Happy Monday to you!!  First thing…if you have not entered the giveaway from the Artisan Design Team, today is the last day.  Don’t miss out on the chance that the whole team is offering to win products from Stampin’ Up!

Now, happy Monday to you!  I am back with my last week of being a guest with the Merry Monday team.  Wow, this month flew by!  Kristie has a fun challenge today and you are sure to have fun with it!

MM106 - Merry Gingerbread

So you know what I found when I started searching for gingerbread men in my stamps?  Nothing, nada, zilch.  Not really sure how that happened but I went right back to My Digital Studio (MDS) for the solution.  I know so many people think of scrapbooking and full digital projects with MDS but it can also just be used for individual pieces of an otherwise traditional project.  I chose the gingerbread man from Jolly Bingo Bits and expanded him to the size I wanted.  Then started to decorate him.  The buttons are from Christmas Jingle, the little dots are from Meant to Be and I put color fills behind some of the open areas of the stamp.  This is all so quick and easy to do.  I printed him out on Whisper White Card Stock and cut him out by hand.

Once he was done, I just needed the rest of the card.  Jolly Holiday DSP was an old favorite of mine and I am trying to use up some DSP (to make way for the new catalog!!).  These prints seemed perfect to back up my little man.  I created a tag with the Angled Tag Topper Punch.  The sentiment banner was made using a Merry Christmas stamp from Bright Hopes (ret).  I stamped the word and cut it apart.  It is attached to the Linen Thread with rolled up Glue Dots.  I distressed and sponged the edges of all the layers with Crumb Cake ink and I’m pretty happy with the result.

So no excuses not to play along with the challenge this week!  MDS will help you along if you don’t have just the right stamp!  The Merry Monday DT has created some wonderful examples so make sure you go check them out!

Back tomorrow with the winner from my giveaway and a bonus project for the month from the Artisan Design Team.  Can’t wait to see you then!

As a side note, I get to go to the reveal of Stampin’ Up’s new catalog tonight.  I am so excited I can hardly stand it.  Hope to be able to share a few details with you tomorrow!!  Until then, have a great day!

I hope that your Easter weekend was full of family and lots of blessings!!  I had such a wonderful Sunday.  The boys had fun with their baskets, we all went out to a local winery in the afternoon with dear friends and then came home and had a lovely ham dinner with them.  Perfect!

This week’s challenge at Merry Monday is super fun and lends itself to all kinds of creativity!  There are so many ways to decorate letters!

MM105 - Holly Jolly

I have to confess that I was a bit pressed for time this week.  I was out on a four day trip and that means no stamping.  Or does it??!!  I had my computer and therefore I had My Digital Studio with me.  So I went in and started thinking about making hybrid card.  Using the Holly Jolly Greetings download I played with the sentiment to get it the right size.    I printed it twice so that I could cut out the little banner.  The background DSP is from the same download and I just printed it off, cut it to size and attached it to a card base.  I tied on some retired grosgrain ribbon and attached a Vintage Faceted Button to it.  The rhinestones on the card and the button were all colored with the new Blendabilities (yes…..I just got them….stand by for more because they are awesome).  The design team has all kinds of fun ways to show off you letter and word stamps/dies.  Hope you’ll play along this week!

Now about that retired stuff….  Today is the day.  The Stampin’ Up Retirement List is out and everything is available only as supplies last.  You need to move fast!!!  Check out the list by clicking here:  Stampin’ Up Retirement List

Back tomorrow with the latest Artisan Wednesday Wow and BLOG CANDY!!!  Come back to get all the details!

Happy beginning of the week to you all!!  I hope that your weekend went well.  I’m back from my training/check with United and ready for some more crafty goodness this week!  Engine failures, electrical issues, hydraulic/flight control issues….all kinds of “fun” in the simulator for three days is enough to drive me running back to my stamp room.  But my check went really well.  It is always good to have that done (until the next one in 9 months).  Ok…enough about that and on to stamping.

Don’t you LOVE the colors for this week’s Merry Monday Challenge??  I was smitten the second I saw them!

MM104 - Christmas Celebration

Do you recognize the papers on this card?  No??  They are from the Calypso Coral Celebration Add-On Kit.  Yes they are!  As I was shuffling around looking for the right papers, they were sitting right on my desk.  They work so well together of course since they are from the same kit. The stamp is a favorite of mine from the last Holiday Catalog, Merry Little Christmas.  I stamped it on Whisper White.  I first inked it in Crumb Cake and then used a sponge dauber to apply Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint on top (retired).  It adds a pretty sparkle that was hard to capture with a camera.

MM104- Closeup

The stamped words were punched out with my 2-1/2″ Circle Punch and backed with a scalloped circle from the Perfect Pennants Die.  I added some Baked Brown Sugar Ruffled Trim for additional shimmer and texture.  That trim is so pretty and perfect at the bottom of panels!  Finally, a Vintage Faceted Button with Linen Thread and some random Pearls.

I hope you will play along with the challenge this week.  The design team there has provided some amazing inspiration so make sure you take a look!

So guess what??!!  I get to be the Featured Designer on Merry Monday Challenge for the month of April.  Totally great, right?!  Well, it is even better because we get to use snowmen this week. Fantastic theme, don’t you think?

MM103 - Season of Snow

I had to pull out one of my favorite snowmen sets, Snow Much Fun.  I think these guys are, well, so much fun.  I stamped him on Whisper White in Early Espresso Ink.  Then watercolored using a Blender Pen with Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.  Using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, I created the tag and tied it up with Crumb Cake Seam Binding and Linen Thread.  The paper is from the retired Season of Style.  I think this print is fantastic and was glad to still have some on hand.  The corners on the tag and the card are rounded using the Envelope Punch Board.

It was a nice change of pace to create a Christmas card this time of year and I can’t be happier to be a part of this great challenge all month.  I hope you’ll join me and the team for the challenge!

Back tomorrow with my latest Artisan Wednesday Wow project.  Until then, I hope the day is wonderful!

FM141- Dahlia On Film

FM141- Dahlia On Film published on 4 Comments on FM141- Dahlia On Film

I had a little extra time to play today so I joined in with the team over at The Friday Mashup.  They have a fun sketch and a theme of “Tic, Tock”.  Hmmm….

fm141I had to really think about the theme and I’m pretty sure I stretched it right to the limit but hey, it is for fun right?  I think about photos capturing moments in time and the new On Film Framelits make anything look like a photo.

FM141 - Dahlia On FilmI chose one of my favorite flowers to “capture” and used the fun prints from the Kaleidescope DSP to complete the look.  Yep, I love that black and white striped paper and it makes for a fun frame, don’t you think?  The Bermuda Bay polka dots add a little touch of whimsy and of course I need some buttons to finish it off.  The flower and the sentiment are from Regarding Dahlias (a set from the main catalog that I just love).  So did I stretch the theme too much?!  At least I followed the sketch, lol!

So glad I got a little extra time to play this weekend.  The weather here in Virginia is drippy and cold today…a perfect day for stamping and watching some football.  Tomorrow is my BIG football day though.  I went to Florida State University and will be cheering on my Seminoles tomorrow night in the BCS Championship!  Go ‘Noles!!

Hope the weekend has been great for you.  My kids are back to school tomorrow and I have two new projects to share with you on Tuesday night and Wednesday.  Can’t wait!  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  If you have any questions about the new Occasions Catalog, just let me know!  It really is fun!  Until Tuesday night, have a great start of your week.

FabFri25 – Dahlia Thank You

FabFri25 – Dahlia Thank You published on 4 Comments on FabFri25 – Dahlia Thank You

I actually got the time to stamp “just because” today!!  Yea!!!  I am on call for United but so far no call which meant STAMPING!!  I just knew I wanted to join my friends over at Fab Friday for their awesome sketch.

FabFri25 - Dahlia Thank You

I have been looking at this flower from Regarding Dahlias since the catalog came out and I am so happy that I finally got it!  It is fun with this graphic chevron print from the Witches’ Brew DSP.  Yes…it is Halloween paper but great that I can use it for a non- Halloween card.  The flower is stamped in Real Red and the sentiment is from the same set.  Pretty simple card to make but it makes me happy.  I stamped a flower on the inside too as you can see.

Fab Fri Logos025Make sure you head over to visit the challenge.  Some of my very favorite stampers are on the team!  There is still time to play along too.

I hope you like this “bonus” card this week.  I am still adjusting to the fact that both the Artisan Design Team and FMS post on Wednesdays (although ADT does go up on Tuesday night).  I am trying to figure out a way for my email subscribers to get them as separate posts so you don’t miss anything.  There is a trial of a change this week so if things look different, that is why.  I would love to hear what you think and what is best for you!

I hope your Labor Day holiday has been safe and fun!  See you again on Tuesday night!

FabFriday 19 – A Plane for Dad

FabFri19 - Father's Day

Guess what??!!  I got some extra stamping time yesterday!!  Well, in reality I had to MAKE some extra stamping time since I needed to get a few things done.  I finished up teacher gifts and then wanted to make something special for my husband for Father’s Day.  He does so much for our family and supports my stamping (albeit with funny songs about Stampin’ Up that all the boys sing) so the least I could do was make the man a nice card.

Fab Fri Logos-019The team over at Fab Friday have this great sketch that I really wanted to try.  I just love it!  Apparently I was strongly influenced by their sketch colors too, lol!  I have a retired set that I have held onto because it is so perfect for our family.  I hope my DH doesn’t get tired of Plane & Simple because he seems to get cards made with it more often than not.  I thought the designs from the Epic Day DSP were perfect to go with the line art of the airplane.  The lined print kind of reminds me of an old flight log.  The Pool Party print is mostly covered but I love that there are descriptive words on it!!  I thought that some Vintage Trinkets and a retired clip were the perfect accessories to this distressed looking card.

Now I really will be back tomorrow with another Father’s Day card.  I’m so glad you could stop by today and I hope you have a great one!  See you tomorrow!

Stamps:  Plane & Simple, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Epic Day DSP, Crumb Cake, Basic Gray; Ink:  Basic Gray; Accessories:  2-1/2″ Circle Punch, Vintage Trinkets, Mini Library Clip (ret),  Stampin’ Distress Tool, Dimensionals

SUOC69 – Epic Butterflies

SUOC69 – Epic Butterflies published on 3 Comments on SUOC69 – Epic Butterflies

Our theme this week over at SUO Challenges is Anything Sizzix from Stampin’ Up.  Wow…where does one start??  Well I needed a design for swaps at the Regionals in Baltimore and I knew I wanted to use the new Epic Day DSP so I went from there.

SUOC69 - Baltimore Swap CardI think the papers in that set are so beautiful and I love this Daffodil Delight design.  For some reason it said “butterfly” to me so I used my Beautiful Butterflies Die to create this fellow.  I used another lined print to add a smaller layer.  The Flower Trim is so pretty as centers on the butterflies so I dyed some with Daffodil Delight to match the Seam Binding.  To add a little dimension to the card, I chose this zigzag pattern for a crossing panel.  I scored on either side of it then used my Piercing Tool with the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack.  The bow is a shabby bow made from the beautiful Daffodil Delight Seam Binding.  Funny, I don’t normally think of this sunny yellow for a vintage card but I think it works well here.  As you can see, I made a few of these for my swaps and I received some fabulous cards in return.

I have a small announcement to make with regards to SUO Challenges.  This will be my last challenge with them as a design team member.  I have had such an amazing time being on a team with such awesome talent.  Truly, these stampers are some of the best!  I am grateful for the opportunity they have provided to be in their company and look forward to continued inspiration from them (and their new team members!).

I am so glad you dropped by today.  I look forward to hearing your thoughts on my Epic Butterflies!  Hope your day is wonderful!

SUOC68 – An Ode to Baja Breeze

SUOC68 – An Ode to Baja Breeze published on 5 Comments on SUOC68 – An Ode to Baja Breeze

Our theme this week at SUO Challenges is Monochomatic Cards so I thought that it was the perfect excuse to show you a card that is all about Baja Breeze.  Yes, it is retiring…sigh….and I know I will have a new favorite in no time but for now, here it is.

SUOC68 - Ode to BajaI started with the beautiful hydrangea from the Best of Flowers set (Best of March).  I love this flower!  The background paper is from Storytime DSP.  Both the notebook paper design and the Baja Breeze design are from that set.  Yes, I know that it is technically supposed to be Pool Party but it really looks like Baja Breeze to me.  I wrapped the blue layer with some Naturals Ribbon (held over from the Holiday Catalog) and then tied on a shabby bow made from the Baja Breeze Seam Binding.  Some Basic Pearls are the finishing touch.

I can’t wait to see what you create this week.  Also, I would like to bid a fond farewell from the SUO Challenges team to my friend Heidi Baks.  She is so incredibly talented and I have loved being inspired by her!!

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you again soon!

SUOC67- Spring (?)

SUOC67- Spring (?) published on 7 Comments on SUOC67- Spring (?)

Well, I’d love to tell you that spring is in the air but frankly, all I see right now is snow…again.  I am ready to plant my garden and enjoy spring things but not yet.  At least not outside.  The good news is that SUO Challenges is celebrating spring so I’m sure that will make me much happier!!

SUOC67 - Spring FlowersI thought it would be fun to use some spring flowers for my card and what better than this awesome stamp from the Best of Flowers set?  I may be one of the only people who didn’t own this stamp when it originally came out so I was really excited to see it in the “Best of ” series.  I particularly love the size of it!  I inked it up with Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade, then I spritzed it with water to help the colors run together a bit.  I spritzed the sentiment too to make it match.  I love this technique and haven’t used it in a while. I think it works well for stamps like this one and I’m happy with the watercolor look!  I pulled out some old more recent Sale-a-bration offerings with the ribbon and the button.  These products are the gift that keep on giving and I love that they go so well with the print from Tea for Two DSP.

Fab Fri Logos-012The colors for today’s card come from the Fab Friday Challenge.  Aren’t they pretty??!!  The card is a CASE (copy and share everything) of myself and it is based on this card.  Why did I CASE myself??  Because I was chosen as the Featured Stamper over at Splitcoaststampers this week and I thought it would be fun to play along with the challenge.

I certainly hope that you have a little bit of spring where you are but if not, just create a little in your craft area!!  The design team has some amazing examples and I know you will be inspired to join in!

Back tomorrow with the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon!

Stamp:  Best of Flowers (March), Petite Pairs; Paper:  Tea for Two DSP, Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade, Very Vanilla; Ink:  Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade; Accessories:  SAB 2012 Ribbon, SAB 2013 Button, Dimensionals
