I’m here with another ColorLab Challenge card and we have another fabulous group of colors!  I have a confession, I actually had another project made with these colors that I liked a lot more.  It was a set of cards boxed up as a teacher gift.  The problem…in my chaos to get out the door with the gifts, I forgot to take pictures!  ARGHHHH!!  I guess some days are just like that.

So I got home and pulled out the sketch from Splitcoaststampers SC336 to get to work.  I have only a few scraps of the Greenhouse Gala paper left but will find a use for every piece.  I have loved that paper!!  If you are a fan of Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz, make sure you get it before it is gone (it is retiring)!  I inked up the coordinating flower from Friends Never Fade, stamped it and cut it out.  The quote is from a retired hostess set, Of the Earth.  Hostess sets really are the gift that keep on giving!  This card is for a teacher and I can think of no better phrase to thank her!

Since I allowed other gift card sets out the door without pictures too, I’ll have a little less to show you tomorrow.  Fortunately, there is still one here!  Don’t forget to check out the projects from the rest of the design team!  See you tomorrow!

Stamps:  Friends Never Fade, Of the Earth (retired, hostess); Paper:  Greenhouse Gala, Daffodil Delight, Concord Crush;  Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Concord Crush; Accessories:  Dimensionals, Stamp-a-ma-jig

It is that time of the Stampin’ Up year…time to use up the retiring items and make way for new things!!  I just got my new catalog yesterday and I am here to tell you there are LOTS of fabulous new things!!!

I needed a bunch of thank you notes for my son’s birthday and it was the perfect time to use up some old DSP.  I pulled out the Jolly Holiday DSP and chose two different Cherry Cobbler designs.  Hard to pick which I like best.  The little airplane is from an old retired set called Toy Box and I still love it for cards like this!  My sketch is based on the Stampin’ 411 SSC206 although I did leave out the sentiment part (and turned it into a square).

I am working busily since this is the last week of school for my boys.  So many projects, so little time!!  I hope your week is going well too.  I’ll be back Thursday with a new ColorLab Challenge and later in the week with teacher gift card sets.  See you soon!

This week’s ColorLab Challenge colors are courtesy of…..me!  The design team chose colors for the whole month and this is what I came up with.  I knew this palette would be awesome for Father’s Day cards and now is the time to get working on them!!  Of course the Last Chance lists came out yesterday (see yesterday’s post for more information) and that inspired me to pull out the Father’s Day stamp from All Holidays, one of the retiring sets.

This is one of those word stamps that provides focal point and sentiment all in one.  Then, I just let some accessories do the rest of the work.  The Early Espresso Baker’s Twine was cinched by tying on a Regals button (technically Cajun Craze but with the Not Quite Navy behind it, it goes perfectly).  The Not Quite Navy panel was embossed using my Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I used the layout from the Fall-to Layout 142.

I can’t wait for you to see what the rest of the team has created with these colors and I look forward to seeing your creations too!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you again soon!

For the next two weeks at SU Only Challenges, it is all about Dad!  In my house Dad (and Mom) are all about airplanes so my Plane & Simple set was the obvious choice.  It wasn’t carried over from the Occasions Mini so isn’t available right now but sometimes a set just has to be used!!  I also pulled out some retired DSP, Deck the Halls, left over from the Holiday Mini.  The First Edition DSP was carried over, though, and is still available.  I am working to use up some left over papers to get ready for the new catalog launch coming on July 1st.  Tomorrow, the Last Chance lists will be available so be sure to check back to hear more about what is retiring!  The sketch for today’s card comes from the Inkspirations Challenge and it is a fun one.  I went for a distressed look and used Early Espresso ink for stamping and sponging.  Thank goodness my husband never looks at my blog so this should still be a surprise for him.

I can’t wait to see all the fabulous Father’s Day cards you will make over the next two weeks.  Make sure to link your SU Only creations back to the challenge!  Don’t forget to go see the fabulous projects from the rest of the design team…more amazing stamping!

I’ll be back tomorrow with retiring product information and back Thursday with another ColorLab Challenge.  Have a great Tuesday!

Take time to remember

I want to wish you a very happy and safe Memorial Day!  One of the best things we can do as card makers is pay forward with our talents and creativity.  One of the best places we can pay forward is Operation Write Home!

They have started a challenge to collect cards during the month of June.  Our deployed heroes are requesting cards to send home.  What better way to say thank you than to send them some of your beautiful cards??!!  All of the information is on their website.  Just click the logo above to link right to the page.

This is one of the cards I will be sending in to Operation Write Home to help fill the requests.  I pulled out my Vintage Vogue set (one of my favorites) to make this.  The layout is basic but the pearls and the popped up flowers give it a special feel.  The background paper is from the Elegant Soiree DSP pack and is one of my favorite prints!  This is one of those cards that just came together quickly…perfect for donating!  If you have lots of cards to send, the team at OWH will be very happy but they will be just as happy to get just a few special creations that are made from the heart.  Again, you can read about shipping details (envelopes, tucking, no glitter) at the OWH site.

I am entering this in The Paper Players Challenge this week since their theme is Anything Goes.

I hope that your weekend is wonderful.  Please be safe and take time to remember our brave heroes!

Just because…

Just because… published on 9 Comments on Just because…

I feel like lately every card I make has had a purpose, either a class or a design team card.  Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to stamp “just because” and I really needed it!  I had some time this week to search around some of my favorite sites and I found this great layout from Stampin’ Royalty:

In knew it was perfect for just playing around.  I needed a change of color palette so I pulled out my Greenhouse Gala DSP and found just the right print.

I love these flowers and they really demand to be the focal point of a card.  This layout really highlights the DSP (although a stamped panel would be beautiful too).  I took the bow and words off center which seemed to balance the print better.  Not sure why, but making this card made me really happy.  It came together quickly and I love the pop of Pumpkin Pie.

I hope you get some “just because” stamping time soon!  Thanks for stopping in today.  I’m looking forward to a busy weekend…soccer, an 8 year old birthday party and my mom in town!  Hope your Memorial Day weekend is happy and safe.  Don’t forget to remember this weekend!  I’m thankful for those who serve and those who have sacrificed.

Imagine my joy when I saw this color palette over at the ColorLab Challenges this week!!  These are some of my very favorite colors and I have been doing a lot with them lately.  I knew that I would have to use my Elegant Soiree DSP for this one because it is gorgeous and has these colors.  Of course, narrowing down to what I wanted to make was the hard part and I went to the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge to help out.

I pulled out my brand new Fun Flowers die for this one…it is fun!  Basic Pearls were the perfect finishing touch.

My WordPress is intermittent today so I’m going to publish this without any more details (this is my third re-type).  I’ll try to update with more if I can.  I’ll be back tomorrow (WordPress willing) with a “just for fun” card I was able to make this week.  Hope you enjoy this week’s ColorLab colors!!

If you are a purple and pink fan, you will love this week’s colors at the ColorLab Challenge!!  Just take a look.  Not sure I would have thought to put the Concord Crush and Perfect Plum together but they are really pretty, especially when you add in Blushing Bride.  All of the main colors are In Colors this year and they coordinate so well.  Within a month, we’ll be seeing next year’s addition to the In Color family with 5 more colors.  Don’t forget, though, this year’s colors are here for another year (yes, we will have 10 In Colors!).

I used the flower from Friends Never Fade since it is so fun to add multiple colors to it.  The coordinating Pear Pizzazz paper is from the Greenhouse Garden DSP and is one of my favorite prints!  I created my own Concord Crush Satin Ribbon by dying some Vanilla Satin Ribbon, dyed some of the new Baker’s Twine in Blushing Bride and tied on a button.  I am so glad that Concord Crush is staying around for another year.  It seems to take me a while to “warm up” to some colors and the more I use this beautiful purple, the more I love it!

I hope your week is going well.  The family is almost recovered from the stomach yuck, thank heavens!  I have another class tonight and then will have a bit of a break to stamp just for me.  Hopefully I’ll be posting a bit more regularly starting next week.  Thanks for stopping in today.  Can’t wait to see what beautiful things you create with this color palette!!

Stamps:  Friends Never Fade, Short & Sweet; Paper:  Greenhouse Gala DSP, Blushing Bride, Concord Crush, Whisper White; Ink:  Concord Crush, Perfect Plum, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz; Accessories:  Vanilla Satin Ribbon, White Baker’s Twine, Neutrals Buttons, Sticky Strip

SUOC19 – Decorate it with flowers

SUOC19 – Decorate it with flowers published on 7 Comments on SUOC19 – Decorate it with flowers

I guess I took the SU Only Challenge pretty literally today!  This card is really covered with flowers.  I started with my Greenhouse Gala DSP and used pieces containing the same flower.  Then I cut out two butterflies from Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White, stamping the same flower on the Whisper White butterfly in Pear Pizzazz and Chocolate Chip ink.  I created the butterfly’s body with the new Baker’s Twine from the Summer Mini.

This was a card we made in my Mother/Daughter stamping class last Friday.  We took two layouts and made them each two ways – a mom version and a teen version.  It was such fun and the girls really showed their creativity!!

Fighting a stomach thing in my house so this is short and sweet!  Hope your week is going well!

Stamps:  Friends Never Fade, Short & Sweet; Paper:  Greenhouse Gala DSP, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White; Ink:  Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip; Accessories:  Espresso/White Baker’s Twine, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Big Shot, Beautiful Butterflies Die, Dimensionals
