Triangle Tag

Triangle Tag published on 6 Comments on Triangle Tag

I knew when I got the Perfect Pennants Die for my Big Shot that I was going to love it!  This little tag is just one of the reasons!!  Making this is really easy and I love that it is different.  To make it I started with my die and cut the large and medium triangles out of Basic Black card stock.  I then cut another two large triangles out of the Turquoise and Real Red DSPs.  Finally, I cut two of the small triangles out of Whisper White.  Cut 1/4″ off the bottom of both DSP triangles to make them layer properly (yes, it is that simple!!).  I inked up the pennant stamp using my Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped it on one of the Whisper White triangles.  Using my 1″ Circle Punch, I created a balloon and then popped it up on a Dimensional.  For the words, I inked only part of the sentiment with my marker.

Next, you attach the Real Red DSP to one of the large triangles.  Turn the triangle face down and score like shown in the picture.

**  NOTE:  I scored this way because I like to fold toward the “valley” of the score.

Once scored, turn it back over and put Sticky Strip in the small triangle.  Attach it to the front triangle.  Finish decorating the front if you haven’t already.

Finally, add your little triangles to the inside.  I had to cut them down just a little to make them layer correctly.  I pierced a hole in the top of the tag and attached it to the bag using black thread (non-SU).  I used this same thread as a little bow for the balloon.

I hope you like this project!  Truly, it takes longer to read about it than it does to make!!

Thanks for dropping in today.  Please come back Wednesday for some of the specifics on my MDS Shadow Box project from the hop.  Have a great day!!

Stamp:  Up, Up and Away; Paper:  Brights Designer Paper Pack, Basic Black, Whisper White; Ink:  Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black; Accessories:  Big Shot, Perfect Pennants Die, 1″ Circle Punch, Sticky Strip, Dimensionals

Stampin’ Addicts New Catalog Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Addicts New Catalog Mega Hop!!!  We are celebrating the new Stampin’ Up 2011-12 Catalog Stampin’ Addicts style!  If you just hopped over from Heidi’s blog, RunningwScissorsStamper, I know you have been blown away by her projects with Under the Big Top.  That three ring circus card…fantastic!!  She never ceases to amaze me with her creativity!  I will continue the Big Top Product Suite trend with Up, Up and Away.  Words cannot describe how thrilled I am with this set!!

When I first saw this set, I had a vision of vintage balloons!  Then I saw the unbelievable beautiful Well Worn DSP and I knew that they had to be combined.  I stamped the striped balloon image on the River Rock print and cut it out.  The other balloon comes from stamping on the reverse side of the paper with the solid balloon image and then cutting it out.  I used my Color Spritzer Tool to add a little splatter of River Rock ink on the image panel and the new Soft Suede Taffeta is put together with Linen Thread and an Antique Brad.  This is a card for a college graduation and I love it!

I love the colors on in the Big Top Product Suite (p. 62) and wanted to make a fun and quick project with them.  This is a little triangle gift tag made with my new Perfect Pennants Die for the Big Shot.  I used my 1″ circle punch to create a party balloon and “to you” is inked with a Stampin’ Write Marker.  The inside uses the remainder of the sentiment (“happy birthday”).  This is an easy tag to make and I will provide the instructions next week.

If you have ever worked with Stampin’ Up’s Designer Series Papers, you already know that they are amazing.  I really liked the Berry Blossoms Product Suite in the catalog (p.99) but when I opened the paper in person…WOW!!  This Calypso Coral pattern practically asked to be used with Up, Up and Away and the Early Espresso pattern mimics the polka dots in the balloon.  I used one of the scalloped circles from the Perfect Pennant Die as my frame and the lovely Ruffled Ribbon to add more texture.  This classic layout gets a little wow factor from the banner attached with the Early Espresso Baker’s Twine.

My final project is probably the one that makes me the happiest!!  This is a My Digital Studio creation made just for my youngest son’s room.  As you can see, his walls are Daffodil Delight so what better than the Big Top Birthday Embellishments Download as a place to start?  I used the digital Up, Up and Away to create the balloons.  The hardest part of this project was taking a picture that shows how cute it is!  I will be back with more specifics on this next week, too!

Clearly, flying is near and dear to my heart and this set has really inspired me!  I hope that you feel just as inspired to make fabulous projects with it!

Now off to your next stop on the hop.  Cindy over at Heart’s Delight Cards has some super projects made with Pennant Parade.  Just wait until you see her golf card, and her Christmas card, and….  Make sure you come back next week for more specifics on my projects.  If you have any questions you really want answered, let me know in a comment.  Enjoy the hop!

Get Well Wishes

The team at SU Only Challenges is looking to brighten someone’s day.  As card makers, we have the opportunity to make someone know they are loved with a beautiful handmade creation.  For the next two weeks we are challenging you to show us your Get Well cards.  Show us your elegant wonders or show us your humor…we love them all!

I chose the beautiful new hostess set Faith in Nature as the basis for my card today.  Wow, do I love this set!!  You can only get it by hostessing so get that workshop scheduled as soon as you can!  I inked my flower stamp with Versamark and then with an Early Espresso ink pad, stamping it on Naturals Ivory paper.  I quickly heat embossed it with with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my Heat Tool.  This allows easy watercoloring and no ink smearing!  I colored the flower with Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy and a touch of Night of Navy ink and then stamped on a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  The DSP layer is from the Well Worn DSP set.  It is hard to see but I embossed the Early Espresso layer with my Big Shot and the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plate (diamond pattern).  Finally, I spritzed some water on some Crumb Cake Seam Binding, crumpled it up to let it dry and tied it into a bow.  A Basic Pearl is the finishing touch for the flower.  This fabulous sketch is courtesy of Inkspirations!

The rest of the team at SU Only Challenges has made some amazing cards so make sure you go take a look (and leave them some love on their blogs)!  I can’t wait to see what you make.

I’ll take a little break tomorrow and will be back Thursday for the ColorLab and on Friday with a new catalog blog hop…you don’t want to miss it!  Hope your day is great!

Stamps:  Faith in Nature, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Well Worn DSP, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Naturals Ivory; Ink:  Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy, Night of Navy, Early Espresso, Versamark; Accessories:  Blender Pen, Heat Tool, Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Big Shot, Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates, Crumb Cake Seam Binding, Dimensionals

What can be better than a new stamp set and coordinating Designer Series Paper??!!  An Open House where you get to use the stamp set and the beautiful paper!!  Sorry I was mostly absent last week.  I have been busy creating for all kinds of things THIS week.  First of all, I have an Open House to celebrate the new catalog tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and evening.  If you live in the Northern VA area and would like to take a trip to Warrenton to see some new catty products, just let me know!  I can’t wait to show my local stampers some of the fun things I have been creating.  Don’t worry, I’ll be showing them here later this week!

Here is our Make-n-take for the Open House.  Fruit & Flowers is already becoming an awesome go-to set.  Just look at how fun (and quick) this little card is.  The Berry Blossoms DSP is fantastic…I always find DSPs even better in person!  And of course, I just “had” to tie on a little of the lovely Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon.  Can’t wait to order it in all the colors for my ribbon share!  I thought this was a perfect card for the Creative Crew Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  This month’s challenge was to use the new In Colors and our favorite new products!

I’m posting this a day early because tomorrow I’ll be back with the latest SU Only Challenge.  Of course the card uses more new catalog stamps and DSP!  On Thursday I will have my ColorLab Challenge card, as always.  Finally (and please make plans to come back), I am in a Stampin’ Addicts New Catalog Blog Hop starting on Friday.  My projects are done and I can barely wait to show you all the fun things I have done with my set.  So now you see why I was absent last week!

Thanks for stopping in today.  See you tomorrow!

Take a look at the fabulous colors for this week’s challenge over at the ColorLab!  We continue New Colorpalooza with the addition of Island Indigo to this week’s group.  It is easy to deduce that I really love Baja Breeze and just wait until you see it with Island Indigo.  Wow!  I have to admit that I wasn’t sure about the Rich Razzleberry but, as usual, it turned out to be an awesome combination!

I pulled out my Brights Designer Paper Pack and chose two Rich Razzleberry designs.  My new Fruit & Flowers stamp set was calling out for ink and I thought this flower would be fun.  Love that it fits perfectly in the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch!!  I inked it with the challenge colors Stampin’ Write markers and then added a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  The scallop circle is from the Perfect Pennant die (yes, you can expect to keep seeing these).  I tied on some Baja Breeze Seam Binding that has a bow cinched with a Razzleberry button to finish it off.

Don’t forget that I am running a ribbon share and this fabulous ribbon is in Selection 2.  More can be found in yesterday’s post.  The layout is my take on the Inkspirations Sketch Challenge this week.  Love this one (and all the cards the design team made)!

Wow, three posts in a row…and I haven’t even inked all my new stamps yet.  You can expect to see more next week with some of those!  Until then, I hope you have a fantastic weekend and thanks for dropping by!

Celebrating the kids!

Celebrating the kids! published on 8 Comments on Celebrating the kids!

Over at SU Only Challenges, we are celebrating the kids!  So whether it is for the kids or for someone who is a kid at heart, we can’t wait to see what you make this week!  I have been busily making things with my NEW sets and today is the first reveal.

One of the first sets that called out to me from the new Stampin’ Up catalog was Patterned Party.  I am forever making birthday cards for the boys’ friends and this set has so much versatility!  I combined it with the new 2011-13 In Colors to make a fun card.  Calypso Coral, Island Indigo and Lucky Limeade were used to color the balloons and then I re-inked the Calypso Coral balloons to re-stamp them.  I cut those out and popped them up on Dimensionals.  Now to the ribbon.  I think you all know that I love a pretty ribbon.  Yep, pretty much can’t resist one.  This Ruffled Ribbon (available in the new In Colors) is even better that I anticipated!  It ties beautifully and adds so much dimension.  Adding more colors to my next order!!  The Creative Crew over at Splitcoaststampers is celebrating the new In Colors and stamps so I am posting this there too.

I hope you like this fun card!  I’ll be featuring a card tomorrow using one of the new hostess sets (and another new ribbon) so make sure you stop back by!  Don’t forget that you have about 2 weeks to participate in the SUO Challenge so all of you demonstrators going to Convention in Salt Lake City will still have time to play next week.  See you tomorrow!

Stamps:  Patterned Party, Up, Up and Away; Paper:  Calypso Coral, Whisper White; Ink:  In Color Stampin’ Write Marker Pack (Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade), Basic Gray; Accessories:  Calypso Coral 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Dimensionals

All products are Stampin’ Up!

Hooray for the Red, White and Blue!!  Okay, in this case we have Red, Blue and Blue (with a little Naturals Ivory) but you get the point.  The ColorLab Challenge is timely, as usual…ready for the Independence Day holiday here in the U.S.  The stampers over at Stampin’ Royalty are celebrating their patriotism and this color selection fit right in for me.

You may have noticed that pinwheels are showing up everywhere so I decided to give it a try.  I took some Not Quite Navy card stock and sponged on Night of Navy ink to make it pop.  The DSP is from the retiring Jolly Holiday paper – one last showing!  You’ll notice that I threaded a thin strip through the buttons too.  Today is the LAST DAY to order any retiring items so don’t put it off any longer!!  The layout comes from the Fall-to Layout Challenge.

I hope you are ready for the new catalog to launch…my order is standing by (and getting longer).  With any luck, you’ll start seeing cards with some new products in week or so!  Off for some summer fun with the kids today!  Have a great rest of your week!

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary published on 9 Comments on Happy Anniversary

This week’s theme over at SU Only Challenges is Summer Anniversaries.  As I mentioned in the last challenge, I was married in June and just celebrated my 10th Anniversary.  Today’s card is the one I made for my husband.

If you are already a proud owner of the new 2011-12 Idea Book & Catalog, this technique may look familiar to you (p. 181).  If you don’t have one yet, contact your demonstrator as soon as you can to get one!!  If you don’t have a demonstrator, I will be happy to help you.  This is an excellent example of why the book is as much for ideas as it is for showcasing new products!  I started with Crumb Cake card stock and embossed it with my Big Shot and the Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder.  Then, using my Aquapainter, I watercolored with Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke ink (from the top of the ink pads).  It was so fast and I LOVE the results!  I distressed and tore the layer to show some Always Artichoke Textured Card Stock beneath.  The Crumb Cake Seam Binding was crumpled and then tied using a Neutrals Button and Linen Thread.  I created my own tag with a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Sorry I was absent last week from much posting, our family was on vacation at the beach and stamping just didn’t fit in (too much wave jumping and boogie boarding to do!!).  I hope to get back in the groove a bit this week.  At a minimum, I will be back on Thursday with another ColorLab Challenge.  Until then, I hope you are enjoying your summer too!

Stamp:  Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke (Smooth and Textured); Ink:  Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze; Accessories:  Big Shot, Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder, Crumb Cake Seam Binding, Linen Thread, Neutrals Designer Buttons, Aquapainter

SU Only Challenge 21 – Weddings

SU Only Challenge 21 – Weddings published on 8 Comments on SU Only Challenge 21 – Weddings

I love June weddings (in fact, I had one!) so this is such a wonderful time to make wedding cards.  For the next two weeks at SU Only Challenges, we want to see your wedding themed cards.

Conveniently enough, we have some friends that just got married and I needed this one!  Her dress was vintage inspired so I wanted to have that feel.  I struggle with pure vintage but I think this captures it pretty well.  I turned to my Elements of Style stamp and inked it in Crumb Cake.  The same in for the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I then took some wrapping tissue paper and ran it through my Big Shot with the Fun Flowers Die.  I sponged the tissue flowers with Soft Suede ink (lightly), crumpled them up and the put them together with an Antique Brad.  Next I took some Crumb Cake Seam Binding and crumpled it up too.  I tied a bow and kept the long tail a little scrunched using some Sticky Strip behind it.  The back panel used the Big Shot again with the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder on Whisper White.  Finally, the image panel was popped up on Dimensionals.

This is one of two posts today since I am also participating in a Flag Day Giveaway.  Roll down for more details.  I’ll be back on Thursday with another ColorLab Challenge.  Until then, hope you have a great week!!

Stamps:  Elements of Style, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Crumb Cake, Whisper White; Ink:  Crumb Cake, Soft Suede; Accessories:  Big Shot, Fun Flowers Die, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder, Antique Brads, Sticky Strip, Dimensionals, Wrapping Tissue Paper

SUOC20 – All about Dad

SUOC20 – All about Dad published on 5 Comments on SUOC20 – All about Dad

For the next two weeks at SU Only Challenges, it is all about Dad!  In my house Dad (and Mom) are all about airplanes so my Plane & Simple set was the obvious choice.  It wasn’t carried over from the Occasions Mini so isn’t available right now but sometimes a set just has to be used!!  I also pulled out some retired DSP, Deck the Halls, left over from the Holiday Mini.  The First Edition DSP was carried over, though, and is still available.  I am working to use up some left over papers to get ready for the new catalog launch coming on July 1st.  Tomorrow, the Last Chance lists will be available so be sure to check back to hear more about what is retiring!  The sketch for today’s card comes from the Inkspirations Challenge and it is a fun one.  I went for a distressed look and used Early Espresso ink for stamping and sponging.  Thank goodness my husband never looks at my blog so this should still be a surprise for him.

I can’t wait to see all the fabulous Father’s Day cards you will make over the next two weeks.  Make sure to link your SU Only creations back to the challenge!  Don’t forget to go see the fabulous projects from the rest of the design team…more amazing stamping!

I’ll be back tomorrow with retiring product information and back Thursday with another ColorLab Challenge.  Have a great Tuesday!
