Freshly Made Sketches #539

Freshly Made Sketches #539 published on 3 Comments on Freshly Made Sketches #539

Hello friends! Sorry for the quiet over the last two weeks. The full summer flying season has started and I am busy, busy, busy at work. Not a lot of time for crafting, sadly. But I am the sketch designer for this week at Freshly Made Sketches so I worked to make time for a bit of creativity.

As usual when I haven’t been making much, I went for really clean. I love the look of a pop of color against white. I inked up some Hammermill white card stock with Distress Oxide Inks (Kitsch Flamingo, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Tumbled Glass) and cut it out with the Lovely Layers: Bugs butterfly die. SOOOOO pretty!

I splattered it with some White Iridescent Shimmer Spray for a little more dimension. I foiled the sentiment with Aura foil and the variation in that one is perfect for the rainbow colors of the butterly, don’t you think? I added some Lovely Layers: Greenery leaves in the background and added some Spring Pearls.

I hope you like the sketch and have some time to play along this week. Thanks for stopping in today!

A new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches today designed by the lovely Judy Rozema.

I loved the idea of the banner as an interest layer so I just free cut it with my paper cutter and inked it with Distress Oxide Ink. Then I pulled out the new Grandma’s Garden set from Honey Bee Stamps. Such a pretty set of images! The fuchsias are so pretty and fun to color.

I’m such a fan of this simple little hummingbird style (there are three in the stamp set) and I thought it would be fun to add a ruby throat like the ones in my area. The bird also acts as the circle element in the sketch. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and works perfectly on the banner.

I hope you enjoy this sweet little card and have time to create this week. As heavy as the world feels, I hope that a little beauty and color will act as a balm to bring some solace. Thanks for stopping in today.

I am so happy to say that all of my blog stuff seemed to actually work as planned last week so I think the month of technology woes is finally over. YAY! I have the latest from Freshly Made Sketches with an outstanding sketch from the always amazing Karren. I see a great gallery in our future!

I thought this was a good sketch for the Citrus Blooms set by Pinkfresh Studio. It is an interesting style of stamp where you just stamp one time for all the image, then cut them all. Nice for when you don’t want to cut lots of little images. I colored these up with Copic Markers and just chose colors that made me happy. Quite certain the flowers are incorrect but artistic license is my excuse.

Once I had the images colored, I decided I would use my Foilpress for the sentiment. Instead of foiling and cutting it out with dies, I just foiled straight onto the panel. This is the Fancy Script Words Foil Plate (also Pinkfresh Studio) using Matte Gold Foil. I like how that coordinates with the Matte Gold Pearls from them too.

I hope you have a beautiful week. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope to see you again soon!

Hi everyone! Another week of lots of flying and fixing my blog behind the scenes. But…I think, maybe, it is done. Maybe. We will see. One of the issues was that my posts would not go live after scheduling…. So this one is a test! In the mean time, I got a fun card made for Freshly Made Sketches with an adorable sketch by our lovely Amy.

I’m just totally in love with this sweet set from The Rabbit Hole Designs. Something about these little rain boots and the flowers…so great! I stamped it using Versafine Clair Ink and then heat embossed it with Clear Embossing powder. And I got to try out my new Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool. This is a game changer. No residue, no embossing powder sticking where it shouldn’t. It is patent pending because it is awesome!! And the price is so great. Seriously. If you need an anti-static tool, just get this one and please don’t get a knock-off. There are some out there and they will made you sad. Supporting an innovative entrepreneur is a great thing to do!

I don’t often combine brands on cards (really this should not be an issue unless it is a DT card but somehow I struggle to do it). For this, I was short on time and I had this pretty sentiment all ready foiled so, naturally, it just jumped on the card. It is from Pinkfresh Studio and I love that touch of shine. All the watercoloring was done with Distress Ink, including the little panel. I added a vellum flag and then some fun pearls. The pearls are part of a bonus pack that came in my order from The Rabbit Hole Designs. Yep, beautiful!!

I hope you will join us this week for the challenge and I’m so grateful for all the patience on my blog. I know it mostly hasn’t been apparent on the front side but it has taken so much of my time away from crafting. Wishing you a great rest of the week!

Hi everyone! Another week has flown by. Sorry for the intermittent posting. Things have been a little crazy here. I do have a quick card for you today. To sum things up, the back side of my blog is still having a lot of issues that I have been spending too much time one. Given my limited time to devote to all things crafty, this has seriously cut into my creating. I hope to be getting this fixed this week (I have given it over to some tech experts and I hope it can be handled). In the mean time….a fabulous sketch from the wonderful Cécile!

I pulled out some bee themed products from Honey Bee Stamps (naturally!). The Lovely Layers: Bugs makes an appearance again with the bee die. Isn’t it cute?! I used the Just BeeCause stamp set for the sentiment and the Honeycomb stamp for the background from the sketch.

The little bee is so fun and easy to create. I just it him from Hammermill white card stock and colored it with Copic Markers. Super quick and easy. I added shimmer to the wings using some Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust just painted on with a brush. The pearls are from the Cool Pearls pack by Honey Bee Stamps.

I hope you will be able to join us this week. I think this sketch is just brilliant! All kinds of possibilities! Thanks for stopping in today for for your continued support. Have a wonderful rest of your week and see you soon.

Hi everyone!  I hope you are having a great week.  Another one has flown by here!  Today I have the latest from Freshly Made Sketches and our sketch designer is the wonderful Jen Brum.  I admit I took a bit of liberty with the sketch and I hope Jen isn’t too upset with me.  But I just “had” to color flowers.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I thought about this stamp set called Wildflowers by Honey Bee Stamps. The images are so pretty and I thought they would be nice for the vertical panels. The little greenery plants mimicked the bottom blocks (at least in my head) so I went with it. Plus I was really in the mood to color.

I chose a sentiment from the My Favorite Flowers set and then decided that I needed to add the little bee from the flower set. The background is a patterned paper ombré piece from the Playful Pastels pack.

I hope you enjoy this sweet card and will come over to play along at the challenge. The team has some beautiful cards to share! Thanks so much for stopping in. See you soon.

Hello, friends! I’m so glad to be back with you today to share the latest from Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch designer this week is the lovely Kim Singdahlsen and I love her classic choice.

After so long away, I needed to start with something that didn’t take too much thought. Die cuts! Definitely die cuts! I was super inspired by some garden flowers from my recent trip to visit my college kid in Williamsburg, Va. I found some pretty anemones (shared below). I dug into my stash and pulled out the Lovely Layers: Anenome Dies and then added some newer products too – the Lovely Layers: Bugs and Lovely Layers: Greenery.

I shaded the flower using a Bitty Bunny Blending Brush. I love how the small size works for adding color more specifically. I inked the leaves and then decided to use Copic markers on the body of the dragonfly for a little more specific color. The wings were cut from vellum and then I added some Clear Wink of Stella to make them shimmer. To go with that shimmery effect, I though a foiled sentiment would be nice so I used the Small Card, Big Hug Foil Sentiments and Aura foil. And here is my muse:

I hope you will come over to join us this week. Thank you all for your patience as I took some needed time away. Lots has been going on for the family and I hope for a little more calm in the coming weeks. Make sure to head over to the team blog to see all the amazing work!

Blog drama and a thank you

My dear stamping friends, hello! You may have gotten a rather weird “post” from me this week and I had no real ability to explain. My blog had a fundamental breakdown and honestly, I thought it was all lost in cyberspace. Thankfully, my service provider, Go Daddy, was able to recover and fix the entire mess but it took days. I do think that it is all fixed and all the safety protocols are in place to protect you and me. But it took a lot of brain space and time to get through the mess of it.

With that, I’m just going to let you know that I will be off of the blog for about a week more for some family time. I have also been flying a bit more (which is a good thing for the travel industry) and that has required some adjustment to my time management. I am so very grateful for all of you and so glad I still have this format to reach out to you and share. Wishing you a beautiful day!

Hi everyone! I am the sketch designer this week at Freshly Made Sketches and I hope you will like it. I definitely did and actually created two cards.

I actually created the same card in two ways. I don’t do this often but usually have a lot of fun when I do and that is what happened with this. My inspiration was the Seeds of Kindness stamp set and dies from Honey Bee Stamps. The actually has a seed pack die too but I stuck to just the basic set today.

I stamped the image onto watercolor paper and colored with my Karin Markers (colors shown at end of the post). I added a little bit of vintage looking Distress Ink on the edges of the image to add to the feeling of age. Some lace ribbon from my stash was perfect for the sketch and I love the overall look.

For my second version, I chose Copic Markers and colored in a similar palette but more spring-like and new. Instead of lace, I added a colored border and a few pearls instead of splatters.

With this one, I used an alternate sentiment and masked the original sentiment and then stamped it in. The banner cuts right on the edges for a clean effect (the banner was used on the first one too, just with the image sentiment).

I hope you are inspired to play along with this. I had such fun just playing in the stamp room on these. Make sure you come see what the team created too. Thanks for stopping in today. See you soon.

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a good week. Spring is starting to show itself here in Virginia complete with cherry blossoms. I was able to go down to the Tidal Basin last Friday with my sister (visiting during her spring break) and the flowers were just about to go full bloom. There were a few trees starting though so the day was definitely nice. I was thrilled to have a bit of time to play with the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and I just love this one from the wonderful Jacquie Southas.

The new Little Birdies stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps has such a spring feel to it and the images are darling. I colored a few of them and decided the little bird house stand could work as one of the elements in the sketch. I added two sentiments from Small Card, Big Hug which is a set of go-togethers phrases. I brushed on some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink to give it a sunny feel and done.

I hope you will come over to join us this week. Thanks for stopping in today. Affiliate links below if you are inspired to shop.
