FMS252 - Flower HugsWow, has it already been a week since I posted??  Holy smokes August has flown by!!  I think the end of summer flying just zapped my brain!  Fortunately I am off this week and have some time to stamp.  YAY!!!!  First order of business was this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  And it is awesome, just like the sketch designer Karren Johnson!  Ok….I confess that when I saw the 4 circles I had a moment of panic.  But then I realized I could do just about anything for shapes.  Naturally I chose flowers.  Because, well, I love them!

So which flowers??  I paged through my Paper Pumpkin stamps and came across this set from last year and it was perfect.  Pretty flowers plus coordinating leaves!  I stamped them on Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper with Early Espresso ink (embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder) and colored them with my Zig Clean Color Pens.  I used Lemon Yellow and Light Brown and love the fall feel they created together!  Using a Border Builders die (Lil’ Inker Designs) I cut the white panel and layered it with a retired DSP pattern from SU.  The sentiment is brand new from a set called Lovely from Essentials by Ellen (Ellen Hutson).  Given how much I love a flower stamp, this set of sentiments was simply a must have for me.  And it showed up super fast too!  WIN!!!  But I digress.  I stamped the background leaves and the sentiment in Early Espresso with clear embossing (to match the flowers).  After some debate, I stopped there.  I thought about some Wink of Stella for the flowers (still might go and add it on) but I was pretty happy with this just like it is.  You can totally tell I’m ready for some cool fall weather, can’t you?  I’m willing it to show up!!!

Card Sketch Aug 16-001Well, back to the stamp room to create some more.  Lots coming up in the next few weeks and I look forward to sharing with you.  I hope you’ll have as much fun with this week’s sketch as the Design Team did.  I don’t even have to ask them….I just saw what they made!!  I’ll be back tomorrow with a fun twist on a recent kit.  Until then, hope the day is great!  Thanks for stopping in!

FMS251 -I love FallAnother Wednesday and another fabulous challenge from Freshly Made Sketches!  This week, the lovely Cindy Hall has created a sketch that is an instant classic!  I love the traditional feel of it with all of the potential of layering.

I just had to ink up this new set from Concord and 9th called Give Thanks.  It has an awesome combination of leaves and sentiments.  Mostly this sentiment!!!   Because I do love Fall!!!!  Pretty basic stamping to create the back layer of the sketch and then some twine for the crossing layer.  I flipped the oval because it showed the leaves a bit better.  I can see I’m going to have lots of fun with this set!!

FMS Final 251-001Ok, short post because I’m off to work today.  I hope that you are having a great week and that you get some time to stamp.  Come over and join us for the sketch!  Thanks for stopping in!

FMS250 - Merry ChristmasI’m sure you have already been blown away by the amazing Cécile Ribon in her time as a Guest Designer at Freshly Made Sketches.  Well, this week she took on the task of being our sketch hostess.  And look at what she came up with!!  It really is fun!

I wanted to play a little more with O Christmas Tree from Concord and 9th as a continuing celebration of their first birthday.  The fonts from this set are so fabulous and the variety of images are super fun.  I took a panel of watercolor paper and inked it up with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in a variety of blues.  Then I splattered it with some water to see what would happen.  True confessions….this was actually my third panel….I messed up the embossing on the first two….yes, it was THAT stamping day.  The interesting finding in all this was the differences you get with varying brands of watercolor paper.  This paper is the Fabriano 140 lb Cold Press but I has also played with the Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Paper.  They have different textures (Tim Holtz has a smooth side and a rougher side) and the water spots move the ink in different ways.  It is like a fun experiment to play with them!!  I found that the Fabriano held onto the color just a little more and the texture really shows when you sponge on the colors.  I think the effect on this is pretty and I didn’t want to distract too much from it.  I added the snowflakes from the set by stamping in Versamark and heat embossing with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I pulled a snowflake wooden element from my stash (SU) and heat embossed it in white too.  The sentiment was stamped onto a Night of Navy panel the same way.  I added a few Sparkling Clear sequins which I love for how they morph depending on the background.

FMS Final 250-001I hope you have a great time playing with this sketch!  The angled panel allows for so many great options.  Make sure you stop by and say hi to Cécile too.  This is her first sketch and I think she did a great job!!  Trying to fit in some more stamping today.  Hope to have more to share soon.  See you then!

DTGT16jentimko - O Christmas TreeThe most wonderful week of inspiration continues today over at Splitcoaststampers!!!  It is Dare To Get Dirty Challenges week and you will not even believe all that SCS has already done!  As a former “Dirty Girl”, I get to participate on the planning side and today is the day for my challenge!!  How do you get to see all this fabulousness??  You simply have to be a Fan Club Member at Splitcoaststampers.  Not only can you see all the details of the challenges, you can participate with present and past Dirty Girls.  My sample makers have created the most awesome inspiration.  I hope you will come check it out!  You can see all the cards for my challenge HERE.

I can’t share the details of the challenge but I think you will not be too surprised by my choice of challenge!  As I was making cards, I was actually inspired to make two variations.  Gold and Silver!  They used the new set from Concord and 9th called O Christmas Tree.  I am totally in love with the sentiments and the great trees!  As an extra bonus, Concord and 9th is celebrating their first birthday so I wanted to join in on their party!  I heat embossed the trees on Thick Whisper White card stock (in gold and silver) to put as the base of my shaker cards. For the gold version, I used Pop of Pink DSP’s gold confetti pattern and cut it using the Stitched Rectangle Dies (SSS).  The silver version uses a retired DSP.  I added sequins based on the color of embossing.  The gold is from SU’s Metallic Sequins and a retired holiday pack while the silver are the Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins.  Now for that bit of sparkle on the sides.  Remember back during Sale-a-bration when the Glitter Tape was one of the choices?  Yeah.  I HAD to have that and I got it with the holidays in mind.  It is so easy to use and it adds so much!!  I heat embossed the sentiments again and done!  Now…..which is your favorite??!!  My house is split on their decision (which is why I posted both). The challenges this week really are amazing and your need to come check out the gallery!!  I hope you will go over and check out my challenge and join in!!  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you soon!

CTS #181 – Day Filled with Sunshine

CTS #181 – Day Filled with Sunshine published on 6 Comments on CTS #181 – Day Filled with Sunshine

CTS#181 - Day Filled with SunshineI have  fun card to share with you today!  I have been trying to play along with the 30-day Coloring Challenge again.  I miss some days but I like that I think about taking time (even just a few minutes) to color….just because.  It also pushes me to look for inspiration and find some fun challenges in which to play.  I was able to do just that for this card.  I started using the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge for the week as my sketch and also decided to join the Simon Wednesday Challenge.  The sketch is a wonderfully clean one that I hope I didn’t stretch too far.  The Simon challenge is to create a scene with a focus on Newton’s Nook stamps.

I used the adorable stamp set Newton’s Day Dream to create this little scene.  As usual for all cat things, my cat muse is my sweet little calico Kate.  I think in her perfect world she would nap with all these fun things flying about.  Or so she tells me when she tried to sneak outside and is caught.  *smile*  I colored using my Zig Clean Color Pens in the following colors:IMG_3591I really do love coloring with these pens so much!!  I cut the image panel out using my Wonky Stitches die to add a little more fun detail.  Just a quick post today.  I hope you have a lovely Saturday filled with sunshine.

FMS245 - Happy BirdsI am so happy to be able to share our adorable sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  This one is such fun and lends itself to so many things….DSP, colored panels, great focal images.  Should not come as a surprise that the incredible Jen Mitchell is this week’s sketch hostess!

I opted to focus on a fun stamp from WPlus9’s Happy Birds.  These birds still just crack me up!  I  colored him using my Zig Clean Color Markers (just two colored needed).  I chose zig-zag print from Pop of Pink DSP (SU) and cut it a using Border Builders die from Lil’ Inkers.  The focal panel was cut with a Stitched Rectangles die (SSS).  I chose a sentiment from Paper Pumpkin….I know….those seem to be my go-to lately but they really are so trendy and great!  I finally topped it with a few sequins.

FMS Final 245-001I hope you have a great time with this one.  Guessing the gallery will be just loaded with inspiration!!  I’ll be back tomorrow with a new card that has a Product Review for Splitcoaststampers.  It even included a video tutorial so I hope you’ll stop in!  See you soon!

One of a Kind

One of a Kind published on 2 Comments on One of a Kind

One of a KindI hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  I had some time to stamp during the week and wanted to share this fun little card with you.  I feel like sometimes I get so caught up in techniques and supplies and all the shiny things in stamping that I forget the basics of just stamps and ink.  So today, that is what I’m sharing with you.  A basic and fun card that I made just because it made me happy.

I got this little One of a Kind stamp set from Altenew awhile ago because I simply love the size and style of the flower.  Also, because I feel like this sentiment is timely and perfect for so many things.  After all, we are each one of a kind aren’t we?  It is good to celebrate that!!!  I inked up this little flower using the Colorbox 4-color ink box in the Fall palette.  The ink box is kind of unique in that it has four colors in one box that are meant to go together.  I inked the top of the flower in the purple and the bottom in the green from the box and stamped onto watercolor paper.  Then I pulled some ink with my Zig Brush2O and touched in a little more color.  The sentiment was stamped in the blue from the box.  I cut it out with a stitched rectangle and put it on a Night of Navy base.  Simple, clean and sweet.

I hope you will find some time today to create something because it makes you happy.  You deserve it!  Take care of you because you are unique, special and one of a kind!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #244

Freshly Made Sketches #244 published on 11 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #244

Jen Timko - FMS244 - Spring DaisiesHappy July to you!!  I hope that you have had a great start to the month.  You may have noticed I have been mostly absent over the last week or so.  Well, I was!  Because I was on vacation!  YAY!!!  My family and I went to the beach for a week and then added onto the vacation with a trip to downtown Washington DC for a baseball game and the big fireworks on the 4th.  The weather was a bit soggy but the game played on and the family had a great time.  Even the fireworks managed to go up despite the low ceilings.  But now I’m home and getting everything back in order.  So I’ll start by being the sketch hostess for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches.

I continued to play with my new Colorbox inks, this time in the Spring color palette.  I thought it would be fun to pull out the little Daisy stamp from Altenew and do a bit of masking to create this little trio of flowers.  Pretty, aren’t they?!  The layering of the colors comes from just stamping off the inks in various degrees to create the shades.  Super simple way to make sure your colors coordinate perfectly!  Speaking of coordinating….aren’t these sequins an awesome match?!    I picked out two from Pretty Pink Posh and one from an old Paper Pumpkin.  The sentiment is from the Skipping Stones Design set Healing Wings.  I cut the stamped layer using my retired Ovals Dies (SU) and then attached it to a White Notecard from SU.

FMS Final 244-001I hope that you enjoy this sketch!  The team must have because their samples this week are incredible!!  I look forward to seeing you in the gallery too!  Now….back to laundry….  And maybe just a bit of stamping too, I hope.  Until next time, I hope you have a great day!
