The lovely and super talented Kim Singdahlsen is our sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches and she really created a unique one. Super interesting and so many ways to play with the idea!
After pondering the “any shape” feature for a while, I thought I would see if these leaves from Concord and 9th would be right. Yep! Totally!! I colored with Tim Holtz Distress Ink onto watercolor paper and then cut the leaves out. It gives them a soft, varied look in person! I first started using Kraft and then white but finally realized that this DSP pack (retired from SU) was the PERFECT answer. Don’t forget to look in your stash (because I know you have one) for those hidden gems that you have forgotten after the season changed. I love the plaid for fall and the pretty polka dots were a great background for the sentiment. This script/type combination is from Mama Elephant’s Butterfly Kisses set. I stamped in Early Espresso using my Misti to get a super crisp and clean look. I played with the placement of the leaves and found that this little button provided the right balance. See…you are going to have fun playing with this one!!
I hope you enjoy this one and that you will join us this week. I’ll be back on Friday with the latest from the Fancy Friday team. Lots of fun on that one that you won’t want to miss. Until then, have a great week!

This DSP is one of my all time faves! Love it! The leaves look fabulous with it! Perfect fall card and oh so pretty!
Plaid and polka dots – what a fabulous combination and those leaves are just gorgeous and perfect for this card.
I so love that sweater weather paper! Must be my favourite paper pack! The leaves looks beautiful! Such a gorgeous, warm card!
A fabulous take on this week’s sketch! You managed to create a clean card using plaid DSP that’s brilliant !
*Sigh* this is fabulous. I don’t consider myself a plaid person, but that background is pretty terrific. I love how you kept the additional layers to a minimum so they wouldn’t interfere. The banner with the bold sentiment and the subtly colored leaves are stunning against the plaid.
That paper is in my stash too!! It’s gorgeous behind those dramatic leaves!
