Freshly Made Sketches #514

Happy Wednesday! For those in the US, I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday. Back with today’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and we have a great one from designer Cécile.

As I was looking through my stamps fro this, I knew I wanted snowflakes for the three little elements but wasn’t sure what else. And then…yep, the mice. Merry Little Mice from Honey Bee Stamps to be exact. I love this fun fellow and I thought he was just the right size for the sketch. I stamped him in Momento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic Markers.

I leaned on the Vintage Holiday Paper Pack again for the background and then thought it might be fun to use another print for the circle. This houndstooth was perfect. I did make the card a 5″x5″ so that I could keepa bit more of the background detail. I pulled the snowflakes from the Riding By…Holiday Style stamp set and the sentiment is from Inside: Holiday Sentiments (all from Honey Bee Stamps). Hard to see in the photo but I added a little Wink of Stella Clear on the white parts of the image for some sparkle.

Thanks for stopping in today. I will be back later in the week with some holiday cards. See you then!

Super quick today. Sharing for the latest amazing sketch for Freshly Made Sketches. This week we have one from designer Jen Brum and it is wonderful!

A funny thing happened on the way to posting today. I made the card and then forgot to take a photo before leaving on a work trip. So my 15 yo son took the photo for me, complete with setting up props. What a great kid!!

I pulled out some of my season favorites from Honey Bee Stamps (listed below). Love how the dies and paper did most of the work. More flying tomorrow and I’m pretty tired so I’ll send you off to the FMS for all the inspiration from the awesome team. Thanks for stopping in today! For this in the US, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving. If you are flying today or tomorrow, look for me in the system!

Merry Everything for Honey Bee Stamps

I am so happy to share today’s card with you. I have been wanting to try an edge-to-edge shaker card and this technique does not disappoint. And it is time for the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Hop! I knew just what to pull out!

Mug & Kisses is a new die set from the latest release by Honey Bee Stamps. So cute with adorable elements! I opted to make a cup of hot chocolate complete with the candy cane and marshmallows on the side. YUM! I inked the cup with Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Ink and added a little Copic shading on the marshmallows. The whipped cream, marshmallows and the snowflake were all spritzed with Hero Arts Shimmer Spray for more sparkle.

For the shaker portion, I cut down the packaging from a stamp set (which I’m now hoarding for just this reason) to about a half inch bigger than my patterned paper layer all around. Using double sided tape, I attached three sides of cellophane down at the back, leaving the top open to put in the sequins. I chose a random assortment from my stash to match the colors in the paper (which is from the Vintage Holiday Paper Pack). Then you just seal the fourth side with the double sided tape. No foam tape, no drama, just simple! I was so hoping this was true and it is!! I glued on an extra panel behind the shaker layer for stability since the patterned paper is thinner and then attached the whole thing to the base. My mug and other elements were attached using the Honey Bee Stamps Precision Glue. I stamped the sentiment from another new release set, Tag You’re It: Holidays, onto vellum and cut with the Tag Builder Honey Cut Dies.

So glad you stopped in today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going well so far. We have a fabulous sketch for you today at Freshly Made Sketches. In fact, I’m feeling like sketch designer Kim Singdahlsen pretty much designed the card for me. Thanks, Kim!!

When I saw the tree in the sketch, I knew exactly what stamp set I was going to use (and you don’t have to use a tree, I just happened to have the right one!). The Merry Little Mice set from Honey Bee Stamps is simply adorable and perfect for this. I stamped a few of the images and then colored with Copic Markers. Aren’t these little mice as sweet as can be?!

I used a couple of the patterns from the Vintage Holiday Paper Pack for my color inspiration and cut small strips to match the sketch. The best part is that this is one that can be duplicated pretty easily because the paper pieces are so small. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and I just love it with the singing mouse.

So glad you stopped in today. I hope you come over to join us this week. See you again Friday!

Christmas Tree Cat

Happy Friday everyone! Today I’m just sharing a card for fun. Back in September I was able to go to a craft retreat which means I was able to use stamps borrowed from other crafters. I have been a bit remiss in sharing some of those and will be pulling them out to show you over the next few weeks.

First up is this card made using the Christmas Tree Cat Stamp Set by Colorado Craft Company. This is the first card I made at the retreat and I chose this stamp because, well, cats. I colored the little criminal to match my sweet little gray kitty. She is the cat most likely to end up in this predicament! I did a bit of Copic Marker coloring and then added some distress ink blending in the background for a little extra pop. The sentiment comes from the same stamp set. I just stamped it and hand cut it.

I hope you enjoy this sweet card. Hoping that you have a wonderful weekend! See you soon.

FMS #511 and Mix It Up #85

Hi everyone! Today is challenge combo day and I have a card that uses both the Mix It Up challenge for SugarPea Designs and the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I used Linda’s clean sketch and leaned on the inspiration from SugarPea to create this.

As soon as I saw the inspiration, I knew that I was going to do the triangle trees. Using the SugarCut – Piece of Cake dies, this was super easy. I just cut the small one and cut along the lines on the bigger one (it was a cake piece). I spritzed with some shimmer spray to match the sparkle in the Mix It Up photo.

To match the sketch, I put down a layer of distress oxide ink by stamping it onto a block and spritzing with water. I added a bit of gold paint per the inspiration. I used the SugarCut – Joy Word in some glitter paper to add a little more shine.

Thanks so much for stopping in today! I hope you will come over and join the challenges!

Vintage Pine Trees for Honey Bee Stamps

A quick post to share a card for social media today (just in case you are not there with me). I am focusing on die cuts and pretty papers, because that makes for quick work on holiday cards!

I used the Pine Trees Honey Cut dies along with the Vintage Holiday Paper Pack from Honey Bee Stamps to make quick work of this. I chose a few patterns that I thought would be pretty together and used the wooden background print as a base. Seriously, I didn’t do anything other than sponge the edges a bit. I added a sentiment from the Tag, You’re It: Holiday set and a twine bow.

I love that I can make a few more of these just using different prints and patterns too. Definitely trying to get serious about finishing my cards this year so I can mail them out a bit earlier than usual.

Thanks so much for stopping in today! You can find me on social media with my buttons on the side bar. Products listed below with my affiliate links (no extra cost to you and I make a little extra to keep all this going).

Freshly Made Sketches #510

I am so excited to share my latest card with you today. Sorry for being so quiet. I’ve been flying a lot more (a good thing) but that seriously cuts into my creative time (not so good thing). I got home from a trip yesterday morning and decided to give this sketch a go because I love it so much. The incomparable Jen Mitchell is the sketch designer at Freshly Made Sketches this week and I love her take on a classic!

For the circle element, I pulled out my Gina K Designs Snowflake Trio dies and cut two of them from Glitter Cardstock (it was part of a kit with the dies). I stamped the sentiment from the coordinating Sparkle and Shine Stamp Set and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

I chose to use an unexpected color for the crossing panel and pulled out my new Villianous Potion Oxide Ink. This is a beautiful color!! I brushed in on and then sprayed the panel with my Hero Arts Shimmer Spray. So much shine, so little effort! I added a gem from my stash for the middle of the snowflake for one last bit of shine.

Hope you will come over and join us this week. Thank you so much for stopping in today. See you tomorrow for a SugarPea Designs feature.

CASE Me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton

CASE Me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton published on No Comments on CASE Me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton

I am so excited to be sharing a card today as part of Michelle Lupton‘s CASE Me a Christmas Card series. For those not familiar with the term, CASE = Copy and Selectively Edit (or Copy and Share Everything). For this, I have taken a card I chose from Michelle’s amazing array of cards and used it to inspire a new Christmas card. HERE is her card (also shared below with Michelle’s permission).

I completely fell in love with the Faux Tiles and wanted to try something similar. Since she used a pretty cover plate die, I also chose a new favorite of mine, the Fancy Flakes Cover Plate Die by Honey Bee Stamps. I thought that the shine on her card so just so cool so I got to work finding a way to give a similar effect. On my background panel, I brushed on Distress Oxide Inks in Peacock Feathers and Broken China. I used Versamark Ink on top of it all and added clear embossing powder. Just like Michelle, I did that a total of three times to get it evenly embossed and totally shine.

Where Michelle added shimmer to her colored panel, I thought the white needed a bit more, so I sprayed on Hero Arts Shimmer Spray. I am totally addicted to this right now and it is pretty much finding itself on everything! My sentiment is from the Bitty Buzzwords: Holidays set and dies. I inked some more paper with the same colors, cut with the dies. I also stamped with Peacock Feathers for the “Merriest” panel. More shimmer spray on everything, of course! This has so much shine in person with the shimmer spray and the embossed panel! I felt like a few pearls were the perfect finish after positioning my sentiment to mimic Michelle’s.

Here is Michelle’s beautiful Faux Tile Card:

Michelle also CASE’d one of my cards and I cannot wait to see the result! You can see her card HERE. Thanks for coming over to visit today! See you again soon.

Freshly Made Sketches #509

Freshly Made Sketches #509 published on 6 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #509

I hope your week is going well so far! Happy Wednesday. I’m here to share the latest from Freshly Made Sketches and this week, I am the sketch designer. Slimline cards continue to be a trend and I wanted to give the vertical look a try.

For my card, it all started with a flower. This image from Sketchbook Florals by Taylored Expressions is everything that is good about floral stamps. The perfect size, easy to color, gorgeous! I watercolored it with my Daniel Smith watercolor paints and then die cut it with the coordinating die.

To “frame” it, I wanted interest but nothing that would pull away from the flower. I chose the Mini Slim Square Window Cutting Plate and it does the job perfectly. I popped it up on foam tape to give dimension after adding this sweet sentiment from the same set.

I hope you will come over and play along this week! The team has some amazing inspiration for you too! Thanks for stopping in. See you soon.
