Hi everyone! Busy week for posts this week but I am thrilled to share today’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Our wonderful Amy O’Neill has a sketch that will open up all kinds of creative opportunities!
I knew immediately that I wanted a “border” style image and then I came across this Shake Your Tail Feathers stamp from Picket Fence Studios! PERFECT! Using my Misti, I stamped it on a card base and again on another panel. On the top panel, I just colored with Copic Markers and played with shading on my greens and teals. Such fun! I cut the panel down and then chose a sentiment for the crossing panel from the same set.
I hope you enjoy this take on the spotlight technique and will have some creative time to join us this week. I’ll be back on Friday for a new project for Honey Bee Stamps (and a hop!). See you soon!
It didn’t take me but a glance at the inspiration to know that I needed to pull out the Beautiful Books Stamp Set and Dies. After stamping and cutting, I started playing with the layout a bit. I realized that I needed a die cut sentiment so the Card Front Element Builder III dies have this great “hello” that seemed just right.
Then it hit me that the strips from the same die set would be perfect for the sketch. Not that I can’t cut a rectangle but something about the perfection of a die cut makes it simpler. All I had left to do was attach everything to a kraft base. I love it when it works out that way!
Thanks so much for stopping in today. I hope you have fun playing along with these challenges too. Remember the SPD Mix has a chance to win! Back on Friday. Until then, have a great week.
Happy Wednesday! I am excited to be back today to share a card made for two challenges. I combined this week’s Freshly Made Sketches sketch with the inspiration from the SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge #75. I love the sketch designed by the lovely Jen Brum and it opened up some fun opportunities to play with new products.
I started it all by inking up Bristol card stock with Picked Raspberry and Candied Apple Distress Ink. I used my new Block Alphabet SugarCut Dies to cut the word LOVE. I added a few hearts from different SugarCut sets (Piece of Cake and Vintage Telephone) on the same run through.
I created a perfect framing layer using two new SugarCut basics. The Stitched Rectangles and Stitched Scalloped Rectangles work together perfectly. I added to the sentiment using a sentiment from Flurry of Warm Wishes and then cut it with the Sentiment Strips SugarCut dies. To add a bit more texture, I used the new Cute Heart Stencil for embossing the base.
Thanks so much for stopping in today! I hope you will play along with both of these challenges this week. A reminder that the Mix It Up challenge has a chance to win. See you again Friday!
As we approach the end of the year, I am happy to share with you the last sketch of 2020 from Freshly Made Sketches. I am the sketch designer and I hope it is one you will enjoy over the next few weeks.
To be very honest with you, I am really behind on Christmas cards. I probably will have a seriously curtailed mailing this year but I think we all just have to pick what gives. When I designed this sketch, I had another stamp configuration in mind but I thought this set was too good to pass up! Pretty much ignored the sentiment placing on my own sketch. Yep, a 2020 move for sure.
I pulled out the Sparkle and Shine Kit from Gina K Designs. I love this snowflake and decided to heat emboss it and one of the coordinating sentiments. But which color? Clearly, I could not decide so I just made three of them. I used three of the colors from Gina K’s Glitter Card Stock as accents and then three colors of Wow Embossing Powder.
Since gold was my youngest son’s favorite, I thought I’d show it a bit closer. As always with metallics and glitter, it is hard to capture all that you see in person. The key to the “production line” on this was dueling MISTIs. I had one set up with the snowflake and one with the sentiment. I stamped them each with Versamark and then added the embossing powder, then heated. Once I had it set up, making multiples was the obvious choice.
I hope you will have some time for crafting over the next few weeks. This sketch will remain open until January 4th so come over and play along. I’m off to finish a few more cards and then I’ll be moving on with some new things for the new year. Thank you so much for stopping in. Please remain safe! See you soon.
Happy Thanksgiving Week to those of you in the US! I hope you are all safe, first and foremost! While this is not the holiday many of us want, I pray for us all to stay vigilant and follow whatever best guidance you have for your area. If nothing else, I hope that you have a bit of down time and time to craft. Our new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches is fun for using your papers or maybe even some other elements. The lovely Amy O’Neill is the sketch designer so of course it is fun!
I continued playing with the Gina K Designs Sparkle and Shine Kit and used the Holiday Tapestry Stamp Set from the kit. The rectangle stamp had such a pretty design that I thought it would be nice for the panels under the sentiment. I also love that this set has a Hanukkah stamp. I didn’t have one in my repertoire and so happy I do now.
So glad you stopped in today. I am so incredibly thankful for each of you!
Happy middle of the week! Here with our weekly challenge from Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch designer is Narelle Farrugia and this one is really fun. Go read about her inspiration for the sketch too…I love how we can be inspired to create by so many things.
If any of you have ever tried to get good photos of glitter and embossing, you are now feeling my pain! *smile* This card is all about shimmer and shine and my camera just cannot capture it in its full glory. But you get the idea. I used products by Gina K Designs today. The Double Stitched Squares were my logical starting place for the sketch and then I went all in on the Sparkle and Shine Kit. The snowflakes dies come from the kit and I used them on gold Glitter Card Stock. The sentiment is from the Holiday Tapestry set from the kit. I stamped it in Versamark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
I hope you will come over and join us this week. It is always such a joy to scroll through the gallery looking at your beautiful creations. Thanks for stopping in today! See you soon.
I’m up on the SugarPea Designs blog today playing with the Mix It Up Challenge #73 and I combined it with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The sketch from Karren really opened up lots of options and I knew just what I wanted to do.
I thought the colors were perfect for a little fall wreath so I created one using the lovely elements from the SugarCut – Open Book dies. A bit of twine created the wreath.
To make the sketch panel feature, I used the Outdoor Scene Builder Stencil and sponged on Tuxedo Black Momento Ink. The sentiment comes from the Beautiful Books Stamp Set.
Thanks for stopping in today. I hope you’ll join me for both of these fun challenges. Have a wonderful day!
We have a wonderful new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches today from our wonderful designer Judy Rozema. I love the big banner shape and lots of great ideas immediately came to mind.
I fell in love with the Sparkle and Shine Kit from GinaK Designs the moment I saw it. And this particular stamp set was one I could not wait to get my hands on. I opted to use the round ornament image and embossed in silver. Perfect for the sketch and so pretty! I layered on a sentiment from the set and then….. Yes, I added GinaK’s Glitter Card Stock.
This is such a different kind of glitter paper! It has all the sparkle but is almost “sealed” if that makes sense. No shedding of the glitter whatsoever. Perfect from someone like me who likes the looks but can’t stand the mess.
I hope you enjoy this card and will come over to play with our sketch this week. Thanks so much for stopping in. See you tomorrow with a new card for SugarPea Designs.
Another week has flown by and I’m busy getting used to combining flying and stamping again. But I have a quick card for you using the latest from Freshly Made Sketches. Our wonderful Kim Singdahlsen has created a unique and fun sketch.
I kept it pretty straight to the sketch and tried to just focus on the shimmer and shine of glitter paper. The fabulous sentiment die is the Happy Word SugarCut and I used its coordinating stamp set, Happy Thoughts.
The background texture is an old Stampin’ Up embossing folder.
I hope you will enjoy playing along with us this week. Lots of fabulous inspiration from the team, as always. Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!
Happy Wednesday! I am happy to be back with this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. Our ever so wonderful and witty Linda Callahan is the sketch designer this week and this one is great for all of you who love layers.
I decided to go all in on fall and pulled out this Leafy Layers die set by Concord and 9th. I love all the leaves, the banner, the options! Using some old patterned paper from my apparently never-ending stash, I opted for plaid and textures. The effect from cutting the outline and the solid die from the same print surprised me with its “just right” pop. I love how you can die cut a sentiment into the banner and thought that just a bit of the pattern peeking through would add a nice detail. Best of all, cards like this are easy to make and put together in bulk.
I hope you have as much fun with this one as I did. Lots of room to play with colors and textures, stamped images or none at all! Come on over and join us. Back tomorrow with a new card for SugarPea Designs. See you then!
