Crafty Friends Blog Hop – Ellen Hutson Essentials

Crafty Friends Blog Hop – Ellen Hutson Essentials published on 7 Comments on Crafty Friends Blog Hop – Ellen Hutson Essentials

I’m so excited that today is Crafty Friends Blog Hop day! We are celebrating Ellen Hutson today with a focus on Ellen Hutson Essentials. Our timing is particularly great because Ellen Hutson is holding The Summer of Stamping event and today there is a new release (along with many other fun reveals all month).

I just recently got the Be the Change Stamp Set and coordinating dies and the first thing I thought to do with it was to create “real” lightning bugs. I mean, who can resist with such a cute image and the perfect sentiment? Want to see it lit up?

I LOVE THEM!! With a card like this, the best way to explain how to make it is to show you. So I created a video on how I built my circuit using the Chibitronics kit. If you have any questions after watching, let me know. These are just so fun to make and I highly recommend it when you want to create something special.

I am so happy to share this shopping code that is good for today and tomorrow (July 20 and 21, 2020). Just click the button above to shop and use the code: CRAFTYFRIENDS. I have linked my affiliate link and appreciate you shopping with me.

Now to the rest of the hop. I’m sending you to my friend Amy Kolling and I know you will love what she created. Here is the whole hop in case you get lost along the way.

I hope you enjoy our hop and have fun shopping too! Thank you so much for stopping in today. Let me know what you think about my lightning bugs! See you soon.

Hope your week is going well! I cannot believe it is already the middle of July. This whole “groundhog day” effect is messing with my sense of time. But today, I get to share a card that I made for two of my favorite things. First, I am the sketch designer for Freshly Made Sketches and I used the inspiration from SugarPea Designs monthly challenge!

I have been seeing some beautiful cards with dark Copic backgrounds (Yana Smakula is one of the stampers I have seen). I decided that it was time to give it a go. I started by stamping the flower and butterfly from Meadow Motifs with Momento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Solar White paper using my Misti. I colored images with inspiration from the SugarPea Designs challenge.

Once done with the images, I started on the background using a dark Copic marker. It took a bit but ultimately not too hard to do. Then, I slid the whole panel back in the Misti. First I used a static bag to make sure stray powder would not stick. Then I overstamped the image with Versamark Ink and added Wow Gold Rich Superfine Powder, then heat embossed. The effect is stunning! I pulled a sentiment from what is now my “go to” sentiment set, Everyday Sentiments. On my Fog Gray base, I stamped the Handwritten Letter in Versamark for more texture and added a small gold panel for the sketch.

I hope you’ll come over and join me in both challenges! Thank you so much for stopping in today! See you again soon.

Freshly Made Sketches #443

Happy Freshly Made Sketches day! We have a fabulous sketch today from Lee Ann…super fun and different that one I have used before. Love that!

I started with stamping this beautiful flower from The Greetery (Summer Sketches Stamp Set) using Distress Inks for a softer feel. I played around with watercoloring the panels behind it but found that I liked it better with leaving everything uncolored. I kept the watercolor paper for texture though. The sentiment is from Caring Cross, another great set from The Greetery. Thankfully this is not a card I needed for any particular reason but they are always good to have on hand.

I hope you are having a great week and will join us for this sketch. I think the gallery is going to be really spectacular! Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon.

Peace, Love and Happiness

Needing something to brighten your day? I think I might have just what you need. I’m thrilled to share this peek of Erin Lee Creative‘s newest kit called Peace, Love and Happiness.

I chose this smiley face image (and its coordinating die) as the first thing to color. I mean really, who could resist it?! I kept the coloring bold and without shading. My oldest told me it looked just like a retro sticker…win!! I thought this stencil (one of two in the kit) would help me create the perfect background. I chose a coordinating pink ink and brushed it on to a white panel and then cut it down with wonky angles. The same color was sponged onto the base. Then I added one of the sentiments using Versafine Clair.

I have so many ideas with the elements of this kits. Expect more over the next few day! And YOU can get this tomorrow, July 1st at Midnight Central time. If you want to shop with me, I now have an affiliate link with Erin Lee Creative. Happy shopping!

I am over at the SugarPea Designs blog today with a card using one of my favorite sets from the last release, Floral Envie.

I stamped in Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with Wow White embossing powder. Then I pulled out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I had not used them in a long time and forgot how much I enjoy them. With the white embossing, I worked to keep the colors light and airy.

I love the Everyday Sentiments stamp set too. I’m a fan of work horse sentiment sets, as you know, and this has pretty much everything! And the SugarCut Sentiment Strips dies to cut them all out makes this a powerhouse duo. I hope that you will hop over to the SugarPea blog and say hi there (and poke around for lots more inspiration from my fellow designers). Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon!

I have the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches to share with you today! Our lovely Judy Rozema has designed this wonderful layered challenge and it is fabulous.

I chose the bird from Folk Hummingbird (Pinkfresh Studios) as the focal point for the card. It had been a bit since I had colored it and since it is hummingbird season here, I thought it was perfect to use. I colored it using Copic Markers. Then I set to layering. I brushed on Salty Ocean and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Inks for the layers. Then I realized the base needed a bit more oomph so I added a bit of Picked Raspberry Distress Ink to it. The sentiment comes from the same set and fit nicely into the rectangle die.

I hope you will come over and join the fun this week. Make sure you visit the rest of the team to see their beautiful work! Back tomorrow with a card for SugarPea Designs. See you then!

I have a combination of challenges for today’s card. I’m using the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches designed by the wonderful Amy O’Neill. Such a pretty one to use! I added this to this month’s inspiration from the Mix It Up Challenge #68 by SugarPea Designs.

I started with the Stacked Honeycombs cut out of vellum. After brushing on Hero Arts Hero Hues ink in Pool Party and Lemon Drop onto Bristol Smooth paper, I cut them out with the SugarPea Designs dies. Love the font on this big Hello die! The butterflies are an extra from this month’s orders. The card is pretty clean and easy but these dies really make it look special.

I hope you will join in on both challenges this week! And a reminder that by joining in the Mix It Up Challenge, you have a chance to win a $50 gift card from SugarPea Designs. Thanks for stopping in today! See you soon!

Today we have another fun sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. Our designer this week is the queen of florals, the lovely Narelle.

I decided to use another new product from Erin Lee Creative, the Tiny Card + Envelope Die. Isn’t this just adorable?! I want to make all the envelopes in all the colors! I thought the sentiment from Let’s Make Cards were perfect to pair with the die. I embossed the background using the Wonky Plaid Stencil.

I think you will have lots of fun with these square layers. And be ready, Erin Lee Creative’s new release goes live on June 12th. Thanks for stopping in today!! See you soon.

We’re In This Together

We’re In This Together published on No Comments on We’re In This Together

There are times when stamp companies come out with a release that is perfect for the moment. And you have to know that these companies work months before a release to design and manufacture so it generally isn’t something they just put together last second. So I will say that I’m thrilled that my friend Erin from Erin Lee Creative has done it again.

She has a new release coming out on June 12th and this image is a part of a set called Here For You. The sentiment is from the same set. I stamped the hands three times using my Misti for spacing and then colored away. It took a few days of coloring and taking my time to work on skin tones. Which is a wonderful thing to do when one likes to Copic color. I also realized that I need a few more colors to get the colors of the human rainbow right.

I generally avoid discussions of any political nature here but this moment in time is bigger than just “politics”. It is a time of learning and listening. It is also a time to realize that we have to figure this out. Really. We need to understand at our core that humans of all colors, shapes, sizes, genders and any other defining characteristic have value and worth. We have the ability to fix these problems. Together.

I hope you will be inspired by this card and by Erin’s release. Keep your eyes out for more details. I’ll be sharing them here and on social media. Until tomorrow, I hope you are safe and healthy. Thanks for stopping in!
