FMS Final 69-001

So glad to have you join me again today for the latest challenge from Freshly Made Sketches!  I am excited to share this sketch by our awesome guest designer Linda Suarez from Lucky Dog Stamper.  This is her first sketch and I know you will have a fun time with all the possibilities!

FMS69 - Big bow 4 youSo I had all kinds of ideas running through my head for this sketch but I finally settle on a big bow for the center shape.  I pulled out the oh so awesome Tea for Two DSP again (I know, I just can’t seem to stop using it).  I love the newsprint design and thought it would work well against the blue pattern.  I had this lace ribbon from the new Artisan Embellishments Kit out on my table from another project and realized that it was a great pop of color for the diagonal.  Now when I was visualizing this sketch,  I thought that two sections of the Tea Lace Doilies would be perfect for the other elements.  I realized that the lower doily is kind of covered by the bow after everything was glued together.  Sooooo….hopefully this will pass for the sketch!  You’ll have to let me know what you think.  The bow was created from the GORGEOUS new Basic Gray/Basic Black 1-1/4″ Two Toned Ribbon.  I cinched it up with a Vintage Faceted Button and some Linen Thread.  Finally I stamped the little sentiment from Tiny Tags onto the center part that was left from cutting apart the doily and punched it with the Jewelry Tag Punch.  I like that the paper is a bit more sheer.  To attach the bow to the card, I used Crystal Effects.  I know it is intended to make things glossy but it also acts as a really strong glue that dries pretty fast.  Cool!

Ok, the team has made some fun things this week.  Such different styles!  I know that means the gallery will be exciting to watch so make sure you play along.

I’ll be back tomorrow with some more information about fun new products from Stampin’ Up.  Until then, I hope you have a great day!

Stamp:  Tiny Tags; Paper:  Tea for Two DSP, Crumb Cake, Basic Gray; Ink:  Primrose Petals, Basic Gray; Accessories:  Basic Gray 1-1/4″ Two Toned Ribbon, Vintage Faceted Button, Linen Thread, Artisan Embellishments Kit, Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Jewelry Tag Punch, Crystal Effects

SUOC62 – These are a few…

SUOC62 – These are a few… published on 2 Comments on SUOC62 – These are a few…

…of our favorite new things!!  Spring Catalog things, that is!!  At SUO Challenges this week, our theme is “New Toys”!  Perfect for the new year, don’t you think?  Now we know that all of you don’t have your new products from the Spring Catalog yet, so if it is new to you, we’d love to see it!

SUOC62 and Control Freaks - BannerI am so excited to finally get to share this card with you.  Finally??  Well, I actually made this back in December for a Control Freaks Spring Catalog swap and have been looking forward to posting it!  My very first, “had to have it” product from this new catalog was the Hearts a Flutter Bundle…yep, the stamp set and the coordinating framelits.  They are so much fun!!  All I did was stamp the images in a little row, line up the framelits (use a small piece of a post-it note to hold them in place), and run them through the Big Shot.  I added in this fun little doily and put some texture on the background with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder.  I thought Linen Thread was the perfect banner holder.  I tied a little loop in one end and put a separately tied bow on the other.  A little sentiment from Tiny Tags and it is a fun little Valentine.  I loved that it uses non-traditional colors!

I can’t wait to hear what you think about this.  I really can’t wait to see what you create for our challenge this week!  I know you’ll love what the rest of the team has created so head right over there to get inspired.

If you didn’t see the fun announcements from yesterday’s post, make sure you roll down to take a look.  I’ll be back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  Until then, I’m so glad you stopped in.  See you soon!

Stamps:  Hearts a Flutter, Tiny Tags; Paper:  Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Calypso Coral; Ink:  Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake; Accessories:  Big Shot, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Honeycomb EF, Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Linen Thread, Mini Glue Dots, Boho Blossoms Punch, Basic Pearls

First, Stampin’ Up is offering a brand new subscription program called My Paper Pumpkin.  What is it??  It is a monthly kit that comes right to your door, ready to make.  I know that sometimes we all run against a time crunch but still value our craft time.  These kits make it possible for you to create “Pin worthy” projects in about 30 minutes.  Wow!!  Take a look!

Freshly Made Sketches #68

Freshly Made Sketches #68 published on 9 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #68

FMS68Welcome to my Freshly Made Sketches post for today!!  Don’t forget to check my other post today for a fun announcement!  Our sketch today is from the oh so amazing Jen Mitchell of I Create.  I just love her style and this sketch is right up her alley!

FMS68 - Honeycomb ThanksI am still completely obsessed with all the new things in the Spring Catalog and today I wanted  to play with the new Honeycomb Embossing Folder.  It is awesome!!  I zipped a Naturals Ivory piece of card stock through the Big Shot with the folder to start.  Then I used some small scraps of the Tea for Two DSP (about 1″ or so square), sat them over the hexagons on the folder and ran those through the Big Shot.  It is easy to follow the lines to cut them out.  I wasn’t so sure I would like this method but it was fast and worked like a charm.  I continue my winter love fest with Crumb Cake (I seem to want to make everything with it!) and it is the perfect background for this DSP.  I used the Natural 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon as one of the layers on the crossing panel and the tied a Bronze button on a second piece with Linen Thread.  The Cotton Ribbon has carried over into the Spring Catalog so it is still available!  Finally a sentiment from Tiny Tags to finish it off.

Jen really gave us a great sketch to use and I can’t wait to see the entries this week.  Last week’s cards just blew me away, I have to say!!  The design team has provided loads of inspiration so make sure to go see their amazing cards.

I’m so glad you stopped in today!  Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you again soon!

Hawaii Ink Spring Hop - Wedding Flowers

I hope you enjoyed the Hawaii Ink Spring Catalog Blog Hop yesterday.  We had such fun sharing with you and we are already planning our next hop…sure to have even more participants!

I am back today to give you a few more details on how to create this wedding card.  You will be amazed at how quickly it comes together…no, really!!  The 5/8″ Flower Trim is so elegant yet so easy to use.  I simply cut two strips of the flowers off of the roll (one with 7 flowers, one with 6 flowers).  I embossed a layer of Very Vanilla card stock using the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  It has carried over from the Holiday Catalog so if you don’t already have it, you NEED it!!  I “framed the embossed layer with another layer of Very Vanilla to give it a little strength since it need to support the flowers.  I stamped a 3/4″ strip of Very Vanilla with the sentiment from Crosses of Hope in Basic Gray and the cut the little flag in the end.  I attached it to the embossed layer first.  Then, I placed some small strips (approximately 1”) of Sticky Strip on the card stock near the edges, pulled off the red protection layer and laid the piece with 7 flowers down.  Next I made a shabby bow using this tutorial from LeAnne Pugliese.  I tied it with a Vintage Faceted Button and some Linen Thread, with the thread knotted in the back.  I topped the button with a Basic Pearl.  Once the bow was completed, I put some more Sticky Strip pieces along the edge of the first flower row and attached the piece with 6 flowers leaving a small space between the two rows of flowers where I wanted the bow.  I then “smooshed” the bow in between the rows onto the Sticky Strip.  The whole embossed panel is attached to the main card base using Dimensionals.

Hawaii Ink Spring Hop - Bow Close Up

Here is a close-up of the bow.  You can see how it is centered in between the two rows.

Thanks so much for dropping back by today.  I have all kinds of fun things coming for you as the week goes on, including a fun announcement.  If you want to make sure you see every post, just subscribe and the ideas will come right to your inbox (it is under the calendar on the right).

I hope you have a great week!  See you soon!

Hawaii Ink Spring Hop-001

Welcome to the first ever Hawaii Ink blog hop!!  We are a group of Stampin’ Up demonstrators in the downline of the fabulous Lisa Curcio and we are so excited to share with you some ideas from the new Spring Catalog.  But first, a little about our group.  Lisa is our team leader and we have about 90 demonstrators that span from Hawaii, to the continental U.S. to Germany.  Many of us are, or have been, associated with the military which explains our great diversity!  There are experienced demonstrators and brand new ones too, and we all share a love of creativity and Stampin’ Up!

Now…on to the hop!  If you have been following along, you came over from Whitney Richardson’s blog, Whitney’s Stampin’ Studio.  Talk about talented…isn’t she wonderful??!!  I decided to share with you another idea for one of my favorite new accessories in the Spring Catalog…the 5/8″ Flower Trim!

Hawaii Ink Spring Hop - Wedding Flowers

I simply love the romantic feel of these flowers and I thought it would be fun to create a card that really shows them off!  I have been using them one at a time on some other cards but the are truly a “wow” when used in bunches.  I added in a shabby bow made of Very Vanilla Seam Binding that has a Vintage Faceted Button at the center.  The sentiment is from one of my favorite stamp sets, Crosses of Hope, and I thought this would be a nice card for weddings that are sure to be coming this spring.

Fab Fri Logo09

My sketch is courtesy of Fab Friday 09.

I know you will want to continue on the hop but make sure you stop back by on Monday to get more details on how I created this card.

I am scheduled as the last stop but if you are starting here or started in the middle, we are linked continuously.  The next stop if you are continuing on is Lisa Curcio’s blog, Lisa Curcio.  I know you will love what she has created to share with you!

Thanks so much for stopping in.  I’ll see you again on Monday!

FMS Final 67-001Happy New Year!!  I am so excited to start off the new year of Freshly Made Sketches as the sketch hostess.  I knew that after all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it would be nice for everyone to work with a basic sketch.  I embellished my sketch with hearts but any shape will do.

FMS67 - ButterfliesI wanted to really focus on the new Tea for Two DSP from the Spring Catalog.  The catalog goes into effect tomorrow (Jan. 3rd) so you will be able to start ordering these amazing products!  I used my Beautiful Butterflies Die and my Beautiful Wings Embosslit to pop out these pretty butterflies.  I love them against this So Saffron print!  I embellished the big butterfly with the new 5/8″ Flower Trim (I cut off just one) and some Basic Pearls.  Some retired Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon was a perfect finishing touch.  The sentiment is from Made for You…still one of my favorites of the new catalog.

I can’t wait to see your interpretation of the sketch this week.  The design team has created some lovely cards and I know you will be so inspired!

I am back on reserve with United today but will be officially on a bit of a break after Friday.  I have some fun new things coming up with the new year and I can’t wait to share them.  Make sure you drop in next week to see the news!  Until then, I’m so glad you came by today.  See you soon!

SUOC61 – Everything Blue

SUOC61 – Everything Blue published on 1 Comment on SUOC61 – Everything Blue

I hope that your week is going well!!  We have a great new theme for you at SUO Challenges this week – Everything Blue.  Let’s face it, blue is the favorite color of so many people and it is fun to focus on one color!

SUOC61 - Thank youI could not hold off any longer.  I just had to pull out more new things from the Spring Catalog.  My “something blue” this week is a sneak peek at some new designer paper called Tea for Two.  All the paper prints on this card are from that set.  The little doily is such a fun way to add texture without bulk and they come in sets of 24.  I cut this one in half then wrapped the edges around the DSP.  Fun, huh??!  A little Linen Thread and a Vintage Faceted Button added just the right vintage touch.  Finally, I stamped a sentiment from Day of Gratitude onto the DSP (the strip and the stamped pieces are front and back side).  I hope you like this quick and sweet little thank you card!  We are now entering the season of the thank you card and I should be able to make a set of these pretty easily for timely mailing!

Thank you, too, to all my readers.  As we approach the end of the year I want you to know that your comments are such a gift to me!!  I appreciate be able to share my love of stamping with you!
