Well, it looks like I missed an amazing week last week at Freshly Made Sketches but I am back with this wonderful sketch from the awesome Linda Callahan. I love Linda’s sense of style and she always has a little twist of humor that brings a smile!

So I have to confess that I can’t stop creating with this stamp set. I had all the items for this card already out on my table from making the projects for my new Stamps on the Fly and put them to use again. I used the Silver Foil at the bottom of my Whisper White base. Then I inked up the middle and small stars from Bright & Beautiful with Versamark then embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Pretty, huh?? I did the same with the “Joy” sentiment on the base. I added on some of the Frosted Sequins (from the Holiday Catalog too). It still needed a little something, so I colored some Basic Rhinestones with the darkest Coastal Cabana Blendabilities marker and added those on too.

I have been getting one of my boys back to school this week. The oldest started middle school on Monday. Sigh….. How did that happen?! But he loves all his teachers and has a smile coming home every day. Happy mom! My youngest starts back next Monday and then, hopefully, I will really have some stamping time. Wow, what a gallery we had in last week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thanks to all who played along with my sketch! This week we have a fabulous sketch courtesy of the incredible Jen Mitchell. Her style and attention to detail always wow me!

My card this week should come with a disclaimer *Does Not Follow Simple Instructions Well*. I flipped the sketch, kind of. Only the center panel though. Hmmmm…. Hopefully Jen won’t mind too much. I was just obsessed with using this bird from the new set Beauty of the Season. He is so fantastic. And I had to color him. I had to! I framed him with a cut out from the On Film Framelits (cut from Early Espresso ) and added a sentiment from a set that is not even in the Holiday Catalog is it so new. It will be a set you can get for hostessing in an upcoming promotion and it is called Good Greetings. You will need it too. It is awesome. The Vintage Faceted Button was colored using the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities (just like the bird). A little Burlap Ribbon and that awesome Kraft Card Stock for the finished card.

Freshly Made Sketches day!!! Yay!!! After yesterday’s emotional day and post, I am working on looking toward the future and my next adventures in stamping. A little more on that below. For today, I am the sketch hostess and I hope you will enjoy playing along this week.

As I was working on my card, I also had the newest Paper Pumpkin out on the table and I saw the stars. I knew I wanted to use them and the card started coming together. I used the Fancy Foil in Silver for the panels and put it on a base of Shimmery White Card Stock. Instead of silver foil for the sentiment, I pulled out my Silver Glimmer Paper instead. Love that stuff. I used the retired Expressions Thinlits because I don’t have the new words that are coming in the Holiday Catalog….yet. But I will. I added on some Silver Metallic Baker’s Twine and placed the stars. A glittery panel behind to finish. This card has so much shimmer and shine in person!!

Welcome back for another Freshly Made Sketches card! Amy O’Neill is our hostess this week. She is an incredible stamper…I always love her style and color combinations…so no surprise that she created a fun sketch too!

I kept this one pretty clean today and focused on the “Flower” product suite. I stamped the flowers from Flower Patch in Midnight Muse (ret), Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon and Pumpkin Pie. Not exactly the colors from the Flowerpot DSP but close. The paper prints are so pretty that I wanted them to shine in this so I chose the polka dots and added in a couple of strips of coordinating patterns. The Flower Fair Framelits keep this simple because they do all the cutting for you! Love that! A white button and some Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine to finish it off. This is one that is easy to make in multiples and would made a cute set! I let off the sentiment and will just add one inside when I’m ready to use it.

There is a fantastic variety over at the challenge today! The team has created some beautiful work! Don’t forget to join in and let Amy know how much you appreciate this one!

You all know Narelle as the queen of fussy cutting but she is also amazing at creating sketches! Just take a look at what she has for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!! Yeah, I know….fabulous! So fabulous that it took me a bit to narrow down all the ideas I had.

Basically the decision was made for me when I picked up this already colored flower that I had made while my mom was visiting. I was showing her all the cool stuff you can do with Blendabilities and we use this retired Elements of Style stamp to play with. She chose it from my BOGO offerings after she made an order (for Blendabilities, of course). The depth of color from these markers really is fantastic! And yes, you can use them on other than White/Vanilla paper. You have to watch the bleed a little because the paper weave is looser but it is easy enough to get the feel for it! I combined it with the Dictionary Background Stamp after cutting my colored image out with the Ovals Framelits. All I had to do was add on some retired Naturals Ribbon and the new Venetian Crochet Trim (LOVE this trim!!). I tied a Very Vintage Button with some Linen Thread and called it done. YAY…..I actually used a panel from my “to-make” pile! Piece by piece I’m trying to catch up!

So this weekend I can actually start posting some of my projects from display stamping but where should I start?? With a brand new set from the Holiday Catalog (being released to demos later this week) OR with Kinda Eclectic OR with Amazing Birthday?? I’d love to know what YOU want to see first so let me know!

Another week, another amazing sketch from Freshly Made Sketches! This time, our fabulous layout is from the oh so cool Karren Johnson. Thank goodness I found it fast to use because I have been short on time this week. I was out on a 4 day trip over the long weekend and then the boys had a swim meet on Monday. If you have ever been to a swim meet, you know that means no time for stamping. Yesterday the family and I went out adventuring…something we haven’t done enough of this summer. So….a quick card it is for you today!

I took a leap with my interpretation of the sketch and instead of a panel, I chose to stencil on some stars with the new Hearts & Stars Masks. These are so easy to use and are such fun too. I used Lost Lagoon (a new In Color) and a Sponge Dauber. For the banner, I pulled out Amazing Birthday and stamped Daffodil Delight onto White Vellum Card Stock and then embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Then I stamped the banner sentiment with Lagoon again. A run through the Big Shot with the Banners Framelits and the two banners were done. I added on a button tied with the new Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine (I find it goes with all the yellows) and done. Yep….quick. But still really fun too.

The team has created some amazing cards. A big variety which I always love! Make sure you go check out all the great creations!

I’m in a big push to finish some swaps for next week’s Stampin’ Up Convention. I’m not able to go this year but I am still swapping with some fabulous stampers who are kind enough to let me in with them! Kind of makes me feel like I’m not missing as much. Oh, do we have a fun one for you this week at Freshly Made Sketches!! The oh so creative Cindy Lovell is our hostess this week so it is no wonder the sketch is cool! And speaking of cool….did you hear the news??!! Blendabilities are officially available for order!!! Yes, these wonderful markers can now be yours! There are six colors available plus the skin tones, color lifter and the coordinating Memento Black Ink. To celebrate, I’m sharing this with you.

I have a confession to make. I did not color this whole flower. I was showing my mom the new markers last week during her visit and my 8 year old son want to color too. Who can say no to that?! Not me!! So he chose his colors (Coastal Cabana) and started a few petals at a time like I taught him. Being an 8 yo boy, he lost interest about halfway through the flower and told me that I could finish it, lol. But can you tell my coloring from his….I can’t! Still not sure about these fun markers or how to use them? Check out this section of tutorials from Stampin’ Up on YouTube:

Blendabilities Tutorials from Stampin’ Up!

There are lots of ways to blend and many are just personal preference. Just get the markers and start experimenting. You’ll be so happy you did! Just so you know, all the colors are not available yet but they are coming. Demos get to order some more colors now and customers will be able to on August 1. Need another reason to become a demo now? I didn’t think so, LOL. I’d love to have you join my team if you are interested!

Ok…back to the card. Sorry to digress but the news was too good not to share. After coloring the flower, I cut it out and went back around the cut edges with my Basic Black Marker to clean up cutting variations (make sure you come from behind the image). For the sketch I backed the flower with a Tea Lace Doily and added a Bermuda Bay panel and some of the new Hello Honey Stitched Satin Ribbon. I was out of Curry buttons but no fear, Blendabilities are here! I took a So Saffron button and colored it with my darker marker from the Daffodil Delight set and voila! A matching button. More blendies coloring on the pearls to use as accents. The sentiment is from the always awesome Teeny Tiny Wishes!

I am so happy to share this sketch with you today. The wonderful Jennifer Brum created this one for us at Freshly Made Sketches and I could not be happier to see it. I was feeling little flat creatively this week. Does that ever happen to you? For me, a great sketch seems to kick start me in the right direction and I think this is the one I needed!

So have you seen the Typeset Specialty DSP in the new catalog? It was at the very top of my “must have” list for papers this year. And yes, it is just as awesome as I had hoped. I was going to add in some other colors with it but somehow I liked just the black/vanilla combination as this was coming together. I stamped on the sentiment from Flower Patch and it looks like it was part of the paper doesn’t it. Memento Black ink for the stamping. The flower uses 3 of the Flower Fair Framelits (say that 3 times fast) with different patterns from the paper. Just a pop of color from a Cherry Cobbler button and I was so happy with this!

I’m a little late on my post today….sorry about that. First official day of summer break for the boys and we are getting our swim practice routine down. The talented and oh so sweet Cindy Hall has a great sketch for you this week at Freshly Made Sketches. Look at all the possibilities!

I went with a flowery, summer take on the sketch. All the work is done by the new Flowerpot DSP! This sketch is great for DSP’s, don’t you think? The prints are the front and back sides of one design so easy enough to keep the pieces the right sizes. I added on a button tied with new Tangerine Tango Baker’s Twine and added a sentiment from Fabulous Four.

Sorry for the quick post…just trying to get caught up today. You know how it goes. The whole team has created a marvelous variety that will get your creativity going. Hope to see you in the gallery!

Fun, fun, fun!! That is what Freshly Made Sketches has for you this week! The funny and so talented Linda Callahan has created this sketch with so many possibilities! The team has already gone wild with it and you will love playing too!

I took a pretty literal view on the sketch this time. I saw this fun striped print from Sweet Taffy DSP and just had to use it! The word bubble from Just Sayin’ seemed like the perfect addition when I was trying to add a sentiment and I like the result. I stamped it in Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black then cut along the Razzleberry border. Using my Word Bubbles Framelits, I cut out another matching bubble from Basic Black to give it a frame. Then I went a little crazy with the Candy Dots (they are such fun) using the Brights colors that are in the DSP. Wow…two Brights cards in a row. Must be summer!! Seasonal Stamper’s Disorder (SSD) always affects me with my color choices, lol!
