Misti - SantaGuess what?!!  It is time for another product review over at  Splitcoaststampers and I could not be more excited to share today!  What are we reviewing???  Misti – or the Most Incredible Stamp Tool Invented!  Um…Jen….the Misti has been around for a while so what are you talking about?  Let me show you!!!!  Check out this video!

A direct link to the video is HERE.

Ok, back to my card today.  I pulled out this adorable set, Santa’s Gifts, and I just love it.  Love the Santa and all the little images that go with him.  Using my Misti to stamp with this set makes it even better.  I simply cut a mask for Santa and lined up the present image on my Misti.  Once I was sure it was right, I ink it up and stamped.  No chance for my hand to slip and perfect placement every time.  Once I had everything stamped, I used my Zig Clean Color markers to color the scene.

Want to learn more about the new configuration for the Misti?  Hop right over to the Product Focus page and you can see all the reviews and projects from the whole Product Review Team!

Also make sure you take advantage of the Splitcoaststampers special savings code!  You’ll find it on the Product Focus page linked above!!  The code is only good through today (Oct. 22nd), so shop fast!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another project complete with a tutorial using the Misti!!  Until then, have a great day!

FMS209 - Joy

The dear Jen Brum has come up with a clean and really awesome sketch for this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  I love all the possibilities it provides for die cuts or stamped images.

I went all in on the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set for this card.  I love when you can stick to only one set and this set really is fabulous.  I know it is mostly a sentiment set but the combinations of sentiments give so many options!  And then there is the snowflake.  Love this snowflake!  I stamped the image onto Tip Top Taupe card stock using Versamark ink, added White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed.  Then I cut it with my 2-1/2″ Circle Punch.  On another layer of Taupe, I stamped the sentiment the same way and embossed.  I centered the circle just laying it on the Joy layer and placed my circle template on top of it.  Once that was in the right spot, I used my Piercing Tool to add the circle detailing.  I popped the snowflake on Dimensionals and added Basic Pearls.  I love the color scheme on this.  A little more toned down but clean and elegant.

I have to confess that I want to keep playing with this sketch and you might see some more from me over the next few weeks using it.  Thanks, Jen!! I suspect you will feel the way and I hope to see your creations in the gallery!

I will be back tomorrow with a really fun card and a video.  Hint:  Another product review for Splitcoaststampers!!!  See you then!

O, Come All Ye Faithful…

Jen Timko - O Come All Ye Faithful

The beautiful images in All Ye Faithful have just been calling out to be colored.  If you follow me on Instagram, you have already seen the wise men but I kept playing around with this to see what would happen.  I got my Zig Clean Color Markers a couple of weeks ago and have been working to improve my coloring skills.  Images like these are so fun and allow room to play.  Watercolors in particular are pretty forgiving since you can “erase” many mistakes with a little water!  The coloring uses many (many) of the colors from the 48 pack of the Zigs and I just played with things until they seemed right.  I added a little big of Night of Navy ink to the background then spritzed with water to get the effect you see.  The navy was added over some other colors from the Zigs.  I pulled out the Misti again for this one since I wanted to be able to repeat the alignment of the stamps easily.  Once you have them right, the Misti allows you to create multiples!  Love that!

I hope you find some inspiration to head to your craft room and try some coloring!  I’ll be back tomorrow with another sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Until then, thanks for stopping in!

Stamp Review Crew – For All Things

SRC-For-All-Things-bannerI am so excited to be a part of this amazing group of Stampin’ Up demonstrators!  If you haven’t heard of “The Crew” yet, you are going to be so thrilled with this.  We are here to show you the versatility of one stamp set every time we hop (the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month).  We have a whole team of people and different stampers participate each time.  Like you, we look to find ways to maximize our investments and the single focus on one set allows you to see all the possibilities!  This week, our featured stamp is For All Things.  I have loved this set from the moment I got it…so pretty and so versatile!

If you just came over from Dawn Tidd, I’m so glad you are here!  If you want to see everyone who is hopping or if you get lost along the way, just click over to The Stamp Review Crew blog.

SRC - Leaves and Thanks

I thought playing with these awesome leaves would be perfect for today since we are having such pretty fall weather.  I played with a new (to me) technique using my Misti (a cool stamp positioner that allows for over stamping multiple times).  I sponged on Hello Honey ink and added a little bit of Cajun Craze then stamped the middle leaf.  Without moving the paper, I sponged on some Early Espresso ink and stamped back down again.  What a great effect!  I masked the middle leaf and did the same for the top and bottom leaves. You’ll notice the texture on the white card stock.  This piece was a leftover from last year’s Christmas card kit but you could easily get exactly the same look using Whisper White and the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  I love how you see the texture in the stamping!!  Finally, I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso.  Again, the Misti is really helpful since I needed to stamp a few times to get the right depth of color on the embossed panel.  I added some twine I had from a Paper Pumpkin kit and popped the panel on Dimensionals and put it onto an Early Espresso card base.

Hope you like this fall inspiration!  I’m the end of the hop but you can keep going in the loop by jumping right over to see Sue Plote.  I can promise you’ll be inspired!  So glad you dropped in today.  See you again soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #208 published on 9 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #208

Has it been fall-like where you are??!!  In Virginia, the last few days have been really amazing.  Cool morning, comfortable afternoons…perfect weather!  My family and I got to go out to one of our state parks on Sunday and enjoy the leaves starting to turn and the amazing day.  So nice!  And….I got to do a little stamping too.  Just a little but I’ll take it!

Our own sweet, kind and fabulous Cindy Hall is our sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches and she has brought a really cool challenge this week.  The team has some really varied interpretations which always guarantees that the gallery is going to be amazing.

FMS208 - Deck the Halls

I am a hoarder of many Christmas things for stamping….because I love them so much!  I decided I had better pull them out this week.  And that I should also get bonus points for resisting using another snowflake.  Because I almost did!  Instead, I opted for this cute little present.  But you can totally use a snowflake!  *smile*  The sentiment is from Christmas Messages (2013 Holiday) and the present is from Color Me Christmas (2013 Holiday).  I added these to a base of retired DSP and added some Baker’s Twine that I double tied using the inspiration of Kimberly Van Diepen.  Cute, fun, easy to make a bunch of!   The present was colored using Zig Clean Color Markers.

FMS Final 208-001I hope you have a great time joining in this week.  We always have such a great time looking through the creations each week!  I have a bunch of new stuff to share in the upcoming week and I can’t even wait!  The fun starts on Monday with the Stamp Review Crew!  Until then, have a wonderful week!  Thanks for stopping in!

FMS207 - Glimmer Joy

Another Wednesday and another fabulous sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our sketch hostess this week is the extraordinary Kim Singdahlsen.  She created this sketch as a way to showcase designer papers but, per usual, I broke the rules.  Just goes to show how really flexible this sketch can be!!

Now where would my week be without using another of these snowflakes?!  I have already admitted my obsession with them so….  Today some silver.  And glitter!  For the base of the image panel, I chose the gorgeous Silver Glimmer paper and then topped it with Thick Whisper White panels that were embossed with the Softly Falling Folder.  I cut the ‘Joy’ from the same paper and then 3 more times from Thick Whisper White.  This one is from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.  Layering those makes the sentiment pop up but still keeps it easy to adhere to the card.  The big snowflake from Snowflake Elements was heat embossed using Versamark Ink and Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I added an Iced Rhinestone to the center.  Aren’t they perfect together??  And that is it.  All the work is done by the shimmer and shine!

*Hint*

For the blocked panels.  Don’t make the math hard.  Really.  Don’t!  I don’t know the measurements.  Here is what I did.  I cut the white panel 1/16″ narrower that I would have and normal on the length (I usually use 1/8″ spacing for layers like this).  That little bit extra is what give you the space between.  Next I cut the long panel off the side.  With the remaining (slightly wider panel), I cut it in two with a 1/3 to 2/3 proportion….ish.  I didn’t measure, I just eyeballed it.  Then from the larger of those, I cut an addition 1/16″ off to make room for that little space between them.  Once they were all cut, I laid them on the embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot.  I found if you try to emboss first and then cut, the paper cutter does not give you super clean edges on those narrow cuts.  To adhere the panels, I used Fast Fuse.  Glue dots work well with the Glimmer Paper too.

I hope you enjoy this card today.  Have fun with the sketch and make sure you check out what the team has for inspiration!  I’ll be back soon with another of the cards I made for my class last weekend.  Until then, have a great day!  Thanks for stopping in!

Peace & Joy

I am so excited to share with you today.  I got to stamp with some friends over the weekend and it was so much fun.  I even had a new stamper join in.  Four cards, Jen style, and she totally kept up with us!!  This was our technique card of the class and we had more fun with it.  This background is so spectacular and yet SOOO easy.  Really!  Trust me.  Ok….I thought you might not believe me so I made a video.

If it doesn’t show correctly in your email, click here:  Peace & Joy Tutorial

I saw this cool technique last week as shown by the oh so talented Jennifer McGuire.  She used a different medium and I wanted to see what happened when I tried reinkers.  Wow is what happens!  Beyond the background I love how the Sleigh Ride Edgelits can be used to create a pretty scene within the PL Cards & Labels Framelits.  This may be one of my favorite cards so far this season.  Hope you love it too!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a new card for Freshly Made Sketches.  Until then, have a great day!

HYCCT – Because I Care

HYCCT – Because I Care published on No Comments on HYCCT – Because I Care

HYCCT1501C - Because I CareI told you yesterday about the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges at Splitcoaststampers.  I got to play along yesterday with the challenge from Lori Craig, HYCCT1501C- Split the Difference.  The challenge is to split the image panel with a sentiment.  I’m not sure I completely followed the intent of her challenge but since these cards are for a cause, I’m sure she will give me a little latitude.  *smile*

I colored this beautiful flower from Blended Bloom with my new Zig Clean Color Markers.  I just got them on Friday and I’m already completely obsessed with them.  I’ll have some more about them in the upcoming weeks.  I embossed the flower in gold and then just colored with the two colors.  I added a sentiment from Because I Care (retired) and embossed it in gold too.  A few gold sequins to add a little more detail.

You can play along with these challenges too.  There are fun inspirational themes every day brought by some of my favorite stampers!  All the details on how to mail your cards to MD Anderson Cancer Center can be found there too.  This is one of the best things you can do with your talents so I encourage you to join in where you can!

Grateful for You

Grateful for You published on No Comments on Grateful for You

Jen Timko - Grateful Note CardIn Thursday’s post, I told about some of the things that Splitcoaststampers brings to the crafting world.  One of the things I forgot to mention is the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges.  Throughout the whole month of October, there are daily challenges to help inspire you to create cards for the MD Anderson Cancer Center and to bring hope to those families who are facing cancer. While my post today is not a part of that, I would be remiss not to mention it.  I hope to participate often this year and to share those cards with you.

For today, though, I have two more projects from my product review for Scor-Dies.  The first is this simple yet fabulous note card.  The PocketPenPals Basics C comprises this note card and the coordinating envelope.  Simple and fast for anyone to add to a gift bag!  I created this in such a short time that I went back and made two more for some friends who had helped me with my boys.  I inked up the leaves from For All Things in Tip Top Taupe and then spritzed the stamp with some water.  I cut the card out of Watercolor Paper so when I stamped I got this lovely watercolor effect.  I did the same for the sentiment and then added on a single gold sequin with the new Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  I stamped the same image onto the envelope and tied it up with Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine.  And done!  Cute, huh?

ScorDies - Flowers for you

For the next note card, I used the pretty little flower topped die from the Basics A set and added it to a Night of Navy base.  I cut the white panel from Thick Whisper White and colored the top pieces with my Aquapainter using Rose Red and Pear Pizzazz ink.  I tied on some Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine and added a sentiment from Paper Pumpkin.  I thought the flowers from the hostess set Floral Wings matched the little flower well so I stamped them onto the envelope in the same colors.  I made the envelope using my Envelope Punch Board.

If you want to see my whole review you can go right over to the Product Focus page.  Oh, and you’ll get to see more projects too, of course!

ScorDies - Golden Hello

From time to time, I feel like I need to make sure you, my awesome readers, know about all that Splitcoaststampers brings to the crafting world.  Challenges – check, tutorials – check, forums full of info – check and product reviews – check, check!  A while ago I shared that I was asked to join the Product Review Team and I had the opportunity to get to play with another new product recently!   On my Project Life page that I showed you in Monday’s post, I shared that I used the PocketPenPals Scor-Dies to add interest to my page.  Well, now I get to share some more of the things I created for the review!!

For today’s card I combined a number of brands that all just seemed to work perfectly together.  I started with the card base from my August Paper Pumpkin and then cut this adorable tag from the PocketPenPals Basics Package B.  I actually cut it twice, once with Very Vanilla and once with Basic Black.  I layered them to allow the black to just sneak out from the bottom.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the same Paper Pumpkin using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.  I used the black ribbon from the kit and wrapped it around the top of the tag and added on some Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine.  For a final wow, I cut this flower from Gold Foil and added a Basic Black center.  This tag is so unique and cool!  Ok, I totally didn’t use it as intended but who cares when it has such versatility!!

Want to see the whole story on these dies?  And a video?  And my whole product review?  And the reviews from some seriously amazing stampers???  Yeah, I thought so!!  Hop right over to the Product Focus page and you can see ALL of that!!  Oh, and you’ll get to see more projects too, of course!
