Picket Fence Studios and WOW! Embossing Collaboration Blog Hop

Picket Fence Studios and WOW! Embossing Collaboration Blog Hop published on 35 Comments on Picket Fence Studios and WOW! Embossing Collaboration Blog Hop

I love when crafty companies get together and share the joy! It is such a great part of our industry and one to celebrate! Today, Picket Fence Studios and WOW! Embossing are joining together. Two teams, tons of inspiration! Hang on for some AH-MAZING projects! If you arrived from Erica’s blog, welcome. If you are starting with me, just hop along with the list at the bottom until you get back here. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention PRIZES! Yes, of course there are prizes from these two amazing companies! Details later in the post.

I know that we are still in July but, to be honest, if I don’t start on Christmas cards now I will never get them done. One of the things I look for when designing mine for the year is something I can make in bulk that won’t make me too crazy. I don’t love creating in bulk, you see. So the design needs to be simple but with a special touch. As a CAS stamper, simple seems to be what I make the most of but the special part…that is where the WOW! embossing powders come in. When I was playing with this design, I originally tested two powders on this pretty Neenah Desert Storm paper. Both results were so pretty that I could not decide which I liked. So I asked my most honest critics. My boys! One chose “gold” and one chose “silver”. And I realized I didn’t have to actual choose at all!

Armed with my trusty MISTI, I had all the elements in place to stamp multiples. This Fern Picture Frame stamp from Picket Fence Studios is gorgeous for holiday cards! All the detail is perfect for embossing! I stamped in Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with White Pearl and Oyster Glintz powders. I had a happy accident with these choices, by the way. I had played with a number of colors on white card stock and knew how gorgeous they are in “true” color. But on the kraft, these took on the silver and gold look. I love products that can really give value and can multitask. I was pleasantly surprised that this could happen with embossing powder! When I get further along with my creating for Christmas, don’t be surprised when you see this exact card layout done on white with these powders and others. The sentiment for this card comes from the String of Lights Stamp Set. This whole set would be amazing with embossing powders….hmmm, chances are I’ll be making that too. I thought a few sequins were the perfect touch on the wreaths and I found some in my large stash that matched perfectly. Love the monochromatic feel but you could use colored jewels or pearls too. So now to more fun….

PRIZES – No Blog hop is complete without a prize!

WOW! Embossing Powders has 6 powders of your choosing along with a WOW carry case to store your powders safely in.

Feature Friday with Concord and 9th – Furry Friends

Merry Reindeer by Jen Timko | Furry Friends Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, O Christmas Tree Stamp Set by Concord and 9thToday I have my last Feature Friday with Concord and 9th and we are showing off the new Furry Friends stamp set.  So many different elements with so many options!!  So of course I had to make two cards.

First up, I chose the reindeer and decided to turn him into a little Rudolph for Christmas.  My first Christmas card of the year, I think.  I stamped the wreath and added some clear rhinestones for sparkle.  Then I stamped the line image for the deer and added the inner solid images.

Merry Reindeer by Jen Timko | Furry Friends Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, O Christmas Tree Stamp Set by Concord and 9thThese are remarkable easy to line up, especially if you have a MISTI.  I did the same for the antlers and again, easy to line up.  I colored a rhinestone with a red Copic Marker to add to the nose…so fun!!  Finally a sentiment from one of my favorites, O Christmas Tree.  I put the image panel over some great red patterned paper to help pull the red from the nose and to give it a festive feel.  These would be easy to make in a stack (I need to get on that)!

Party Animal by Jen Timko | Furry Friends Stamp Set and Dies by Concord and 9th, Shaker Card, Marbled Smooch Technique, Smooch Accent InkFor my second card, I thought the unicorn option would be fun.  I used some leftover panels that I had created using the Marbled Smooch technique and as part of my Smooch Accent Ink review for Splitcoaststampers.  The panel on the back side of the shaker and the paper pieced mane on the unicorn were cut from a pattern I created.   I thought the blues and purples were a natural for a unicorn.  I stamped the horn, colored with some Gold Lamé Smooch and then stamped again one the Smooch was dry to cover if I went a little out of the lines.  Again, the MISTI is perfect to make this fast and simple.  The frame is from the coordinating die set in the bundle…love those stitched details, don’t you?  I added a variety of sequins to match and put the shaker and sentiment on a base of Fog Gray.

It has been such a privilege to work with Concord and 9th this month.  I’m grateful for the chance to help show off these amazing products and I have become even more of a fan of C9 (if that is possible).  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #313

Freshly Made Sketches #313 published on 4 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #313

FMS313 by Jen Timko | Cheers to the Year Stamp by Stampin' Up, Paper Pumpkin by Stampin' UpAnother week has flown by and we are back to Wednesday and Freshly Made Sketches day!  I keep feeling like the holidays are sneaking right up on me.  I decided I needed to get a bit more serious on my Christmas card production and thought it would be good to create some that are easy to reproduce.  Karren Johnson‘s sketch this week to the rescue!

I pulled out this pretty set called Cheers to the Year by Stampin’ Up.  Lovely snowflakes!  I stamped them in Smokey Slate and Dapper Denim inks (SU).  Pretty combination for sure!  After some debate, I realized I had just the right sentiment for the job from the October Paper Pumpkin kit (Stampin’ Up) and it fit the space perfectly.  The nature of the kits means that the images and sentiments are on trend and I really love this one!  I thought it might need a little something extra so I added some Basic Pearls then popped it onto a Basic Gray card base.  I think the assembly line is getting ready to get moving on this one!

I hope you are having a good week.  The design team has created a lovely variety of cards with this fun sketch and I think it is one you will have fun with too.  Hope you’ll have time to play along!  I will be back on Friday with the latest from Fancy Friday.  Until then, I hope you have a great day!

Supplies:

Stamp:  Cheers to the Year (SU), Paper Pumpkin Oct 17 Sentiment; Paper:  Thick Whisper White (SU), Basic Gray (SU); Ink:  Smokey Slate, Dapper Denim; Accessories: Misti, Basic Pearls

Freshly Made Sketches #298

Freshly Made Sketches #298 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #298

FMS298 by Jen Timko | Be Merry Stamp Set and Dies by WPlus9, Copic ColoringHello friends!!  Sorry about the long break.  Pesky work and fun summer activities have gotten in the way over the last couple of weeks and I haven’t had any real time in the stamp room.  GASP!!!  So what to do when presented with a great sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches?  When it is a million degrees outside in July?  Create the first Christmas card of the year, of course!  I love this sketch by the witty and fabulous Linda Callahan.

As soon as I saw this one, I started pondering a meandering group of images on the diagonal.  Somehow, these pretty little leaves and flowers practically jumped out of the stamp collection and a Christmas card was born.  I stamped the images from WPlus9’s Be Merry in Momento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic Markers using traditional colors.  Something about the pops of red and green against the white base really made me happy.  I confess that the sentiments in this stamp set are what drew me in and I LOVE this one.

Well, I’m back to my previously scheduled chaos.  On the agenda today….back to school clothes shopping.  For a rising high schooler and a rising middle schooler.  Pray for me.  *smile*  Make sure you check out the inspiration from the team and I can’t wait to see how you interpret this sketch!  Have a great day!
