Oh do we have a fun sketch for you this week at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch designer is Linda Callahan and she has created one that is super versatile.
I went with a super clean version of the sketch. Maybe a little too clean but I just could not get this set out of my head to use. It is called Botanical Borders from the Ink Blot Spot. I love the sweet little images in the set and the super usable sentiments too. I did some quick Copic Marker coloring and then added a few sequins.
Thanks for dropping in today. Just a reminder, I still have one of the mystery boxes available if you are interested. Check out the last post for details. Hope you have a great day!
Another week has flown by and back with a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. This fabulous version is courtesy of the amazing Jen Mitchell. Some fun layers to inspire you!
I had a VERY important birthday card to create and this was just what I needed. My youngest son turns 16 today! Oh my word, how can that be??!!! He is such a fun kid and I wanted a card that reflects that. Plus, we have an ongoing family joke around cake (based on an old video game) so this image was an easy choice. The image is from the Fancy Frosting set by Honey Bee Stamps. Super fun and so versatile for designing your cake. I stamped the basic cake, added the frosting layer and then cut it out with the coordinating dies. I colored with Copic Markers to coordinate with the Funfetti Paper Pack (also Honey Bee Stamps). I added some Rainbow Sherbet Confetti from Trinity Stamps as an extra cake decoration.
So happy you stopped in today. I hope to be back to more stamping soon. Just got the oldest off to college for his spring semester and I think I am getting back to a more normal household pattern. So until next time, have a wonderful week.
Hi everyone! Another week has flown by and I hope you are doing well. I’m the sketch hostess this week over at Freshly Made Sketches. There are lots of ways to go with this one but I had a specific stamp set in mind.
My friend Linda Callahan sent me this stamp set from Colorado Craft Company (Snowmen and Bunnies) and I finally got a chance to use it. This sketch is PERFECT for the images. I stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and got to coloring with my Copic Markers. The first thing I did was put a base layer on the dark blue background (B37) to help me judge the rest of the color depth.
I played with the concept of coloring “white” for the snowman. Using a base of my Toner Grays (T2, T1, T0), I added a pale purple to give it a little more of an icy depth. Pretty happy with the result and this larger image is the perfect place to play with shading. After I finished the coloring, I masked the border around the image and then splattered on some Gouache to mimic snow. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and pretty much sums up the weather we have been having in Virginia lately. I actually love snow (when I don’t have to drive or fly in it).
I hope you will come over and join the fun this week. Our team has created beautiful projects, as always, so make sure to leave them some love. Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!
Happy middle of the week! Time for a new Freshly Made Sketches challenge and we have a fun one designed by the lovely Amy O’Neill. I think you will like the sketch too.
As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use the new Bear Ware Grand Tour stamp set by Ellen Hutson. This set is just so cute!! I lined up the sentiments on a block and just stamped them on the angle. A fun way to use little sentiments, don’t you think? Then I did some quick Copic coloring on the bear and a few of the elements.
After some debate, I cut the panel down a little and put it on a colored base to help it pop a bit. I think it was the right choice. And that’s it. Easy and fun!
Glad you stopped by today. Hope the rest of your week is good and I’ll see you Friday.
Happy World Card Making Day! Really. It is a thing. And it makes me super happy! I was lucky enough to be invited to help share some of the new Essentials by Ellen product line by Ellen Hutson and they are really fun. You’ll see that they were practically made for me!
As soon as I saw these products I knew exactly what card I was going to make. I wanted our little friend to be all ready to go on the adventures they have missed out on over the last year or two. Passport – check. Bag packed – check. Globe to spin for deciding – check. Ready to go! This adorable set is called the Bear Ware Grand Tour and comes with coordinating dies. I joined it with the new Planet Surface dies.
The bear is super cute, of course, but it is all the extra elements that really make the set. You can see the iconic buildings and there are fun details that go with each along with sentiments. I chose a few and used them like a banner.
Try not to fall over but I actually created a video to go with this card. I know, it is has been over a year since I made one. I thought it would be more fun to show you how I made this so hop over to check it out. I kept the video short and I’d love your feedback on it.
I hope you enjoy this release and have some time to craft today. Below I have listed links to the new release (the first one should take you to the shopping page). These are affiliate links which help me but have no additional cost to you. Have a great weekend!
When I looked at the inspiration photo, I fell in love with the colors! And then I saw Jen Mitchell’s sketch and I knew just what to do. I pulled out the Meadow Motifs Stamp Set and chose two of the floral sprays. To match the sketch I put the smaller one in the bottom right corner on Desert Storm card stock. Then I pulled out some fall colored Copic Markers in yellows, oranges and browns.
I love how those colors change the entire feel of the images! And it made me so very happy. For a sentiment, I reached to the Floral Envie Stamp Set. This sentiment is really beautiful and I thought it provided just the right balance for the card. I hope you enjoy this combination and will come play along!
Last week I promised a sneak peek week from Honey Bee Stamps. Well, Covid strikes again and there was a delay in shipping the release to the company. In order to make sure customers were able to order, the peeks were delayed. But they are scheduled to start this Friday. I cannot wait to share! Until then, I hope you have some time to craft.
Sorry for a bit of silence over the last couple of weeks. Despite my denial and trying to stop time, it is upon me. Graduation of my oldest! Oh my, this mom’s heart is struggling. I’m prouder than I can put into words. This kid is amazing and is going to change the world. But the transition is coming. He is ready, I am not. But this week, the celebration begins.
In the ultimate compliment, my son asked me to make some cards for his close friends. This is one of my designs for him. I used the Cap and Gown Stamp Set from Honey Bee Stamps as my starting point. The school colors are red and white so that was easily decided. I stamped one of the caps and the diploma from the set and did some Copic Marker coloring. The coordinating Honey Cuts dies make it easy to cut the elements out.
Let’s face it, this sentiment is more appropriate than ever this year. My senior and his friends have conquered all the pandemic “hassles” along with the normal ones. Again, the Honey Cuts allow for cutting out the sentiment and layering. The red paper is one of the patterned prints from the Love Letters Paper Pad. The grid print is from the Birthday Bash Paper Pad.
I’m excited for the next week. I’m also terrified. But my son is extraordinary and he is ready. Thanks so much for stopping in today. See you soon!
Welcome to the Let’s Celebrate Sneak Peeks from Honey Bee Stamps. And truly, it is something to celebrate! The release will go live TONIGHT after the release party on IG and FB that starts at 8p Central. Come join us for the release party and then join the celebration!
Let’s face it, when your company is names Honey Bee Stamps, you make the cutest bees and honey possible! I was just insanely excited to get this Just BEEcause stamp set and coordinating Honey Cuts. There are SOOOO many elements and ways to use the set. Details galore! I stamped the images in the new Intense Black Ink. Then I colored the images with Copic Markers.
Once I had all the elements colored, I started playing with my layout. I used the new Honey Comb Dies to create the layering honeycombs. These are super cool dies because they both cut out the coordinating stamp images or can combine to cut this little trio of honeycombs. I added a sentiment from the Just BEEcause set directly to the base and then added all the elements.
Finally, I added a touch of sparkle with some Wink of Stella on the bees wings. I had such fun playing with the possibilities of this set and I’m quite certain you’ll be seeing more of it from me.
Thanks for joining me for these sneak peeks. I hope you will join in on the IG or FB party. I would be grateful if you would consider shopping with me via my links in this post. See you soon!
Hi everyone! I’m so happy to be sharing a project I created for the Honey Bee Designs Social Media Team. I suspect right now everyone is ready for a touch of spring and this seemed the perfect way to share some.
I used the Spring Joy Bouquet stamp set and coordinating dies for the pretty bouquet. I love tulips so much and this lovely image designed by the amazing Emily Midgett was wonderful to color. I added the Floral Bouquet Wrap Die that cut out some tissue paper for the flowers and tied it up with some ribbon from my stash.
To add a little additional dimension, I used one of the Quatrefoil Layers Stencil with Speckled Egg Distress Ink. Such a quick and easy way to add so much to a card!
Short and sweet! Training is moving along well and I’m hoping to be done with this part of it on Monday. I’m in Denver though, so the big snow event could impact our training center. I’ll be back on Monday for one more card that I made before leaving. Until then, have a wonderful weekend!
I’m thrilled to be able to offer you inspiration forGina K Designs‘ new release! It goes live tonight (when this post goes up) so you can head right over to see all the amazing products.
For today, I’ll be showing you Beautiful Birds. And the title says it all. The images are incredible and were designed by Melanie Muenchinger.
I’m sure Melanie had a specific bird in mind when she drew this but I decided it was a bluebird. Because I love them. The image shading is great for showing where colors go and makes it fun to color. I thought my bluebird would be perfect on a cherry tree (I “might” be looking towards spring) so I colored the branch that way and added another branch and leaves from the set too.
After splattering the Kraft card stock with some distress ink, I cut a vellum circle as a layer for the bird. All of the sentiments in the set are beautiful but this one called out to me. And how pretty is the combination of script and print on the fonts?
I hope you enjoy this showcase of the Beautiful Birds set. Again, the shopping is live and I’d very much appreciate you shopping with me here: Shop at Gina K Designs
