The Card Concept #63

Jen Timko - CC63 - Poinsettia GreetingsToday is a two post Wednesday and this is my first card for the day.  I’m so excited to share the inspiration from The Card Concept for our latest challenge.  As I was looking at the beautiful details of that fireplace, I found that the colors and the patterns started to jump out at me and so an idea was born.

I think this flower from Poinsettia (Simon Says Stamp) is simply wonderful to color.  I used it with Copics last week but decided to try it with Zig Clean Color Markers for this challenge.  I thought the watercolor feel was more in line with the country vibe of the photo.  I stamped the flower using Versafine Onyx Black and then masked it to add the leaf.  The paper is Fabriano Watercolor Paper.  The sentiments from the same stamp set worked perfectly for this so I inked up this combination with Versafine again and used my Misti to make sure my stamping was right.  I always use my Misti when I have colored the image (because…well, you know why).  I used the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Dies to add a bit more detail when I cut the image panel down to size.  Now for the background.  I created a card base using this great pattern from Under the Tree DSP (SU ret).  Yep, the whole card base.  Because the other side (now the inside) is a Kraft pattern with little stars.  I love the result!!  Finally, I pulled some sequins out and started to mix and match. These happen to all be from Paper Pumpkin kits.

Make sure you check my second post for Freshly Made Sketches too.  I am still recovering from our Thanksgiving adventures but the fun was worth all the traveling.  Hope you have a great week!  See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #264

Jen Timko - FMS264 - Christmas PoinsettiaHappy Wednesday to you!  For those of you in the US, I’m sure you are preparing for Thanksgiving!  And for your holiday crafting time, we have a lovely sketch for you from Freshly Made Sketches.  The incredible Karren Johnson has a winning sketch that is sure to spark your creativity.  Perfect for fast cards or those that require a bit more time!

I opted for the “a bit more time” choice but only because I had colored these flowers last week.  I took some stamped images and my Copics on a trip with me and took a bit of time just to color for The 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I used two of the poinsettias and some of the leaves from the Poinsettia stamp set (Simon Says Stamp) to create this lovely flower.  The set comes with coordinating dies but I chose to fussy cut these instead.  I used a card base from an old holiday kit and then cut some Thick Whisper White with my Stitched Rectangles Dies (SSS).  The sentiment is from WPlus9’s Be Merry set.  I just LOVE this sentiment and the fonts!!  I added some little pearls to finish and add a little balance without detracting from this flower.

If you are traveling this weekend, I wish you a safe trip and no delays!  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you soon!

The Card Concept #61

cc61-lovely-dayWe have a beautiful inspiration piece over at The Card Concept this week and it was hard for me to narrow down which elements I wanted to use.  No surprise, the team has created some really pretty projects and you are going to have fun with this one!

I chose to use one of my favorite flowers from the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set.  I stamped on Canson Watercolor paper using WPlus9 Black Dye Ink and then colored using Tim Holtz Distress ink in Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry.  The pretty mint typewrite inspired the Mint Macaron card base.  I cut image layer using Stitched Rectangled from Simon Says Stamp.  The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and comes from the Lovely set by Ellen Hutson (Essentials by Ellen).  Finally the little details.  I added some lace trim and gold thread (hard to see in the picture) to keep with the sketch from this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch.  I also colored this for Kathy Racoosin’s Thirty Day Coloring Challenge….a great way to motivate yourself to color just a little every day!

Just a reminder that this is my second post of the day.  Please check my card for Freshly Made Sketches as well. I hope you enjoy this and that you are having a great week.  See you soon!

fms254-lovely-floralsIt seems that I have a theme going this week.  But sometimes when stuff is out on the craft table, it cries out to be used more than once!  We have this super sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week from our resident queen of layers and fussy cutting, Narelle.  And while she gave us layers, she certainly allowed for some great ways to use the sketch.

I immediately thought of washi tape for the vertical pieces and thought this Floral Boutique Washi Tape was fantastic for the job.  I LOVE those prints!!  And frankly, the tape did the vast majority of the work.  I have the new Essentials by Ellen (Ellen Hutson) set called Lovely that was designed by Julie Ebersole and it is a seriously great word set.  I’ll be continuing to use it for a while so just plan for that, haha!  Isn’t this one great?!!  It is perfect for so many people I know!!  I cut it out with a Stitched Circle and added the little flower from the Flourish Thinlets set that coordinates with the tape.  Nothing too complicated but what a great sketch for another busy day.  I got this one done so fast that I had time for a second.  That almost never happens!!

Hope you enjoy this one.  Hop on over to see the gorgeous variations presented by the team.  Time well spent for sure!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

sip65-hello-with-a-flourishThis week at Stamp Ink Paper, we have a monochromatic challenge for you.  I always love those and knew right away  that I was going to pull out the extraordinary Floral Boutique DSP and the coordinating suite.  Wow, am I glad I did!!

I love, love, love this print.  I know it is just polka dots but they are really awesome polka dots, don’t you think?  I cut it out with my Stitched Rectangles dies and started playing with different elements.  I had not used a doily in forever and thought it was a nice touch with the pattern.  And how could I not used these awesome flowers from the Flourish Thinlits?  The delicate design of these really make them beautiful on so many things.  To add a sentiment, I thought it best to stamp onto vellum so that it didn’t distract from the pretty flowers.  I stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The flowers looked like they needed a little bling so I added some Basic Pearls for their centers.

SIP#64 -Botanical BirthdayI have something fun to share with you today!  I get to be a guest designer with the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge over the month of September!  Awesome!!  And lucky for me they started off “easy” (for me) with a Less Is More challenge this week.  Right up my alley!

Back in July I has colored this flower from Altenew’s Botanical Garden for the 30 day coloring challenge but never used it for anything.  But there it sat calling out to me.  I thought it would be perfect for this kind of challenge since a clean card allows focus on the flower itself.  Just a couple of colors of Zig Clean Color Pens can create such a beautiful look!  I love the wash on this flower!  The sentiment comes from a Paper Pumpkin Kit (love that font!!) and seemed just right to match the style of the image.  I cut the panel using my trust Stitched Rectangles dies and added a few Sparking Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  These have a touch of gray to them but also can take on colors behind them.  My favorite sequins!

14207753_10153802923923531_4274181975561845747_oI hope you will join in with us for this week’s challenge.  Super fun inspiration from the DT for sure!  Back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  Until then, I hope you have a great start of your week!

O Christmas Tree in Gold and Silver

O Christmas Tree in Gold and Silver published on 1 Comment on O Christmas Tree in Gold and Silver

DTGT16jentimko - O Christmas TreeThe most wonderful week of inspiration continues today over at Splitcoaststampers!!!  It is Dare To Get Dirty Challenges week and you will not even believe all that SCS has already done!  As a former “Dirty Girl”, I get to participate on the planning side and today is the day for my challenge!!  How do you get to see all this fabulousness??  You simply have to be a Fan Club Member at Splitcoaststampers.  Not only can you see all the details of the challenges, you can participate with present and past Dirty Girls.  My sample makers have created the most awesome inspiration.  I hope you will come check it out!  You can see all the cards for my challenge HERE.

I can’t share the details of the challenge but I think you will not be too surprised by my choice of challenge!  As I was making cards, I was actually inspired to make two variations.  Gold and Silver!  They used the new set from Concord and 9th called O Christmas Tree.  I am totally in love with the sentiments and the great trees!  As an extra bonus, Concord and 9th is celebrating their first birthday so I wanted to join in on their party!  I heat embossed the trees on Thick Whisper White card stock (in gold and silver) to put as the base of my shaker cards. For the gold version, I used Pop of Pink DSP’s gold confetti pattern and cut it using the Stitched Rectangle Dies (SSS).  The silver version uses a retired DSP.  I added sequins based on the color of embossing.  The gold is from SU’s Metallic Sequins and a retired holiday pack while the silver are the Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins.  Now for that bit of sparkle on the sides.  Remember back during Sale-a-bration when the Glitter Tape was one of the choices?  Yeah.  I HAD to have that and I got it with the holidays in mind.  It is so easy to use and it adds so much!!  I heat embossed the sentiments again and done!  Now…..which is your favorite??!!  My house is split on their decision (which is why I posted both). The challenges this week really are amazing and your need to come check out the gallery!!  I hope you will go over and check out my challenge and join in!!  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you soon!

One of a Kind

One of a Kind published on 2 Comments on One of a Kind

One of a KindI hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  I had some time to stamp during the week and wanted to share this fun little card with you.  I feel like sometimes I get so caught up in techniques and supplies and all the shiny things in stamping that I forget the basics of just stamps and ink.  So today, that is what I’m sharing with you.  A basic and fun card that I made just because it made me happy.

I got this little One of a Kind stamp set from Altenew awhile ago because I simply love the size and style of the flower.  Also, because I feel like this sentiment is timely and perfect for so many things.  After all, we are each one of a kind aren’t we?  It is good to celebrate that!!!  I inked up this little flower using the Colorbox 4-color ink box in the Fall palette.  The ink box is kind of unique in that it has four colors in one box that are meant to go together.  I inked the top of the flower in the purple and the bottom in the green from the box and stamped onto watercolor paper.  Then I pulled some ink with my Zig Brush2O and touched in a little more color.  The sentiment was stamped in the blue from the box.  I cut it out with a stitched rectangle and put it on a Night of Navy base.  Simple, clean and sweet.

I hope you will find some time today to create something because it makes you happy.  You deserve it!  Take care of you because you are unique, special and one of a kind!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

CC56 - Be-you-tifulToday’s challenges over at The Card Concept is going to make you jump for joy!  The inspiration image is so pretty!!  It won’t take long for you to see how I got to this card, for sure!

So first, I knew that I had to use a peony.  This pretty one from You’ve Got This is perfect for the job!  I simply stamped in Versamark and then embossed using Gold embossing powder to mimic the gold in the image.  The flower was colored using Zig Markers.  Next I decided to use my Clarity Stencil Brushes to apply some Soft Sky ink to a Thick Whisper White panel.  The brushes make the ink go on so beautifully!!  I cut that colored panel plus a sentiment panel using Stitched Rectangle Dies and then added a gold embossed sentiment from the Flower Patch set.  Some sequins from an old Paper Pumpkin went so perfectly with this that I had to use them!

56Ok, this is my Clean and Graphic take on the inspiration piece this week!  If you missed it, I also have a Freshly Made Sketches card up today in the post below.  (A reminder that every other Wednesday I will have two posts)  The team over at The Card Concept has a widely varied and gorgeous set of cards to get you on your way!  I hope you will join us!
