Please bear with me…today is the day. Graduation day for my oldest. I’m so excited for him and yet it feels so bittersweet. Naturally, all that I’m working on right now seems to be directly related to graduation but I’m hoping it will provide a bit of inspiration for you.
I’m the sketch designer for Freshly Made Sketches this week. I chose a sketch based on some cards I had in my head. I even mostly stuck to my own sketch! *smile*
These are more cards that my son asked for to give to his friends. I tried to keep them simple but still special. I guess you have gathered that the school colors are red and white. I used some metallic paper from my stash (it has a matte finish and I cannot remember the name).
I used the Block Alphabet SugarCut Dies from SugarPea Designs to cut the word and then used the negative panel too. A little planning and lining up makes it easy to get two cards for one cut. The little cap is from the Cap and Gown Stamp set and coordinating Honey Cuts by Honey Bee Stamps.
I used some patterned paper from my stash as a base and the red print from the Love Letters Paper Pack by Honey Bee Stamps. The whole card is 7″ x 3.5″.
Wish me luck today that I don’t totally embarrass my son as a blubbering mess. The only saving grace is that I know I’ll be in good company with other parents. Thanks for stopping in today. Hope you will play along with my sketch this week.

Congratulations to both Jacob and you! I love the bold design of these cards and the red, white, and black are so striking together. Good luck keeping it together at the graduation. I’m sure you’ll be fine and Jacob will start his next adventure!

Wow, wow, wow! This is one of the nicest graduation cards I’ve seen in a long time. I love how you used the negative space from your lettering for another card. Great idea! Thanks Jan for inspiring as always and congratulations to your son on graduating!
