Freshly Made Sketches #48

Freshly Made Sketches #48 published on 11 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #48

I hope your week is going well so far!  Hard to believe it is Wednesday already but here we are with another Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  This week’s sketch is courtesy of the amazing Tui Nathan.  I love the opportunities this one gives with those little panels across the card.

I have been making a number of Christmas projects lately (which you will get to see soon) so I was drawn back to some of the summer colors for this card.  I thought the prints from Twitterpated DSP would be fun to use again.  I realized that they worked perfectly with Betsy’s Blossoms…what a bonus!  The best part is the layout does all the work and is quick and fun.  I pulled out the sentiment from Made For You since it is still one of my new favorites.

The team has so many creative uses for this sketch and you are sure to love them.  Make sure to go right over and take a look!

I’ll be back on Friday for the Stampin’ Addicts Holiday Catalog Blog Hop (sneak peek is on the previous post).  Hope to see you then.  Until then, have a great week!

Stamps:  Betsy’s Blossoms, Made For You; Paper:  Twitterpated DSP, Whisper White;  Ink:  Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzazz (ret); Accessories:  Dimensionals

Happy Wednesday and welcome back to see another sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. This week the sketch is mine and I hope you love it!  I thought it would be a fun way to show of scraps of designer papers and punches or framelits.  The design team has done their usual fantastic job and you will love their cards!

Keeping with my original idea, I chose to use some scraps from the beautiful Everyday Enchanted DSP I have left from Sale-a-bration. I still love this paper and want to use every little bit of it!  I thought using a butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit would be a pretty way to top off the circle (a 1-3/4″ Circle Punch).  But what sentiment?  I used part of a bigger stamp from the Convention set I Am and thought that “One of a Kind” was perfect for the single butterfly.  I think I know just who this is for…she too is one of a kind.  I did do just a little sponging but without frames and too much extra, I think it still holds to the clean rules for the Freshly Made Sketches concept.

Now…off with you to go see what the team has created!  You will be so inspired!  Can’t wait to see what you will create.  Hope you will join us this week.

Trying to get some extra stamping time this week and I might even get back with an extra post.  Until then, thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!

Stamp:  I Am (Convention exclusive); Paper:  Everyday Enchanted DSP (SAB), Naturals Ivory; Ink:  Soft Suede; Accessories:  Big Shot, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, 1-3/4″ Circle Punch, Dimensionals, Sponges

SUOC51 – Designer Papers

SUOC51 – Designer Papers published on 4 Comments on SUOC51 – Designer Papers

It is SUO Challenges day and our theme this week will work for everyone!  Designer papers!  We all love them and they make stamping so fun and easy!  Stampin’ Up’s designer series papers really are amazing because the coordinate with our exclusive colors and stamps…makes it even easier to make fantastic cards!  The hardest part for this challenge was choosing which paper set to highlight.

It shouldn’t surprise you that I went with the Floral District DSP.  Let’s face it…I love it!  It just says summery and fun.  I thought I’d pull out a new set Daydream Medallions and see if I could make these work together.  I think yes!  Once I stamped the medallions, I went off to search for a sentiment and came back with the Convention stamp set I Am.  This one was exclusive to Convention and I love the sentiments in it.  I thought this was a fun way to show them.  I added a new Vintage Faceted Button (LOVE these) to finish it off.  See, the DSP did all the work of deciding the colors!  The sketch is courtesy of the Fall-to Layout 202.  It was just perfect for showcasing these pretty papers.

Now when you go over to SUO Challenges you will find two notable things.  First, you’ll see that I’m not the only one that loves Floral District DSP!  Second, and most importantly, you will notice a change in our design team.  We have added the most awesomely talented Connie Babbert of Inkspired Treasures.  The whole team is so happy to have her join us!  Make sure you go tell her welcome too.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a new card for Freshly Made Sketches. Until then, have a great day.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamps:  Daydream Medallions, I Am; Paper:  Floral District DSP, Basic Black, Whisper White; Ink:  Rose Red, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black; Accessories:  Stamp-a-ma-jig, Vintage Faceted Buttons, Thread, Dimensionals

The perfect “princess”

I’m on the road (again) but I wanted to update you all on the stamp drive I held for Sydney and RMHC.  I sold enough to have a workshop and Becky from West Virginia was randomly chosen as the hostess!! Congratulations Becky!  My thanks to all of you who purchased the set and also to Jean and my mom to making donations to Sydney’s Children’s Cancer Research Fund.  With their donations and the profits from the workshop (plus a little from me to round it off) we will have donated $100 to Sydney’s fund and $30 to the RMHC from the stamp sales.  I really appreciate your support and can’t wait to send the card to Sydney and her family this week!

I couldn’t leave you all without some pictures so I thought I would share some pictures of our “new” kitty.  Nevermind that she has been with us since January.  *smile*  Many of you wrote me such sweet notes when our sweet friend Pito passed.  After the holidays had come and gone, my dear husband asked when it would be time for a new kitty.  I put him off (scheduling, training, etc) and he looked at me and laughed.  Off we went to the local shelter!!  I went looking for another little boy kitty.  We have always joked that with  all the males in my house that I am the queen and there will be no other.  But a sweet little calico kitty had other intent.  She had been found with a splint on her paw that was in terrible condition.  The amazing team at the shelter removed the old splint and fur came away too.  They say that she never even complained.  That is her personality!!  She is fearless and trusting.  Yes, she chose us so we had no choice but to bring her home.  But what to name her??!!  My husband, again, solved the problem by designating her as the princess and thus the name Kate.  Here she is soon after she came to us.  Notice the orange fur on her right front paw where the damage had been.

Now I know many of you struggle with what to do about all that paper that comes in Stampin’ Up boxes with your lovely stamps.  Some of you have really creative ideas on crafty projects!!  Well, little Kate has another idea.  Apparently it is great for attacking and then the perfect location for a nap.

Of course, the paper is even better with a box!!  This box has become a part of my dining room decoration because I don’t have the heart to take it away.

She looks pretty pleased with herself, doesn’t she??!!  Notice the front paw is totally white now!  Wonderful what good food and lots of love will do!  Yep, she won the cat lottery and she knows it!

Thanks for stopping in today.  And thank you for all the support on the stamp drive.  See you again on Tuesday and Wednesday for this week’s challenges!

Freshly Made Sketches #46

Wow, where did the week go??!!  Well, I know where mine went…the summer schedule is in full swing at United Airlines and there is no rest for a reserve pilot!!  In fact, I am out again today for another trip.  Back to this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.

Our sketch this week is from Lesley Croghan of Always Playing with Paper.  Lots and lots of potential with this one!

With my lack of time to stamp, I decided to go with a tried and true color combination that uses some of the new products from the Holiday Catalog.  The snowflakes are from Snowflake Soiree and I think they are just beautiful!!  The sentiment is from the new More Merry Messages that is in the main catalog.  Along with the new stamps…Scalloped Tulle Ribbon.  I knew I would love this immediately but I didn’t know how much I would love it.  It is so awesome!!  I didn’t do anything that required work and it STILL adds so much to the card (it looks a little dark here but in person it adds such pretty texture).  I have all kinds of visions of bows and rosettes too.  I added some pearls to finish everything off.

My first Christmas card post of the year…get ready, there will be lots more!!  Today is the last day of my stamp drive so if you haven’t been able to join me yet, please just roll down and read the details.

Hope your week is great.  Given the fact that I am gone, I suspect I won’t have another card for at least a few days.  Thanks so much for dropping in today.  See you soon!!

Stamps:  Snowflake Soiree, More Merry Messages; Paper:  Naturals Ivory, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso; Ink:  Early Espresso; Accessories:  Big Shot, Snow Burst EF (retired), 3-1/2″ Scalloped Tulle Ribbon – Espresso, Basic Pearls

Moving Forward

Moving Forward published on 15 Comments on Moving Forward

*My thanks to the PPA design team for choosing this as a Pals Paper Artist Pick!*

I debated many names for this post but it seems that the name of the Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp says it all!  For so many, the battle with a child’s health issue is all about looking to the future — future research, future good health, future dreams!  Ronald McDonald House Charities supports the families so that they can support the sick/hospitalized child.  I am incredibly proud to be part of a company that supports this amazing charity.  Stampin’ Up gives proceeds from a designated stamp every year and has so far donated over $1 million.  During Convention this year, Stampin’ Up gave every demonstrator there a free copy of this stamp.  I knew then and there that I wanted to do something amazing to pay this gift forward…but what??!!

I have been following the progress of a local Warrenton girl, Sydney Davies, who is strong and amazing.  Her big brother Tyler was an assistant coach for my oldest son’s soccer team this year and I became familiar with this remarkable family.  Sydney was diagnosed just over one year ago with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and has been in the hospital almost every day since.  She is working very hard to be strong enough for a bone marrow transplant.  Her family recently went up to the Minnesota Children’s Hospital in hopes that she would get her transplant.  Sadly, it was not to be and she needs a higher white blood cell count for this to be possible.  So she has come home to Virginia.  I read in her latest Caring Bridge update that the doctors feel she is doing well enough to spend some time with family and friends, leaving the safety of the hospital.  In her mother’s words, they are taking “baby steps” and moving over to a Ronald McDonald House in Fairfax.  Sydney is in need of a miracle and for now RMHC is helping her and her family to continue to fight for that miracle.

I knew immediately what I wanted to do.  So I am running a “stamp drive”!!  I want to sell as many Moving Forward stamp sets as possible so that the profits go to this amazing charity.  Please let me be clear.  I am NOT looking to profit on this.  In order for that to happen I will donate any and all commissions from the sales of this stamp to Sydney’s Children’s Cancer Research Fund.  Additionally, if the orders made directly through me add up to a workshop ($150) then I will randomly select one of those who ordered as the hostess.  You can order this stamp via my DBWS (click on the Shop Online airplane on the sidebar) or through me directly.  I prefer the second method so that I can give someone a great hostess benefit but I will celebrate the sale either way.  You can comment on this post, leaving your e-mail, and I will get back to you or you can email me directly at jentimko@gmail.com.  I’d like to run this stamp drive for one week so please contact me or order as soon as possible (but no later than August 1st).  If you don’t feel the need for this set and still want to help, I would love it if you donated directly to Sydney’s fund at the link above!!

Of course the card above uses this fun set.  How sweet is this little tricycle?  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color it in Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade and Basic Gray.  Then I added some Pumpkin Pie flowers from the set for the basket.  I stamped a second basket and cut it out for some dimension.  The prints are from Summer Smooches DSP and I added some of the new 1/4″ Stitched Grograin Ribbon in Rich Razzleberry across the middle.  Some Bright Buttons finished off this fun sketch from Pals Paper Arts.

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  I look forward to ordering a lot of Moving Forward stamps for this great cause and sending this little card to the Davies family with our donation!

I’m back for a second post for the day with a new Freshly Made Sketches layout.  This awesome sketch is courtesy of Cindy Hall from Pretty Impact.  Great one, don’t you think?

I decided to use the stamp set Moving Forward.  This is the Ronald McDonald House Charities set for the year from Stampin’ Up and $3 of every set purchased goes straight to RMHC.  WOW!!  I love this blimp and inked it up as soon as I could on Monday morning.  I will say that it probably needs to be sanded a little (I find that is always best for crisp images on stamps with large flat surfaces) but I was too excited to play with it.  The sketch was flipped and I chose this Summer Smooches DSP print as my color inspiration.  The blimp was colored using Stampin’ Write Markers in Island Indigo, Real Red and Daffodil Delight.  A little White Baker’s Twine and a Real Red Button were perfect for the ribbon element and I added some Jewelry Tags that punched the words from the stamp.

This stamp was given to every demonstrator that was at Convention.  Cool, huh?  Please come back tomorrow to see some more information about this set and all it can do for families.

Until then, make sure you go see the design team’s fabulous cards!  Hope your day is wonderful!

SUOC 50 – Buttons and Brads

The theme for this week’s SUO Challenge should be perfect for just about everyone!! Buttons and Brads!  I love them and I know you do too!  The team has shown so many ways to use these wonderful accessories and I can’t wait to see what you create.

Remember how I told you I got A LOT of free stuff at Convention??  Well, this card uses some of it.  Because this was my first time at Convention, I was invited to a “First Timers Lunch”.  When we got there, they gave us the Storytime DSP.  How fun is that??!!  I cut a rectangle for the tag and then used the Adorning Accents Edgelit to cut the curve on the top and a Corner Rounder Punch for the bottom.  The image is actually cut straight from the DSP too…no stamping or coloring on my part!  How fun and easy!  I added some Basic Gray buttons tied with Linen Thread and the Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon.

This sketch is courtesy of Retro Sketches #21.  Fun isn’t it??!!  So glad I got to play this week.  I’m so glad you stopped in and I’ll see you again in just a bit since this is the first of two posts for today (due to the SUOC Convention delay).  Have a great day!
