Oh Hello Step Up Cards

Oh Hello Step Up Cards published on 2 Comments on Oh Hello Step Up Cards

I am so excited to share two cards with you today from a workshop I held yesterday.  I had so much fun meeting with some friends and formally introducing them to Stampin’ Up (they have seen things I’ve made but most haven’t stamped with me).  Of course, they fell in love!  Since I know it is easy to get caught up in really hard techniques and layers, I wanted to show them that cards can take as much time as you have to give them.  Some are fun, quick and done.  On others, it is about the luxury of time spent creating them.  The best part….ALL of them are great because they are hand made with love!

Workshop - MayThe card we actually made is this first one.  It uses the Oh, Hello set from the Spring Catalog (which I am really happy to say made the new main catalog too).  We stamped the oval in Daffodil Delight onto a Note Card and then added the flower in Rich Razzleberry.  The sentiment is from the retiring Made for You set and we added on a Rich Razzleberry button.  The button is actually from the Sale-a-bration offerings but with the new buttons coming in the upcoming catalog, I’m using up some supplies.  I need to make sure I mention that stamp set again.  Made for You….retiring…awesome set….get it!!!!  Three little sentiments that have a perfect font with perfect phrases.  Did I mention that you should get it??!!  Ok, on to the second card.

Workshop - May - StepupWe did not make this card yesterday but I wanted to show them that with a little extra time and a few more supplies, you can make the same card with a little more wow!  This time I cut out the oval with the Oval Framelits and my Big Shot then attached a doily behind it.  I stamped the flower, cut it out and attached it so it rests over the edge of the oval.  Finally I added a sentiment banner with a phrase from Teeny Tiny Wishes and a button from the Brights Designer Buttons (also retiring and on sale!).

I love them both and I think they show the flexibility that we stampers have based on time.  It also shows a new stamper that they don’t have to have everything and the kitchen sink to make cute and fun cards.  I had such fun with these that I may make another set just for me (my hostess received these as part of her thank you from me).

As you can see, I am getting back into the routine of stamping that isn’t about the Artisan contest.  My package officially arrived at the home office yesterday and I suspect it will be at least mid-June before there is any news.  I have a fun new card to show you tomorrow and I will be the sketch hostess for Freshly Made Sketches this week.  I also get to meet with my Hostess Club tomorrow and I hope to have more to share from that later in the week.  Until then, thanks for stopping in!  I look forward to hearing what you think of my “step up” cards!  See you soon!

Stamps:  Oh Hello, Made for You, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Note Cards & Envelopes, Whisper White; Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry; Accessories:  Big Shot, Ovals Framelits, Brights Designer Buttons, Sycamore Street Button, Whisper White Baker’s Twine, Tea Lace Doily, Dimensionals, Glue Dots

FMS Final 86-001

I am so happy to share with you the latest from Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our sketch hostess is the amazing Amy O’Neill.  She has come up with a wonderful sketch and I had such fun using it!

FMS86 - Cherry Crumb FlowerI still had the Poetry Prints out on my table from last week’s card and decided to use it again for this one.  I love the Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler!  I pulled out a retired stamp called Reason to Smile because I love this single flower.  Such a pretty impact for such a simple image!  Apparently I didn’t follow directions too well on the bow since I put it on the wrong side but I think it works better here for the image direction.  Finally, I added some little tags with the sentiment.  Don’t forget that the Jewelry Tag Punch is retiring so you need to get it now if you want it!!  Also, these buttons are retiring and the DSP is only available until the end of May.  I made this as an anniversary card since I have lots of them coming up with my family.  I kept to Teeny Tiny Wishes on the sentiments inside and out.

So, Jennifer you ask…what have you been doing and why have you not been posting as much??  I told you that I was making projects that I couldn’t share yet.  Well, they are all done.  Whew!!  I decided to enter Stampin’ Up’s Artisan Award Contest this year for the first time and really have been working hard on the projects.  I had to make 5 cards, 3 scrapbook pages and 2 3-d items to submit.  I really pushed myself and have created to things that I am really proud of.  I’m not sure what will happen next but I do know that the process of entering was great for me.  Everything was mailed out on Monday and now I am busily tracking UPS to see when they arrive in Utah.  Then the wait begins.  Not sure when I will know anything more but the wait will seem really long, I’m sure!!  All of that plus going back to flying this month has made for much chaos at my house!!  Now that my work is done, I can go back to “normal” creating and sharing.  I hope to have more for you in the upcoming weeks (as long as United agrees…*smile*).

Ok….now off to the FMS site to admire all that the design team has created.  Another wow set of inspiration!  I look forward to seeing you in the gallery!  Until then, thanks so much for stopping in and being patient with my lack of posting.  See you again soon!

FMS Final 85-001Wednesday!!!  My favorite day for stamping inspiration!!  This week at Freshly Made Sketches our sketch hostess is the uber-talented Narelle Farrugia and she has created a great one!

FMS85 - Flower for youI knew that I wanted to play with my new Print Poetry Paper Stack that I got at the Baltimore Regionals!  It has some of the  most wonderful designs (and they are only available until May 31st).  I chose a selection of prints containing Midnight Muse and started trying out different things with them.  Fun Flowers seemed like the perfect thing for this sketch so I popped a few out of the polka dot print.  They are perfect against the script background!  In order to add a sentiment I flipped the sketch, put in a couple of flagged pieces and stamped a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Some ribbon and a button finish it off.

I hope that you will join us this week and I can’t wait to see what you create.  As always, the design team has made diverse and fantastic cards to inspire you!!

Well, it has been work, work, work since last Wednesday.  No stamping but lots of flying. Funny story…my Captain on the 4-day trip over the weekend is the husband of another Stampin’ Up demo!  When I figured this out, I’m sure I saw panic in his eyes as I discussed the new catalog (and his wife’s favorites).  I cut the poor man a break and didn’t ask him too many questions.  *smile*  Home for a few days now and trying to catch up.  Stamping NEEDS to be on the agenda but we’ll see.  In the mean time, I’m so glad you stopped in today.  I look forward to hearing what you think about my flower card and to seeing you in the gallery at FMS!

FMS Final 77-001

Happy middle of the week to you!  I am happy to be back with the latest challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.  I am the sketch hostess this week and I hope you like this one.  I designed it with a couple of things in mind.  I thought the sketch would lend itself to using pretty designer papers for the background panels and the smaller rectangle left a perfect place for stamping.  I know that you will find lots of ways to interpret it and I can’t wait to see the gallery!

FMS77 - Flower thanksThe Tea for Two DSP was sitting on my table and calling my name so who was I to say no??!!  I love the pretty prints in the pack!!  What better than to pair it with Oh, Hello!  I really do love this little flower and I inked up only part of the sentiment to fit across the bottom of the panel.  I had this new Natural 7/16″ Trim Ribbon that had not been used yet (the horror!) and I thought it would be a nice compliment to the Natural Ivory paper in the background.  It is a pretty ribbon to use and I think I have some more ideas for it.  I tied it up with some Linen Thread and a Night of Navy button.  The background card stock is Midnight Muse but the button seems to work.

I hope you enjoy working with the sketch this week.  The design team has created some spectacular creations and I’m completely in awe of them!  Make sure you go check them out and then show us your creation!

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  For those who haven’t been here since last week, I did a bit of a redesign of my blog (more info in last Sunday’s post).  Let me know what you think!  See you again soon…have a great rest of your week!

Stamp:  Oh, Hello; Paper:  Tea for Two DSP, Midnight Muse, Naturals Ivory; Ink:  Midnight Muse, Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Gumball Green; Accessories:  Naturals 7/16″ Trim Ribbon, Regals Buttons, Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Birthday Pinwheel and a whole lot more!

Birthday Pinwheel and a whole lot more! published on 10 Comments on Birthday Pinwheel and a whole lot more!

SFF030113 - Pinwheel BirthdayI thought I’d start with the card but I have so much to share with you!  It has been an extraordinary week at Stampin’ Up!!  I needed a birthday card for one of my boys’ best friends and I wanted something special for her.  What better than a little pinwheel??  I love the bright happy colors and prints from Floral District so I thought they would be perfect for this sweet little girl.  I used a little color blocking behind the pinwheel and then chose a piece of DSP that had a coordinating look on both sides.  The little flowers are great peeking out, don’t you think?  The pinwheel is held together with a brad but it seemed to need something else so I added a button on top of it (using a glue dot).  I like that extra little detail!  The sketch is a fun one and it comes from Sketch Frenzy Friday.  Don’t forget to go take a look at all the DT’s designs…they are fabulous!

133385LNow on to all the information from Stampin’ Up!  First, they have introduced a brand new online class called The Basics.  This class offers innovative ways to get the most out of your supplies (from stamps to the Big Shot) with clever tips and all the techniques you need to start creating with success. Divided into six PDF documents this class includes written instructions, step out photos, a few videos, and supply lists for 30+ projects.  It is perfect for the beginning stamper or for one who would like a reminder on great techniques.

Photopolymer StampsYes, it is true…Stampin’ Up is adding a Photopolymer Stamp selection to their product line!  It is starting with this fun and trendy set called Designer Typeset.  The best part?  It is sure to have the quality that Stampin’ Up is known for with the convenience of a clear stamp.  Don’t even get me started on the price.  This set has 57 stamps for only $13.95.  Wow!!

Best of FlowersFinally, with the arrival of March, the next in the “Best of” series has arrived.  This one is Best of Flowers.  These really are gorgeous images and take a look at the new flower (with the pink outline).  It coordinates with the 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle punch.  Awesome!

I know…lots of information!  It really was a great week!  Now I have been subbing at my boys’ school and will be doing so again this week so I won’t have much posting going on.  Of course I will be here on Wednesday for Freshly Made Sketches though.  We also have some great stuff happening over at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Make sure you check into the site on Tuesday for a fun announcement!

I hope you have a great week.  If you have any questions on any of these promotions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!  Thanks so much for dropping in!

Freshly Made Sketches #73

Freshly Made Sketches #73 published on 8 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #73

FMS Final 73-001Now I know what you are thinking when you see this sketch…awesome!!  It is!!  Not only that, it is the first time that my lovely friend Jen Brum of Ladybug Designs has been a sketch hostess.  She has created a fun one and I can’t wait to see the gallery this week!

FMS73 - Birthday flowersAs soon as I saw that big circle, I thought “doily”.  For the second circle, it took me a little longer to figure out what I wanted but the flowers (yes, I am obsessed with them) called out to be used.  These were dyed using a Rose Red reinker.  Once they were dry, I dabbed on a little more Rose Red ink with a Sponge Dauber to get a bit more color intensity.  This is such an easy card to duplicate that I included it in my card class last week and I made a few more to have on hand.  The lovely DSP is from Tea for Two. and the sentiment is from Apothecary Art.

The design team has created so many gorgeous interpretations of this sketch!  I foresee more Pinning for me this week!  Make sure you drop in to tell Jen how much you love her sketch!  I definitely have this one saved for future use too!

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  If you haven’t already, don’t forget to vote on yesterday’s post for a little bit of blog candy.  I will be working more today on my boys’ Valentines for school.  One class down, one to go (yes, nothing like the last minute).  I’ll be back tomorrow with a quick post to show you what I made.  Until then, have a fantastic day!

Stamp:  Apothecary Art; Paper:  Tea for Two DSP, Basic Gray, Rose Red, Whisper White; Ink:  Basic Gray, Rose Red; Accessories:  Tea Lace Paper Doilies, 5/8″ Flower Trim, Sticky Strip, Basic Pearls

SUOC64 – Sale-a-bration fun!

SUOC64 – Sale-a-bration fun! published on 10 Comments on SUOC64 – Sale-a-bration fun!

Oh what fun…it is time to celebrate Sale-a-bration (SAB) over at SUO Challenges this week!  Frankly, what is not to celebrate!!  Free products just for getting what you were already going to purchase.  Yea!!

SUOC64, SAB Class - SAB FunSo I had a bit of a dilemma for today’s post.  Two cards!  Which one to choose for the SUO Challenges site??!!  I went with the one that we made at my SAB class last week but will show you the other one, of course.  Something about this card really spoke to me and my stampers loved it too.  The stamp set, Vintage Verses, is one that can stand alone with only a small amount of extra or one that can be all “fancied up” (see the design team’s cards at the challenge site!).  I love that kind of flexibility!  I dyed on of the 5/8″ Flower Trim flowers with Midnight Muse ink and added it right on top of the sentiment (also stamped with Midnight Muse).  A Basic Pearl called out to be used and I love it here.  I thought it needed a little extra something, so I pulled out my new Stampin’ Distess Tool to distress the edges of the top layer.  Easy, fast and fabulous distressing!  Love this new tool!  A couple of my stampers were planning to use this as a Valentine’s card but the sentiment is perfect for many things.  Did I mention it is free??  So much to love with SAB!

SUOC64 - SAB 2Now I created another card using basically the same idea but I added a little bit of the lace from the Artisan Embellishments Kit under the flower.  Oh how I love this lace!!  It adds another special touch with no extra work!

So I’m curious which version you like better.  To make it more fun, I’ll offer a little blog candy.  Let me know which you prefer and I will randomly choose someone to receive the most popular version.  Make sure you tell me your favorite and why in a comment to this post.  I’ll chose from everyone who comments on Saturday, Feb. 16th and then send it right out to the winner.

I know I have been missing a bit over the last few weeks and I appreciate your patience with me.  I have been trying to recharge the creative batteries a bit.  Working on lots of ideas and I look forward to showing you those over the next few months.  In the mean time, please know how grateful I am that you spend a part of your day with me!

I’ll be back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  Now hop right over to the SUO Challenges site and you will be AMAZED at what you see.  Can’t wait to see what you share from you SAB projects!

Stamp:  Vintage Verses (SAB); Paper:  Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla; Ink:  Midnight Muse, Rose Red Reinker (bottom card); Accessories:  5/8″ Flower Trim, Basic Pearls, Artisan Embellishments Kit (bottom card), Dimensionals, Stampin’ Distress Tool (top card)

Freshly Made Sketches #72

Freshly Made Sketches #72 published on 9 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #72

FMS Final 72-001Wow, it has been a week since I posted.  Sorry for the long break.  It seems to have been a little crazy around here!  I have been stamping though.  My club met and I had Sale-a-bration classes yesterday.  Such fun!  I love stamping with my friends!!  Wednesday is here and you know that means a brand new challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.  This fantastic layout is from Cindy Hall of Pretty Impact.  This one is so versatile and I can see so many uses for it.  I know it will be in my sketch file for future use too.

FMS72 - GratefulI combined some old and some new for today’s card.  I was searching around in my paper file and came across this print from Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP that I thought would be great to use.  Naturally, I scooted right down to all the ribbon and chose this Basic Black/Basic Gray 1-1/4″ Two-tone Ribbon to go with it.  Wow, this ribbon is so pretty!  I kept it kind of simple and tied on one of the new Silver Basics Designer Buttons.  I thought it would be great as a frame of sorts for a flower from the Flower Trim.  It was out on my table from the classes and practically fell onto the card.  The sentiment is from Apothecary Art and, of course, a Basic Pearl on the flower to finish.

I love this sketch and need to play with it some more this week to see what other variations I can come up with.  I know you will have some great interpretations and I look forward to seeing the creativity in the gallery!  Make sure you check out the rest of the design team’s cards.  How lucky I am to work with such talented people!

Well, I am going to be a substitute teacher today at my boys’ school.  I have the day off and apparently they were really needing help to call me!  *smile*  I guess that means no stamping but I will try to get some posts up showing you a class card and maybe some Valentine’s for my boy’s classes at school.  Until then, thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope your day is great!

Freshly Made Sketches #71

Freshly Made Sketches #71 published on 9 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #71

FMS Final 71-001Happy middle of the week!  So glad to share this new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!!  This one is courtesy of the wonderful and talented Linda Callahan of Stampin’ Seasons.    Cute isn’t it??!!  Now our gallery last week was simply astonishing and I look forward to seeing some more inspiration this week.

FMS71 - Razzleberry ValentineI thought about changing the heart into something else but then I started playing with some of my new Spring Catalog products that were out on the stamp table.  I didn’t catch it at first but I just LOVE how the design on the heart in Hearts a Flutter is the same as the one on the oval in Oh, Hello.  I felt like I just had to do something to show that off!  I kept to a simple monochromatic color scheme am happy how it turned out.  I did deviate a little by not putting the oval on the angle but it really seemed to work better this way.

The design team has some incredible work and you will love all the variations.  We did have a laugh that some of us used similar elements in our designs without having seen each other’s cards.  Perhaps brilliant stampers just think alike!  LOL!

Well, thanks for stopping in.  So glad you did!!  I hope your week is going well and look forward to seeing you again soon!

Stamps:  Hearts a Flutter, Oh, Hello, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper:  Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White; Ink:  Rich Razzleberry; Accessories:  Big Shot, Stripes EF, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Ovals Framelits, Brights Buttons, Baker’s Twine, Dimensionals
