You're Out of This World by Jen Timko | Cosmic Newton Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Shattered Glass Foil by Therm-o-web, Deco Foil Transfer Gel by Therm-o-webSomething about sparkling foil made me know that I should pull out my Cosmic Newton stamp and Starfield Stencil and I’m so glad I did.  I will say that the Therm O Web Deco Foil is a new to me product and I love how easy it is to use.  The Transfer Gel works just like embossing paste and then you simply foil over it.  For Newton, I stamped in Momento ink first and colored with Copics, then stamped again with Versamark (the Misti is a life-saver here!!) and embossed with silver embossing powder. So easy and no worries about messing up your Copic tips with the embossing.  I created a short video to show you the whole process!

I have a direct link here if you would prefer:  Foiling with Thermoweb and Newton’s Nook Designs

Truly Grateful

Truly Grateful by Jen Timko | Shades of Autumn Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Lovely Blooms Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide InkToday is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog.  Even though it is the beginning of March, we are starting to see signs of spring here in Virginia.  My daffodils seem almost ready to bloom, if you can believe it.  I went a little non-standard and actually started with a set introduced in the fall…Shades of Autumn.  But I gave it a spring twist courtesy of the color palette and some flower dies from Lovely Blooms.

I pulled out my Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint and created some backgrounds that I could cut with my dies.  The green I cut with the Shades of Autumn Dies and Lovely Blooms Dies (the leaves).  Then I cut out some blossoms with the Lovely Blooms flowers.  I love the variations from the Oxide inks and how they make these dies take on such depth.  On some more watercolor paper, I created a background with Broken China Oxide ink and then stamped the sentiment from Shades of Autumn in the middle.  I found some pink card stock to coordinate with the flowers and that completes the spring feel, don’t you think?  We may yet have a touch of winter coming but at least I can celebrate flowers and greenery in my stamp room!

I hope you like this fun way to use dies!  Make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs blog for daily inspiration.  Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll see you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #326

FMS326 by Jen Timko | Dahlia XL by Power Poppy, Zig Clean Color PensHappy middle of the week to you!  I am the sketch hostess today over at Freshly Made Sketches and I hope I created a sketch that will be fun for everyone.

With that big panel, I thought it was the perfect time to pull out a big stamp.  Dahlia XL from Power Poppy to be exact.  I stamped the flower in Versafine Black and colored with my Zig markers.  I don’t think I made an actual color combination for a dahlia, but hey…artistic interpretation!  *smile*  I just wanted to make a bright and happy card and I think this does the job.  The sentiment is from the set too and works perfectly for the little panel on the sketch.  For the yellow strip, I used some washi tape and put it on a piece of white paper.  You get all the effect of the washi but it looks a bit more tailored.

I hope you enjoy the sketch and will consider joining us!  The design team has done amazing things with my sketch…I’m always in awe of the different looks all from the same sketch.  I’ll be back on Friday with a fun post for Newton’s Nook.  Until then, have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #325

Freshly Made Sketches #325 published on 11 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #325

FMS325 by Jen Timko | Paper Pumpkin by Stampin' UpA really quick post for you today to share a really quick card.  Today is Freshly Made Sketches day and our lovely queen of color, Amy O’Neill, has given us a fabulous sketch!  I have had a heavy flying schedule over the last couple of weeks but just ‘had’ to play along.  So I kept it quick.

How to do that??  Start with a kit!  In this case, I used a Paper Pumpkin (by Stampin’ Up) kit.  I had already been working on putting the kit together and I tend to made small modifications to the designs.   Usually by removing elements or layers…because, well, that is how I fly.

I am ashamed to say that this kit was one I have had since July.  Which is crazy because I loved it when I first got it and still do.  I just made some modifications by flipping the base, stamping with the cute border stamp and adding some sequins (not from the kit).  It doesn’t take much to tweak the kits to personalize them to your style and taste!

The DT at FMS has so many great variations on the sketch…always the sign of a great one!  Make sure you hop over to see the inspiration.  I so appreciate you stopping by to visit.  Until next time, have a great week.

Stamps, Paper, Ink:  Paper Pumpkin (Positively Picturesque – July 2017);  Sequins, Washi Tape (Paper Pumpkin kit), Misti

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Woof Pack

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Woof Pack published on 27 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Woof Pack

Well, it is the last day of the February Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  It has been a great week and I’m super excited to share our final set, Woof Pack.

You had to know that Newton’s Nook would not leave out all you dog people out there.  After yesterday’s Company of Cats it is so awesome to have a companion set for dogs.  I thought it would be fun to make a few little “windows” for the dogs.  I stamped the big background a couple of times and then chose a few of the sweet faces to highlight (other than the German Shepard, I chose pretty randomly….no slights intended, lol…I have a soft spot for Shepards after having one for 12 years).  I colored using my Zig Clean Color Markers and then added some frames that were cut with stitched circle dies.  The Pawprints stencil was a wonderful “go with” product for the dogs and I added that with embossing paste on Fog Gray card stock.

I thought you might like to see a list of all the breeds that are in the stamp image.  Jennifer Jackson was kind enough to provide this and it was super helpful in my coloring.

Left to Right:
Top row: Bulldog, Chihuahua, Boxer, Jack Russell Terrier
Second row: Poodle, Dachshund, Beagle, Basset Hound
Third row: Cocker Spaniel, Yorkshire Terrier, Boston Terrier
Corgi squeezed in between the rows
Bottom row: German Shepherd, Saint Bernard, Pug, Labrador Retriever

This week has been wonderful and I’m always so humbled by the kind comments left for me.  Thank you all for your encouragement and kindness.  And now, one more chance to win!

Freshly Made Sketches #324

Freshly Made Sketches #324 published on 10 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #324

FMS324 by Jen Timko | Hearts and Flowers Stamps and Dies by Gina K Designs, Watercolor, Lawn Fawn Note CardsThis is my first post of the day.  If you are looking for my NND release week posts just scroll up and down.  We have a super sketch for you this week from Freshly Made Sketches and I love the opportunities in this one.  No surprise that our sketch hostess, the amazing Narelle, has given us perfect layers to use.

I colored this sweet little bouquet of flowers using my Winsor and Newton paints.  Such a fun image from Gina K.  I love that there is a matching die set and the flowers seemed just right for the sketch.  I added a sentiment from the same set and found a little green piece of card stock to match the greens.  The base of the card is a note card from Lawn Fawn.  I love the size!  A little smaller so that the elements haning off the edge are ok since it will still fit in a standard envelope.

The inspiration from the team is awesome today!  Hope you will be able to join us!  Don’t forget to check out my Newton’s Nook Designs previews this week too.  You have a chance to win the sets just by commenting!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Company of Cats

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Company of Cats published on 30 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Company of Cats

Happy day 3 of the February Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  I have such a treat for you today.  A new stamp set called Company of Cats that you are sure to adore! (If you are looking for my Freshly Made Sketches post for today, just scroll down a bit)

Cats Are Like Potato Chips by Jen Timko | Company of Cats Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Copic ColoringI have to admit that I actually did laugh out loud when I read this sentiment for my card.  So many cat people already know how true this is!!  I could not help but think that it would be fun to create a card starting with just one kitty and then revealing the rest.  So a pop-up card was born.  I masked, stamped and colored this cutie with Copics and then added the yellow with Distress Ink.

Cats Are Like Potato Chips - Open by Jen Timko | Company of Cats Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Copic ColoringI stamped the whole image again and then colored kitties of every kind.  I fussy cut them out and made a pop up feature.  And then I added the rest of the sentiment.  Isn’t it just perfect??!!!  I love it!

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Bitty Bunnies

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Bitty Bunnies published on 22 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Bitty Bunnies

Welcome back for day 2 of the February Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  Today I have a little cuteness overload for you.  I mean really, who can resist Bitty Bunnies?!

Ear-resistable by Jen Timko | Bitty Bunnies Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Frames and Flags Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Basket Weave Embossing Folder by Stampin' UpI really wanted to put the focus on this sweet little bunny but still have some neutral details to add to the card.  I started by coloring the bunny with my Copics and knew he would be super cute against this notecard (from SU’s Sale-a-bration).  I liked how the envelope had the light brown with speckles so I colored the bunny to coordinate, including the speckles.  I used a new embossing folder with the basket weave which is a nod to an Easter basket but I like that this doesn’t have to be an Easter card.  The Flags and Frames Dies were used for the stitched details and for the banner.  The bunnies, butterflies and flowers in this set all work to give you lovely little scene choices and you are sure to love coloring them.

Make sure you hop over to see all the bunny cards from our amazing DT at NND!  Such inspiration!  Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Newton’s Easter Basket

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Newton’s Easter Basket published on 28 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Newton’s Easter Basket

Welcome to day 1 of the February Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  This month’s reveals are going to wow you, as usual.  Such variety and fun!  Today we have an adorable set called Newton’s Easter Basket (with coordinating dies) along with a new stencil called Cloudy Sky.

Egg-stra Special Day by Jen Timko | Newton's Easter Basket Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Cloudy Sky Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs, Watercolor, Tim Holtz Distress InkI love that we get to start off with our favorite kitty this month!  I chose the image with all the eggs but you are going to love the Newton “bunny” and Newton in the egg too.  Such fun!  I started by using the new Cloudy Sky stencil with Versamark ink and clear embossing powder.  I just applied the ink straight from the pad.  A little less precise but that was the look I was going for….just like real clouds!  The embossed areas resist the watercoloring.  I used Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers for the sky.  I created the grass using Mowed Lawn and cut the edge with the Land Borders Dies.  Then the real fun started!  I stamped Newton, a few extra eggs and an extra bird.  Using more Distress Inks I chose bright and happy colors and got to coloring.  The coordinating dies make cutting out the elements easy.  I added two extra eggs for dimension and the little bird seemed perfect on Newton’s tail.  I pulled out my white gel pen to add a little more detail to finish.

Isn’t this a great day 1?  Yep, I knew you would think so.  Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!
