It’s In The Bag for Picket Fence Studios

It’s In The Bag for Picket Fence Studios published on 2 Comments on It’s In The Bag for Picket Fence Studios

It is my turn to be up on the Picket Fence Studios blog today and I want to share my card here too. I have to confess that I am more and more in love with many of these PFS “Girls”. I have never been much for coloring people but these images really do make me want to learn more about skin color, hair color and honing my coloring skills. They are perfect for trying new things too.

This gal is BFF Kate and she is particularly stylish, don’t you think?! I gave her a wardrobe of neutrals but decided she needed a statement bag. What better than orange for that? Once she was colored, I wanted to add some splatters but did not want them on the image. So I cut out some scrap paper with the coordinating die and laid it over the colored image. Then I could splatter away without putting it where I didn’t want paint.

I was searching for sentiments that seemed right and stumbled across this one in the You’ve Got This set. I love it for Kate! Hope you have some time to do some coloring and that you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!

Freshly Made Sketches #395

Freshly Made Sketches #395 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #395

Happy middle of the week! I hope yours is going well. So I have a confession. Last week my family and I were on vacation. I generally don’t mention it too much until we get back for safety and security but it was really fun. And then reality came back with a work trip that went a day over and dealt with lots of unique issues (Newark shutting down a runway, lots of weather, timing out). In any case, all of this has cut WAY into my crafting time. I find that is generally true during the summer. For some people, it is the time to relax. For my job, it is the busy season. So with all that, I am still trying to find time to craft. I need to do it!

So yesterday I forced the issue and stamped one of my favorite images. The Mondo Hydrangea from Ellen Hutson is just so pretty. I also pulled out my Zig Clean Color Markers which had been sadly neglected. I used a light blue and a light purple to shade this flower.

I also would be negligent not to share that Ellen Hutson is having a sale! If you want this set, now is the time!!

Just click the graphic to see more. This takes you to my affiliate link and there is no extra cost to you.

After some false starts, I finally decided to just add a pale watercolor wash to keep with the fun sketch by Jen Mitchell for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. It looks really light here but is a little more noticeable in person. The sentiment comes from the same stamp set and works perfectly here.

And here is my color inspiration for the flowers. You see, before I got to color yesterday, I had been out weeding around these beauties. My white hydrangeas are anything but dull and always have such pretty and interesting shades.

I hope you enjoy this bit of watercoloring and that you will join us with Jen’s sketch. So many great ways to use it! For those in the US, I wish you a safe and happy Independence Day! Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon!

The latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches is one that I hope you will like. I am the sketch designer this week and I went for a straight-forward look. These are my favorite during the summer since I seem to have limited crafting time (kids home, lots of work, etc).

I could not wait to color this hummingbird from the Folk Hummingbird Stamp Set by Pinkfresh Studios. I had such fun coloring this with my Copic Markers! Then I continued the fun by creating this background with Hero Hues Ink Reactive Ink in Pool Party. It swirls on the Bristol paper like a dream and creates such great texture with just a little water. I found this sentiment in my stash and it is an Ellen Hutson set called Be Strong. I thought the Passionate Pink base was perfect to coordinate with my RV Copics on the bird.

I hope that you will enjoy playing along with us this week! Thanks for stopping in today. See you again soon!

I’m happy to share the latest sketch for Freshly Made Sketches today. Today our sketch designer is the lovely Lee Ann Barrett and I love this one.

I needed a card for a dear friend who has suffered at tremendous loss. These are truly the worst cards to make. Thankfully I had this new sentiment set called You’ve Got This by Pinkfresh Studios. This set was designed by my friend Caly Person and the script is Caly’s own writing. Elegant and gorgeous. I was even lucky enough to have the set sent to me by Caly…thank you so much!! I chose this pretty little flower from Serene Garden (Stampin’ Up) and did simple watercoloring on it.

The sketch is fabulous and I hope you will join us this week. Make sure you come over to see all the inspiration from the team too. Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon.

Picket Fence Studios June Release

Picket Fence Studios June Release published on 1 Comment on Picket Fence Studios June Release

I am so excited to share two cards that I have made for today’s June Release from Picket Fence Studios. I’m also on the company blog today!

Just To Say Hello by Jen Timko | BFF Claire Stamp Set and Dies by Picket Fence Studios, Copic Coloring

To start, the new BFF Claire could not be more fun. I love these “girls” to color and she is no exception. I chose a fun yellow dress and pink shoes. She looks like the kind of gal that can carry off pink shoes, don’t you think?! I pulled some old patterned papers from my stash to provide some extra texture and even a button and twine to match.

For my second card, I wanted something with a more masculine feel. So I grabbed the new Polka Dot Grunge stamp and the new Seriously die. Aren’t they great? You see, I needed to make an anniversary card for my DH and I had to avoid my normal girly tendencies. I love how this Catherine Pooler ink provides beautiful coverage on a solid image stamp. It keeps all the details! Audrey Blue is the card stock to coordinate and I cut a large circle out and popped it up on foam dots. I used clear foam under the vellum sentiment layer (still hidden under the word as much as possible) to allow it to be popped up invisibly.

And guess what I discovered? I went to the obvious set for the inside of my card, Ways to Say Happy Anniversary. Then I found this sentiment with the same script style as the die on the front! Also, a perfectly true sentiment for my DH.

If you want to see the whole release, make sure you click here and check out the Latest Releases section. Stamps, dies, word dies, stencils…something for everyone! Enjoy! Thanks for stopping in today. Have a great Friday!

Another week is flying by (or maybe I’m doing too much flying). In any case, we are back to Wednesday and the best day of the stamping week! Freshly Made Sketches day! Today the lovely Jacquie Southas is our sketch designer and I love this fun and innovative challenge.

I opted to play with some watercoloring and I chose this new to me Folk Hummingbird Stamp Set from Pinkfresh Studio. I was in a bit of a hurry and use my Daniel Smith dot card instead of my full paints. But I love how easy it is to find colors that coordinate from those cards. A little bit of loose and fast coloring since I was out the door for a trip. I colored an extra panel using the same colors and stamped the sentiments on them. The Cut Align allowed me to trim them down perfectly and even separate the “Many thanks”. I used a base of Bubblegum Pink by Gina K (such a pretty color!) to highlight some of the pinks.

I hope you will stop over to see all the inspiration from the team and take some time to join in. Lots of options on this one (I may need to re-visit it to try some more myself). Thanks for stopping in today. Back on Friday with the latest release from Picket Fence Studios. Until then, have a great week!

Welcome to the Stamping Friends Trifecta Blog Hop with Picket Fence Studios, Gina K Designs and My Sweet Petunia!  This collaboration of artists and friends is sure to inspire and I’m thrilled to be a part of it!  I have two cards to share today!  See links at the bottom plus how to win one of three $50 gift certificates from our sponsors.

Birthday Wishes by Jen Timko | Elegant Asters Stamp Set and Dies by Gina K Designs, Wishes Stamp by Gina K Designs, Wishes Die by Gina K Designs, Copic coloring, FlowersFirst I have a card that uses the Elegant Asters Stamp Set by Gina K Designs.  I stamped the images using my Misti (because I ALWAYS stamp with my Misti) to ensure perfect inking.  Then I colored them using Copic Markers.  Since they are Asters, I focussed on purples but decided that adding in a yellow flower would be a nice contrast.  The butterfly was a must add to this card because, well, it is such a beautiful butterfly!!  I used the Wishes Die paired with the Wishes Mini Stamp Set for the sentiment.  And here is the kicker…that close cutting with perfect borders on the tiny sentiment??  Yeah, the My Sweet Petunia Cut Align!!!  Oh, I’m in LOVE!!  I added some splatters using black watercolor paint and Smooch Moonlight Accent Ink.

Sending Birthday Wishes by Jen Timko | Wishes Stamp set and Wishes Word Die by Gina K Designs, Cut Align by My Sweet Petunia, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosFor my second card, I decided to focus on only the sentiment.  Same die and stamp but a totally different vibe!  I used Gina K Inks with my Life Changing Blender Brushes to add ink to some watercolor paper.  I added some water to soften the look and splattered with some water as well.  By using the blender brushes, I could control the color placement which made it work easier for me.  Again, I used the Cut Align to create the layered tiny sentiments.  The Blue Lagoon Card Stock was wonderful for a base to make the colors pop!

Next up is Jana Millen.

Below is the list of all the participants in today’s Trifecta Hop! You can refer to this at any time if you get lost on the links:

I’m so glad you stopped by today! Remember to comment all around the hop. Each store (Picket Fence Studios, Gina K Designs and My Sweet Petunia) will be giving a $50 gift certificate to their store (that is THREE chances for shopping!).

Sandra Girl for Picket Fence Studios

Sandra Girl for Picket Fence Studios published on 1 Comment on Sandra Girl for Picket Fence Studios

Today is my day over at the Picket Fence Studios blog!  I’m so happy I got a moment in my crazy week to color this gorgeous Sandra Girl image.  I have been in awe of her from the moment I saw her and now I have two of them.  Yep, two.  The original size (shown here) and Kiss Kiss Sandra Girl which has the image a little larger along with the sentiment I used today.  The original has a die coming out soon too!!

Beauty Lies Within by Jen Timko | Sandra Girl Stamp Set and Die by Picket Fence Studios, Kiss Kiss Sandra Girl Stamp by Picket Fence Studios, Random Dots Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Copic Coloring, Distress Oxide Ink, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosI colored her using Copic Markers (listed below in my Link Deli list) and just enjoyed working on her shading.  All of the girls really allow for practicing coloring skills and playing with skin and hair variations.  I thought pink would be a nice compliment to Sandra since she reminds me of a friend who happens to love pink.

Beauty Lies Within by Jen Timko | Sandra Girl Stamp Set and Die by Picket Fence Studios, Kiss Kiss Sandra Girl Stamp by Picket Fence Studios, Random Dots Stencil by Picket Fence Studios, Copic Coloring, Distress Oxide Ink, Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence StudiosAfter I was done coloring, I used Distress Oxide ink on watercolor paper with the Random Dots Stencil for a pretty background.  The butterfly is from the original Sandra too.

I hope you enjoy this card.  Hop over to the Picket Fence Studios blog for more and for lots of inspiration from the design team each week.  Until next time, wishing a safe Memorial Day weekend (if you celebrate) full of thanks and remembrance.

Freshly Made Sketches #389

Another amazing sketch today from Freshly Made Sketches!!  No surprise that there is a tendency towards florals this week with our lovely sketch designer Narelle in charge.  Let’s face it, she is the queen of a gorgeous floral card!  Who am I to buck the trend?!  So I chose a brand new set that I just got from Altenew called Weekend Doodles.  I love the whimsical style of the flowers and wreaths of the set.

FMS389 by Jen Timko | Weekend Doodles Stamp Set and Dies by Altenew, Copic Coloring I chose the smaller floral and did a bit of Copic coloring on the image using some purples and a pretty sage green.  To stay truer to the sketch, I used a stitched circle and put the flowers up on the circle.  Look at that, following the sketch….you knew it had to happen eventually!!

FMS389 by Jen Timko | Weekend Doodles Stamp Set and Dies by Altenew, Copic ColoringTo play off of the green of the leaves, I chose a pale green (from my SU stash) that coordinated beautifully.  For the sentiment, I stamped one from the same set but then used the Cut Align (My Sweet Petunia) to cut only the part I wanted for the sketch.  This is a new to me tool and I’m already addicted to it!  Finally, I added a few sequins to finish.

This week’s sketch is one that is easy to use and such fun too.  I hope to see you in the gallery!!  Thank you so much for stopping in today!  See you soon!

As promised, I’m back to share another card I made for the May release from Picket Fence Studios and it does double duty with the newest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  This versatile design by Karren Johnson is fabulous and I could not resist using the new Poppy Blossoms stamp and dies with it.

FMS388 by Jen Timko | Poppy Blossoms Stamp Set and Dies by Picket Fence Studios, Copic ColoringThis new flower set has so many options and ways to use it.  You already know that I can’t resist a flower but it is even better when a set has lots of image choices.  I stamped the single flower and then colored using Copic Markers to give a pop of red.  I did keep some light space to help show off the pretty details of the image itself.  Once it was colored, I cut it out using the coordinating die for the focal point of the sketch.

FMS388 by Jen Timko | Poppy Blossoms Stamp Set and Dies by Picket Fence Studios, Copic ColoringI chose one of the smaller flowers as the side “circles”.  I masked off the stem a bit with a sticky not and then stamped it twice on Neenah Desert Storm paper.  The sentiment comes from an older set called Unicorn Friends.  Pretty font, isn’t it?  I kept the card really neutral to show off that bold flower and simply added a few sequins.Just a reminder if you did not see it yesterday….  There is a celebration sale going on at Picket Fence Studios.  All you have to do is click here:  Picket Fence Studios Sale and enter the code PFS20 and you will get 20% off your order.  Additionally, I have a $100 Gift Certificate to give away.  It is an instagram giveaway so go over there to my page (jentimko) to see the details.  I hope you enjoy this and have a moment to join in our challenge this week.  Thanks for stopping in.  See you soon!
