Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Sending Hugs

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Sending Hugs published on 34 Comments on Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Sending Hugs

Welcome back for day 2 of the January  Release from Newton’s Nook Designs.  You are going to fall head over heels with today’s set called Sending Hugs.  All of the options are perfect for pretty much anyone you could want to create a card for and wait until you see how the dies work.

Sending Love by Jen Timko | Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Tumbling Hearts Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs, Shimmery White Embossing Paste by Stampin' Up, Chameleon Pens and Color TopsI chose this cute owl and decided to color him in bright, happy and decidedly “not real owl” colors.  I used my Chameleon Pens and Color Tops to create this fun shading.  After much debate, I thought this envelope worked well for my sentiment choice.  And now, you really need to take note…just look at how the owl is holding the letter.  Yep, the dies do that!  They cut the “hands” (feathers, paws) out so your little animal can hold the treat!  Oh…brilliant!!!  Just admit it, you want me to go stamp and cut more out right now, don’t you??  Thank goodness the team has done that and can show you more options!!  As a way to accent my owl, I used the Tumbling Hearts stencil and some new Shimmery White Embossing Paste.  The sparkle is awesome!

Sending Love Closeup by Jen Timko | Sending Hugs Stamp Set and Dies by Newton's Nook Designs, Shimmery White Embossing Paste by Stampin' Up, Tumbling Hearts Stencil by Newton's Nook DesignsI tried to capture some of the glittery look here but there is so much more wow in person.  To match, I added a little strip of shimmer washi tape down the side too.  I hope you enjoy this card and now time to get to everyone’s favorite part of release week.  A chance to win!!

Would you like to win the “Sending Hugs” Stamp Set?

Each set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

Here’s how to win:

Freshly Made Sketches #318

Freshly Made Sketches #318 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #318

FMS318 by Jen Timko | Vibrant Thanks Stamp by Power Poppy, Chameleon Pens, Chameleon Color TopsI’m happy to have the last Freshly Made Sketches card of the year to share with you today!  Whew….always amazing to look back at all the sketches and inspiration!!  It is fitting that our resident birthday girl, Linda Callahan, is also today’s sketch hostess.  I could sing Linda’s praises all day long but suffice it to say that she is one of a kind in her humor, talent and overall amazingness!  And she, thankfully, gave us a really great sketch that will carry us through the holiday season.  Feel free to use it multiple times and make sure to share with us!

As Christmas sneaks up on me (how…I cannot explain), I knew that it was time to reach into my pile of UFOs (Unfinished Objects).  You may recognize this flower as the same one I used back on FMS304 but it has the flower name along side.  I colored with the Chameleon Color Tops Pens and cut it out with a stitched oval.  While it didn’t work how I wanted it to then, it works perfectly for today’s sketch.  And all the stamping/coloring/cutting was already done!  I backed it up with this awesome striped ribbon and pretty much called it done.  Yay for UFOs…of course this justifies my keeping that pile so not sure if it is an overall win, haha.

As we get closer to Christmas, my “day job” schedule is really busy.  Not sure how much stamping I’ll get to do but I’m already looking forward to having things to share with you in the new year.  Until next time, thank you so much for stopping in!

A Chameleon Dahlia

A Chameleon Dahlia published on 2 Comments on A Chameleon Dahlia

Color Tops Dahlia by Jen Timko | Dahlia XL Stamp by Power Poppy, Chameleon Pens, Chameleon Color Tops, SplitcoaststampersI know this week has been full of posts from me but I have one more for you!  I was part of a Product Focus for Splitcoaststampers on Wednesday and now I have a little more time to share that with you.  As you may have noticed, I have been featuring the Chameleon Pens and Chameleon Color Tops lately.  These projects are part of the review of the Color Tops and today’s card is my final project for it.

I recently got this gorgeous large flower image, Dahlia XL by Power Poppy, and could not wait to have time to color it.  I knew immediately that my first time using it just had to be with the Color Tops.  Just to put the Chameleon system to the test, I used only one pen and one Color Top and the results are a real wow!  The depth of color on this is really extraordinary.  You can read my thoughts on the pens (and those of the whole Product Focus team) here:  Color Tops Product Focus

I created a short video showing a little more on how the pens work with the tops and how I colored part of this flower.  Sometimes it really is just easier to show you!

Once I finished all the coloring, I created a pretty simple card since the flower did all the work.  I stamped a sentiment from another Power Poppy set, Vibrant Thanks, using Versafine Onyx Black.  Then I put it on a layer of Wisteria Wonder (SU) that is a lovely match to the Lavender tones.  I cut the flower so that I could use both sections on the image layer (and yes, I did hesitate just a second before cutting into all that coloring).  A few sequins from Studio Katia and SU to highlight the Turquoise as a finish.

If you have any questions about these pens, I’m certainly happy to answer.  Just drop me a note here or send a comment over at Splitcoaststampers for the Product Focus team.  Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope you have a great weekend!

Stamp: Dahlia XL (Power Poppy), Vibrant Thanks (Power Poppy); Ink:  Momento Tuxedo Black, Chameleon Pens, Chameleon Color Tops, Versafine Onyx Black; Paper:  Thick Whisper White (SU), Wisteria Wonder (SU); Accessories:  Misti, Sequins (Studio Katia and SU), Mini Dimensionals, Dimensionals

STAMPtember – Loads of Thanks

STAMPtember – Loads of Thanks published on 6 Comments on STAMPtember – Loads of Thanks

We are in the middle of the Newton’s Nook Designs release week so what better time to share the newest STAMPtember set from Simon Says Stamp?!!  Yes, today we celebrate the collaboration with Simon Says Stamp and Newton’s Nook Designs so you have to know how happy that makes me!  Two fabulous companies!Fall Thanks by Jen Timko | Loads of Thanks Stamp Set by Simon Says Stamp and Newton's Nook Designs, STAMPtember, Falling Leaves Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs, Chameleon Color Tops, Chameleon Pens

This sweet stamp set comes with our little dog friend pushing a wheel barrow and LOTS of options for filling it.  I thought it would be fun to add in the bunny and leaves, which gave me the perfect excuse to use the new Falling Leaves Stencil that NND revealed yesterday (and available on Friday, Sept. 15th).  I stamped the bunny and then masked to add the wheelbarrow in a way that makes the leaves kind of spill over.  Isn’t it cute?!  Then, using my Chameleon Pens and Color Tops, I colored the images.  I love how I can get a real fall leaf feel with the shading from these Color Tops!  I wanted the focus to stay on the image but the embossing paste with the stencil adds just the right amount of interest behind our little friends.  Gotta say, these are a perfect go-together.  Remember, this STAMPtember release is only available directly from Simon Says Stamp (and conveniently enough, they will have the new stencil a SSS on Friday once it goes “live”).  If all that wasn’t enough, there is a matching die set for the images too.  Good luck holding onto your paycheck!  STAMPtember is fun time of year but oh so dangerous for the budget!  *smile*Thanks for stopping in to see my take on the new release.  Make sure you go over to the Simon blog to see all the inspiration there.  See you back in a little while for Day 2 of the NND September release.

Freshly Made Sketches #304

Freshly Made Sketches #304 published on 7 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #304

FMS304 by Jen Timko | Vibrant Thanks Stamp by Power Poppy, Chameleon Pens, Chameleon Color TopsI’m working on continuing my coloring for The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge (running this month) and I thought this sweet little image from Power Poppy would be perfect for the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Narelle Farrugia, who always created with the most beautiful details, designed this awesome sketch for us this week.  An instant classic!

I decided that this was another image that was great for the Chameleon Color Tops.  I looked at the coloring on coreopsis flowers and the blend from red to yellow was a natural for these cool pens.  I used the YO2 Mellow Yellow pen and infused with RD3 Vermillion.  Fun, right? The transition from red to yellow is just like the flowers.  I added a sentiment from the set too.  The image was cut out using the Stitched Shapes Dies (SU).  The corrugated paper gives a little detail for the sketch and I added some jute twine.

Now, back to the coloring.  If you haven’t heard about the coloring challenge or have not yet joined in, consider it.  Kathy encourages just a little coloring every day.  Just for fun!  Every time I have participated, I have had such fun.  Creating just to create!  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  I hope you have a happy Wednesday.

Supplies:

Stamp:  Vibrant Thanks (Power Poppy); Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Corrugated Paper (SU); Ink:  Momento Tuxedo Black, Chameleon Pens, Chameleon Color Tops; Accessories: Misti, Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Dies (SU), Twine (SU), Dimensionals

Rainy Day

Rainy Day published on 2 Comments on Rainy Day

Rainy Day by Jen Timko | Newton's Rainy Day Stamp and Dies by Newton's Nook, Chameleon Pens, Chameleon Color TopsToday is my day to share a project on the Newton’s Nook Designs Blog and given the news from Texas, my inspiration for this isn’t too hard to guess.  I thought that Newton’s Rainy Day was the perfect set for creating a card right now.

As soon as I pulled out this image with the big umbrella, I thought that my new Chameleon Color Tops would be fun to use.  And yep, was I right!  The shading on each panel was created by starting with a base color pen and then infusing with another color.  So my Fuchsia (PK5) pen was infused with Mellow Yellow (YO2) and what a cool effect, don’t you think?!  Same with the Turquoise (BG3) (infused with Mellow Yellow).  For the duck I used Mellow Yellow infused with Tangerine (OR3).  The kitty is Neutral Gray (NG4).

I combined “regular” Chameleon use with the Color Tops on this and it is amazing how much fun it was to experiment with color options.  Once I finished coloring, I was looking for just the right background when this one virtually jumped out at me.  Um, yeah…the ombré yellow from the Color Theory DSP matched perfectly!  I created a little frame and added some sequins and left most of the focus on this adorable image and its bright colors.  I hope you like my Newton’s extra this month.  So glad you stopped in to see me.  Back tomorrow with the latest from Freshly Made Sketches.  Until then, have a great day!

Stamp: Newton’s Rainy Day (Newton’s Nook Designs); Ink:  Momento Tuxedo Black, Chameleon Pens, Chameleon Color Tops; Paper:  Strathmore Mixed Media, Color Theory DSP (SU); Accessories:  Big Shot, Newton’s Rainy Day Dies (Newton’s Nook Designs), Stitched Rectangles Dies (SSS), Misti, White Baker’s Twine, Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh), Mini Dimensionals
