The Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop is well underway and what fun it is! I was happy to get a little time to join in this time because I’m always so inspired by the lovely work in the hop. It was also a good time to make sure I’m still coloring for The 30 Day Coloring Challenge this month.
I was thrilled to see this free download set from JessicaLynn Original that was created just for the blog hop. I don’t use digital stamps very often but this one was so pretty I just had to! The nice part is that you can size the image to your taste. I printed it onto X-Press It Blending Card so I could color it with my Copics. I took a Copic Coloring Class about a week ago (Copic Flowers with Lori Craig) and tried to apply some of what I learned with her. This image was super fun to use!
Just a quick post today. Back in the craft room working on some projects for later this week. I hope you have an amazing day. Don’t forget to go over to the blog hop to see all the talented stampers who have joined in! See you soon!
Supplies:
Stamps: Spring 2017 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Digital Stamp (JessicaLynn Original); Ink: Copic Markers, Versafine Onyx Black; Paper: X-Press It, Bermuda Bay; Accessories: Misti, Big Shot, Stitched Rectangles Dies (Simon Says Stamp), Softly Falling Embossing Folder (SU), Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine (SU), Dimensionals
Happy Monday to you all! I hope you had a fun weekend and are ready for a great week. I’m starting off the week with the latest Inky Paws Challenge and it is a great sketch. I could not resist pulling out my Winston Takes Flight stamp and dies again and coloring them with Copics Markers. This fellow really makes me happy!
I stamped the plane and banner onto Thick Whisper White card stock and got to coloring. I thought that our little bear friend would enjoy a red airplane this time. The little banner in this set is super fun and I did not use it last week during reveal week so I showed it here. Love how the sentiments fit right onto the banner! I created a “sky” with some retired DSP and used the Land Borders Dies for the curved edge. I did flip the sketch to landscape but otherwise tried to stay true to it. What a fun one! I hope you will join the challenge and I cannot wait to see how you interpret it.
I went to a Copic coloring class on Friday with the amazing Lori Craig (Copic Flowers) and I just have to say that if you ever have the chance to take one of these, GO!! It was so fun and I learned so much! The rest of my weekend was spent being a soccer mom with the beginning of season tournaments for my boys. Lots of amazing soccer was played and I’m super proud of my lads. Back to the stamp room this week for more coloring and more fun! Hope you have some time to get inky too! See you soon!
Supplies:
Stamps: Winston Takes Flight (Newton’s Nook); Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers; Paper: Thick Whisper White, Basic Gray, Blue Polka Dot (SU ret); Accessories: Misti, Black Baker’s Twine (SU), Big Shot, Land Borders Dies (NND), Winston Takes Flight Dies (NND), Dimensionals
I can’t believe that it is already the last day of the March release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Today’s set will be an instant classic for all you Newton fans. This one just has my heart!
I feel like acts of kindness are such an important part of our stamping community and this image just embodies that attitude! Little Newton helping his friend makes me happy.
I stamped the image plus a bunch of the rain drops using Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto Thick Whisper White card stock and then colored using Copic Markers (colors listed below). Then I just started coloring away. I debated making the umbrella rainbow colors (which would be totally adorable, by the way) but after creating a green panel, I just kept going with the green. I cut our pair out with the coordinating dies and did the same with the raindrop trios. Having those popped up for dimension is a small detail that makes all the difference. Love that they have a die for it! I created a corner cloud by using the Sky Borders die on an angle and then cutting a second time with a stitched rectangle. I used a base in the same colors as the rain and puddles and then chose this fun yellow envelope to match our duck. I hope this will brighten someone’s day. It will be in the mail soon since I created it with a special someone in mind. Now make sure you get to hopping around because I know you want a chance to win this one!

Thank you so much for your support of my work and that of the team this week. We just love sharing these release sets with you. Tomorrow is the big day when you can get these…we can’t wait to see what your creativity does with them! I hope you have a great day!
It is my turn for a bonus project over at the Newton’s Nook Designs blog today and I want to share all the details with you here. I remain obsessed with the quilled designs in the Beautiful Spring stamp set and I wanted to focus on the flower today.
The art work on this series of stamps (Beautiful Swirls) is really stunning and I thought that stamping on vellum might be a great way to show off the art within the images. I stamped in Versamark ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then I colored on the back side of the image using Copic markers. It is hard to capture on camera but in person you can see the shading on the flower and leaves a bit more. The coordinating dies make quick work of cutting this out and all I had to do next was figure out how to show off the flower! I first tried it against white (and I’ll admit, it is really pretty) but I wanted something a bit bolder. So I pulled this gold tag from my stash and I knew I was moving in the right direction. I chose a sentiment from Happy Little Thoughts. Apparently this is becoming one of my go-to sentiments! Love that whole set! I chose this patterned paper from Stampin’ Up and added some colored rhinestones to coordinate with the red flower.
I hope you are having a fabulous week so far. I have been working busily on the March release that is coming up next week for Newton’s Nook Designs. Oh, you are going to be in love! Suffice it to say I have made multiple cards already for some of the sets because I keep getting distracted with them! Maybe today will be the day I stay on track…..or not! Either way, I can’t wait to share with you! Back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches. Thanks so much for stopping in. See you soon!

I’m back with our last day of February Release Week with Newton’s Nook Designs! And oh what fun you are going to have! Our favorite feline is back and there is cake (and cupcakes)!! How could anyone resist?! I think this set is simply a must have. A cat, some cake and fabulously fun sentiment! Talk about knocking it out of the park!! It is hard to tell from my picture here but my card is actually a “wobble” card. And because you just have to see it in action, I created a video to show you. I colored the image with Copic markers (colors below) and then added an action wobbler behind the die cut image. On my video I show you how well the dies line up to make your die cutting perfect every time. Love that!
And you know you need to have this so take advantage of this great opportunity…

I’m back with Day 2 of February Release Week with Newton’s Nook Designs! Today we are changing directions a bit with a beautiful swirls addition called Beautiful Spring. As with all the sets in this collection, the images lend themselves to so many coloring variations and elegant, unique projects. These beautiful images just begged to be colored with happy spring colors so out came the Copics (colors listed below) and I started just playing with the variety of eggs. I confess that I got completely distracted and colored all the designs before I got back on track for putting this together. I love how easily the die set cuts these out!! I created a watercolor layer behind the eggs to help them pop and then thought this fun sentiment was just the one for the card. With all the fantastic choices in this set, you are going to really enjoy all the ways to color. Just go ahead and stamp them all at once and have fun! And you know you need to have this so take advantage of this great opportunity…

Are you ready for another week of amazing releases from Newton’s Nook Designs??? Just say yes because you are going to LOVE what we have to show this week! First up Newton himself is making an appearance and he seems to have the luck of the Irish! Newton’s Pot of Gold is being featured along with the Land Borders die set.
This sweet little stamp set is perfect for your St. Patrick’s Day fun but I love that the sentiments will be ones you can turn to again and again. I started by coloring my image with Copic Markers (colors listed below) and while I was coloring, I had some inspiration. How about using sequins as gold?! Yes, they are totally perfect with the scale of the image and I could not even be more excited about how this turned out. So how did I get the sequins on there? It was actually easier than I thought it would be. I put a ‘blob’ (yep, official crafting term) of Ranger Multi Medium Matte Glue on a scrap of paper and then using a toothpick end, applied the glue where I wanted it to be. Then just added the sequin on top. I put down one layer in the placement of the gold on the stamp image and once dry, added some more on top. This glue dries pretty quickly and most importantly, it dries with a matte finish.
I needed just the right layer for this fun image to go on, so I created a little interest using the Land Borders Die. I cut a piece of Green Apple Card Stock (SSS) with the border die, then laid it on some white card stock and cut again with a stitched rectangle. The sentiment is really one that I’m happy to add to my repertoire (being a hoarder collector of sentiments). Now here is the best part….

I have such a fun, well, treat to share with you today! Newton’s Nook Designs is having its annual Sweet Treats Blog Hop to share fun packaging ideas just in time for Valentine’s Day. You are going to have a great time hopping through and seeing all the projects!
I knew immediately that I just had to use this great set from the January Release called Love & Chocolate. The sweet little candies and goodies are such fun to color. During release week, I played with the other items but the little chocolate covered strawberries still needed some love. What better time than to add them to this project?! I had fun making one kind of a dark chocolate and one more of a milk chocolate. So many ways to enjoy coloring them! The sentiment pretty much sums it up, don’t you think?! Yeah…me too! Stamped it and colored the little hearts and then cut it out with a Stitched Circle die to create a tag and just popped the strawberries up on foam tape. This fun bag was left over from a kit last year. As I went through my drawer of bags and boxes, this practically jumped out and I knew it would be just right for the tag! All I had left was to add a little bit of black baker’s twine and a cute clip. Easy to fill with some treats and fun to duplicate. Can you guess what some elementary teachers will be getting this year? *smile*

Welcome back for Day 2 of January Release Week at Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we have a set that all of you with a sweet tooth are sure to love. And even if you don’t love candy, I know you will have a great time coloring these little treats from the darling set called Love & Chocolate! You can see more information over at the Newton’s Nook Designs blog!
Now I will warn you…do not even think about starting to work with this set on an empty stomach. I can tell you that the more I colored, the more I wanted chocolate! Although in fairness, I generally will be happy to have chocolate when I’m stamping (or any time)! I had such fun deciding what ‘flavors’ to make each little treat. A dark chocolate, a little milk chocolate, some white chocolate thrown in for good measure and then that lovely macaron! I have a list at the end of my supply list with the specific Copic Markers that I used. After getting all the treats colored it was quick work to cut out the images with the coordinating Love & Chocolate Dies. All I had to do was stack them on the little platter for presentation. I picked a sentiment from the set and stamped onto the DSP. In a nod to bakeries that have pretty doilies for their goodies, I added one under the platter and tied on some baker’s twine.

Hi again! My second post for today is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week. Our wonderful sketch is courtesy of the lovely Narelle and I think you will have fun with it!
I will admit that I almost didn’t get this one done for today. I spent all day Monday taking care of the post-holiday travel stuff at home and then had to leave on a trip late yesterday. I played around with some ideas but this is what finally seemed to work best. I colored this little Santa from Color Me Christmas (SU ret) using Copics and then fussy cut him out. I used a stitched circle as the base for him and the sentiments. I thought this was the perfect sketch for pulling out words dies so I used Christmas Greetings thinlits for this “jolly”. I thought it was a perfect choice for using with Santa. The “Christmas” sentiment is from the Poinsettia stamp set and fit perfectly with the die. In fairness, I may have cheated a bit on the sketch but I’m saying that the stamped word is kind of like the rectangle on the sketch and I’m sticking to that story! *smile* The card base is from an old kit and I’m happy to be using them up this year.
I hope you enjoy this card and the sketch this week. The team has done beautiful work and you will love all the inspiration. Don’t forget to check out my first post for The Card Concept. It is a fabulous inspiration piece that is sure to make you want to run to your stamp room! Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!
