Vintage Branches for SugarPea Designs

Vintage Branches for SugarPea Designs published on 2 Comments on Vintage Branches for SugarPea Designs

A couple of weeks ago, during Sweet Peek Week, I shared a card showing the SugarCut – Botanical Branches from SugarPea Designs. It was a card that came together quickly with the help of these beautiful dies plus a new word die and stencil. I was inspired to use exactly the same layout to create a totally different card and I hope you like this concept.

It started when I first saw the Splash of Color Stamp Set. While my first use of it was bold and clean, I immediately thought that it could be used for vintage style cards too. So that is what I made. I started with brushing Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Ink onto Distress White Heavyweight Card Stock. Next I added some of the new Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide to finish the foundation. I partially inked up the Handwritten Letter Stamp Set with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and stamped it onto the based. Next up, Spash of Color! I chose one of the splatters and added it by partially inking with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. I liked it but thought it needed just a little more so I added a bit more of the splatter inked with Versamark and embossed with copper embossing powder.

Next, I inked some more of the paper with the same ink combination and used the SugarCut Botanical Branches and the SugarCut Thanks Word to cut my elements. Once I had them cut, I added a bit more ink in places and then touched on some Versamark for more copper embossing. On the vellum shadow for the sentiment I sponged Vintage Photo on the back side to make it not so bright. I placed a few sequins exactly the way I had on my original card to finish.

I hope this inspires you to use your own creations as inspiration to try something new. Vintage is not my normal style but having the basics already designed, it left me room to play outside the box. Thanks so much for stopping in today! Have a sweet day!

Freshly Made Sketches #485

Freshly Made Sketches #485 published on 5 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #485

Today is another wonderful Wednesday at Freshly Made Sketches! Our amazing Judy Rozema is the sketch designer and this is a classic you are sure to enjoy using.

I’m going to confess that I was a bit pressed for time on this so I kept it pretty straight to sketch. I went with products from Honey Bee Stamps because, well, that was what was on my desk. I had this scrap left from my print in the Team Tie Dye paper pad and added a flag cut to the end. Then, using the smaller of the two stencils, I texture embossed using the Layering Balloons stencil.

Bitty Buzzwords came to the rescue for the sentiment. I cut the “birthday” word from black card stock and some vellum and then added the stamped word from the coordinating stamp set. I thought it needed a little something extra so I put the banner on the angle a little and added a clip from my stash.

Thanks for dropping in today! Hope you have a great week and I’ll see you tomorrow for a project I created for SugarPea Designs.

Freshly Made Sketches #484

WOW! After release-a-palooza last week, I’m taking a deep breath! I hope you enjoyed all the beautiful products from both SugarPea Designs and Honey Bee Stamps! Today I’m here to share the latest from Freshly Made Sketches and we have an amazing sketch from designer Amy O’Neill.

I never had the chance to show you this Paint Palette SugarCut Die last week and I really thought you needed to see it in action. It also happens to be perfect for the sketch! I cut the palette from some old corrugated kraft card stock in my stash and then added the fun little ink colors. They are cut from Tim Holtz Heavyweight Distress paper and then colored with Distress Inks. I cut the paint brush the same way with exception of the little silver ferrule which I cut from some silver paper. It is wonderfully fun to put this together and super quick too. I added a sentiment from Everyday Sentiments cut with the Sentiment Strips SugarCut Dies.

I think this sketch will be super popular and the gallery is sure to be wonderful! Come on over and join us! Thanks for stopping in today!

Honey Bee Stamps Let’s Celebrate – Sneak Peek Day 4

Honey Bee Stamps Let’s Celebrate – Sneak Peek Day 4 published on 2 Comments on Honey Bee Stamps Let’s Celebrate – Sneak Peek Day 4

Welcome to the Let’s Celebrate Sneak Peeks from Honey Bee Stamps. And truly, it is something to celebrate! The release will go live TONIGHT after the release party on IG and FB that starts at 8p Central. Come join us for the release party and then join the celebration!

For today, we have more amazing product to share! I am showing you the Just BEEcause Stamp Set and coordinating Honey Cuts, and the Honey Comb Stamps and Honey Cuts Dies. And introducing the new Intense Black Ink Pad, a copic friendly ink. (Release links will be live on May 3rd after the release party)

Let’s face it, when your company is names Honey Bee Stamps, you make the cutest bees and honey possible! I was just insanely excited to get this Just BEEcause stamp set and coordinating Honey Cuts. There are SOOOO many elements and ways to use the set. Details galore! I stamped the images in the new Intense Black Ink. Then I colored the images with Copic Markers.

Once I had all the elements colored, I started playing with my layout. I used the new Honey Comb Dies to create the layering honeycombs. These are super cool dies because they both cut out the coordinating stamp images or can combine to cut this little trio of honeycombs. I added a sentiment from the Just BEEcause set directly to the base and then added all the elements.

Finally, I added a touch of sparkle with some Wink of Stella on the bees wings. I had such fun playing with the possibilities of this set and I’m quite certain you’ll be seeing more of it from me.

Thanks for joining me for these sneak peeks. I hope you will join in on the IG or FB party. I would be grateful if you would consider shopping with me via my links in this post. See you soon!

Honey Bee Stamps Let’s Celebrate Release – Sneak Peeks Day 3

Honey Bee Stamps Let’s Celebrate Release – Sneak Peeks Day 3 published on 1 Comment on Honey Bee Stamps Let’s Celebrate Release – Sneak Peeks Day 3

Welcome to the Let’s Celebrate Sneak Peeks from Honey Bee Stamps. And truly, it is something to celebrate! The release will go live on Monday, May 3rd after the release party on IG and FB that starts at 8p Central.

I am focusing today on a new stamp and die combination that will become a go-to in any stamp room: Bitty Buzzwords Stamp Set and Bitty Buzzwords Honey Cuts Dies (Release links will be live on May 3rd after the release party)

This set has all the potential to be one you reach for over and over to add sentiments outside and inside your cards. But I thought I’d show it as the focal point today. I used the partial die cut method with the word outline at the edge of my white layer. This left me room to show off a beautiful background which also helps the word pop! Usually, I would have to ink and watercolor and smoosh and….. But nope! I just pulled one of the Team Tie Dye prints instead. With one sheet, I created both cards.

When running through my Gemini Jr., placing the top plate is the key to where the die stops cutting. Mine was a little off of what I wanted and cut into the stock just a little below the word. After using a paper trimmer to cut each side away, I just cut the shadow from vellum and placed it over the card stock cut. Problem solved and I like how the vellum helps further define the word. For the patterned paper, I cut the 6″x 6″ paper to 4.25″ x 6″ and then in half again. That left a side piece that I used for cutting the words to layer on top. I just placed the dies so that they coordinated with the print showing.

I used the print part of the Bitty Buzzwords Stamps for the add on to the sentiment and I love the choices. To finish the card I added some Playful Pastels Gem Stickers.

Thanks so much for stopping in today. I hope you enjoy this peek!

Honey Bee Stamps Let’s Celebrate Release – Sneak Peeks Day 1

Honey Bee Stamps Let’s Celebrate Release – Sneak Peeks Day 1 published on 1 Comment on Honey Bee Stamps Let’s Celebrate Release – Sneak Peeks Day 1

Welcome to the Let’s Celebrate Sneak Peeks from Honey Bee Stamps. And truly, it is something to celebrate! The release will go live on Monday, May 3rd after the release party on IG and FB that starts at 8p Central.

I chose to share a few of my very favorite things from this release today AND something that I’m crazy excited about. My card uses the Fancy Frosting Stamp Set and coordinating Honey Cuts Die, the Inside: Snarky Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set, and the Team Tie Dye Paper Pad (Release links will be live on May 3rd after the release party)

I thought that a celebration card was the way to start so I pulled some balloon images from the Fancy Frosting Stamp Set and stamped them onto watercolor paper. This stamp set has everything you need for birthday cards, cake, balloons, frosting words, cake, oh and cake! But the balloons were perfect for me! Especially that striped one!

I loved the idea of using the same stripe colors as the patterned paper I chose! Out came my Daniel Smith watercolors and I got to coloring. But here is the deal…I actually knew exactly what colors to use because I’m the one who created this pattern! (Colors listed at the end of the post)

The Team Tie Dye is just that! The team sent designs into Melissa and she chose a beautiful array to turn into a paper pack. Side by side I have the original that I colored and sent in and then the pack version. The gorgeous art in this pack just blows me away and knowing that each was hand created makes it incredibly special!

The sentiment on the card front comes from the Fancy Frosting set but the inside comes from a new and fun set intended to be a bit sassy. We all have those folks on our mailing list that appreciate the humor and you are going to love having this choice (and there is another inside set that is a bit more traditional too).

Thanks so much for stopping in today. I hope you enjoy this peek! Let me know what you think about my card and my paper design.

Daniel Smith Watercolors: Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Orange Hue, New Gamboge, Hooker’s Green, Phthalo Blue (Green Shade), Indanthrone Blue, Quinacridone Purple

SugarPea Designs Spring Release Day

SugarPea Designs Spring Release Day published on 15 Comments on SugarPea Designs Spring Release Day

I am so happy to be here all week for the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week!! This spring release is full of fun products that are perfect for every stamper. And we have team hop, of course, to share inspiration. The release goes live TODAY at 2p Eastern.

Before going live, we have more products to share: Botanical Branches SugarCut Dies, Enjoy Word SugarCut Die, and Skinny Stripes Stencil (**NOTE: Links will not be live until the release is available today at 2p Eastern **)

The three products today are beautiful alone and spectacular together. The hardest decision I made was which colors to use! I used my yard as a muse since it is all the shades of spring green. I sprayed the Skinny Stripes stencil with Pixie Spray to help it stay in place and then placed it on Bristol Smooth paper. I inked with Distress Oxide inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness. While I had the brushes out, I inked up some plain Bristol Smooth in the same colors for die cutting.

I chose one of the leaves from Botanical Branches and cut two of them. Then I cut the Enjoy Word out of the darkest section (with Rustic Wilderness) to help it pop against the background. In a tried and true technique, I cut the shadow from vellum then glued the inked word to it. It separates the word from the background but doesn’t draw you away. I glued everything down and added a few sequins. I want to try this is all the colors of the rainbow!!

SugarPea Designs Spring Release Sneak Peek – Day 4

SugarPea Designs Spring Release Sneak Peek – Day 4 published on 20 Comments on SugarPea Designs Spring Release Sneak Peek – Day 4

I am so happy to be here all week for the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week!! This spring release is full of fun products that are perfect for every stamper. And we have team hop, of course, to share inspiration. The release goes live on Friday, April 30th at 2p Eastern.

Today we are sharing four new products: Hey Spring Stamp Set and coordinating SugarCut Dies, Spring Scene Builder Cover Plate Die, and the Picket Fence SugarCut Die (**NOTE: Links will not be live until the release is available on Friday, April 30th**)

I decided to work with the Spring Scene Builder Cover Plate and mostly use it stand alone. Without a doubt it works with so many images and in so many ways but just by itself, it is awesome. I cut all the elements at once out of Bristol Smooth paper and then used Distress Ink for watercoloring. It takes almost no time to color and feels so complete.

Once dry, I put a vellum layer under the base die layer and then built the scene on top of it. Aren’t the little flowers adorable?! I chose a sentiment from Tuesday’s Birthday Wishes Stamp set. I like that this can be a birthday card but also just a happy mail card. While the glue set, I ink a base layer with Distress Oxide Ink and then attached the vellum layer to the top of it. Originally I had planned on making this a shaker card (and you totally could!) but it seemed to take away from the little details so I just opted out of that idea. I hope you enjoy this look!

SugarPea Designs Spring Release Sneak Peek – Day 3

SugarPea Designs Spring Release Sneak Peek – Day 3 published on 22 Comments on SugarPea Designs Spring Release Sneak Peek – Day 3

I am so happy to be here all week for the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week!! This spring release is full of fun products that are perfect for every stamper. And we have team hop, of course, to share inspiration. The release goes live on Friday, April 30th at 2p Eastern. I even added on a little Freshly Made Sketches for today’s card (with, I will grant you, a pretty loose interpretation of Narelle’s sketch).

Today we are sharing three new products: Take Us To Your Cake Stamp Set and coordinating SugarCut Dies, Outer Space Scene Builder Stencil and In The Spotlight Stencil (**NOTE: Links will not be live until the release is available on Friday, April 30th**)

So there is no doubt that this is just a great set of coordinating products! Just look at how they work together! I started with the Outer Space Scene Builder Stencil and created the moon with Distress Ink. I put on light gray and then layered on the craters and inked some more. Next I added the light beam with the In the Spotlight Stencil. Now is where the real appreciation of details in these stencils comes. I placed the negatives of the stencils over the inked areas and added the background sky (all of this was created with Distress Inks and Distress Oxide Inks). With the negatives still in place, I started created the “stars”. First I splattered on some white watercolor paint. Nope, not enough. So next, I added spritzes of Perfect Pearls (in a sprayer mixed with water). Still not enough so I pulled out some discontinued Smooch Pearlized Ink from my stash and threw a little of that on too. Kind of messy, definitely fun!

Once I got that done, I moved on to the Take Us To Your Cake set. It is just darling and I love all the little aliens! I colored a few of them along with the space ship using Copic Markers. I stamped the beam image over the stenciling and then added the rest of the elements. The sentiment from the set worked perfectly with the Sentiment Strips SugarCut Dies.

Today we are sharing three more new products: Birthday Wishes Stamp Set, Birthday Candles SugarCut Dies and Happy Birthday Script SugarCut Die (**NOTE: Links will not be live until the release is available on Friday, April 30th**)

The Birthday Wishes set is one that made me clap my hands for joy when I first saw it. I am a self-confessed sentiment hoarder and this will go into heavy rotation. Combined with the cute candles, it is perfect for any one on your list. I inked the candles up in a variety of colors and cut with the Birthday Candles SugarCut Dies.

I chose a striped patterned paper, split the top panel and added the candles. This sentiment is my favorite, maybe of all time. Seriously! My 17yo son took one look at this card and claimed it for his birthday. Yes, he does it every year…no surprises for him! But let’s face it, is there a better choice for my high school senior?
