SugarPea Designs – August Release Day

Welcome to Release Day for SugarPea Design! I love Release Day. I have one final card to share. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

I chose to combine some sets that I think you already fell in love with, based on comments. Using one of the leaf images from the Beautiful Books stamp set, I created a wreath. Then I added some of the berry elements from the same set. So easy, so fun, and really stretches the set. Another of the amazing sentiments from Autumn Blessings is the center focal point. The fabulous Autumn Background creates the perfect subtle detail on the card base.

SugarPea Designs – August Sweet Peek Week Day 4

Welcome to day 4 of the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week! I am so excited about the products I get to show you this week! Today is the final day of reveals and we have the Let’s Stay Home set with coordinating SugarCut dies and the Torn Strips Stencil. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

When I saw this stamp set, the first thing I thought of was to make a card where you “entered” the room. So for the front, I created a way to do that. I started with a basic gate fold and the added a door made with elements from the set. The frame turned into the door windows, the book into a mail slot. I used the lamps as intended and the plant is my secret to keeping the door closed. It tucks behind the edge of the plant.

When you open the door, I have this inside. I colored many of the elements from the set and even used the frame as an actual frame here by adding the little flower and coloring it all up. I cannot even tell you how much fun this is. I’m not a natural scene builder as a stamper and this really has me obsessed. I thought the stencil was a good way to add dimension to the floor so I added a bit of distress ink on some darker card stock. Just the right touch! And let’s face it, this sentiment nails it! Just like at my house, that cat on the chair is the big winner in all this!

Welcome to day 3 of the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week! I am so excited about the products I get to show you this week! There is no stopping this release and today we are featuring two stamp sets, Autumn Blessings and Autumn Background, plus a stand alone SugarCut, Thanks Word with Shadow. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

This card is also for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge with sketch designer Karren. I started by stenciling with Distress Oxide ink onto white card stock. This gave me a great background for the beautiful sentiments from Autumn Blessings. I love this one and thought is was perfect for how I feel about so many things in my life. The image is from the same set. I colored it and then fussy cut it to meet the sketch from FMS.

Welcome to day 2 of the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week! I am so excited about the products I get to show you this week! Up for today is an adorable set called Hey Fall with coordinating SugarCut dies and two stand alone dies, Birch Forest and the Card Front Elements 3 SugarCuts. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

I wanted to focus on this fantastic die and wow, what fun to use! I simply cut it out of white card stock and then created an ink blended panel behind it. I looked for a bit of a fall sky feel. I chose a sentiment from Hey Fall and cut with a Sentiment Strip SugarCut, with an additional strip behind to help the sentiment stand out.

SugarPea Designs – August Sweet Peek Week Day 1

Welcome to day 1 of the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week! I am so excited about the products I get to show you this week! Today is a fabulous start with the Beautiful Books Stamp Set and coordinating SugarCut Dies plus a stand alone Open Book SugarCut Die Set. There is also a GIVEAWAY featured at the bottom of the post.

I started with the idea of combining the products and they work together perfectly. I cut the book with the Open Book SugarCut and then stamped a sentiment from the Beautiful Books stamp set on the page. The book dies layer up easily and I just glued them together at the spine leaving a bit of play in the pages for depth. Then for the decoration.

It doesn’t take much to see where my glasses inspiration came from! And then a few flowers because who doesn’t love flowers?! But this set is loaded with all kind of multitasking images you are sure to find lots of uses for. To add a little detail behind the book, a natural “go-with” set is from the last release called Handwritten Letter.

I am excited to share a card today that I created for the SugarPea Designs blog. You know that I love stencils. And you know what? I’m actually using one to stencil with. I know…crazy.

I started with Simon Says Stamps Fog Gray card stock. It is a pretty and subtle gray. I pulled out the Leaf Canopy Stencil and applied some embossing paste. It give a tone on tone effect that is really pretty. I thought vellum would be a nice complement to the embossing so I cut some with the SugarCut – Stacked Honeycombs.

I chose the sentiment from the SugarCut – Floral Envie set. Such a pretty die! I thought the blue would be a pretty pop off all the pale neutrals. For a little more sparkle, I added some sequins (which conveniently hide some of the adhesive on the vellum) and a bit of silver thread.

Hop over to the SugarPea Designs page for more inspiration! Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon!

We have been leading up to this through sneak peeks and today is August release day from Erin Lee Creative!

I’m going to be honest. I LOVE the look of hand-drawn watercolor. I have taken classes on how to do it but my efforts are always a bit lacking. So enter this Floral Wreath Stencil. I put a bit of Pixie Spray on the back of the stencil and laid it down on watercolor paper. Using the outline, I started laying on Daniel Smith watercolor paints.

All it really takes is patience. Start with light colors and just build as you go. Leave the stencil in place and let the layers dry. I just worked around on different colors while waiting. The stencil contains each design element and helps keep them from becoming a “blob” as you add color…usually my biggest flaw. Once you get the colors like you want, just remove the stencil and all evidence that you didn’t just magically freehand this is gone. To finish, all I wanted was a simple sentiment. I chose one from another new release set called Fall Critters. I chose a gray ink and love how this has a handwritten look to match the coloring.

Prizes: We are giving away three $25 gift certificates to three lucky winners chosen from comments left across all of the blogs participating in this hop. Please leave a comment on any participating blog by Monday, August 24. Three winners will be announced that week on the Erin Lee Creative Blog. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Now on to the rest of the hop! I’m thrilled to send you off to visit the wonderful Michelle McDaniel. Here is the entire team if you get lost along the way.

And wow, am I glad! Thank you all for your continued support of my little stamping world. It makes such a difference in helping me stay positive. A quick share of a card I created for the Mix It Up Challenge #70 from SugarPea Designs. You can go join in and play for a chance to win!

I was inspired by both the sketch and the colors. I love these Cottontail Cuties and thought they’d make a fun scene. It is such a joy to color the little images!

I used the Outdoor Scene Builder Stencil to add a bit of a cloud background and then used my favorite little Sentiment Strips to cut a sentiment from the stamp set.

I hope this brightens your day a bit! Remember to come over and join the fun and earn a chance to win. Have a great day!

I’m super excited to share today’s card with you. Of course it all started with a great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. So many do! This week’s sketch designer is my dear friend Jen Brum and I love all the potential with this one.

I pulled out a beautiful background stamp from Erin Lee Creative called Sketched Floral Background. It is so wonderful! Even without coloring it is gorgeous. Emboss it, watercolor it and for me, Copic color it. I chose my R80s (R81, R83, R85, R89) for the flowers and G20s (G20, G21, G24, G28) for the greenery. It is a joy to color! Once the panel was colored, I debated a few ways to complete the sketch. I finally decided that vellum was the answer. The sentiment is a bit of a sneak peek of an upcoming release from Erin Lee Creative. Couldn’t resist using it!

I hope you will enjoy this sketch as much as I did. Make sure you go over and see the inspiration from the team. Beautiful cards! Thanks for stopping in today. See you tomorrow with a card for SugarPea Designs.

Happy middle of the week! Honestly I’m glad for the Wednesday challenge to help me keep track of the days right now. The oh so talented Kim Singdahlsen is our sketch designer at Freshly Made Sketches this week and this one is such a classic.

In fairness to Kim, I truly started on a path of following the sketch completely. But sometimes designing goes a different path. I think I stayed true enough to the intent at least. I thought a Halloween card was just what I needed to shake it up. And what could be more fun that this Trick or Treaters Stamp Set by Picket Fence Studios. I just love these sweet images! I colored the adorable witch and her, um, friend with Copic Markers. Then using the Outdoor Scene Builder Stencil from SweetPea Designs, I inked the grass. I added a bit of a purple sky and used the same stencil for the stars. I had a couple of great sentiment choices but this one made me smile when used with this little cutey.

I hope you’ll come over and play with us this week. The team has created such wonderful inspiration, as they do each week. Thank you for stopping in today. I’m always grateful for the chance to share with you. Have a great rest of your week.
