Watercolor Drummer

I told you a few post ago when I was coloring this adorable little drummer boy that my oldest son was a bit put out that I had made the drummer blonde like his brother.  So the other day I had some time to color while he was home.  He colored one version of himself and I colored another.  This is the one I ended up with!  I used my new Tim Holtz Distress Inks to create the background and my Zig Clean Color Markers for the images.  Super fun and pretty quick too!  I cut the image sheet with my Stitched Rectangles from Simon Says Stamps (I’m addicted to these dies) and then embossed the base (Night of Navy) with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  My oldest gave it his thumbs up of approval!!

Quick post…still recovering from the 3 days of simulator madness.  Fortunately it all went well and I’m good to go for another 9 months.  Back next week with some more fun.  Until then, thanks for stopping in!

Stamp:  Drummer Boy (WPlus9); Ink:  Black WPlus9 Pure Color Dye Ink, Versafine Onyx Black, Zig Clean Color Markers, Tim Holtz Distress Ink; Paper: Fabriano Watercolor, Night of Navy; Accessories: Big Shot, Drummer Boy Dies(WPlus9), Stitched Rectangles (SSS), Zig Water Pen, Dimensionals, Softly Falling Embossing Folder (SU)

FMS211- Drummer Boy

Wow, where did the week go??!!  Back to Wednesday and another new challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.  This week, our sketch hostess is the incredible Karren Johnson and I love what she gave us to work with this week!

I pulled out my Drummer Boy set from WPlus9 again and played with a different set of colors.  I tried to pare down the colors into gray and red to help keep this clean.  I used my Copic Markers to color the drummer boy and his little friend.  I was going to grab a sheep again but my oldest told me that the poor donkey needed some love.  Kind of cracked me up and who was I to argue?!  I used the coordinating dies to cut the boy and his friend.  Then I used my 2-1/2″ Circle Punch to pop out the partial circle from Thick Whisper White card stock.  I added Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper behind it (wish you could see it in person….so much prettier!).  I added some Silver Thread and used a sentiment from the same stamp set to finish the sketch.

I think that you will have such fun with this sketch!  So many ways to go with it!!  The team certainly used it creatively and I know you’ll be in awe, as always.

Back on Friday with a fun card using some coloring I did last week.  Until then, thanks for stopping in!!

I got some extra time to stamp yesterday and thought it would be fun to join in at CAS(E) this Sketch.  I love the angle of the sentiment in the sketch and was looking through my stamps to see what would work well.  I got this awesome set called Twenty Fifteen as a bonus when I made an order from WPlus9.  The sentiments are so fun and I just love the triangles.  I layered and stamped the triangles using Blackberry Bliss and Daffodil Delight ink and then stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow.  By happy accident, I found out that White Perfect Accents from SU can become clear by removing the backing….I love them as clear for this so that is what I did.  The panels were cut using the Stitched Rectangles Dies from Simon Says Stamps.

Little Drummer Boy

Drummer Boy

You know sometimes you see a stamp set that really speaks to you, that is how I felt when I saw this adorable little set from WPlus9 called Drummer Boy.  My boys, particularly my youngest, love the song Little Drummer Boy.  We tend to play it over and over and I don’t get tired of hearing them sing along.  Needless to say, I had to order this right away and my first drummer boy is created in the image of my youngest.  Don’t think for a minute that the oldest isn’t put out and asking for his version.  I’m working on it for sure.  I stamped the images onto SU Thick Whisper White paper using Momento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Using my Copics, I colored the images.  Then I simply cut them out using the companion dies to the stamp.  I cut the the layers using the Stitched Rectangle die (SSS) and Border Builders die (Li’l Inkers).

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it.  Just a fun bonus, here is the card my little one made using the set.  He colored with my markers and added the images to a card base I had left from a card kit last year.  Yeah….I may have used his card for inspiration.  He said it was ok. *smile*  Thanks for stopping in today.  See you tomorrow for the latest from Freshly Made Sketches
