I’m so happy to share this fun Christmas card with you today! I know it is hard for me to really think about holiday stuff right now but let’s face it, if I don’t start with the cards now, I’ll never get them done. I loved Amy’s adorable sketch this week from Freshly Made Sketches. Her little trio allows for so many options!
I chose this cute little snowman from Let It Snow by Honey Bee Stamps. I love this stamp set and all its fabulous sentiments. I stamped the snowman and flakes with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I added the line on the bottom of the snowman for coloring purposes using a Copic Multiliner. Some quick coloring with my Copics was all he needed. I cut him and his flakes out using the coordinating Let It Snow Dies and then stamped the sentiment from the same set onto white card stock. I used some striped paper from my stash to finish the sketch. I love this one!
I’ll be back on Friday with a post for Picket Fence Studios. Until then, I’m out flying around so look for me if you are traveling! The summer flying has been a bit crazy with all the weather. If you are out and about…pack your patience (and chocolate for the flight attendants never hurts!). Until next time, have a great week.
Happy Wednesday to you! I hope your week is wonderful so far! I had pretty much a perfect 4th of July last week. We went to the Washington Nationals baseball game. They lost but the game was still fun. Then we went down to the National Mall. To cool off, we visited the Museum of Natural History…one of my favorites (but glad I don’t have to choose one). Then, the big fireworks event! And what fireworks they were! After recovering for a day, we drove for a quick weekend to visit family in Cleveland. The boys and I have enjoyed the last couple of summer days by going to the pool and getting ice cream at a local gem called the Moo Thru. So, you can see that I have summer on the brain.
Perfect for this amazing sketch by Jen Mitchell over at Freshly Made Sketches. Jen’s clean style always has special touches and this sketch reflects that wonderfully. For the rectangle part of the sketch, I obsessed over the idea of this bike. I love this bike and it seems to say summer to me. This comes from a set call Beautiful Ride by Simon Says Stamp and has lots of fun accessories that go with the bike. I chose a little bag to fill with flowers. I stamped them all in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers. The sentiment is from the same set….love it! I added a few Sparkling Clear sequins and put the image layer on a Real Red base.
I hope you are enjoying your week. I’m back to work today. Maybe I’ll see some of you around the country. Don’t forget to peek in if you are on a United Airbus! Thanks for stopping in today. See you again soon.

Welcome to day 1 of the June Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. This is just the release you needed to see for your summer crafting fun! You are going to love it. Today we start off with an adorable set called Playful Pandas and two (yes, TWO) stencils.
I cannot even get enough of these little pandas. They are so stinkin’ cute I can hardly stand it! And I’m not alone. I was in the process of adhering the card together when my youngest came in and claimed it as “his” birthday card for his older brother. He sure knows the way to this mom’s heart, lol!
I stamped the panda and cut him out (what is not to love about that?!) and then I stamped a bunch of the bamboo images and colored them up really quickly with Copics. I wasn’t sure how many I wanted so I cut them all and then created a bit of a random arrangement. I chose the Hey There sentiment for a more universal card (and birthday, apparently) but I really think this would be funny with the “sorry for what I said when I was hungry”. The black and white striped paper seemed like a natural for the card and I added just a bit of lime paper as a layer for more color. The stencils introduced today are really fab too and I have projects showing you more with those later in the week. So you know what time it is…hop around to the whole DT and make sure leave comments for your chance to win.

I am so super excited to finally share some great news! I am a guest designer for the June release from Concord and 9th!!! I mean really, this is so awesome that I’m almost without words. I mean really, have you seen the June release yet?? If not, just run right over and take a look right now. Here is the link to the New Releases (live at 9am MT on the 9th of each month).
The first set being feature today by the guest designers is called Shine On. It. Is. Awesome! I love this fun Edison style light bulb and all the accessory images and sentiments. And then there are the coordinating dies. But let’s get to the sentiments. Because the second my boys saw this one, they demanded that I use it. Who am I to argue?? I stamped the light images with Momento Ink and colored with Copic Markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the light and fixture then also cut the “Shine” from black card stock. And then I had a thought…I know….dangerous…. *smile* Wanna see??
Yeah, I decided I needed to add a Chibitronics circuit under the light. Because it needed to actually shine. The oldest trusty assistant helped me with the circuit (because summer…and trying to keep brains from rotting on video games). The youngest trusty assistant is featured in the above photo since he really liked the end result. All you have to do is push the word shine and it does.
I’m so glad that you stopped in today. Make sure you hop over to the Concord and 9th Blog to see who the other guests are this month. I’ll give you a hint….you are sure to be in love with their creations! Thanks for joining me today. See you soon!
I hope your week has been good! Sorry to be a little bit absent lately but end of the school year obligations have taken over at my house. Not much time for anything else! I did get a moment, though, to create a card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. Love this fun one from the awesome Jennifer Brum!
As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use this brand new stamp set by Stampin’ Up called Serene Garden. It is part of a bundle by the same name and it is gorgeous! I stamped both corner images and then the extra flowers and the butterfly onto Thick Whisper White card stock. I colored them with Copic Markers. So pretty!! I love them! Using the coordinating dies, I cut out the extras and layered them, adding the bigger flower to follow the lines of the sketch. The sentiment is from an old Paper Pumpkin….love that script.
I hope you have had a nice week so far. The sketch this week is really fun and has lots of room for creativity. I think you will enjoy the DT’s inspiration too. A big thanks to the amazing Jill Hawkins for being our guest this month. Make sure you stop over and tell her how fun it has been having her along! Until next time…have a great week!

Welcome to the last day of the May Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. And for the last day we have not one but TWO adorable Newton sets for you. YAY!!! Yep, two of the greatest things in the world….boxes and donuts.
If you have ever known a cat, you already know all about the phrase “if it fits, it sits”. Well, the new Newton Loves Boxes is all about fitting and sitting!! It is hilarious. When Jennifer Jackson first showed the team the images, we all went just a little bit crazy! Pretty sure that will be the reaction from all of you today too. I created a background with the Pawprints Stencil and Distress Inks and then cut it out with the Frames and Flags Die. I colored up out furry friend and his box and then cut him out with the coordinating die set for the stamp. Don’t you think this sentiment is perfect for the image. Seriously, this cracks me up.
For my second card, I get to introduce Newton’s Donut. Well, I actually colored MY donut. That I want. Right now. But until I can figure out how to get it from him, it is Newtons’ donut. *smile* And because I am pretty sure sprinkles should always include pink and lime green, that is what I chose for the colors.
I made the donut into a chocolate version with vanilla frosting (a favorite of mine) and then tucked in this adorable kitty colored with gray. And there is something about the images with kitty “beans” (paw pads) that make me smile! I used a base of lime patterned paper and some great (retired) pink washi tape to pull the colors from the sprinkles and then added on some sequins in the same colors. On a technical note, I just have to tell you how well engineered this donut die is. Look at the placement of the cut-outs…really fantastic and easy to use! I love the time that is put into each of these sets. It always makes me so proud when I can support Newton’s Nook Designs and their hard work!
This daily double is a real win and I know you will all be as in love with the sets as I am. And now for a chance for free stamps!

Welcome to day 3 of the May Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Being Wednesday, it is also Freshly Made Sketches day so I have used that inspiration to show you the new Papa Bear stamp set.
I just think this Winston set could not be more perfect for Father’s Day. I love that you can add additional little bears as needed too. I thought it would be fun to color on kraft paper using my Copic markers for this one. I love how it turned out! You see, I have a little blonde one and a bigger brown headed one so I colored the “kids” to match that idea. The boys thought it was a fun idea and since this will be from them, yay! I kept all the coloring tone on tone except for the heart and then added some red framing panels to pull that color out a bit. the corrugated kraft adds a nice bit of texture along with the twine. I tried hard to keep this dad-like with no frills or extra “stuff”.Our sketch today is perfect for showing off image sets (like this one) and I can’t wait to see what you all do with it this week. Linda Callahan, she of great humor and even greater talent, is our sketch hostess….it is going to be a fun week!
Now you know the deal by now! Time for a chance to win!

Welcome to day 1 of the May Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. This week is just full of amazing products and I can’t wait to share. Today, we start off with a gorgeous floral set called Blooming Botanicals and a die set that is a must have.
Can I confess that I’m all in on florals right now? So this set made me jump for joy when I saw it. Just look at all those lovely flowers to color!! I opted to stamp the whole image onto white card stock with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I stamped it again so I could have a couple of flowers to color and fussy cut individually. With the whole image was cut out using the Frames and Flags Dies combined with the Framework Dies (for the insert). These sets are meant for mixing and matching! Love that!
I colored the flowers in shades of yellow and orange using my Copic markers, added a few leaves and cut them all out. Then on some Bristol Smooth paper, I sponged on some yellow and orange Distress Inks to coordinate with the flowers. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set onto the panel and the put it behind the window using foam dots (Dimensionals).
I can’t wait to see what the rest of the team has done with this amazing set and the great dies. Make sure to go see what they have created! Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week. A chance to win!!

Welcome to this month’s Fancy Friday Blog Hop! Our team is a group of stampers who love to make beautiful things. Sometimes they are clean, sometimes they are layered but the one thing I can say for sure is that our projects will be fancy! If you hopped over from my friend Holly Stene, welcome to the next stop. For April, we have decided to CASE the Occasions Catalog. Fun, right?
I think CASEing is always a wonderful compliment to the original designer, don’t you?! But I also think there are some nice basic “rules” that go along with it. First, whenever possible I feel it is really important to give credit to the original designer if you are posting your card or using it for a class. I know how happy it makes me to know that I have inspired someone! I also believe in honoring the work that was done by the original artist. Even clean and “simple” cards can take a long time to design because finding balance is challenging. What is simple to copy might have taken hours to get right. Second, when I am CASEing, I look to change at least three things. That way the card is true to the inspiration but still has original elements.
For today’s card, I pulled out Friendship’s Sweetest Thoughts and stamped onto Thick Whisper White with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I really love this adorable set and have not given it nearly enough love. I colored the image using Copic Markers but you could use Stampin’ Blends too. I thought this fun dotted paper from the Tutti-frutti DSP pack was perfect as a base and then added some retired Pop of Pink DSP behind the image. The sentiment comes from the stamp set and I attached the banner with a retired clip.
Stampin’ Up Occasions Catalog p. 41
Here is my inspiration card from the catalog. What are my three changes? Different image and coloring medium, change of designer papers, change of accessory on the banner. So while my card is clearly a CASE, it has a fresh and original feel to it. I wish I knew which of the Concept Artists at Stampin’ Up actually designed this card but it is just fabulous!!
I am thrilled to be joining my Fancy Friends this month. It has been a while and I missed hopping with them. Next up is the incredible Jennifer Picard. I know you will love what she is sharing today!! Thank you for stopping in. Hope to see you again soon!

I hope that this finds you having a great week! Here today with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches. Our host this week is the extraordinary Karren Johnson…one of my coloring idols! She has created a sketch that is sure to be a go-to!!
I thought I’d take a little twist on it and create a split card with this cute Gotta Have Gingham paper (Lawn Fawn) and popped it up leaving the sentiment section recessed. I had this little lion left over from coloring for last week’s FMS card and knew he’d be perfect for the sketch. Could not let an image this cute get lost in the pile of “to be used” stuff. He is from the Jungle Littles set (Hello Bluebird) and I just him for a baby card! I found just the right sentiment in a set from Winnie and Walter that I got at Stamping Away called Sketchy Thoughts…it is one of those you’ll see a lot from me because the sentiments are really fantastic, really usable and perfectly sized! I added on a little bit of twine and called this one complete. I have just the recipient in mind for this one…I’m going to be a great-Aunt in the fall and I’m so excited for my niece and her husband!!
As always, the design team over at FMS has outdone themselves!! So many fun interpretations of the sketch. I hope to see you in the gallery this week! Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!
