Happy 4th of July!!! For all of you in the US, I hope you have a happy and safe celebration. We are off to a baseball game and to see fireworks in downtown DC. Should be a very classic celebration for us! But it is also Wednesday and we have a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. The lovely Cécile Ribon is our hostess this week and the sketch is perfect for her clean but always intricate style.
My card uses the Floral Phrases stamp set from Stampin’ Up. A set that I have loved from the moment I first saw it! I love these flowers on the angle for the sketch!! I stamped onto Thick Whisper White with some Lawn Fawn ink in Mermaid. The sentiment is from the same set and I simply layered banners. I thought it needed a little a little something extra so I added some pearls. It was just what the card needed for me!
Some fun news from FMS! Our July Guest Designer is revealed today and it is my wonderful friend Caly Person. If you don’t know her, you should! Go check out her card for today then hop over to see her blog. Short and sweet today. Must get to the ball park early, after all! I hope you have a wonderful day.
So today is a day that I have really mixed feelings about. A year and half ago, I was given the amazing opportunity to become a design team member for Newton’s Nook Designs. Jen and Jeff Jackson took a chance on me and I am forever grateful! Being on this team has allowed me to stretch creatively with the support of an incredible group of designers. What a privilege! But today, it is time to say goodbye as a team member. Making the decision to leave was a tough one but it is the right one for me right now. I’m going to breathe, create for me and see what stamping adventure comes next.
But first, I want to let you know what I have learned being on this team. I always knew that small business owners were important to our country. Now I know for sure that small business owners are the heart of it. Especially in our creative world, I’m grateful for entrepreneurs like Jen and Jeff. They run Newton’s Nook Designs with love and caring. You see this in their art and humor. And as a design team member, you get to see behind the curtain, so to speak. What did I find?? More love and caring. The design team becomes family. The communication and organization is so impressive. I can hardly find enough compliments for how I feel about the entire experience working with Newton’s Nook.
When I needed to ponder a “farewell” card, I was a bit overwhelmed. I finally decided to create a card with my very first NND stamp. You have seen me return to it often and it remains an all time favorite. In the end, I created something clean, because I guess that is really who I am creatively. I stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Then I pulled out my Daniel Smith paints and just painted for fun. I tried to create some color variations on the flowers and just create a pretty summer wreath. I added this sentiment from the stamp set (all of them in the set are fantastic). But I thought that is was perfect for all of you who have supported my work while on the DT. For all the kind and encouraging comments, I cannot tell you how much they mean. Thank you, all of you, for your sweet words!
So over at the Newton’s Nook Blog today, they have posted some cards that are my faves from the last year and a half. I hope you’ll go over to visit and see them. And as with all change, you will find out some fun news over the next few days about who will be joining the team to inspire you. You are sure to be thrilled! Thanks so much for stopping in today. I’m grateful you shared some time with me. See you soon!

Today I have my last Feature Friday with Concord and 9th and we are showing off the new Furry Friends stamp set. So many different elements with so many options!! So of course I had to make two cards.
First up, I chose the reindeer and decided to turn him into a little Rudolph for Christmas. My first Christmas card of the year, I think. I stamped the wreath and added some clear rhinestones for sparkle. Then I stamped the line image for the deer and added the inner solid images.
These are remarkable easy to line up, especially if you have a MISTI. I did the same for the antlers and again, easy to line up. I colored a rhinestone with a red Copic Marker to add to the nose…so fun!! Finally a sentiment from one of my favorites, O Christmas Tree. I put the image panel over some great red patterned paper to help pull the red from the nose and to give it a festive feel. These would be easy to make in a stack (I need to get on that)!
For my second card, I thought the unicorn option would be fun. I used some leftover panels that I had created using the Marbled Smooch technique and as part of my Smooch Accent Ink review for Splitcoaststampers. The panel on the back side of the shaker and the paper pieced mane on the unicorn were cut from a pattern I created. I thought the blues and purples were a natural for a unicorn. I stamped the horn, colored with some Gold Lamé Smooch and then stamped again one the Smooch was dry to cover if I went a little out of the lines. Again, the MISTI is perfect to make this fast and simple. The frame is from the coordinating die set in the bundle…love those stitched details, don’t you? I added a variety of sequins to match and put the shaker and sentiment on a base of Fog Gray.
It has been such a privilege to work with Concord and 9th this month. I’m grateful for the chance to help show off these amazing products and I have become even more of a fan of C9 (if that is possible). Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon!

Happy Freshly Made Sketches day!! I’m your sketch hostess this week and I hope you will have some time to play along with us! As usual, I left some wide open white space for you to use as you want to.
For my card, I pulled out this awesome Grateful For You stamp by Concord and 9th. I love that it is just one stamp with the sentiment and all the fun flowers! I colored it up with my Copic Markers to create a pretty summer garden feel. To add just a little more to the panel, I used the Wonky Stitches Rectangles die to cut the panel. Love how it gives a nice frame! I found out that the YG greens that I love in Copics match perfectly with this new Granny Apple Green card stock from SU so I added that to my base for a pop of color. I thought a little bit of thin ribbon along that border would be a nice touch too. And that is it! A nice clean and happy card!
The design team has some amazing work to share with you, of course, and we are happy to see Laurie with us as our guest designer one more time. It has been fantastic having her along with us for June!! Thanks for stopping in today. See you on Friday with another Feature Friday.

This week Newton’s Nook Designs and Xyron are partnering for an awesome inspiration week! Each day there is fresh inspiration using Newton’s Nook Designs products with Xyron adhesives on the NND blog and on the Xyron facebook page! I am thrilled to be here on the lead off day to share with you.
Today’s card all started with the Cameo Frames Die Set. This intricate die is gorgeous but I will admit that dies like this (and word dies) sometime intimidate me because of how to adhere them to a card. So I was a stamper on a mission and took advantage of this collaboration to see what solution I could find. And you know what?? I found one! The Xyron sticker makers are a new to me product and I’m officially in love.
I started by running some glitter paper through the sticker maker. That is certainly simple enough! I removed the top clear layer and then put my die down on the paper. Next up, the Big Shot. I shimmed this with some plain typing paper to force the cut a little more and then ran it back and forth a few times to make sure the cut was really complete. When you remove the die, you are left with a die cut that has a sticky backing. Talk about making things easier! Once I knew it was that simple, I got to designing the rest of the card. This frame is so pretty all alone that I didn’t want to cover it or take away from it. So I pulled out some vellum and did some Versamark stamping followed by silver embossing powder.
I used the Peony Blooms stamp set (one of my all time faves) on the vellum. I added the sentiment from the same set off center. The backing was pulled off the frame and it adhered perfectly. I glued down the flowers and then added a clear button and some silver thread. To add to the silver (but trying not to take away from the gorgeous frame and images), I added a silver striped vellum to a white base. And that’s it.
It all started with the frame and the ability to glue it down simply. Xyron has so many wonderful products and you are sure to find tons of inspiration from the combined DT’s this week. And guess what…a chance to win!

Happy Friday!! Wow it has been quite a week and I’m happy to end it with this week’s Feature Friday with Concord and 9th. This week we are focusing on the City Stacks bundle. There are so many options with this set that my head was spinning with ideas. After pondering a bit, I settled down into an idea that centers on this amazing sentiment. I LOVE this sentiment.
I stamped the tree image onto Bristol Smooth paper and colored using some Daniel Smith watercolor paints. Just different shades of green. With a quick cut using the coordinating dies, this layer was done. Then I took another piece of Bristol Smooth and inked it up with a variety of blue Distress Inks. I splattered with a bit of water and then finished with a little splatters of gold Smooch Accent Ink to mimic stars (the stamp set has stars so that is totally a great choice too). And then I debated some more. I finally settled on using a dark blue panel that is cut using the “top” die from the die set. I like the detail it gives. The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with gold embossing powder. Finally, to add the perfect finish with all the gold, I added a small strip of the gold glitter paper from the Neutrals Glitter Paper Pack. All the shine is hard to capture in a photo but it is really spectacular in person.
I popped up my layers on foam tape but this bundle is designed to create 3-D cards. Make sure you watch the tutorials from Concord and 9th to see how cool this is! You can also see inspiration from all the Feature Friday designers on the Concord and 9th Blog. Thanks for stopping in today. See you again soon!

Welcome to the last of the June Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Our favorite feline is back to cap off the week and you are sure to love this adorable set.
If you are a cat person, you probably had a “kneader” in your house, I certainly do. Little Kate is a chirpy purr kneader. So I just had to use this sentiment. I decided to color this one up to look like the real Newton. I do love an orange kitty and the pictures of Newton are always so sweet. I colored him using Zig Clean Color Markers and added the little white hat (because it is just so cute!!). I pulled out a pack of designer paper and found this orange print that seemed perfect to go behind our kitty friend.
All the images in this new set are great…especially if you love to cook as well! So you know what time it is…hop around to the whole DT and make sure leave comments for your chance to win.

Welcome to day 3 of the June Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Busy, busy bees we are today because the team has two sets to feature!! And there is wine. Because…Wednesday! I have some Freshly Made Sketches too…also because Wednesday.
As with yesterday, the stencil was the start of my design. Today, I chose the Serene Stripes Stencil and sponged on some Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink over it. I just made it fade a bit as it went down the card. I love stencils!!! So much wow! I stamped the sentiment from the Coffee and Wine over the stenciling and then stamped some of the images (all of this was onto Bristol Vellum card stock). I colored the cup and bottle with some more Distress Ink and then popped them up on foam dots (Dimensionals). I found some sequins that matched (YAY!) so I added those and then put the whole layer on a black base.
For my second card, I used the fun sketch designed by Amy O’Neill for Freshly Made Sketches to show off the Wine a Little stamp set and dies. This sentiment (and the others in the set) are such fun and perfect for any wino oenophile. Like me. I created pretty glasses that I’d love to have and filled them with yummy red wine. But feel free to color your own fave!
Because you made it to Wednesday, you deserve a glass of wine. And a chance to win! So you know what time it is…hop around to the whole DT and make sure leave comments. They make me and the other designers smile really big and they really mean a ton!

Welcome to day 2 of the June Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Today’s set reveal is sure to make you smile…I mean really, who doesn’t like llamas?? So naturally, you will fall for Loveable Llamas!
This gorgeous stencil was my starting place of the card. The Sunscape Stencil give you the choice of the sun, some landscape or both! It is awesome! I chose to use just the sun for this and sponged on some Distress Ink in yellows and oranges. Then I got to coloring this super fun little llama. I love all the options for him and oh, those glasses. Well, they were a must to go along with the sunny background. Plus, the glasses make the card super “cool” for just about anyone’s birthday! I colored the llama and his accessories using Distress Inks too and then just layered them on. This was just a fun card to make!
I love when a stamp set makes it simply fun to sit down and create! So you know what time it is…hop around to the whole DT and make sure leave comments for your chance to win.

Welcome to day 1 of the June Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. This is just the release you needed to see for your summer crafting fun! You are going to love it. Today we start off with an adorable set called Playful Pandas and two (yes, TWO) stencils.
I cannot even get enough of these little pandas. They are so stinkin’ cute I can hardly stand it! And I’m not alone. I was in the process of adhering the card together when my youngest came in and claimed it as “his” birthday card for his older brother. He sure knows the way to this mom’s heart, lol!
I stamped the panda and cut him out (what is not to love about that?!) and then I stamped a bunch of the bamboo images and colored them up really quickly with Copics. I wasn’t sure how many I wanted so I cut them all and then created a bit of a random arrangement. I chose the Hey There sentiment for a more universal card (and birthday, apparently) but I really think this would be funny with the “sorry for what I said when I was hungry”. The black and white striped paper seemed like a natural for the card and I added just a bit of lime paper as a layer for more color. The stencils introduced today are really fab too and I have projects showing you more with those later in the week. So you know what time it is…hop around to the whole DT and make sure leave comments for your chance to win.
