Well, all I can say is thank goodness for Freshly Made Sketches!! The beginning of the flying month held 8 out of 11 days gone from home so I can safely say that stamping was pretty much off the table. Then I came home to a house full of sick boys (big and little, alike!) and the last few days haven’t allowed much time to myself. Thankfully, I got to the stamp room for a few minutes yesterday and got to try my take at Kim‘s super fun sketch. I was feeling absolutely NO mojo when I walked in. Totally distracted and my brain racing will all the stuff I need to get done. But her sketch seemed so perfect when I looked around at my stamps.

I had this old retired set, Betsy’s Blossoms, sitting in my closet but it virtually jumped off the shelf for this one. I thought it might be fun to use it with updated colors and I fell in love with it all over again! I stamped the flower in Watermelon Wonder, added mask and then stamped the leaves using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I cut a piece of Basic Black to look like a label and added the sentiment from Lil’ Inker Designs Fancy Feathers set. It was stamped in Versamark and embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I added a layer of black to make the white pop and put it on a Watermelon card base. Super simple but I really love how modern it looks!!

I’m hoping to get back to some more stamping today and tomorrow and I should be back for an early edition of Fancy Friday later this week. Until then, I hope you’ll go enjoy the inspiration from the team! See you soon!

Wow, is it already Wednesday again?! The last week has just flown by! Literally. Because I have been flying TONS! But at least it is Freshly Made Sketches day. Yay for that!! And the clever and so fabulous Linda Callahan has our sketch all ready for this week and it is awesome.

I just got this stamp set called Blue Skies from Lawn Fawn last week and the little balloons called out to be colored for this one. I also got some new Copics so out those came too! Also in the order, Pretty Pink Posh Sequins….yep, I was ready for some spring colors and inspiration for sure! The sentiment on this is from the February Paper Pumpkin, the DSP is retired from SU and the pink strip is a piece of white colored with Copics to match.I know my post is super fast. Long day dealing with weather and another looms for tomorrow. This is a long trip but when I get home, I have some time off so it will be worth it!

Happy Wednesday everyone! I’m so thrilled to share this awesome sketch from the lovely Rita. I was so grateful for this one since my card came together really fast!!

I had colored this flower a few weeks ago when my mom was visiting. We were playing with Zig Clean Color Markers and Shimmery White card stock and this flower was a natural to color. You can’t see it in the picture but the flower has a lovely shimmer to it that makes it even prettier in person. I stamped some Crumb Cake card stock using the Dots for Days stamp and Momento Black. The sentiment is from the February Paper Pumpkin kit (I’m obsessed with this font and the sentiments).

A Colorful Thank You

Today is the last day of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge and I wanted post one last card that I created with my colored samples. Mostly as a big thank you to Kathy for all that she does in this challenge to encourage us all to make time for a little art every day.

I used the retired SU set So Very Grateful because I just love the flowers and the style of artwork on this stamp! It is a fun set to color and I pulled out my Zig Clean Color Markers again for this one. The flowers are stamped with WPlus9 Dye Ink and the sentiment with Versafine Black Onyx. Not much else to add other than I am going to try to keep up my coloring as much as possible because it makes me happy. The overwhelming participation in this challenge says that I’m not alone.

I’m back today with the latest and greatest from Freshly Made Sketches and I do mean great! My friend Jen Mitchell has created a marvelous sketch for this week and you are going to love it!

I had some birds from this wonderful Happy Birds stamp set (WPlu9) colored from the coloring challenge I’ve been doing. This bright happy pink one jumped out and demanded to be used! I used some retired SU DSP from my stash and I love the graphic feel that it gives. I stamped the bird in Momento Tuxedo Black and colored him with my Copics (RV21, RV04, Y06) then cut him out with the coordinating die. I added the little “wire” from the stamp set onto my square panel and then popped the bird on Dimensionals to attach. The sequins and the sentiment are part of the Paper Pumpkin kit from February…..one of my all time faves!

Just a quick post today to share a card I made with a fun new stamp set from WPlus9 called Happy Birds. Sometimes you see a set that just calls out your name and you HAVE to have it and this was one of them for me! of course I got the little dies that coordinate because, well….just has to be done!! So for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge, I had stamped a bunch of the birds and then colored them with both Copics and Zigs. I chose this one colored with Copics (BG11, BG13, BG15, Y17, Y06) after having stamped it with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I wanted this one to have a sense of fun given the sentiment so I created a shaker card. The circle frame was created using the Stitched Mats Circles Dies from Lil’ Inker Designs….fun right?! I used a window sheet and cut a circle from it too and layered it under the frame. Then I pulled out some sequins that I thought were a great match. These are some of the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim flat circles pulled off the trim combined with some of the Metallics Sequins (all from SU). All of this was added to a panel cut with the Stitched Rectangles from SSS. The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

As I continue on my quest to color as much as possible for Kathy Racoosin’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge, I realized I needed to pack a little smarter on some of my trips. So last week I pre-stamped some images and picked some of my Zig Clean Color Markers to bring along to work on during layovers. I posted some of what I did on Instagram and you may have seen part of this image there. I had hoped it would work for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week and it totally did! I am the sketch hostess this week and the big open panel lends itself to all kinds of fun things (I hope!).

I stamped these pretty images from Altenew’s Beautiful Day with WPlus9 Black Dye Ink and used a little bit of masking to cluster the flowers. The zigs did all the work on the coloring. I love how easy it is to create shading with only a couple of markers! I added the little piece of DSP in a color similar to the flower centers and then pulled out some sequins from the Watercolor Wishes kit that complement the colors. The Soft Sky base is pretty with the light blue of the little flowers.

Our team has its normal amazing variety so make sure you go tell the gals how much you love their work! Ok…back to work! But I did bring some more coloring along. I’ll post on Instagram if I get some time on this trip to play! Until next time, hope you have a great week!

I am so happy to be back today with this awesome new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. Our resident Artisan, Amy O’Neill, has created a super one for us this week. You will see the team has some cool interpretations and I think you will have fun with this one.

I continued on my efforts to color as much as possible for The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. I was very inspired by the incredible Dawn Woleslagle of WPlus9 and wanted to try her technique for creating a watercolor look using stamps. She is a true artist but I simplified her method a bit to make these little flowers. I have a video to show you the details.

Essence of Love…

I am continuing my coloring practice for The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge with this card today. I love this retired image it is perfect for working on shading. I also saw the Time Out Challenge #49 with their inspiration challenge: “Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow”. Again….this image is simply perfect. So I got to work. I stamped with Smoky Slate (SU) ink and colored with my Copics. Once I was done, I cut it out with a Stitched Rectangles Die. When I put it on the white panel, it seemed a little blah so I added some stenciled sponging. The stencil is from the Happy Patterns masks group. I used my Ranger Mini Round Blending Tool (I love it because it doesn’t create edges). Once I had the background on, I liked it much better. I popped the image up on Dimensionals and added some Sparkling Clear Sequins (PPP).

Gray Flower Copic Coloring Tutorial

I had a few requests to show you how I created the gray flower from my post a few days ago with this card.

So I created a quick video to show you the basics of my Copic coloring. I will apologize now….some of the video quality is not what I would want but I was trying out creating videos with my IPhone for the first time and clearly have some things to work out.
