Hello friends! Glad you stopped by today I’m happy to share a card for Freshly Made Sketches but first…a question for you. Recently I asked you all about the links at the bottom of my posts and was grateful for your thoughts. But now, I’m considering saying goodbye to this blog. I know, for some, you do not do social media and this is the way you see what I create. But truthfully, I’m not even sure you are seeing my posts. My mail service has started charging fees and I cannot tell if you are still getting my posts or for how long you will. (Note: If you see this in an email, I’d appreciate you letting me know) The blog as I have it set up cost more than I can ever make in running it. I pay for the domain, the access to WordPress and the layers of security. Nostalgia has been the only real reason to hold on with 15 years of cards, thoughts and sharing. But it seems blogs are going away as a whole. Before I just cut it off, I’d like to hear your thoughts to make sure I’m not missing something. Will you please drop me a comment or note to let me know what you think? Thank you!

Now on to my card for this week. The lovely Amy O’Neill is our designer this week and came up with one that is super clever. I immediately thought it might be fun to use die cuts so that is the direction I took.

I started with the Lovely Layers: Spring Greenery and Lovely Layers: Dianthus dies from Honey Bee Stamps. Using the Bitty Bunny Blending Brushes from The Rabbit Hole Designs, I inked them up with Distress Inks in a multitude of colors. My lighting on these photos is kind of meh but the greens have more variety in person (thunderstorms rolled in and I had to rely on my craft room lights instead of daylight).

I didn’t want to cover up all the inking so opted for a vellum piece and added a sentiment on top. That allowed me to have attachment points under the sentiment that remain invisible. With the size of the elements, I didn’t want to have to cut them down so I made a 5″x7″ card instead. Kind of fun to work with the bigger space. I did some embossing in the background with the Sandie’s Garden folder and inked the edges just a bit for contrast. A few pearls and done!

Thanks again for stopping in today. I appreciate all of you so much! As I figure out what to do with this blog, just know that I want to maximize the making and sharing part while minimizing the admin and cost part. Hope you have a lovely week!

Hi everyone! I just got back from a week of vacation with my family so I’m doing the catch up game. I did have a few minutes to make a card for today’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches and sort of, kind of followed the fabulous sketch by Karren Johnson. She is the forgiving type so I’m sure she will let me stay!

I used die cuts from the Lovely Layers: Spring Greenery set for this and just smooshed some Distress Inks onto the already cut greenery. This seems to be my go-to when I’m pressed for time and don’t have the brain space to actually color things. And it always makes me happy!

For the background, I used some Distress Oxide ink in Tumbled Glass and then spritzed on some Distress Spray Stain in the same color. I thought the Rustic Brick Wall 3D Embossing Folder would be pretty on the panel and I am glad my instincts were right. Love this texture!! For the sentiment, I used one from the Lean on Each Other Stamp set and put in on one of the “Free Bee” dies (October 2024) from Honey Bee Stamps. I love the fun gifts they send with orders! Finally a bit of crinkled ribbon and some confetti.

I hope this finds you well and not frozen! We returned to a pretty good snow event in Virginia and I must admit, I was happy to see the pretty landscape when I woke up this morning. Thanks for stopping in. Have a great week!

Hello everyone! Well, the last few weeks have been all that I promised…busy! But we got the youngest graduated from high school (and I didn’t fall apart), I got to see the oldest’s regatta and we went on a family vacation. Now I’m trying to get back to reality and out on a trip. We have a beautiful sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches from the lovely Amy O’Neill.

A bit of a simple take to get back into the groove (and to actually get it made). I was inspired by some beautiful flowers I saw when we were on vacation in Seattle. I think they are lupines but if you know differently, please let me know (photo below)! Using some paper that already had some Distress Ink stamping and splatters, I cut out the flowers and greenery. I added more Distress Ink for shading and character.

I chose a some pretty papers from the Grain and Grunge plus Vintage Love packs by Honey Bee Stamps and then added a sentiment from my go-to set, Mini Messages. I opted for gold embossing and added a few gold pearls to go along. A Captain that has led the way for many women is retiring this month so I thought it would be nice to make her a special card.

I hope this finds you well and starting to enjoy a bit of summer. As you can imagine, this is the beginning of the busy work season for me. I’ll create as much as I can but also I’m trying to hold on to every moment with my youngest before he heads out to college in August. Thanks for always being so supportive!

I showed a closeup of the flowers but there was a whole field of these. It was glorious! Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon!
