Freshly Made Sketches #559

Happy Wednesday to you! I’m the sketch designer over at Freshly Made Sketches this week and I went with a little more detail than my normal design. But you can choose to interpret those circles however you want!

Taking a short break from the seasonal cards, I thought I’d use some of the pieces I had left in my pile of unused extras. I had these flowers from the Citrus Blooms set that I had previously watercolored and thought they would be pretty grouped together. I chose a the Inverted Stitched Scallop Circle (also Pinkfresh Studios) because I love the extra bit of detail on it.

I liked the idea of all the white but I thought a bit of gold would make it more special. I used the Fancy Script Words Hot Foil Plates and dies for the sentiment. A little bit of gold splatter and then some Matte Gold Pearls to finish.

The team, as always, has some amazing interpretations of the sketch and I look forward to seeing how you use it. I hope you have a good rest of your week! See you soon.

This is post one of two today. Later today, I have a fun collaboration with Michelle Lupton. But first, Freshly Made Sketches! Our sketch designer this week is our amazing Jacquie who has given us a trio of fun for the week.

When I saw the sketch, I thought about tags and I knew just the ones. The Tag Builder dies and coordinating Tag, You’re It Holidays set (Honey Bee Stamps) were just what I needed! I leaned on some of last year’s patterned paper (it is on sale now at Honey Bee) and let the dies do most of the work. I thought this pink paper was a modern choice and I love it with the kraft tags.

I used a sentiment from the stamp set and opted for a black base/white embossing look. The twine is from my stash and the sequins are from an old Honey Bee Stamps pack called Ballet Slippers.

Thanks for stopping in today. I hope you like this card and will come over to join us this week! Make sure you come back by later to see my second post of the day.

My leaves are starting to change and I’m all in on fall. Went to the apple orchard on Monday, made apple butter yesterday…I love fall in Virginia! Pretty much no matter what the sketch was this week, I was planning on using leaves and the sketch from our fabulous Judy Rozema is perfect!!!

The Lovely Layers: Fall Foliage dies from Honey Bee Stamps are simple glorious for perfect (and easy) leaf creating. I cut them out from Hammermill white paper and then blended on Distress Ink with my Bitty Blending Brushes. I love these little brushes for controlling where the color goes. I pulled a couple of leaves from my yard as color muses, as you can see. I added a few paint splatters to mimic the spots on my leaves.

I chose a sentiment from the new On The Line Fall Florals stamp set (Honey Bee Stamps) and I love how close the coordinating die cuts it. The background paper is from the Grain and Grunge Paper Pack and the gems are from the coordinating gem pack.

I hope you will come over to Freshly Made Sketches to check the gorgeous work from the team and play along. Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have a beautiful day!

A sweet new sketch from our queen of flowers and fussy cutting, Narelle! (and you need to see her card for today!) I immediately thought fall when I saw the sketch and knew just what to pull out.

I knew this Patchwork Pumpkin stamp and die set from Honey Bee Stamps would be super fun. I inked up a panel with orange and pink Distress Inks and then stamped and cut the pumpkin. Pink you say?? Yes! Because it is a running joke with my sister and I. My mom made a super fun wall hanging quilt with pink pumpkins that I LOVE! And my sister rebels against the color choice. So there is a good chance this card will go to her…because, sisters!

That gorgeous textured background?? I’d love to take credit but it is from the Spooktacular Paper Pack from Honey Bee Stamps. The whole pack is awesome!

I hope to see you this week at Freshly Made Sketches. Thanks so much for stopping in today. See you soon!

Another fabulous sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week. This week’s designer is Kim Singdahlsen and she gave us one with elements of flair but wide open space for design (and her card is amazing, as always!). I opted to re-visit a technique recently shown by the talented Dawn Woleslagle (WPlus9) that uses silhouette stamps inked and then spritzed. Super fun!

I used all Honey Bee Stamps products for this card but was able to capture the same style as Dawn. The Bold Botanicals Stamp set was great for this. I inked in Distress Oxide (and some Distress Ink) and then sprayed the stamp with a sprayer. I just used a clear block since imperfect is the look for this. A little bit of random layering and I just kept adding until it seemed done.

It needed a little something else so I added some splatters and Warm Pearls. A dark brown card stock layer and a sentiment from Inside: Thankful Sentiments was all that was needed to finish the sketch.

I hope you like this and that you’ll come over to join us. Make sure to check out Dawn’s cards too. She is such an inspiration! Thanks for stopping in. See you soon!

This sketch marks another year of Freshly Made Sketches and the inspiration for so many thousands of cards. What a remarkable thing! Only fitting that our sketch designer is one of the original team members, the one and only Jen Mitchell! Truly she is a queen of clean perfection and a simply amazing person too! Of course she has a great sketch for us.

I love the many variations possible on this sketch (and the team has shown a few, of course). I thought it would be fun to create a split panel card with one big image. I am thrilled with the result. I pulled out a favorite holiday set, Mondo Holly by Ellen Hutson. I love coloring it every time! I used Daniel Smith watercolors on the stamped and clear embossed image.

The variation in the watercolors (just some greens and a bit of blue for the leaves and some red, pink and burgundy for the berries) makes it fun to just play. I’m no professional at watercoloring but just putting in color and letting it move around brings me joy. AND…the first Christmas card of the season. Last week, fall and this week, Christmas. I guess I’m on to fall crafting for sure!

And with that, things have remained pretty busy around here. I just finished a check ride for United (once every 9 months) and this was a big one (every other one has a bit more consequence). What a relief to have it done! Also, my oldest leaves this weekend to go back to college for his second year. It has been so nice having him home (and one of the reasons I’m not crafting much…soaking in as much time as I can). I’ll be a mess again next week and also the proudest mom of all that his future holds! I hope that I’ll be back to crafting a bit more over the upcoming weeks. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your day. See you soon!

A new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches today designed by the lovely Judy Rozema.

I loved the idea of the banner as an interest layer so I just free cut it with my paper cutter and inked it with Distress Oxide Ink. Then I pulled out the new Grandma’s Garden set from Honey Bee Stamps. Such a pretty set of images! The fuchsias are so pretty and fun to color.

I’m such a fan of this simple little hummingbird style (there are three in the stamp set) and I thought it would be fun to add a ruby throat like the ones in my area. The bird also acts as the circle element in the sketch. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and works perfectly on the banner.

I hope you enjoy this sweet little card and have time to create this week. As heavy as the world feels, I hope that a little beauty and color will act as a balm to bring some solace. Thanks for stopping in today.

I am so happy to say that all of my blog stuff seemed to actually work as planned last week so I think the month of technology woes is finally over. YAY! I have the latest from Freshly Made Sketches with an outstanding sketch from the always amazing Karren. I see a great gallery in our future!

I thought this was a good sketch for the Citrus Blooms set by Pinkfresh Studio. It is an interesting style of stamp where you just stamp one time for all the image, then cut them all. Nice for when you don’t want to cut lots of little images. I colored these up with Copic Markers and just chose colors that made me happy. Quite certain the flowers are incorrect but artistic license is my excuse.

Once I had the images colored, I decided I would use my Foilpress for the sentiment. Instead of foiling and cutting it out with dies, I just foiled straight onto the panel. This is the Fancy Script Words Foil Plate (also Pinkfresh Studio) using Matte Gold Foil. I like how that coordinates with the Matte Gold Pearls from them too.

I hope you have a beautiful week. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope to see you again soon!

Hi everyone! Another week of lots of flying and fixing my blog behind the scenes. But…I think, maybe, it is done. Maybe. We will see. One of the issues was that my posts would not go live after scheduling…. So this one is a test! In the mean time, I got a fun card made for Freshly Made Sketches with an adorable sketch by our lovely Amy.

I’m just totally in love with this sweet set from The Rabbit Hole Designs. Something about these little rain boots and the flowers…so great! I stamped it using Versafine Clair Ink and then heat embossed it with Clear Embossing powder. And I got to try out my new Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool. This is a game changer. No residue, no embossing powder sticking where it shouldn’t. It is patent pending because it is awesome!! And the price is so great. Seriously. If you need an anti-static tool, just get this one and please don’t get a knock-off. There are some out there and they will made you sad. Supporting an innovative entrepreneur is a great thing to do!

I don’t often combine brands on cards (really this should not be an issue unless it is a DT card but somehow I struggle to do it). For this, I was short on time and I had this pretty sentiment all ready foiled so, naturally, it just jumped on the card. It is from Pinkfresh Studio and I love that touch of shine. All the watercoloring was done with Distress Ink, including the little panel. I added a vellum flag and then some fun pearls. The pearls are part of a bonus pack that came in my order from The Rabbit Hole Designs. Yep, beautiful!!

I hope you will join us this week for the challenge and I’m so grateful for all the patience on my blog. I know it mostly hasn’t been apparent on the front side but it has taken so much of my time away from crafting. Wishing you a great rest of the week!

Hi everyone! Another week has flown by. Sorry for the intermittent posting. Things have been a little crazy here. I do have a quick card for you today. To sum things up, the back side of my blog is still having a lot of issues that I have been spending too much time one. Given my limited time to devote to all things crafty, this has seriously cut into my creating. I hope to be getting this fixed this week (I have given it over to some tech experts and I hope it can be handled). In the mean time….a fabulous sketch from the wonderful Cécile!

I pulled out some bee themed products from Honey Bee Stamps (naturally!). The Lovely Layers: Bugs makes an appearance again with the bee die. Isn’t it cute?! I used the Just BeeCause stamp set for the sentiment and the Honeycomb stamp for the background from the sketch.

The little bee is so fun and easy to create. I just it him from Hammermill white card stock and colored it with Copic Markers. Super quick and easy. I added shimmer to the wings using some Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust just painted on with a brush. The pearls are from the Cool Pearls pack by Honey Bee Stamps.

I hope you will be able to join us this week. I think this sketch is just brilliant! All kinds of possibilities! Thanks for stopping in today for for your continued support. Have a wonderful rest of your week and see you soon.
