great focal images.  Should not come as a surprise that the incredible Jen Mitchell is this week’s sketch hostess!

I opted to focus on a fun stamp from WPlus9’s Happy Birds.  These birds still just crack me up!  I  colored him using my Zig Clean Color Markers (just two colored needed).  I chose zig-zag print from Pop of Pink DSP (SU) and cut it a using Border Builders die from Lil’ Inkers.  The focal panel was cut with a Stitched Rectangles die (SSS).  I chose a sentiment from Paper Pumpkin….I know….those seem to be my go-to lately but they really are so trendy and great!  I finally topped it with a few sequins.

FMS Final 245-001I hope you have a great time with this one.  Guessing the gallery will be just loaded with inspiration!!  I’ll be back tomorrow with a new card that has a Product Review for Splitcoaststampers.  It even included a video tutorial so I hope you’ll stop in!  See you soon!

One of a Kind

One of a Kind published on 2 Comments on One of a Kind

One of a KindI hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  I had some time to stamp during the week and wanted to share this fun little card with you.  I feel like sometimes I get so caught up in techniques and supplies and all the shiny things in stamping that I forget the basics of just stamps and ink.  So today, that is what I’m sharing with you.  A basic and fun card that I made just because it made me happy.

I got this little One of a Kind stamp set from Altenew awhile ago because I simply love the size and style of the flower.  Also, because I feel like this sentiment is timely and perfect for so many things.  After all, we are each one of a kind aren’t we?  It is good to celebrate that!!!  I inked up this little flower using the Colorbox 4-color ink box in the Fall palette.  The ink box is kind of unique in that it has four colors in one box that are meant to go together.  I inked the top of the flower in the purple and the bottom in the green from the box and stamped onto watercolor paper.  Then I pulled some ink with my Zig Brush2O and touched in a little more color.  The sentiment was stamped in the blue from the box.  I cut it out with a stitched rectangle and put it on a Night of Navy base.  Simple, clean and sweet.

I hope you will find some time today to create something because it makes you happy.  You deserve it!  Take care of you because you are unique, special and one of a kind!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Jen Timko - FMS244 - Spring DaisiesHappy July to you!!  I hope that you have had a great start to the month.  You may have noticed I have been mostly absent over the last week or so.  Well, I was!  Because I was on vacation!  YAY!!!  My family and I went to the beach for a week and then added onto the vacation with a trip to downtown Washington DC for a baseball game and the big fireworks on the 4th.  The weather was a bit soggy but the game played on and the family had a great time.  Even the fireworks managed to go up despite the low ceilings.  But now I’m home and getting everything back in order.  So I’ll start by being the sketch hostess for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches.

I continued to play with my new Colorbox inks, this time in the Spring color palette.  I thought it would be fun to pull out the little Daisy stamp from Altenew and do a bit of masking to create this little trio of flowers.  Pretty, aren’t they?!  The layering of the colors comes from just stamping off the inks in various degrees to create the shades.  Super simple way to make sure your colors coordinate perfectly!  Speaking of coordinating….aren’t these sequins an awesome match?!    I picked out two from Pretty Pink Posh and one from an old Paper Pumpkin.  The sentiment is from the Skipping Stones Design set Healing Wings.  I cut the stamped layer using my retired Ovals Dies (SU) and then attached it to a White Notecard from SU.

FMS Final 244-001I hope that you enjoy this sketch!  The team must have because their samples this week are incredible!!  I look forward to seeing you in the gallery too!  Now….back to laundry….  And maybe just a bit of stamping too, I hope.  Until next time, I hope you have a great day!

FMS243 - Just for youHappy Wednesday!!  I hope your week is going well.  I have just what you need to make your week keep moving along…a sketch from our lovely resident Artisan Amy O’Neill.  She created a fabulous sketch to get us moving and I just love it!

I wanted to play with some new inks I have from ColorBox and they seemed perfect combined with these images from Altenew’s Botanical Garden.  I embossed the images onto vellum using the Copper Embossing Powder (yep, still obsessed with it) and then colored on the back side with the inks from the Fall color selection of the Premium Dye Inks.  Great colors don’t you think?!  I added a sentiment from Paper Pumpkin (those seem to be my go-to lately, don’t they?) and embossed it with the copper too.  The panel was cut using a Stitched Rectangles Die from Simon Says Stamp.  Clean and simple with minimal layers.  The perfect summer card!

FMS Final 243-001I think you are going to have a lot of fun using this one and I expect the gallery to be really full!  Ok, off to see the rest of the team’s beautiful work.  I hope you’ll join us this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #242

FMS242 - Copper HelloWe have an awesome week for you over at Freshly Made Sketches!  To start, we have a super fun sketch that you are sure to love.  It comes from our resident queen of layers and fussy cutting…the lovely Narelle!  And we also have a great announcement!  GUEST DESIGNERS!!  And in true FMS style, you are going to be wow’d by these two stampers!!

First to my card.  I am all in on copper!  I mean seriously ALL IN!!!  Stampin’ Up has new copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and Copper Metallic Thread in the new catty and it is so pretty.  Coppery, kind of rose gold-ish….and gorgeous!  I kept this card super clean to show it off!  I stamped using the great flower from Flourishing Phrases in Versamark Ink onto White Vellum Card Stock and heat embossed the image with the Copper EP.  Then I cut this little flower our using the coordinating Flourish Thinlits from Thick WW Card Stock.  I “smooshed” the flower into Versamark and heat embossed it too.  To get it nice and thick and metallic looking, I re-stamped and re-embossed.  It looks just like it was cut from a piece of metal.  I layered the white banner piece under the sentiment to help it pop more.  The hardest part of this card is securing it together.  We all know that vellum is particularly fussy on that.  I used Glue Dots that were folded in half (ish) and tucked them under the bases of the flowers in the stamped image and on the die cut too.  There is also one under the ‘o’ in Hello.  One more note: this copper is way prettier than in the picture.  Something about metallics and sparkles that never quite photograph true.

Now to our guest stampers!  Shannon Jaramillo and Cécile Ribon have bravely agreed to join our happy little band of enablers through the summer!  In fairness, I did warn them to hold on to their wallets but I have it on good authority that they might be enablers themselves!!  *smile*  We are so happy to have them with us!  Make sure you go check out their work along with that of the rest of the DT.  Beautiful!

I’ll be back on Friday with the latest from Fancy Friday.  We have a doozy of theme this month so you won’t want to miss it!  Until then, thanks for stopping in!

It’s Dad’s Day

It’s Dad’s Day published on 2 Comments on It’s Dad’s Day

Jacob Timko - It's Dad's DayI told you I would have a guest designer on my blog today and it is none other than my oldest son!  He created a card for Father’s Day that I just had to share!!  (Don’t worry, he approved)  He chose the Bon Voyage stamp set and colored it using my T series gray Copics to make it look like dad’s airplane.  Cute, right?!  Then I showed him how to create a sponged sky using Tim Holtz Distress Ink and the Mini Ink Blending Tool.  He created a super cool sky, don’t you think?!  He wanted a cloud too so that was stamped and cut using the coordinating dies (as was the plane).  Then he picked a sentiment from the May Paper Pumpkin.  I LOVE this sentiment!! In order to get the sentiment just right, he pulled out my trusty Misti to get the perfect alignment and fully inked stamping.  Because he just had to have it perfect after all the work on the sky panel!   The panel was cut using Stitched Rectangles and popped up on Dimensionals.  I think he totally rocked this card!!  I’m sure my husband will be totally thrilled.  Little brother created his own work of art too (never to be outdone).  So they made mom’s day while working to make dad’s day fabulous!

I hope that your weekend is lovely!  Thanks for dropping in to see my talented guest’s work!!

Amazing Goalie for Coach

Amazing Goalie for Coach published on 1 Comment on Amazing Goalie for Coach

Amazing Goalie for CoachA quick post for Saturday since I had some things I wanted to share.  Many of you know that besides driving the Airbus for United, I spend a great deal of my time driving the mom “bus” as a soccer mom.  At the end of the year, I always feel like I need to do something special for coaches.  These people give so much of themselves in their dedication to training the kids.  I pulled out my Goalie Saves stamp from Lili of the Valley and this time I colored him to look like my youngest.  Little boy is also a keeper (these kids really stress my nerves in games!) and he wears an orange shirt and has shiny blue cleats.  The yellow blonde is pretty accurate too!  I colored him using my Zig Clean Color Pens.  They are AWESOME for this kind of image!!  My sentiment is a favorite from one of my old Paper Pumpkins and is a go-to for so many cards.  My little keeper wrote a sweet note inside and delivered it last weekend.  I hope coach enjoyed a small token of how much he is appreciated!!

Well, back out today for a trip.  I have a “guest designer” for my post tomorrow on Father’s Day.  Hope to see you then.  Thanks for stopping in!

Jen Timko - B4B - Coastal ButterflyNow for my card set!  I created a set of 4 cards that I hope you will love.  These use the butterfly from Healing Wings and the sentiment from Breathtaking Butterflies.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks on Watercolor Paper to color this amazing image.  Once they were colored, I hand cut them to help them pop on the page.  I started with blue and green inks combined with a Coastal Cabana base.  I had so much fun making it, that I made two. Jen Timko - B4B - Coastal PairThen I decided I should make a set of four cards and wanted to try another color scheme.  So I played around with yellows and oranges and found that the resulting butterfly matched my new Flirty Flamingo card stock.  Jen Timko - B4B - Flamingo butterflyI colored in much the same way and simply added different sequins to match the inks.B4B - FlamingoI love the results on both colors of cards!!

So now we get down to the nitty-gritty!  I hope you will consider bidding on this set.  Please remember to leave your bid and your email address in the comments of this post to be eligible.  You are also most welcome to leave comments without a bid since I always appreciate hearing from you!Jen Timko - B4B - Auction SetSupplies:
