So Very Kind

So Very Kind published on No Comments on So Very Kind

So Very Kind by Jen Timko | So Very Kind Greeting Die by Lil' Inker Designs, Tim Holtz Distress InksDropping in today to show you some sweet little note cards that I made.  Something about a little card that you can tuck into a package always makes me smile.  And I don’t seem to make them enough.  This little die with the sentiment comes from Lil’ Inker Designs and was among the sweet products I got at Stamping Away (I might as well warn you that I have many posts worth of enabling as I get to use these items).  I made little 3″ x 3″ squares and then used the die to cut out the centers.  Because I used Bristol Smooth paper, I was able to add these fun watercolor looks using Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  I simply smooshed the ink onto a small acrylic block, spritzed with water and dabbed the color onto cut sentiments.  So easy and yet so fun!  Once dry, I attached them onto 3″ x 3″ cards and they are all ready to go.  These already have homes that they are going to so I think I need to set about making more to have on hand.

Thanks so much to Lil’ Inker Designs for sponsoring Stamping Away.  You are, indeed, so very kind!

Back tomorrow with a fun hop that you are going to LOVE!  Until then, have a great day!

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Birthday Essentials

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Birthday Essentials published on 28 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Birthday Essentials

Welcome back for the last day of the March Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  For our final reveal I have what you are sure to see as a “work horse” stamp set…a wonderful sentiment set called Birthday Essentials.

Celebrate by Jen Timko | Birthday Essentials Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Magic Stamp by Clear Snap, Distress Oxide Ink by Tim HoltzSo I have a confession to make.  My name is Jennifer and I’m a sentiment hoarder.  I love sentiment sets.  I “collect” sentiment sets.  Having just the right ones for inside and outside the card is simply a quest so I hold on to them even as I let images go now and then.  So when a set that is all about birthdays comes along, you can bet that I’m doing a happy dance.  Another truth (because, hey it is just among friends)…I never seem to have enough masculine cards.  Perhaps it is because Kitty Kate and I are outnumbered.  Perhaps it is my obsession with cute images and all flowers.  But somehow, when it comes time to reach for a card for man, I don’t have the right one.  So I committed to making one (and I’ll be making a few more just like it).  I felt like I need a cool background so I used this fun Magic Stamp by Clearsnap.  It allows you to make your own background and just stamp.  I was playing with it on my trip to Kansas and the incredible Jen Shults (yes, I did just name drop) suggested I press it into some concrete on the sidewalk.  And I got this texture.  Cool!!  I inked it up with Distress Oxide Ink and just stamped onto watercolor paper, then spritzed with a little water.

Celebrate by Jen Timko closeup | Birthday Essentials Stamp by Newton's Nook Designs, Magic Stamp by Clear SnapThis big bold sentiment (which fits perfectly onto the Frames and Flags Die banner) becomes the focus and I have a fabulous, non-girly, no bling birthday card.  Yay!!!  And while this is super clean, the great script sentiment makes this still feel special.  Birthday Essentials for the win!!

I hope you like this card idea and I’m just sure you will love everything the team made for today.  Now one more time for this release…  A chance to win!!

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Newton’s Birthday Balloons

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Newton’s Birthday Balloons published on 29 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Newton’s Birthday Balloons

Welcome back for day 3 of the March Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  Wednesdays in release week are doubly good since I get a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches too!  AND….we get to introduce a new Newton…Newton’s Birthday Balloons.

Wish by Jen Timko | Newton's Birthday Balloons Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Bubbly Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs, Copic ColoringI colored up my little kitty with Copic markers and gave him some balloons in fun colors.  It looks to me like the balloons are carrying him away.  The sentiment is from the Balloon Shaker Die shown yesterday.  The sketch from Linda today gave me a great chance to show off Newton with the new Bubbly stencil (used to emboss).  In my brain those bubbles are just helping to lift Newton up and away.  I added some Clear Drops to help highlight the bubbles too.  Yeah…I may have had a little too much fun with this whole card.

I know all you Newton fans are going to love this set!  And I hope you’ll be able to join us this week at Freshly Made Sketches too.  Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Uplifting Wishes Stamp and Balloon Shaker Die

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Uplifting Wishes Stamp and Balloon Shaker Die published on 30 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Uplifting Wishes Stamp and Balloon Shaker Die

Welcome back for day 2 of the March Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  We are back with a pair that is sure to bring a smile.  Introducing the Uplifting Wishes Stamp Set and the coordinating Balloon Shaker Die.

Smile by Jen Timko | Uplifting Wishes Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs, Balloon Shaker Die by Newton's Nook Designs, 28 Lilac Lane SequinsIs there anyone that doesn’t love a shaker card?!  I think not!  I love the idea of a balloon shaker and today’s combination of products is fun for so many occasions.  I stamped this sentiment onto Shimmery White paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then cut it out using the outline balloon.  I cut another piece of the same white with the shaker border die.  I ran some of the double sided foam (NND) through with the shaker border die and the acetate (NND) through with the outline.  I ran some antistatic powder around the inside edge of the foam (to keep the sequins from sticking) and they put the whole thing together.  I think it takes longer to type up how to do it than to actually make this fun balloon!  Once my little shaker was together, all I had to do was put it on a fun background.  I used the Frames and Flags dies to layer these prints and tied on a little coordinating twine to finish the balloon before attaching it.

I hope you enjoy my card for today and I know you’ll enjoy the projects from the rest of the team.  Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Holding Happiness

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Holding Happiness published on 39 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Holding Happiness

Welcome to day 1 of the March Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  We have lots in store for you and the focus is birthdays!  Today we have an adorable set called Holding Happiness (with coordinating dies) along with two new stencils, Bubbly and Confetti.

Big Wishes by Jen Timko | Holding Happiness Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Chameleon Pens, Striped Frames Confetti Cut Die by Reverse ConfettiI cannot even say how much I’m in love with this first reveal set!  I’m so excited for all the possibilities with it.  This sweet gal and her balloons called out to be colored with fun, bright tones and I thought using my Chameleon Markers (and Color Tops) would be perfect.  This sentiment from the set is awesome to use with each of the images and I simply stamped it in the corner of this popped up panel.  I dug through my collection of sequins to find some that match my balloon colors to add just a little more detail.

I can’t wait to see what the whole team has done with this set…sure to be amazing!  And these stencils are another great addition.  I’ll show you more with those later this week.  Off to a great start for sure.  Now on to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!

Welcome to the Family – Winnie and Walter Rerun

Welcome to the Family – Winnie and Walter Rerun published on 6 Comments on Welcome to the Family – Winnie and Walter Rerun

Happy Friday everyone!!  I’m thrilled to be here today to help launch a new Rerun Feature and Challenge over at Winnie and Walter.  The stamp set for this month is Welcome to the Family with Eveline T Designs.

Welcome Little One by Jen Timko | Welcome to the Family Stamp by Winnie and Walter, Lawn Fawn Gotta Have Gingham Paper, Tim Holtz Distress Ink WatercoloringI think this little set is simply precious and I fell in love with the giraffe.  With a baby them in mind, I chose soft Distress Ink Colors and colored this little fellow on Fabriano Watercolor paper.  Just a little masking to allow him to sit on the block.

Welcome Little One by Jen Timko | CloseupI masked the sentiment as well to mix the script with the print….love the flexibility to do that!  Once everything was stamped and colored, I cut the image layer and the gingham paper using cross stitched dies.  Finally a little black twine for an added detail.

I talked a bit about the Stamping Away retreat that I attended last week in my post from Wednesday and this is another of the sets so generously given to us by Shay of Winnie and Walter.  She really is incredible!!  And the Rerun has cards created by some of my retreat friends too so make sure to go see them all!

I’m also linking this with the Simon Wednesday Challenge where the theme is Girl Power and the focus is on Winnie and Walter stamps.  Hope you enjoy my card and that you will be inspired to join in this month!  Make sure to go check out the Winnie and Walter blog for all the details!  Thanks so much for stopping in.  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #327

Freshly Made Sketches #327 published on 9 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #327

FMS327 by Jen Timko | In Bloom Julie's Roses Stamp by Winnie and Walter, Into the Woods Stamp by Winnie and WalterHow is it already Wednesday again?  My last week has been a bit of a whirlwind and I’ll share more about that later in this post.  First, though, let’s talk about Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer this week is my friend Jen Mitchell.  She always makes the most lovely clean cards and her style is fantastic!  She gave us a cool angled panel to use and I love the options with it.

I started with this amazing wood grain stamp from Winnie and Walter called Into the Woods.  Isn’t it fantastic?!  Putting it on the angle seemed to just work well and I like not having to add a layer.  Julie’s Roses (another Winnie and Walter set) gave me this lovely flower and the sentiment.  The image looks colored but I actually just stamped using my Misti with the fill-in stamp from the set.  I started with Altenew’s Citrus Burst ink and then layered on some Maple Yellow on the edges by re-stamping.  The leaves are stamped the same way with Altenew’s Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades inks.  I fussy cut the images and added some sequins for a little extra touch.

Now for a little more about me.  Last Wednesday, I left on the most wonderful adventure.  I was invited to attend a retreat at the Whatever Craft House.  Just go look at that incredible house….Yes, click now.  I’ll wait.  Stamping Away March 2018 was truly a retreat full of inspiration and laughter.  I met new friends and some of my stamping idols.  All of them were so kind and welcoming.  The retreat actually has sponsors that are incredibly generous and I can promise you’ll be seeing the products I received over the next weeks and months (yes, there really is that much!).  I want to share one picture of me from the house.  These colored stairs are a bit iconic to the house and I remembered to get a photo on the last day.  Yes, I was a bit tired (hard to sleep when there is that much stamping to do!) but really happy.

Jen Timko - Whatever Craft House in Newton, KS

As I sat down to create the card for today, I admit that my creative brain was a bit scattered.  So I chose the Winnie and Walter stamps because Shay (who IS Winnie and Walter) was at the retreat.  And she is such a fun person!  I so enjoyed meeting her and watching her create with her own images…talk about insight into design.  She has a crazy amount of talent but is so down to earth.  And she was insanely generous to all of us at the retreat!

I hope that you love this card and that you’ll have time to play along with our sketch.  Also, we have a new guest designer for the month of March.  Make sure you stop by to say hi to Claire Apostoloff.  Thank you so much for stopping in today. I hope you have a wonderful crafty day!

You're Out of This World by Jen Timko | Cosmic Newton Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Shattered Glass Foil by Therm-o-web, Deco Foil Transfer Gel by Therm-o-webSomething about sparkling foil made me know that I should pull out my Cosmic Newton stamp and Starfield Stencil and I’m so glad I did.  I will say that the Therm O Web Deco Foil is a new to me product and I love how easy it is to use.  The Transfer Gel works just like embossing paste and then you simply foil over it.  For Newton, I stamped in Momento ink first and colored with Copics, then stamped again with Versamark (the Misti is a life-saver here!!) and embossed with silver embossing powder. So easy and no worries about messing up your Copic tips with the embossing.  I created a short video to show you the whole process!

I have a direct link here if you would prefer:  Foiling with Thermoweb and Newton’s Nook Designs

Look to the Newton’s Nook Designs and Therm O Web blogs all this week for tons of inspiration!!

Truly Grateful

Truly Grateful published on 2 Comments on Truly Grateful

Truly Grateful by Jen Timko | Shades of Autumn Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Lovely Blooms Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide InkToday is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog.  Even though it is the beginning of March, we are starting to see signs of spring here in Virginia.  My daffodils seem almost ready to bloom, if you can believe it.  I went a little non-standard and actually started with a set introduced in the fall…Shades of Autumn.  But I gave it a spring twist courtesy of the color palette and some flower dies from Lovely Blooms.

I pulled out my Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint and created some backgrounds that I could cut with my dies.  The green I cut with the Shades of Autumn Dies and Lovely Blooms Dies (the leaves).  Then I cut out some blossoms with the Lovely Blooms flowers.  I love the variations from the Oxide inks and how they make these dies take on such depth.  On some more watercolor paper, I created a background with Broken China Oxide ink and then stamped the sentiment from Shades of Autumn in the middle.  I found some pink card stock to coordinate with the flowers and that completes the spring feel, don’t you think?  We may yet have a touch of winter coming but at least I can celebrate flowers and greenery in my stamp room!

I hope you like this fun way to use dies!  Make sure to stop by the Newton’s Nook Designs blog for daily inspiration.  Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll see you soon!
