I hope your week is going well so far! I am bringing you a bit of March inspiration for the SugarPea Designs blog today.

All the sweet clover from Cottontail Cuties was perfect for a fun March card, don’t you think?! I stamped all the images in Momento black ink and then colored with Copic markers. I love all the choices for creating a scene and had fun putting these together. I mean, honestly, who can resist a bunny with a four leaf clover?

I debated using a grass stencil but instead opted to create a Distress Oxide background. These are fun to do and an easy option to add color and texture. I love how the images pop against it. The sentiment comes from the same stamp set and could easily be replaced with the Good Luck in the set. I cut it out with the SugarCut – Sentiment Strips after stamping it on a scrap of the inked card stock.

Happy March! I am thrilled today to share projects for a new release by Erin Lee Creative! This release is full of faith inspiration and so much more!

My first project for you today is a card using the new Faith & Florals set. I think you are going to love this one.

I wanted to keep this fairly simple to focus on the art so I did a loose watercoloring of the image. It is hard for me to just allow things to go outside the lines but I love the effect!

The sentiment comes from the same set. All of the set sentiments are ones that you are sure to love. After stamping the sentiment, I decided just to add a few splatters to add to the loose feel.

Next up, I have a different style of card using the new Be Still stamp set. This set contains more fabulous sentiments that are perfect on artsy background.

I created this background with Distress Oxide inks in Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean on Distress Watercolor Paper. I then stamped the sentiment from Be Still in Nocturne Versafine Clair and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I cut the panel with a stitched die and put on a black card base to help make the sentiment pop.

I’m up for the social media team on Instagram for Honey Bee Stamps today. But I wanted to share here too! I took a class last weekend with the amazing Jenn Shurkus on all things Distress Ink. What fun! It encouraged me to pull out some things that I hadn’t really used in a while and just play. I strongly encourage doing that! It is good for the soul.

Using Distress Watercolor Paper, I stamped the Spring Blooms image with Versamark. Then I heat embossed with white embossing powder. Using Distress Oxide inks, I smooshed the ink down on my Waffleflower Watercolor Mat and then spritzed with water. I then took a small acrylic block and used it to pick up the ink for placement. I like using a small one because I can sort of control where color goes and then use the corner or edge to place more down.

The key here is patience. Just let it dry between colors. It also allows you to see where you need to come back with a little more color for variance. The Oxide inks have such interesting color breakdowns with water and they are fabulous to use. For colors I used Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness, Squeezed Lemonade, and Mustard Seed. I chose a sentiment from the new Spring Joy Bouquet set, stamped it on Black card stock, embossed with white and then cut it out with the coordinating Spring Joy Bouquet die. I added a few Bubblegum Confetti elements to finish.

I’m thrilled to be able to offer you inspiration for Gina K Designs‘ new release! It goes live tonight (when this post goes up) so you can head right over to see all the amazing products.

For today, I’ll be showing you Beautiful Birds. And the title says it all. The images are incredible and were designed by Melanie Muenchinger.

I’m sure Melanie had a specific bird in mind when she drew this but I decided it was a bluebird. Because I love them. The image shading is great for showing where colors go and makes it fun to color. I thought my bluebird would be perfect on a cherry tree (I “might” be looking towards spring) so I colored the branch that way and added another branch and leaves from the set too.

After splattering the Kraft card stock with some distress ink, I cut a vellum circle as a layer for the bird. All of the sentiments in the set are beautiful but this one called out to me. And how pretty is the combination of script and print on the fonts?

Hi everyone! A quick update before I get to my card for today. Starting tomorrow, I will be going to training at United Airlines for about 3 weeks. I’ll have a picture at the bottom of the post (gasp…yeah, I know, I never share pictures of me here). The short answer is that I’ll be going to the Captain seat of the Airbus 319/320. So I’ve been working ahead on DT cards and other projects. Even with that, I’ll be pulled back here and will probably miss a couple of FMS weeks. Hope the team doesn’t fire me! *smile* That said, I will have cards coming late tomorrow for Gina K Designs and also on Friday for Honey Bee Stamps so stay tuned.

Now for our scheduled programming! The sketch this week for Freshly Made Sketches from the wonderful Judy Rozema lends itself to lots of interpretations. I pulled out some favorite things from SugarPea Designs.

I started with Meadow Motifs, because it is a great place to start. I stamped this sweet flower and did a quick watercolor with Daniel Smith paints. I cut it out with the coordinating dies. Using one of the stitched squares from the Card Front Element Builder III dies seemed like a good choice for the sketch and then I decided to pull out some ribbon.

I haven’t played with a shabby bow in quite a while and I thought it was a nice fit the flower and colors. I do love them! I added a few confetti elements and then put the entire layer on an Eggplant base (Concord and 9th).

Now back to the beginning. In January, I went to a Captain leadership training class in Denver. It was a top-notch event which culminated with us getting our Captain wings from the Executive Chairman, Oscar Munoz.

Hi everyone! Busy week for posts this week but I am thrilled to share today’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Our wonderful Amy O’Neill has a sketch that will open up all kinds of creative opportunities!

I knew immediately that I wanted a “border” style image and then I came across this Shake Your Tail Feathers stamp from Picket Fence Studios! PERFECT! Using my Misti, I stamped it on a card base and again on another panel. On the top panel, I just colored with Copic Markers and played with shading on my greens and teals. Such fun! I cut the panel down and then chose a sentiment for the crossing panel from the same set.

I hope you enjoy this take on the spotlight technique and will have some creative time to join us this week. I’ll be back on Friday for a new project for Honey Bee Stamps (and a hop!). See you soon!

I’m so excited to share a sneak peek of the new Spring Bliss Release from Honey Bee Stamps. The release goes live today, February 16th at 11p Eastern.

Today I’m sharing with you an adorable die set, the Itty Bitty Eggs Honeycuts, along with the Easter Buddies stamp set and dies, and introducing today’s new product, Playful Pastels Paper Pack. ** Links will not be live until the release launches at 11p tonight **

This little set of dies is just too fun! I took distress ink in different colors and brushed it onto Bristol paper. Then I just got to cutting out the eggs. Super fast and easy! On one of the cuts, I made sure the three eggs were evenly spaced and then I used that negative as a template for placing the eggs on the panel.

I chose a sentiment from the new Easter Buddies set that I thought was the perfect size to not cover the eggs too much. I stamped in Versafine Clair Morning Mist in keeping with the pastels. Finally I just tied on some ribbon from my stash to make it feel more finished.

You may have seen that Honey Bee Stamps has started sneak peeks for their Spring Bliss Release. As a member of their social media team, I get to join in on the release fun too! I am sharing today’s Day 3 peeks along with the rest of the team.

The products featured today are going to be must-haves for many of your stamp rooms. First is the Old Rugged Cross stamp set and coordinating dies and I combined them with the Wood Frame Builder Honeycut Dies and the Basketweave Stencil that was revealed on Day 1. ** Please note that the links will not work properly until the release goes live on Feb. 16th at 11p **

As we approach Lent this week, I was particularly drawn to the Old Rugged Cross set. All of the images and dies combine for many, many variations. This is a multi-purpose set that is wonderful for Easter and Christian holidays but also for sympathy cards. As soon as I saw the set, I knew what I wanted to make. The crown of thorns image is perfectly sized to work with the crosses in the set and the die cuts the center to allow it to hang. The draped banner comes in two images that you can use together or separately to create the layered appearance on the cross.

Once I had the cross built, I wanted to use other products to highlight but not overshadow it. I started with the Frame Builder dies and just cut a white frame to add texture. But the card seemed a little too clean even for me. So I grabbed the new Basketweave Stencil and brushed on some Antique Linen Distress Ink to add more depth behind the cross. Finally, I had to choose a sentiment and this one seemed to be just exactly right. Again, the detail on the dies that cut the sentiment close allow so much more of the rest to show through.

Hello my friends! I hope the week has been good. I’m here to share a card I created for Honey Bee Stamps on Instagram today. Even though I have lots to be doing creatively this week, I just needed to take a moment for some coloring. And what better than a wonderful flower.

While it isn’t quite sunflower season, it is ever really NOT the time to color one this pretty?! Yeah, I thought the same. I pulled out lots of yellows and browns and got to work (a picture of the colors below). I just played with shading until I was happy.

Next I worked on leaves and then the wheat. The wheat adds a nice texture element with the flower. The Farmhouse Check background stamp is one that I will use over and over. Today I purposely under inked it for a tattered effect. Kind of loving that! And then finally the sentiment from the set. Perfect!

I have another “combo” card for you today using the new February SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge and this weeks Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. I used the inspiration and colors from SPD Mix along with the fab sketch by our awesome Narelle Farrugia.

It didn’t take me but a glance at the inspiration to know that I needed to pull out the Beautiful Books Stamp Set and Dies. After stamping and cutting, I started playing with the layout a bit. I realized that I needed a die cut sentiment so the Card Front Element Builder III dies have this great “hello” that seemed just right.

Then it hit me that the strips from the same die set would be perfect for the sketch. Not that I can’t cut a rectangle but something about the perfection of a die cut makes it simpler. All I had left to do was attach everything to a kraft base. I love it when it works out that way!
