CTS#149 - Amazing Mon Ami

I got some time to sit down and stamp last week and I saw the fabulous sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch…I knew I had to play along.  But what to make?!  I also saw that Michele from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps is hosting a Calling All Sistahs Blog Hop for a very special release.  In honor of Michele and her amazing cause, I thought I should make a card with one of her sets.  Please read her story and the background on this hop HERE.  I am in awe that she has taken this news and turned it into a way to help others.  I have no doubt that her mission to get us all to check “the sistahs” will help someone else have early detection!

I used the Mon Ami stamp set…such a beautiful image collection!  I stamped the flower 3 times with Versamark ink and then heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I colored the back of the flowers using Zig Clean Color Pens.  It is only one color that I used to create this ombre look.  Then I cut them out with the matching Mon Ami dies.  I stamped the sentiment with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink using my Misti to make sure I got perfect coverage.  The Stitched Rectangles made another appearance to add a little interest.  Finally, I added Silver Thread (SU) and silver sequins.

CTS_149Michele has a product launch today and she will be sharing some of the proceeds with very good causes.  You can read all about it from her and her talented team.  So go hop with them, get inspired and make sure you take care of your self check!

I got called out on a trip so I will not have a card for tomorrow’s Freshly Made Sketches.  With any luck, I will have time on Thursday to catch up and join in.  It is a really fabulous sketch!!  I’ll definitely be back on Friday with a new Fancy Friday blog hop and we have some fun new things to share with you!!  Until then, have a great week!

Stamps:  Mon Ami (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps); Ink: Versamark, Tim Holtz Distress Inks Picked Raspberry, Zig Clean Color Pens; Paper:  Thick Whisper White (SU), White Vellum (SU); Accessories:  Heat Tool, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Sequins, Big Shot, Stitched Rectangles Dies (SSS), Zig Watercolor Pen, Silver Thread (SU)

Watercolor Drummer

I told you a few post ago when I was coloring this adorable little drummer boy that my oldest son was a bit put out that I had made the drummer blonde like his brother.  So the other day I had some time to color while he was home.  He colored one version of himself and I colored another.  This is the one I ended up with!  I used my new Tim Holtz Distress Inks to create the background and my Zig Clean Color Markers for the images.  Super fun and pretty quick too!  I cut the image sheet with my Stitched Rectangles from Simon Says Stamps (I’m addicted to these dies) and then embossed the base (Night of Navy) with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  My oldest gave it his thumbs up of approval!!

Quick post…still recovering from the 3 days of simulator madness.  Fortunately it all went well and I’m good to go for another 9 months.  Back next week with some more fun.  Until then, thanks for stopping in!

Stamp:  Drummer Boy (WPlus9); Ink:  Black WPlus9 Pure Color Dye Ink, Versafine Onyx Black, Zig Clean Color Markers, Tim Holtz Distress Ink; Paper: Fabriano Watercolor, Night of Navy; Accessories: Big Shot, Drummer Boy Dies(WPlus9), Stitched Rectangles (SSS), Zig Water Pen, Dimensionals, Softly Falling Embossing Folder (SU)

As promised, I have a fun card to share with you today plus a video.  We have this super sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches from the queen of layers, Narelle.  She makes layering look effortless and always elegant!  As for me….it wasn’t working.  So I took a step back and simply layered the images instead.  I hope she doesn’t mind too much.  Here is the how to on my card:

I’m still in Denver taking my check ride (3 days of fun in the simulator) but I did get to have coffee with the amazing Kim Singdahlsen from the team.  I tell you what, it made facing all those engine out approaches much more tolerable!!  *smile*

Ok….back to studying.  I hope you enjoy the video and this fun sketch.  Go check out all the inspiration from the team, of course, too!  See you again Friday with another fun card!

Santa

Happy Friday to you!  I hope your week has been great!  We have been unseasonably warm but I’m still plugging away at my Christmas cards.  I pulled out this amazing set called Santa from Lili of the Valley.  It has wonderful detail, doesn’t it?!  I used my Zig Clean Color Markers to color him.  I love that my 48 pack of pens gives me enough to get all the shading and colors that I could possible need.  The image was stamped with Black WPlus9 Pure Color Dye Ink and the sentiment was stamped after I colored everything in Black Versafine Ink.  The WPlus9 ink really holds up to the watercoloring and the Versafine is great for sentiments.  This sentiment comes from A Gift from Santa (SU).  I cut the image panel and a Real Red panel using the Simon Says Stamps Stitched Rectangles Dies.  I tied a double layer of Basic Black Baker’s Twine onto a Basic Black card base.

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I did coloring it.  I actually colored the panel last week and was happy to finally turn it into a finished card.

Over the next few days I will be taking a check ride with United so I’ll be off from the blog.  Lots of studying and fun with emergency training in the simulator.  But I already have a card ready for next Wednesday’s Freshly Made Sketches complete with a video.  Until then, I hope you have  wonderful weekend!  Thanks for stopping in.

FMS211- Drummer Boy

Wow, where did the week go??!!  Back to Wednesday and another new challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.  This week, our sketch hostess is the incredible Karren Johnson and I love what she gave us to work with this week!

I pulled out my Drummer Boy set from WPlus9 again and played with a different set of colors.  I tried to pare down the colors into gray and red to help keep this clean.  I used my Copic Markers to color the drummer boy and his little friend.  I was going to grab a sheep again but my oldest told me that the poor donkey needed some love.  Kind of cracked me up and who was I to argue?!  I used the coordinating dies to cut the boy and his friend.  Then I used my 2-1/2″ Circle Punch to pop out the partial circle from Thick Whisper White card stock.  I added Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper behind it (wish you could see it in person….so much prettier!).  I added some Silver Thread and used a sentiment from the same stamp set to finish the sketch.

I think that you will have such fun with this sketch!  So many ways to go with it!!  The team certainly used it creatively and I know you’ll be in awe, as always.

Back on Friday with a fun card using some coloring I did last week.  Until then, thanks for stopping in!!

Fancy Friday – Treats, not Tricks

Fancy Friday – Treats, not Tricks published on 2 Comments on Fancy Friday – Treats, not Tricks

It is time again for our monthly Fancy Friday hop!  If you just came over from the amazing Jeanna, welcome to the next stop.  My friends and I want to be able to share with you our ideas in a monthly format.  We will use different themes each month – sometimes colors, sometimes a sketch, sometimes a stamp set focus.  The one thing you can count on is that it will be fancy!  Over our year together on the ADT,  “fancy” became our word to describe the best projects, the best new clothes, even the best pedicure colors.  Now we want to share with you our take on “fancy” each month.  This month we have a theme challenge that the whole team will be using as inspiration – Tricks, not Treats!  Perfect for your last minute Halloween crafting or as inspiration for other fall fun!

FF Oct - You're so sweet

I decided to go for a treat bag that I can use anytime over the next month or so.  I used my September Paper Pumpkin kit to create those darling little broom bags for teachers yesterday (yep, the hard work is all done for you!!!) so I still had this stamp set sitting on my table.  I know I have said it a lot but the Paper Pumpkin stamps are a gift that keep giving.  I used one for my card on Wednesday and now again for this.  I started with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit Dies and cut this bag out using the Typeset DSP.  That die allows you to create whatever kind of bag you want out of whatever paper you want.  AWESOME!!  I used the little banner die in the set to cut this one out of Very Vanilla.  Then I pulled out the leaves and sentiment from the Paper Pumpkin stamp set.  I stamped them in Versamark and heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I used the banner die to flag the ends of the Gold Foil piece to tuck underneath.  I had one piece of raffia left from the kit (an extra…they multiplied…???) so I wrapped it and some Gold Thread around and tucked them under the tag.  I attached them using Glue Dots and then added another slightly shortened banner to make a sandwich to secure everything.  Clip the tag on with a Clothespin and done.  All that remains is to fill the bag.

Here is a bit of a closeup so you can click in and see the details more.  I just have to say that these Paper Pumpkin kits are a fantastic value.  Many times, the sets have sentiments that are really modern and feel very on trend.  The ink spots are super to have on hand (especially when I am using my Misti…much easier to ink with them!).  And of course, the projects.  The Concept Artists who work on these really out-do themselves each month.  If you really love a project, you can buy extras once you are a subscriber.  I never thought that I “needed” kits because my craft room is so fully, um, stocked.  But these kits fill a niche for me that makes me continue to invest.  My kids LOVE the projects and help me make them most of the time.  Because everything is prepared, we get right to creating.  Perfect for the attention span of my boys.

Ok, ok….I’ll quit waxing poetic about the kits, haha!  Time for you to get on with the hop!!

I hope you will be inspired by all the lovely creations in our hop this month.  I know you will find each stop a real treat!

The amazing Mercedes Weber is up next!   Wait until you see the fancy project she created!

I got some extra time to stamp yesterday and thought it would be fun to join in at CAS(E) this Sketch.  I love the angle of the sentiment in the sketch and was looking through my stamps to see what would work well.  I got this awesome set called Twenty Fifteen as a bonus when I made an order from WPlus9.  The sentiments are so fun and I just love the triangles.  I layered and stamped the triangles using Blackberry Bliss and Daffodil Delight ink and then stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow.  By happy accident, I found out that White Perfect Accents from SU can become clear by removing the backing….I love them as clear for this so that is what I did.  The panels were cut using the Stitched Rectangles Dies from Simon Says Stamps.

So guess what we have for you today at Freshly Made Sketches!!  Just look at this awesome sketch.  So cool and creative….just like Cindy Lovell who designed this one for us!  The fun trio plus the vertical sentiment makes for fun options.

I used the stamp set from the latest Paper Pumpkin (October) called Blissful Bouquet.  The images and sentiments are fabulous!  I colored these with Zig Clean Color Markers to create these fall flowers.  I made a video to show you how easy it is to color these flowers.

Drummer Boy

You know sometimes you see a stamp set that really speaks to you, that is how I felt when I saw this adorable little set from WPlus9 called Drummer Boy.  My boys, particularly my youngest, love the song Little Drummer Boy.  We tend to play it over and over and I don’t get tired of hearing them sing along.  Needless to say, I had to order this right away and my first drummer boy is created in the image of my youngest.  Don’t think for a minute that the oldest isn’t put out and asking for his version.  I’m working on it for sure.  I stamped the images onto SU Thick Whisper White paper using Momento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Using my Copics, I colored the images.  Then I simply cut them out using the companion dies to the stamp.  I cut the the layers using the Stitched Rectangle die (SSS) and Border Builders die (Li’l Inkers).

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it.  Just a fun bonus, here is the card my little one made using the set.  He colored with my markers and added the images to a card base I had left from a card kit last year.  Yeah….I may have used his card for inspiration.  He said it was ok. *smile*  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you tomorrow for the latest from Freshly Made Sketches

Misti - Snowflakes

Today I’m continuing with my last card for the Product Review of the Misti at Splitcoaststampers.  I wanted to demonstrate how this stamp positioner is different than any other tool out there.  Take  look!

A direct link to the video is HERE.

Most of the how-to details are in the video so I’ll let you watch how I made it there.  I did make a mistake in the name of the stamp set in the video (because I actually had the mentioned stamp on my table too).  It is Festive Flurry, also retired.

Want to learn more about the new configuration for the Misti?  Hop right over to the Product Focus page and you can see all the reviews and projects from the whole Product Review Team!

I hope that you have enjoyed these Misti projects!  I will be back next week with some new projects I’ve been working on.  Until then, thanks so much for stopping in!
